Based on the algebraic entanglement measure proposed [G. Vidal et al., Phys. Rev. A 65 (2002) 032314],we study the entanglement evolution of both pure quantum states and mixed ones of 2-qutrit system in a symmetrybroken environment consisting of a fermionic bath. Entanglement of states will decrease or remain constant under the influence of environment, and the class of states which remain unchanged has been found out.

In this paper, we have investigated the quantum entanglement of quantum states undergoing decoherence from a spin environment which drives a quantum phase transition. From our analysis, we find that the entanglement dynamics depends not only on the coupling strength but also on the external magnetic field and the number of the freedom degrees of the environment. Specially, our results imply that the decay of the entanglement can be enhanced by the quantum phase transition of the environment when the system is coupled to the environment weakly. Additionally, the discussion of the case of the multipartite states with high dimensions is made.

We study the dynamics of quantum discord of two-qubit system in a quantum spin environment at finite temperature in the thermodynamics limit. Special attention is paid to the difference between the entanglement and quantum discord when considering the influences of the environment temperature and the initial system states. We show that in the same range of the physical parameters, when the system states behave no entanglement or entanglement sudden death, the quantum discord keeps nonzero. So the quantum discord is more robust than entanglement under this decoherence environment. Furthermore, we also illustrate that we can tune the parameters related to the system and the environment to suppress the decay of quantum discord.

We investigate the entanglement dynamics and decoherence of a three-qubit system under a quantum spin environment at a finite temperature in the thermodynamics limit. For the case under study, we find the evolution of pairwise entanglement depends not only on the initial states but also on the parameters related to the system and the spin environment. In addition, an undesirable entanglement sudden death occurs in the process of entanglement evolution, and this effect can be controlled by the coupling constant between two qubits, external magnetic field, and the interaction between the system and the environment.

We use the quantum jump approach to study the entanglement dynamics of a quantum register, which is composed of two or three dipole-dipole coupled two-level atoms, interacting with a common environment. Our investigation of entanglement dynamics reflects that the environment has dual actions on the entanglement of the qubits in the model. While the environment destroys the entanglement induced by the coherent dipole-dipole interactions, it can produce stable entanglement between the qubits prepared initially in a separable state. The analysis shows that it is the entangled decoherence-free states contained as components in the initial state that contribute to the stable entanglement. Our study indicates how the environmental noise produces the entanglement and exposes the interplay of environmental noise and coherent interactions of qubits on the entanglement.

The entanglement evolution of multipartite quantum states under a spin environment is analyzed. Due to interaction, the extent to which the entanglement vanishes depends not only on the size of system and the structure of quantum states, but also on the exchange couplings with environment. The decoherence-free subspaces have been identified by using the linear entropy.

A system of two initially entangled qubits interacting with a bosonic environment is considered. The interaction induces a loss of the initial entanglement of the two qubits, and for specific initial states it causes entanglement sudden death. An investigation of the modifications on the entanglement dynamics by a single pulse control field, performed in the two qubit system, shows that the control field can not only protect entangled states against sudden death but also induce a revival of entanglement in the two qubit system.

We investigate the dynamics of entanglement for a two-parameter class of states in a hybrid qubit-qutrit system under the influence of various dissipative channels. Our results show that entanglement sudden death (ESD) is a general phenomenon and it usually takes place in a qubit-qutrit system interacting with various noisy channels, not only the case with dephasing and depolarizing channels observed by others. ESD can only be avoided for some initially entangled states under some particular noisy channels. Moreover, the environment affects the entanglement and the coherence of the system in very different ways.

We investigate the entanglement dynamics and decoherence of a multipartite system under an environment which can exhibit a quantum phase transition. Our result implies that the entanglement evolution depends not only on the size of the system and the quantum states of concern but also on the environment. In the sense of the linear entropy to measure decoherence induced by the environment, the decoherence-free subspaces have been identified for our model.

In this work, we analyze the loss of entanglement of bipartite states after propagation in a noisy channel modeled by the interaction between the bipartite state and the environment through a canonical unitary form of a two-qubit gate. An analytic expression for the entanglement loss is found.

We investigate the entanglement dynamics in a bipartite atomic system subjected to thermal environment with arbitrary initial pure entangled states. We consider the atoms close together and study the effect of temperature of the reservoir and the interatomic distance on the evolution of entanglement for both initially entangled and unentangled states. We find that we can have long time entanglement even in thermal environment.

The entanglement dynamics of three-qubit states under a general XY spin-chain environment which can exhibit a quantum phase transition is investigated by using negativity as entanglement measure. Our results imply that the entanglement evolution depends not only on the states of concern but also on the system-environment coupling, the anisotropy parameter, the size of the environment, and the strength of the external field applied to the environment. For the cases under study, we find that the entanglement decay is enhanced by quantum phase transition under weak coupling. The conditions to identify quantum decoherence-free subspaces have been discussed.

Finding the most robust entangled states during the whole process of decoherence is a particularly fundamental problem for quantum physics and quantum information processing. In this paper, the decoherence process of two-qubit system under two individual identical decoherence channels is investigated systematically. We find that although the robustness of two-qubit states with same initial entanglement is usually different, the Bell-like states are always the most robust entangled states during decoherence. That is to say, affected by the same amount of noise, the remain entanglement of an arbitrary two-qubit state is not more than that of a Bell-like state with the same initial entanglement.

We investigate the non-Markovian effects on the entanglement transfer to the distant non-interacting atom qubits, which are embedded in a coupled superconducting resonator. The master equation governing the dynamics of the system is derived by the non-Markovian quantum state diffusion(NMQSD) method. Based on the solution, we show that the memory effect of the environment can lead to higher entanglement revival and make the entanglement last for a longer time. That is to say, the non-Markovian environment can enhance the entanglement transfer. It is also found that the maximum entanglement transferred to distant atoms can be modified by appropriately selecting the frequency of the modulated intercavity coupling. Moreover, with the initial anti-correlated state, the entanglement between the cavity fields can be almost completely transferred to the separated atoms. Lastly, we show that the memory effect has a significant impact on the generation of entanglement from the initial non-entangled states.

Taking the decoherence effect due to population relaxation into account, we investigate the entanglement properties for two qubits in the Heisenberg XY interaction and subject to an external magnetic field. It is found that the phenomenon of entanglement sudden death (ESD) as well as sudden birth (ESB) appear during the evolution process for particular initial states. The influence of the external magnetic field and the spin environment on ESD and ESB are addressed in detail. It is shown that the concurrence, a measure of entanglement, can be controlled by tuning the parameters of the spin chain, such as the anisotropic parameter, external magnetic field, and the coupling strength with their environment. In particular, we find that a critical anisotropy constant exists, above which ESB vanishes while ESD appears. It is also notable that stable entanglement, which is independent of different initial states of the qubits, occurs even in the presence of decoherence.

The concept of entanglement entropy appears in multiple contexts, from black hole physics to quantum information theory, where it measures the entanglement of quantum states. We investigate the entanglement entropy in a simple model, the spin-boson model, which describes a qubit (two-level system) interacting with a collection of harmonic oscillators that models the environment responsible for decoherence and dissipation. The entanglement entropy allows to make a precise unification between entanglement of the spin with its environment, decoherence, and quantum phase transitions. We derive exact analytical results which are confirmed by Numerical Renormalization Group arguments both for an ohmic and a subohmic bosonic bath. The entanglement entropy obeys universal scalings. We make comparisons with entanglement properties in the quantum Ising model and in the Dicke model. We also emphasize the possibility of measuring this entropy using charge qubits subject to electromagnetic noise; such measurements would provide an empirical proof of the existence of entanglement entropy.
