Three different wall sections with step shape were applied in the finite element analysis models set up to investigate the effect on low frequency sound field by wall modification. The heights of the step in three cases are taken as equal, random and optimized. The optimized value is obtained by using an optimization process with an objective function of minimum fluctuation in sound field. The frequency responses of rooms with original and modified walls were calculated in a range from 60 Hz to 120 Hz. The results showed that the room with an optimized wall section had the flattest frequency response. Same thing was true as the ratio of the room was changed. The largest improvement on fluctuation reached 4.5 dB. In addition, wall section with semicircle and triangle were studied. The rooms that wall section had optimized radius and heights also gave a better performance than those that had fixed radius and heights. Therefore, it is possible to use optimized wall section to improve low frequency sound field.  相似文献

A theoretical treatment of sound transmission through the walls of distorted circular ducts is given, for plane mode transmission within the duct. The transmission mechanism is essentially that of “mode coupling”, whereby higher structural modes in the duct walls are excited, because of the wall distortion, by the internal sound field. The theory is in two parts: an approximate analytical model for the structural response of the walls to the internal sound field, and a structural radiation model. Computed results, based on the theory, are compared to measurements on “long-seam” air conditioning ducts. Where the duct geometry can be reliably specified, reasonably good agreement is obtained between theoretical and experimental data. It is concluded that mode coupling effects serve to account for the discrepancies between ideal and observed behaviour in sound transmission through duct walls.  相似文献

The effect of the resilience of the steel studs on the sound insulation of steel stud cavity walls can be modeled as an equivalent translational compliance in simple models for predicting the sound insulation of walls. Recent numerical calculations have shown that this equivalent translational compliance varies with frequency. This paper determines the values of the equivalent translational compliance of steel studs which make a simple sound insulation theory agree best with experimental sound insulation data for 126 steel stud cavity walls with gypsum plaster board on each side of the steel studs and sound absorbing material in the wall cavity. These values are approximately constant as a function of frequency up to 400 Hz. Above 400 Hz they decrease approximately as a non-integer power of the frequency. The equivalent translational compliance also depends on the mass per unit surface area of the cladding on each side of the steel studs and on the width of the steel studs. Above 400 Hz, this compliance also depends on the stud spacing. The best fit approximation is used with a simple sound insulation prediction model to predict the sound insulation of steel stud cavity walls whose sound insulation has been determined experimentally.  相似文献

Two numerical procedures for finding the acoustic eigenvalues in the rectangular room with arbitrary (uniform) wall impedances are developed. One numerical procedure applies Newton's method. Here, starting with soft walls, the eigenvalues are found by increasing the impedances of each wall pair in small increments up to the terminal impedances. Another procedure poses the eigenvalue problem as one of homotopic continuation from a non-physical reference configuration in which all eigenvalues are known and obvious. The continuation is performed by the numerical integration of two differential equations. The latter procedure was found to be faster and finds all possible solutions. The set of eigenvalues allowed the room modal natural frequencies and damping constants to be obtained. From sound decays measured in a hard-walled rectangular room, and from the collective-modal-decay curve, the impedances of the hard walls are estimated. These are then used to find the reverberation times of the modes in the room with the floor lined with sound absorbing material of known acoustic impedance. It was found that a single reverberation time, for all modes, is only supported in the rectangular room with hard walls and at the higher frequency bands, consistent with Sabine's theory, which assumes a diffuse sound field. In the rectangular room with hard walls and at the lower frequency bands, and in the rectangular room with the floor lined with sound absorbing material and for all frequency bands, modes with rather distinctive reverberation times may produce sound decays not always consistent with Sabine's prediction.  相似文献

A method of allowing for the spatial sound field structure in designing the sound-absorbing structures for turbojet aircraft engine ducts is proposed. The acoustic impedance of a duct should be chosen so as to prevent the reflection of the primary sound field, which is generated by the sound source in the absence of the duct, from the duct walls.  相似文献

Although SEA is a suitable framework for predicting sound transmission through double walls it has been found that the standard method of computing the non- resonant coupling loss factor from a room to cavity underestimates the coupling. A revised model for computing this coupling loss factor is presented which gives much better agreement with measured data. This allows better predictions to be made of sound transmission through lightweight double walls.  相似文献

The sound pressure level in receiving rooms, caused by taps at the ends of pipe systems, is considered. The structure-borne sound power, from the pipes to the supporting wall, was obtained from intensity measurement of the fluid-borne sound power of the tap. The fluid-borne sound power is combined with a ratio of structure-borne sound power to fluid-borne sound power, obtained from laboratory measurements of similar pipe assemblies. Alternatively, a reception plate method is proposed, which avoids the necessity for intensity measurements. The structure-borne power into walls, to which the pipe work is attached, provides input to the standard building propagation model, which yields the predicted sound pressure level in the adjacent room.  相似文献

The author has published equations for predicting the air borne sound transmission of double leaf cavity walls due to the structure borne sound transmission across the air cavity via (possibly resilient) line connections, but has never published the full derivation of these equations. The author also derived equations for the case when the connections are rigid point connections but has never used them or published them or their derivations. This paper will present the full derivation of the author's theory of the air borne sound transmission of double leaf cavity walls due to the structure borne sound transmission across the air cavity via point or line connections which are modeled as four pole networks. The theoretical results will be compared with experimental results on wooden stud cavity walls from the National Research Council of Canada because the screw spacing is given for these results. This enables connections via studs and screws to be modeled as point connections and avoids the need to make any assumptions about the compliance of the equivalent point or line connections.  相似文献

Expressions for calculating the directional characteristics of an array of sound receivers positioned in a waveguide with impedance walls are obtained from the solution to the problem on the diffraction of a plane sound wave by the waveguide open end with impedance flanges. The waveguide can be of a finite length, and, in this case, it can be considered as an open cavity in an impedance screen. The solution of the integral equation for the sound pressure distribution over the opening area is reduced to the solution of an infinite system of algebraic equations for the coefficients of the field expansion in normal waveguide waves. Examples of calculated directional characteristics are presented for arrays with receivers positioned at different distances from the opening and for different values of the impedances of the waveguide walls and flanges.  相似文献

The problem of sound decay in a rectangular room is considered for the case of a room with walls the acoustic properties of which are described by the impedance, which implies a dependence of the absorption coefficient on the angle of incidence of sound waves. The ray approximation is used to determine the sound decay laws for different distributions of wall absorption. It is shown that, in a room with impedance walls, the sound decay is slower than in the conventional reverberation model, in which the wall absorption coefficient is independent of the angle of incidence. The problem is also solved in the wave approximation to determine the decay law for a preset frequency band.  相似文献

The influence of random mass density and velocity fields on the frequencies and amplitudes of the sound waves that propagate along a constant gravity field is examined in the limit of weak random fields, small amplitude oscillations and a weakly stratified medium. Using a perturbative method, we derive dispersion relations from which we conclude that the effect of a space-dependent random mass density field is to attenuate sound waves. Frequencies of these waves are higher than in the case of a coherent medium. A time-dependent random mass density field increases frequencies and amplifies the sounds waves. On the other hand, a space-dependent random flow reduces the wave frequencies and attenuates the sound waves. The time-dependent random flow raises the frequencies of the sound waves and amplifies their amplitudes. In the limit of the gravity-free medium the above results are in an agreement with the former findings.  相似文献

Sound propagation in and around railway line cuttings is in many cases dominated by multiple reflections between train body and cutting wall or between the cutting walls. Typical situations were examined by a large number of scale model experiments. Based on these results a simple empirical calculation scheme was deduced to estimate sound fields in the surroundings of railway line cuttings. The basic idea is to compose the sound field from three parts: the direct sound from the wheels, first order specular reflections and a diffuse sound portion that is emitted from the upper edges of the train body. The scheme can easily be incorporated into existing railway noise models.  相似文献

The sound generated by a vortex propagating across a two-dimensional duct section with flexible walls (membranes) in an infinitely long rigid duct conveying a flow is investigated numerically using the matched asymptotic expansion technique and the potential theory. The effects of the initial vortex position, the mechanical properties of the flexible walls, and the mean flow on the sound generation are examined in detail. Results show that the presence of a vortex inside a uniform mean flow can strengthen or attenuate the sound generation, depending on the phase of the membrane vibration when the vortex starts vigorous interaction with the membranes and the strength of the mean flow. The results tend to imply that there is a higher chance of sound amplification when a vortex stream is moving closer to the lighter membrane under a relatively strong mean flow or when the mean flow is weak. The chances of sound amplification or attenuation are equal otherwise.  相似文献

This paper reports on an evaluation of ratings of the sound insulation of simulated walls in terms of the intelligibility of speech transmitted through the walls. Subjects listened to speech modified to simulate transmission through 20 different walls with a wide range of sound insulation ratings, with constant ambient noise. The subjects' mean speech intelligibility scores were compared with various physical measures to test the success of the measures as sound insulation ratings. The standard Sound Transmission Class (STC) and Weighted Sound Reduction Index ratings were only moderately successful predictors of intelligibility scores, and eliminating the 8 dB rule from STC led to very modest improvements. Various previously established speech intelligibility measures (e.g., Articulation Index or Speech Intelligibility Index) and measures derived from them, such as the Articulation Class, were all relatively strongly related to speech intelligibility scores. In general, measures that involved arithmetic averages or summations of decibel values over frequency bands important for speech were most strongly related to intelligibility scores. The two most accurate predictors of the intelligibility of transmitted speech were an arithmetic average transmission loss over the frequencies from 200 to 2.5 kHz and the addition of a new spectrum weighting term to R(w) that included frequencies from 400 to 2.5 kHz.  相似文献

An experimentally validated finite element method is used to model the sound level in rooms at low frequencies. It is demonstrated that the dimensions of rectangular rooms strongly influence the sound pressure level difference. Additional factors were investigated which are not normally considered in the frequency range where diffuse sound field conditions can be assumed. Three effects were investigated: room damping due to wall vibrations, furniture, the effect of small deviations from simple rectangular shapes. It is confirmed by field measurements that the vibrations of masonry walls and floors introduce less damping than surfaces of lightweight construction. Assigning to the FE model a damping equivalent to a surface absorption of 0.02 reproduces the effect of walls of heavyweight construction. Damping equivalent to a surface absorption of 0.15 reproduces the effects of plastered timber-frame walls, floors and ceilings. The work was briefly extended to a room pair built with heavyweight and lightweight material of construction. The modification of the shape of the room frequency response highlights well the effect of material of construction. In-situ and laboratory measurements show that furniture has little effect on steady-state room response below 100 Hz. Modelling a wall recess smaller than 0.5 m improved the agreement between prediction and measurements but the assumption of a simple rectangular room remains appropriate.  相似文献

This review presents both classical and new results of the theory of sound propagation in media with random inhomogeneities of sound speed, density and medium velocity (mainly in the atmosphere and ocean). An equation for a sound wave in a moving inhomogeneous medium is presented, which has a wider range of applicability than those used before. Starting from this equation, the statistical characteristics of the sound field in a moving random medium are calculated using Born-approximation, ray, Rytov and parabolic-equation methods, and the theory of multiple scattering. The results obtained show, in particular, that certain equations previously widely used in the theory of sound propagation in moving random media must now be revised. The theory presented can be used not only to calculate the statistical characteristics of sound waves in the turbulent atmosphere or ocean but also to solve inverse problems and develop new remote-sensing methods. A number of practical problems of sound propagation in moving random media are listed and the further development of this field of acoustics is considered.  相似文献

The construction and performance of an acoustic chamber suitable for sound intensity measurements is described. The walls and the ceiling of the room are treated with glass wool sheets, air gap and pleated carpet in that order for sound absorption. The final testing of the room shows that good sound absorption is obtained down to low frequencies. The sound absorption coefficient for the room varies between 0.83 and 0.91 for different frequencies.  相似文献

Abstract

相似文献
