光抽运双光子激光朗之万量子理论

本文采用朗之万量子理论获得光抽运双光子激光具有双光子损耗时的朗之万方程,进一步获得稳态平均光子数、频率牵引、线宽和动态斯塔克效应,对激光增益来源的分析表明,非相干抽运仅有单双光子两步过程有贡献,而相干抽运,除上述过程外还有单双光子一步过程有贡献,而且,上述两个过程都受到负反馈和饱和因子的制约,线宽与稳态平均光子数无关。 关键词：     

Statistical and coherence effects in nonlinear optical parametric up conversion. I. Coherent interaction

The distinction between coherent and incoherent nonlinear optical interactions is established at the beginning of the paper. In the first part parametric up conversion (PUC) by coherent nonlinear optical mixing of the strong pumping radiation with weak input radiation is treated with respect to statistical properties of generating radiations. The efficiency of PUC is calculated by means of the conserved statistics method. It is shown that the efficiency of PUC depends upon the photon statistics of the strong pumping radiation only, namely, it decreases with increasing fluctuation level in the pumping radiation. The fourth-order statistics of generated sum-frequency radiation is calculated in the first approximation of the iterative solution. The statistics of both generating radiations are projected into the statistical distribution of the resulting sum-frequency radiation in the same way at the beginning of the process.     

Stimulated emission processes in highly excited CdS at 80 K

The stimulated emission from CdS at 80 K under high excitation density is studied by means of quasi-resonant dye laser pumping. The evidence of exciton-exciton (P line) and exciton-electron (E line) scattering and, at the highest excitation level, of electron-hole plasma (EHP) recombination are reported and discussed also by means of optical gain measurements.     

Optogalvanic detection of velocity-selective optical pumping in an open, cascade atomic medium

We performed two-color spectroscopy of the (4s²) ¹S₀ → (4s4p) ¹P₁ → (4p²) ¹D₂ calcium atomic transition and observed velocity-selective optical pumping in a calcium hollow cathode lamp by means of optogalvanic detection. The optical pumping signature in optogalvanic detection is compared to that of fluorescence and transmission detections. The optogalvanic technique is found to be a very sensitive method of detecting optical pumping and could be used in distinguishing optical pumping from electromagnetically induced transparency.     

Laser operation with output feedback pumping and first-order phase transition analogy

It is shown that by means of the newly proposed regime of output feedback pumping, a conventional laser exhibiting only second-order phase transition behavior generally displays the nonequilibrium analogue of a first-order phase transition. Optical bistability should also be achieved in the laser system under feedback pumping incorporated with an externally injected optical signal.     

Dimerization,trimerization and quantum pumping

We study one-dimensional topological models with dimerization and trimerization and show that these models can be generated using interaction or optical superlattice. The topological properties of these models are demonstrated by the appearance of edge states and the mechanism of dimerization and trimerization is analyzed. Then we show that a quantum pumping process can be constructed based on each one-dimensional topological model. The quantum pumping process is explicitly demonstrated by the instantaneous energy spectrum and local current. The result shows that the pumping is assisted by the gapless states connecting the bands and one charge is pumped during a cycle, which also defines a nonzero Chern number. Our study systematically shows the connection of one-dimensional topological models and quantum pumping, and is useful for the experimental studies on topological phases in optical lattices and photonic quasicrystals.     

200 nm Supercontinuum Generated by Subpicosecond Optical Pulses and its Evolution Process Observation

200 nm superconticnumm (SC) with high flatness (<3 dB) is demonstrated with subpicosecond optical pulses generated by a passively mode-locked figure-eight-laser. The evolution process of SC under different optical pumping power is observed experimentally. Three sequential evolution stages are found: (1) SC spectrum is asymmetrically broadened due to self-phase modulation (SPM) and group velocity dispersion (GVD). (2) When the broadened spectrum exceeds the zero dispersion point, cross phase modulation (XPM) and four wave mixing (FWM) will cause symmetrical spectrum broadening. (3) stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) causes the spectrum to broaden toward long wavelength quickly when pumping power is intense enough.     

Laser inhibited diffusion in rhodamine-ethanol solutions

The diffusion of rhodamine-6G dye in ethanol is observed to be inhibited by optical pumping by a cadmium laser. The diffusion process is observed as a function of the solution temperature. The relative difference in diffusion coefficients with and without optical pumping is calculated. The effect is interpreted as being due to a stronger solvent-dye interaction in the first excited singlet state of rhodamine-6G.     

Dual-frequency optical pumping for spin-polarizing a lithium atomic beam

A lithium-6 atomic beam is spin-polarized by means of optical pumping with a single-mode dye laser operating on the resonance transition. Simultaneous pumping of both hyperfine substates is achieved by frequency-splitting the laser light with an acousto-optic modulator. A polarization dependent signal, obtained by probing the optical activity of the beam with linearly polarized light, is utilized in a microprocessor-controlled laser stabilization scheme. The polarization is analyzed with a sextupole magnet and its overall value is 0.70 for an intensity of 1×10¹⁴ atms s⁻¹. By reversing the sense of circular polarization of the pumping light the atomic beam polarization is easily reversed in direction.

Observation of two multiwave mixing processes via dual optical pumping channels

Based on double optical pumping channels,we experimentally study the competition between two coexistent six-wave mixing(SWM) processes falling into two electromagnetically induced transparency windows by scanning the frequency of the probe field in two similar five-level atomic systems of 85Rb.By blocking one optical pumping channel unrelated to the four-wave mixing(FWM) process,one SWM process,together with the FWM process,generated by a conjugated small-angle static grating could be observed in the spectrum.Moreover,the other SWM process obtained by blocking the first SWM channel is also observed together with the FWM process in a lower N-type four-level subsystem.These experimental results agree well with theoretical predictions.     

不同泵浦光下Nd:GdVO4晶体输出特性

为研究808 nm和879 nm两种泵浦光对Nd:GdVO4晶体激光输出特性的影响,并比较两种不同波长泵浦所得连续输出光的效率高低,分析了Nd:GdVO4晶体的能级结构和两种泵浦光作用下的激光输出特性,发现在879 nm也有较强的吸收峰.用808 nm和879 nm两种不同波长泵浦Nd:GdVO4晶体的过程是不同的,808 nm泵浦是一种间接方式能量转移的过程,在此过程中有明显的热负载产生.而879 nm泵浦是将粒子直接激励到激光辐射上能级,降低无辐射弛豫过程产生的热量.从理论上可知,879 nm的泵浦量子效率要高于808 nm的泵浦量子效率,对减少晶体的热产生有很强的优势.实验中采用激光二极管端面泵浦Nd:GdVO4晶体直腔方案,研究了两种不同泵浦光泵浦Nd:GdVO4晶体以获得1 063 nm的连续光,得到了两种光抽运时的斜效率,发现在同样实验条件下,879 nm泵浦的输出光斜效率在小功率泵浦时略高于808 nm|而在大功率泵浦的情况下明显高于808 nm,最高达到38%.同时,在808 nm抽运时,实验上获得了1 341 nm波长的激光,为光通讯的应用提供了一种光源.     

光泵三能级激光的全量子理论

本文采用Langevin量子理论处理光泵三能级激光体系。在激光场的光子数不太高时导出一个普适的激光场Van der Pol运动方程。它既包括了非相干和相干泵浦,又包括了强泵浦和弱泵浦情况。若对热库取平均,该方程将给出半经典理论的全部结果。本文的结果表明,激光增益来源于两个基本过程:两个光子过程和两步过程。当泵浦强度大于某阈值时,将出现动态斯塔克效应。激光线宽主要来源于热噪声、真空涨落、激光能级的自发辐射以及自发Raman散射。 关键词：     

A study of energy transfer between electronically excited states using a picosecond laser pulse

By means of a novel picosecond polarization spectrometer we have determined that under conditions of normal pumping of organic systems a substantial annihilation of excited states occurs before the 6–8 ps duration of the pumping pulse. The effect is exposed by noting that prior to 6 ps the optical absorption of the S₁ transient produced by 353 nm pumping of 1,2-benzanthracene is caused to be depolarized at higher concentrations. In another case (xanthone) where no long range interactions can occur the depolarization of the spectra only occurred at low concentrations due to saturation effects.     

The pumping of an X-ray laser by means of an optical laser

A new mechanism for pumping of an X-ray laser by an optical laser is suggested. The inverse population between the inner levels of atoms is attained by means of the use of fast laser plasma electrons.     

Pump geometry for resonant and quasi-resonant optical excitation of microcavity lasers

A simple new pump geometry for optical excitation of microcavities and vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers is presented. The technique circumvents the high reflectivity of the cavity stop band by excitation through the substrate at a large angle of incidence. Under these conditions, the reflectivity of the bottom Bragg reflector is small, and optical pumping at any desired photon energy becomes possible. Experimental results for optical excitation with this new geometry are compared with resonant optical pumping through the cavity mode.     

Controlling the optical bistability and multistability in a two-level pumped-probe system

We study the behavior of the optical bistability (OB) and multistability (OM) in a two-level pumped-probe atomic system by means of a unidirectional ring cavity. We show that the optical bistability in a two-level atomic system can be controlled by adjusting the intensity of the pump field and the detuning between two fields. We find that applying the pumping field decreases the threshold of the optical bistability.     

Optical pumping of the electronic and nuclear spin of single charge-tunable quantum dots

We present a comprehensive examination of optical pumping of spins in individual GaAs quantum dots as we change the net charge from positive to neutral to negative with a charge-tunable heterostructure. Negative photoluminescence polarization memory is enhanced by optical pumping of ground state electron spins, which we prove with the first measurements of the Hanle effect on an individual quantum dot. We use the Overhauser effect in a high longitudinal magnetic field to demonstrate efficient optical pumping of nuclear spins for all three charge states of the quantum dot.     

电子束泵浦钙钛矿纳米晶随机激射的瞬态发光特性

为了满足瞬态光学系统对瞬时显像技术的要求,提出了一种基于钙钛矿纳米晶随机激射的瞬时发光方法.从CsPbBr3纳米晶薄膜的制备与表征出发,分析了该类有源薄膜的制备方法与手段.结合应用需要,设计了以微通道板为核心的电子束泵浦结构,并通过实验验证了CsPbBr3纳米晶薄膜在电子束泵浦下的激射效果,分析了其激射原理与物理现象.最后通过瞬时光泵浦的方法验证了CsPbBr3纳米晶薄膜的瞬时优势.该新型显像薄膜的瞬时探测系统中,不但具有较好的瞬态特性与时间分辨率,而且还可以利用电子束泵浦诱发激射来形成第二级的光放大,进而提升器件的整体探测能力.     

Rubidium vapor cell miniaturization-influence on the optical pumping process

We present a comparative study of the optical pumping process in four natural mixture Rb cells with different level of miniaturization. The influence of 2 Torr Ne gas added as buffer on the optical pumping is estimated using the fluorescence spectra on the Rb D₂-line obtained by tunable single-mode circularly-polarized diode laser. The obtained results provide basic information for optimization of alkali-cell dimensions and buffer gas pressure for further coherent spectroscopy based applications.
