The observation of double quantum transitions on three kinds of free radicals (DPPH, DPANO, ultramarine) at temperatures of liquid nitrogen is described. Signals having an absorption and emission character were observed in the 12-5 MHz–18 MHz frequency band in the direction parallel to the external magnetic fieldH 0 and their dependence on different parameters was studied.Bloch equations were solved for two mutually perpendicular high-frequency fields and expressions were found for the components of dynamic susceptibility in theH 0 direction. The experiments agree with theory.The possibility of using double quantum transitions for measuring relaxation times is discussed.

Hadron fields are constructed from constituent fields in the anisotropic microdomain, regarded as Finslerian, which were discussed in an earlier paper. The general one-particle hadron states are formulated. The many-particle hadron states are also formed as direct products of one-particle states. Then the field theory of hadrons in the macrodomain is discussed and formal calculations are made for the reaction amplitude of the meson-baryon interaction and compared with that of our previous model. It is found that the amplitude is dependent on that of the interaction together with a factor arising from the rearrangement of the constituents. This factor provides an extra momentum dependence that leads to the energy-dependent coupling which makes it possible to apply perturbation technique in strong interactions, as discussed in our earlier papers.  相似文献

With the vibrating reed and vibrating wire techniques we have investigated the acoustic properties of vitreous silica (SiO2, Suprasil I) and of amorphous PdSiCu as well as of polycrystalline Ag, NbTi and Ta at frequencies of 100 Hz/2<6 kHz and at temperatures of 0.1 mKT1 K. The relative change of sound velocity v/v of SiO2 shows saturation effects, strain amplitude dependence, as well as an unexpected temperature dependence below its maximum atT<50 mK. For PdSiCu we observe that below a certain temperature, which depends on the applied strain, the temperature dependence of the sound velocityv deviates from the logarithmic behavior observed at higher temperatures and reaches an almost constant value atT<1 mK. In the same temperature rangeQ –1 does not remain constant but steadily decreases. The acoustic properties of the two amorphous materials at finite strain show substantial deviations from the standard tunneling model. Some of the observed anomalies can be explained taking into account the change of population of the tunneling systems energy states and a nonlinear relaxation absorption. For polycrystalline Ag we find v/v lnT andQ –1T 1/3 over three decades inT atT<100 mK; it shows low-temperature acoustic properties which are strikingly similar to those of amorphous materials. The temperature and strain dependencies of the acoustic properties of polycrystalline superconducting NbTi and Ta resemble those obtained for SiO2. These results indicate that there are basically no differences in the low-temperature acoustic properties of polycrystals and amorphous materials.  相似文献

The energies and intensities of the transitions of a compound nucleus, produced by the capture of a neutron, were measured by means of a single-crystal scintillation spectrometer. The region of energies 20–1000 keV was measured on Sc, Fe, Cu, Mo, Cd and L a nuclei.

A variety of rigorous inequalities for critical exponents is proved. Most notable is the low-temperature Josephson inequalitydv +2 2–. Others are 1 1 +v, 1 1 , 1,d 1 + 1/ (for d),dv, 3 + (for d), 4 , and 2m 2m+2 (form 2). The hypotheses vary; all inequalities are true for the spin-1/2 Ising model with nearest-neighbor ferromagnetic pair interactions.NSF Predoctoral Fellow (1976–1979). Zusammenfassung Es werden Ergebnisse beschrieben über die Temperaturabhängigkeit: der kritischen Schubspannung 0, des Verfestigungskoeffizienten A , im BereichA der Verfestigungskurve; des Verfestigungskoeffizienten B im BereichB, der Längea A des BereichsA und der Schubspannung A am Ende des BereichsA. Die kritische Schubspannung wächst im Temperaturbereich 225–344°K linear mit abnehmender Temperatur. Der Temperaturverlauf des Verfestigungskoeffizienten A , stimmt überein mit älteren Messungen an h.k.p. Metallen. Ähnlich verhält sich der Verfestigungskoeffizient B . Die Schubspannung am Ende des BereichsA wird durch thermisch aktivierte Vorgänge beeinflußt. Der BereichA verkürzt sich im Temperaturbereich 0–85°C linear mit zunehmender Temperatur. Temperaturwechselversuche zeigen, daß im BereichB thermisch irreversible Änderungen in der Versetzungsstruktur auftreten.

The method of sliding photomultipliers was used to study the connection between two forms of the positive column in oxygen — the so-called low-gradientT-form and the highgradientH-form — and the presence of moving striations in the positive column. It was shown that in theT-form of a positive column striations are always present which move from the cathode to anode with a velocity of several thousand metres/sec. The highgradient form of theH-positive column, on the other hand, is not striated. The non-single-valuedness of the value of the longitudinal electric field in a discharge in oxygen is thus explained by the presence or absence of phenomena of a time variable character.

Different models of luminescence centres are discussed on the basis of measurements of the composition of ZnS monocrystal photo-luminescence in different polarizations and temperature dependence of the degree of polarization. Those of the models submitted by Birman, which assume the polarization to be due to the different force of the oscillators for transitions withEc andEc, or models assuming luminescence polarization to be due to the orientation of the luminescence centres, agree with the results of experiments, i.e. the temperature independence of the degree of polarization and the conformable spectral composition of both polarizations. It is also shown that measurements made up to now of the degree of polarization must be taken as orientational as a consequence of the depolarizing influence of the diffused rays of luminescence on its value.

A study is made of the ground-state energy of a spin-one-half particle in a fieldB and interacting with a phonon bath. The infrared-sensitive case of acoustic phonons with point coupling in three dimensions is characterized by two parameters, a coupling constant andB. Units are used where the high-momentum phonon cutoff is unity. There is a curve (B) separating a symmetry-breaking region with a long-range phonon field from a normal region. Two simple, well-known, approximations are compared. The source theory yields discontinuities in the first derivatives of the energy with respect toB and whenB>e –1 and an infinite-order transition whenB<e –1, but is trivial in the large- region. The classical theory yields discontinuities in the second derivatives but is trivial in the small- region. An improved variationally fixed ground-state wave function is analyzed. It gives a new (B) curve with an infinite-order transition with continuous energy derivatives whenB<e/(e 2–1/4) and with discontinuous derivatives whenB is larger than this value. It is nontrivial in the entire (B) plane. The crossover to classical behavior occurs near =1/2 forB1. But the wave function does not describe quantum fluctuations in the large- phase. A second way of combining source and classical effects is described. It yields a second-order transition (near =1/2 forB1) everywhere. These theories are special cases of a symmetry-breaking transformation together with a one-mode treatment of quantum fluctuations. The transition is viewed in terms of a single mode with a variable length, coupled dynamically to the spin.  相似文献

In the framework of extended gravity theories, we discuss the meaning of a time-dependent cosmological constant and give a set of conditions to recover an asymptotic de Sitter behaviour for a class of cosmological models independently of initial data. To this purpose we introduce a time-dependent (effective) quantity which asymptotically becomes the true cosmological constant. We will deal with scalar-tensor, fourth and higher than fourth-order theories.  相似文献

The existence of space-times representing pure gravitational radiation which comes in from infinity and interacts with itself is discussed. They are characterized as solutions of Einstein's vacuum field equations possessing a smooth structure at past null infinity which forms the future null cone at past timelike infinity with complete generators. The pure radiation problem is analysed where free initial data for Einstein's field equations are prescribed on the null cone at past time-like infinity. It is demonstrated how the pure radiation problem can be formulated as a local initial value problem for the symmetric hyperbolic system of reduced conformal vacuum field equations. A locally finite, causal, and quantal substitute for a locally Minkowskian principal fiber bundle of modules of Cartan differential forms over a bounded region X of a curved C -smooth spacetime manifold M with structure group G that of orthochronous Lorentz transformations L + := SO(1,3), is presented. is usually regarded as the kinematical structure of classical Lorentzian gravity when the latter is viewed as a Yang-Mills type of gauge theory of a sl(2, {})-valued connection 1-form . The mathematical structure employed to model this replacement of is a principal finitary spacetime sheaf of quantum causal sets with structure group G n, which is a finitary version of the continuous group G of local symmetries of General Relativity, and a finitary Lie algebra g n-valued connection 1-form on it, which is a section of its subsheaf . is physically interpreted as the dynamical field of a locally finite quantum causality, whereas its associated curvature as some sort of finitary and causal Lorentzian quantum gravity.  相似文献

The general properties of signals permit a nonaxiomatic reconstruction of the quantum probability formalism independent of the standard Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics. Performance standards are specified for candidate clock, signaller, and reflector devices, and it is shown that the resulting formalism forces identification of a probability- or intensity-like structure as the absolute square of an amplitude, the relative phases of amplitudes appearing explicitly in the probability composition law. Inequalities are produced which on one interpretation reduce to the Heisenberg relations, but it is pointed out that this reconstruction disqualifies position as an observable property of a signal.  相似文献

A Dale-Eisinger style analysis (R. E. Daleet al., Biophys. J. 26, 161, 1979) is used to produce three-dimensional plots that display the limits on the average orientation factor k 2 that is required to calculate molecular distances in F-actin from fluorescence resonance energy transfer measurements. Maxima and minima plots are generated for the transfer of energy from a donor to a single acceptor and for transfer to multiple acceptors that are related by F-actin helical symmetry. The analysis is performed in terms of dipole cone half-angles rather than depolarization factors, in order to facilitate the modeling of the multiple acceptor problem. Calculations are carried out under the restrictive condition of a single electric dipole moment per fluorophore. In addition, both surface and volume averaging of the donor and acceptor dipoles are considered. Comparisons between the plots show that for the multiple acceptor cases with F-actin symmetry, there is a great reduction in the range for maxima and minima limits on k 2. The calculations also suggest guidelines for the choice of fluorescence label that will result in an average orientation factor occurring within acceptable limits, i.e., inside the limits for which k 2=2/3 may be employed. Thus, without having detailed knowledge of the mean donor or acceptor dipole relative orientations, the use of k 2=2/3 in radial coordinate studies of F-actin is more than reasonable and is fairly assured of being correct.  相似文献

The real part of the dielectric constant , the heat capacityc p, the infrared reflectivity, and the X-ray diffraction of TlGaSe2 have been measured in the temperature range from 12 K (30K) to 300 K. Both andc p show two anomalies at about 110 K and 120 K. A study of the hysteresis loop as well as an investigation of the dielectric dispersion in the microwave region show that the phase below 110 K is ferroelectric. The crystal structure remains nearly unchanged in the course of the phase transition. The loss of the symmetry (C2/cCc) results from small positional shifts of the T1 atoms in the ab plane accompanied by a discontinuity in the axial ratios. We suggest, that the ferroelectricity is caused by the stereochemically active electron lone pair configuration of the Tl+ ion. Thus TlGaSe2 may provide the first example for ferroelectricity caused by this mechanism.  相似文献
