The effect of additive coloured noises, which are correlated in time, on one-dimensional travelling waves in the complex Ginzburg-Landau equation is studied by numerical simulations. We found that a small coloured noise with temporal correlation could considerably influence the stability of one-dimensional wave trains. There exists an optimal temporal correlation of noise where travelling waves are the most vulnerable. To elucidate the phenomena, we statistically calculated the convective velocities Vg of the wave packets, and found that the coloured noise with an appropriate temporal correlation can decrease Vg, making the system convectively more unstable.  相似文献

The transport of a symmetric periodic potential driven by a static bias and correlated noises is investigated for both the over-damped case and the under-damped case. By both theoretical approximation and numerical simulations, we study steady current of an over-damped Brownian particle moving in the potential. It is shown that the symmetric periodic potential driven by a static bias and the correlated noises is simultaneously able to exhibit directional transport, a single current reversal, as well as a double current reversal. For the under-damped case, we examine the dynamic at various inertial strengths by direct simulations of the stochastic differential equations. We specially focus on the influence of inertial term in the particle dynamics for the noise induced, directed current. Different directions of the steady current is found for different masses of the particles, thus an efficient scheme to separate the Brownian particles according to their mass is suggested.  相似文献

We have further investigated Turing patterns in a reaction-diffusion system by theoretical analysis and numerical simulations. Simple Turing patterns and complex superlattice structures are observed. We find that the shape and type of Turing patterns depend on dynamical parameters and external periodic forcing, and is independent of effective diffusivity rate σ in the Lengyel-Epstein model. Our numerical results provide additional insight into understanding the mechanism of development of Turing patterns and predicting new pattern formations.  相似文献

Families of complex superlattice structures, consisting of combinations of basic hexagonal or square patterns, are found in a photosensitive reaction-diffusion system. The structures are induced by simple illumination patterns whose wavelengths are appropriately related to that of the system's intrinsic Turing pattern. Computer simulations agree with the structures and their stability. The technique offers a general approach to generating superlattices for use in information storage and other applications.  相似文献

We present Turing pattern selection in a reaction—diffusion epidemic model under zero-flux boundary conditions. The value of this study is twofold. First, it establishes the amplitude equations for the excited modes, which determines the stability of amplitudes towards uniform and inhomogeneous perturbations. Second, it illustrates all five categories of Turing patterns close to the onset of Turing bifurcation via numerical simulations which indicates that the model dynamics exhibits complex pattern replication: on increasing the control parameter v, the sequence “H0 hexagons → H0-hexagon-stripe mixtures → stripes → Hπ-hexagon-stripe mixtures → Hπ hexagons” is observed. This may enrich the pattern dynamics in a diffusive epidemic model.  相似文献

The transient properties of an optical bistable system driven by multiplicative and additive noises are investigated. The effects of multiplicative and additive noises intensities on the mean first-passage times (MFPTs) in two opposite directions are discussed. The results show that the intensities of multiplicative and additive noises affect the MFPTs on two directions in the same way.  相似文献

We consider a reaction-diffusion system in crossed electric and magnetic fields lying on the reaction plane. It is shown that a charge separation along the direction normal to the reaction plane resulting in a diffusional flux may cause a differential flow induced chemical instability and stationary pattern formation on a homogeneous steady state. This pattern is generically different from a Turing pattern modified by the crossed fields. The special role of magnetic field is emphasized. Our theoretical analysis is corroborated by numerical simulation on a reaction-diffusion system in three dimensions.  相似文献

Pattern formation of a spatial epidemic model with both self- and cross-diffusion is investigated. From the Turing theory, it is well known that Turing pattern formation cannot occur for the equal self-diffusion coefficients. However, combined with cross-diffusion, the system will show emergence of isolated groups, i.e., stripe-like or spotted or coexistence of both, which we show by both mathematical analysis and numerical simulations. Our study shows that the interaction of self- and cross-diffusion can be considered as an important mechanism for the appearance of complex spatiotemporal dynamics in epidemic models.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the periodic response for a linear system driven by a multiplicative multi-state noise (which is composed of the multiplication of two dichotomous noises) to an input temporal oscillatory signal, and the escape of Brownian particles over the fluctuating potential barrier for a system with a piece-wise linear potential and driven by an additive multi-state noise (which is also composed of the multiplication of two dichotomous noises). For the first system, we get the stochastic resonance phenomenon for the amplitude of the periodic response vs. the two dichotomous noise strengths, and the phenomenon of reverse-resonance for the amplitude of the periodic response vs. k, which represents the asymmetry degree of the dichotomous noises. For the second system, we obtain the resonant activation phenomenon, for which the mean first passage time of the Brownian particles over the fluctuating potential barrier shows a minimum as the function of the transition rates of the multi-state noise.  相似文献

The controllable transition between Turing and antispiral patterns is studied by using a time-delayed-feedback strategy in a FitzHugh-Nagumo model. We treat the time delay as a perturbation and analyse the effect of the time delay on the Turing and Hopf instabilities near the Turing-Hopf codimension-two phase space.Numerical simulations show that the transition between the Turing patterns(hexagon, stripe, and honeycomb),the dual-mode antispiral, and the antispiral by applying appropriate feedback parameters. The dual-mode antispiral pattern originates from the competition between the Turing and Hopf instabilities. Our results have shown the flexibility of the time delay on controlling the pattern formations near the Turing-Hopf codimension-two phase space.  相似文献

We examine how noise interacts with encoding mechanisms of neuronal stimulus in a cold receptor. From ISI series and bifurcation diagrams it is shown that there are considerable differences in interval distributions and impulse patterns caused by purely deterministic simulations and noisy simulations. The ISI-distance can be used as an effective and powerful way to measure the noise effects on spike trains of the cold receptor quantitatively. It is also found that spike trains observed in cold receptors can be more strongly affected by noise for low temperatures than for high temperatures in some aspects; meanwhile, the spike train has greater variability with increasing noise intensity.  相似文献

Turing patterns beyond hexagons and stripes   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The best known Turing patterns are composed of stripes or simple hexagonal arrangements of spots. Until recently, Turing patterns with other geometries have been observed only rarely. Here we present experimental studies and mathematical modeling of the formation and stability of hexagonal and square Turing superlattice patterns in a photosensitive reaction-diffusion system. The superlattices develop from initial conditions created by illuminating the system through a mask consisting of a simple hexagonal or square lattice with a wavelength close to a multiple of the intrinsic Turing pattern's wavelength. We show that interaction of the photochemical periodic forcing with the Turing instability generates multiple spatial harmonics of the forcing patterns. The harmonics situated within the Turing instability band survive after the illumination is switched off and form superlattices. The square superlattices are the first examples of time-independent square Turing patterns. We also demonstrate that in a system where the Turing band is slightly below criticality, spatially uniform internal or external oscillations can create oscillating square patterns.  相似文献

We study the steady state properties of an absorptive optical bistable model in the presence of correlated noises. Based on the corresponding Fokker-Planck equation the steady state solution of the probability distribution and the average value of the transmitted light have been investigated. We have found that fluctuations of the input light amplitude improve the transmitted light and an optimized value exists for the fluctuations of the population difference at which the transmitted light takes its maximum value. The correlation between the two noises reduce the transmitted light and the noises in the model can induce a phase transition.  相似文献

Competition of spatial and temporal instabilities under time delay near the codimension-two Turing-Hopf bifurcations is studied in a reaction-diffusion equation. The time delay changes remarkably the oscillation frequency, the intrinsic wave vector, and the intensities of both Turing and Hopf modes.
The application of appropriate time delay can control the competition between the Turing and Hopf modes. Analysis shows that individual or both feedbacks can realizethe control of the transformation between the Turing and Hopf patterns.Two-dimensional numerical simulations validate the analytical results.  相似文献

The Stratonovich stochastic differential equation is used to analyze genotype selection in the presence ot correlatecl Gaussian white noises. We study the steady state properties of the genotype selection and discuss the effects of the correlated noises. It is found that the degree of correlation of the noises can be used to select one type of genes from another type of mixing genes. The strong selection of genes caused by a large value of multiplicative noise intensity can be weakened by the intensive negative correlation.  相似文献

In this Letter, stability analysis is applied to a two-dimensional Logistic coupled map lattice with the periodic boundary conditions. The conditions of Turing instability are obtained, and various patterns can be exhibited by numerical simulations in the Turing instability region. For example, space-time periodic structures, periodic or quasiperiodic traveling wave solutions, stationary wave solutions, spiral waves, and spatiotemporal chaos, etc. have been observed. In particular, the different pattern structures have also been observed for same parameters and different initial values. That is, pattern structures also depend on the initial values. The similar patterns have also been seen in relevant references. However, the present Letter owes to pattern formation via diffusion-driven instabilities because the system is stable in the absence of diffusion.  相似文献

We investigate the asymmetry of heart rate control system and suggest a simple index to quantify this asymmetry by performing high-dimensional time irreversibility tests to heartbeat interval time series over multiple scales. The results provide strong evidence to the concept that the asymmetry is an intrinsic property of heart rate control system. As a simple and visual method, it is proved to be effective in classifying physiologic and synthetic subjects while the maximum scale is selected within a proper range, and also provides a new way to analyze the time irreversibility for other high-dimensional systems.  相似文献

We present a comprehensive study of phase transitions in a single-field reaction-diffusion stochastic systems with a field-dependent mobility of a power-law form and internal fluctuations. Using variational principles and mean-field theory we have shown that the noise can sustain spatial patterns and leads to phase transitions type of “order-disorder”. These phase transitions can be critical and non-critical in character. Our theoretical results are verified by computer simulations.  相似文献

We study a pair of asymmetrically coupled identical chaotic quadratic maps. We investigate, via numerical simulations, chaos suppression associated with the variation of both parameters, the coupling parameter and the parameter which measures the asymmetry. This is a new technique recently introduced for chaos suppression in continuous systems and, as far we know, not yet tested for discrete systems. Parameter-space regions where the chaotic dynamics is driven towards regular dynamics are shown. Lyapunov exponents and phase-space plots are also used to characterize the phenomenon observed as the parameters are changed.  相似文献

We study the phenomenon of stochastic resonance on Newman-Watts small-world networks consisting of biophysically realistic Hodgkin-Huxley neurons with a tunable intensity of intrinsic noise via voltage-gated ion channels embedded in neuronal membranes. Importantly thereby, the subthreshold periodic driving is introduced to a single neuron of the network, thus acting as a pacemaker trying to impose its rhythm on the whole ensemble. We show that there exists an optimal intensity of intrinsic ion channel noise by which the outreach of the pacemaker extends optimally across the whole network. This stochastic resonance phenomenon can be further amplified via fine-tuning of the small-world network structure, and depends significantly also on the coupling strength among neurons and the driving frequency of the pacemaker. In particular, we demonstrate that the noise-induced transmission of weak localized rhythmic activity peaks when the pacemaker frequency matches the intrinsic frequency of subthreshold oscillations. The implications of our findings for weak signal detection and information propagation across neural networks are discussed.  相似文献
