We present a method to derive Bell monogamy relations by connecting the complementarity principle with quantum nonlocality. The resulting monogamy relations are stronger than those obtained from the no-signaling principle alone. In many cases, they yield tight quantum bounds on the amount of violation of single and multiple qubit correlation Bell inequalities. In contrast with the two-qubit case, a rich structure of possible violation patterns is shown to exist in the multipartite scenario.  相似文献

Bell’s theorem has been widely argued to show that some of the predictions of quantum mechanics which are obtained by applying the Born’s rule to a class of entangled states, are not compatible with any local-causal statistical model, via the violation of Bell’s inequalities. On the other hand, in the previous works, we have shown that quantum dynamics and kinematics are emergent from a statistical model that is singled out uniquely by the principle of Locality. Here we shall show that the local-causal model supports entangled states and give the statistical origin of their generation. We then study the Stern-Gerlach experiment to show that the Born’s rule can also be derived as a mathematical theorem in the local-causal model. These results lead us to argue that nonlocality is not responsible for the quantum mechanical and most importantly experimental violation of Bell’s inequalities. The source(s) of violation has to be sought somewhere else.  相似文献

We investigate the quantum transport in a generalized N-particle Hanbury Brown-Twiss setup enclosing magnetic flux, and demonstrate that the Nth-order cumulant of current cross correlations exhibits Aharonov-Bohm oscillations, while there is no such oscillation in all the lower-order cumulants. The multiparticle interference results from the orbital Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger entanglement of N indistinguishable particles. For sufficiently strong Aharonov-Bohm oscillations the generalized Bell inequalities may be violated, proving the N-particle quantum nonlocality.  相似文献

Arpan Das et al. proposed a set of new Bell inequalities (Das et al., 2017 [16]) for a three-qubit system and claimed that each inequality within this set is violated by all generalized Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GGHZ) states. We investigate experimentally the new inequalities in the three-photon GGHZ class states. Since the inequalities are symmetric under the identical particles system, we chose one Bell-type inequality from the set arbitrarily. The experimental data well verified the theoretical prediction. Moreover, the experimental results show that the amount of violation of the new Bell inequality against locality realism increases monotonically following the increase of the tangle of the GGHZ state. The most profound physical essence revealed by the results is that the nonlocality of GGHZ state correlate with three tangles directly.  相似文献

Quantum entanglement and quantum nonlocality of N-photon entangled states |\psiN m\rangle =Cm[\cos\gamma|N-m\rangle1|m\rangle2 +\e{\i\θm}\sin\gamma|m\rangle1|N-m\rangle2] and their superpositions are studied. We point out that the relative phase θm affects the quantum nonlocality but not the quantum entanglement for the state |\psiN m\rangle. We show that quantum nonlocality can be controlled and manipulated by adjusting the state parameters of |\psiN m\rangle, superposition coefficients, and the azimuthal angles of the Bell operator. We also show that the violation of the Bell inequality can reach its maximal value under certain conditions. It is found that quantum superpositions based on |\psiN m\rangle can increase the amount of entanglement, and give more ways to reach the maximal violation of the Bell inequality.  相似文献

We show that the rich structure of multipartite entanglement can be tested following a device-independent approach. Specifically we present Bell inequalities for distinguishing between different types of multipartite entanglement, without placing any assumptions on the measurement devices used in the protocol, in contrast with usual entanglement witnesses. We first address the case of three qubits and present Bell inequalities that can be violated by W states but not by Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states, and vice versa. Next, we devise 'subcorrelation Bell inequalities' for any number of parties, which can provably not be violated by a broad class of multipartite entangled states (generalizations of Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states), but for which violations can be obtained for W states. Our results give insight into the nonlocality of W states. The simplicity and robustness of our tests make them appealing for experiments.  相似文献

Entanglement, the Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen (EPR) paradox and Bell’s failure of local-hiddenvariable (LHV) theories are three historically famous forms of “quantum nonlocality”. We give experimental criteria for these three forms of nonlocality in multi-particle systems, with the aim of better understanding the transition from microscopic to macroscopic nonlocality. We examine the nonlocality of N separated spin J systems. First, we obtain multipartite Bell inequalities that address the correlation between spin values measured at each site, and then we review spin squeezing inequalities that address the degree of reduction in the variance of collective spins. The latter have been particularly useful as a tool for investigating entanglement in Bose–Einstein condensates (BEC). We present solutions for two topical quantum states: multi-qubit Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) states, and the ground state of a two-well BEC.  相似文献

In this paper, we will explore the essence of the phenomenon that state with less entanglement may generate greater Bell violation in the two-qubit Bell tests with CH-type inequalities, i.e., more nonlocality with less entanglement. We will show that this interesting but counterintuitive phenomenon is caused by the rotational asymmetry of the nonmaximally entangled state in the measurement plane. This asymmetry allows the both-side detection probabilities and the one-side detection probabilities obtain their maximal values with nonmaximally entangled state. But the maximal Bell violation may not always happen on nonmaximally entangled state, because these probabilities will compete with each other, and the Bell violation behaves differently for various CH-type inequalities.  相似文献

We investigate the nonlocality of Schmidt-correlated (SC) states, and present analytical expressions of the maximum violation value of Bell inequalities. It is shown that the violation of Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt (CHSH) inequality is necessary and sufficient for the nonlocality of two-qubit SC states, whereas the violation of the Svetlichny inequality is only a sufficient condition for the genuine nonlocality of three-qubit SC states. Furthermore, the relations among the maximum violation values, concurrence, and relative entropy entanglement are discussed.  相似文献

We present generic Bell inequalities for multipartite arbitrary dimensional systems. The inequalities that any local realistic theory must obey are violated by quantum mechanics for even dimensional systems. A large set of variants are shown to naturally emerge from the generic Bell inequalities. We discuss particular variants of Bell inequalities that are violated for all the systems including odd dimensional systems.  相似文献

Research in the application of quantum structures to cognitive science confirms that these structures quite systematically appear in the dynamics of concepts and their combinations and quantum-based models faithfully represent experimental data of situations where classical approaches are problematical. In this paper, we analyze the data we collected in an experiment on a specific conceptual combination, showing that Bell’s inequalities are violated in the experiment. We present a new refined entanglement scheme to model these data within standard quantum theory rules, where ‘entangled measurements and entangled evolutions’ occur, in addition to the expected ‘entangled states’, and present a full quantum representation in complex Hilbert space of the data. This stronger form of entanglement in measurements and evolutions might have relevant applications in the foundations of quantum theory, as well as in the interpretation of nonlocality tests. It could indeed explain some non-negligible ‘anomalies’ identified in EPR-Bell experiments.  相似文献

The theorem of Bell states that certain results of quantum mechanics violate inequalities that are valid for objective local random variables. We show that the inequalities of Bell are special cases of theorems found 10 years earlier by Bass and stated in full generality by Vorob’ev. This fact implies precise necessary and sufficient mathematical conditions for the validity of the Bell inequalities. We show that these precise conditions differ significantly from the definition of objective local variable spaces and as an application that the Bell inequalities may be violated even for objective local random variables.  相似文献

We show that bipartite Bell inequalities based on the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen criterion for elements of reality and derived from the properties of some hyperentangled states allow feasible experimental verification of the fact that quantum nonlocality grows exponentially with the size of the subsystems, and Bell loophole-free tests with currently available photodetection efficiencies.  相似文献

Nonlocality, as an essential, subtle and intriguing aspect of nature, has many different facets and manifestations. In quantum information theory, nonlocality is usually defined, characterized and quantified in the framework of entanglement and violation of certain Bell inequalities. An exciting phenomenon concerning entanglement-related nonlocality is the superactivation, symbolized as "0+0>0", which means that two systems, while do not possess nonlocality individually by themselves, may exhibit nonlocality when combined together in an independent fashion. In this work, we explore nonlocality from the measurement perspective and reveal the superactivation of measurement-induced nonlocality (MIN): When two bipartite states with vanishing MIN are combined together, the tensorizing state may possess non-zero MIN. Implications and applications are discussed.  相似文献

The effect of the non-Markovian dynamics on the violation of Bell inequalities for a generic tripartite entangled state has been investigated. Our results imply that the dynamics of Bell violation depends not only on the coupling strengths between the system and the environment but also on the rotation angles. Under both the strong and weak couplings, the Bell nonlocality can be eliminated by the decoherence induced by the environment in finite time when the rotation angles take certain values.  相似文献

We investigate the nonlocal properties of graph states. To this aim, we derive a family of Bell inequalities which require three measurement settings for each party and are maximally violated by graph states. In turn, for each graph state there is an inequality maximally violated only by that state. We show that for certain types of graph states the violation of these inequalities increases exponentially with the number of qubits. We also discuss connections to other entanglement properties such as the positivity of the partial transpose or the geometric measure of entanglement.  相似文献

In derivating of Bell’s inequalities, the probability distribution is supposed to be a function only of a hidden variable. We point out that the true implication of the probability distribution of Bell’s correlation function is the distribution of joint measurement outcomes on the two sides. It is therefore a function of both the hidden variable and the settings. In this case, Bell’s inequalities fail. Our further analysis shows that Bell’s locality holds neither for dependent events nor for independent events. We think that the measurements of EPR pairs are dependent events, and hence violation of Bell’s inequalities cannot rule out the existence of local hidden variable. To explain the results of EPR-type experiments, we suppose that a polarization-entangled photon pair can be composed of two circularly or linearly polarized photons with correlated hidden variables, and a couple of experiments of quantum measurement are proposed. The first uses delayed measurement on one photon of the EPR pair to demonstrate directly whether measurement on the other could have any nonlocal influence on it. Then several experiments are suggested to reveal the components of the polarization-entangled photon pair. The last one uses successive polarization measurements on a pair of EPR photons to show that two photons with the same quantum state behave the same under the same measuring conditions.  相似文献
