Non-wettable surfaces with high contact angles and facile sliding angle of water droplets have received tremendous attention in recent years. The present paper describes the room temperature (∼27 °C) synthesis of dip coated water repellent silica coatings on glass substrates using iso-butyltrimethoxysilane (iso-BTMS) as a co-precursor. Emphasis is given to the influence of the hydrophobic reagent (iso-BTMS) on the water repellent properties of the silica films. Silica sol was prepared by keeping the molar ratio of tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) precursor, methanol (MeOH) solvent, water (H2O) constant at 1:16.53:8.26 respectively, with 0.01 M NH4F throughout the experiment and the molar ratio of iso-BTMS/TEOS (M) was varied from 0 to 0.965. The effect of M on the surface structure and hydrophobicity has been researched. The static water contact angle values of the silica films increased from 65° to 140° and water sliding angle values decreased from 42° to 16° with an increase in the M value from 0 to 0.965. The water repellent silica films are thermally stable up to a temperature of 280 °C and above this temperature the film shows hydrophilic behavior. The water repellent silica films were characterized by the Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) Spectroscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), % of optical transmission, thermal and chemical aging tests, humidity tests, static and dynamic water contact angle measurements.  相似文献

Field emission property of printed CNTs-mixed ZnO nanoneedles   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
ZnO nanoneedles were synthesized via thermal evaporation method without any catalyst. Scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy investigations showed that these products presented a nanoneedle structure. To enhance the field emission (FE) properties of screen printed ZnO nanoneedles, a given amount (0.05 g) carbon nanotubes (CNTs) mixed with (0.5 g) ZnO nanoneedles paste via screen printed method and heat-treatment at (600 °C, 500 °C and 450 °C) was presented. The CNTs-mixed ZnO nanoneedles heat-treated at 450 °C had the lowest turn-on field of 3.75 V/μm, highest field emission current of 0.16 mA at 7.5 V/μm and highest β of 830. An efficiency FE enhancement of 450 °C sample was attributed to melioration of conductance between ZnO nanoneedles and ITO surface by CNTs.  相似文献

Al-N-codoped ZnO films were fabricated by RF magnetron sputtering in the ambient of N2 and O2 on silicon (1 0 0) and homo-buffer layer, subsequently, annealed in O2 at low pressure. X-ray diffraction (XRD) spectra show that as-grown and 600 °C annealed films grown by codoping method are prolonged along crystal c-axis. However, they are not prolonged in (0 0 1) plane vertical to c-axis. The films annealed at 800 °C are not prolonged in any directions. Codoping makes ZnO films unidirectional variation. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) shows that Al content hardly varies and N escapes with increasing annealing temperature from 600 °C to 800 °C.  相似文献

Superhydrophobic thin films were prepared on glass by air-brushing the in situ polymerization compositions of D5/SiO2. The wettability and morphology were investigated by contact angle measurement and scanning electron microscopy. The most superhydrophobic samples prepared had a static water contact angle of 157° for a 5 μl droplet and a sliding angle of ∼1° for 10 μl droplet. Thermal stability analysis showed that the surface maintained superhydrophobic at temperature up to 450 °C. Air trapping and capillary force on superhydrophobic behavior were evaluated.  相似文献

Crack free and smooth surfaces of poly [4,5-difluoro 2,2-bis (trifluoromethyl)-(1,3 dioxole)-co-tetrafluoroethylene] (TFE-co-TFD) thin films have been deposited by wet chemical dip coating technique on polished quartz and glass slide substrates. The deposited films have been subjected to annealing at different temperatures ranging from 100 to 500 °C for 1 h in argon atmosphere. The elemental composition of the as-deposited (xerogel) thin film as well as film annealed at 400 °C was measured by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and observed that there was no change in the composition of the film. X-ray diffraction pattern revealed the amorphous behaviour of both as-deposited and film annealed at 400 °C. Surface morphology and elemental composition of the films have been examined by employing scanning electron microscopy attached with energy dispersive X-ray analyser, respectively. It was found that as the annealing temperature increased from 100 to 400 °C, nano-hemisphere-like structures have been grown, which in turn has shown increase in the water contact angle from 122o to 148o and oil (peanut) contact angle from 85° to 96°. No change in the water contact angle (122°) has been observed when the films deposited at room temperature were heated in air from 30 to 80 °C as well as exposed to steam for 8 days for 8 h/day indicating thermal stability of the film.  相似文献

ZnO thin films were epitaxially grown on sapphire (0 0 0 1) substrates by radio frequency magnetron sputtering. ZnO thin films were then annealed at different temperatures in air and in various atmospheres at 800 °C, respectively. The effect of the annealing temperature and annealing atmosphere on the structure and optical properties of ZnO thin films are investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM), photoluminescence (PL). A strong (0 0 2) diffraction peak of all ZnO thin films shows a polycrystalline hexagonal wurtzite structure and high preferential c-axis orientation. XRD and AFM results reveal that the better structural quality, relatively smaller tensile stress, smooth, uniform of ZnO thin films were obtained when annealed at 800 °C in N2. Room temperature PL spectrum can be divided into the UV emission and the Visible broad band emission. The UV emission can be attributed to the near band edge emission (NBE) and the Visible broad band emission can be ascribed to the deep level emissions (DLE). By analyzing our experimental results, we recommend that the deep-level emission correspond to oxygen vacancy (VO) and interstitial oxygen (Oi). The biggest ratio of the PL intensity of UV emission to that of visible emission (INBE/IDLE) is observed from ZnO thin films annealed at 800 °C in N2. Therefore, we suggest that annealing temperature of 800 °C and annealing atmosphere of N2 are the most suitable annealing conditions for obtaining high quality ZnO thin films with good luminescence performance.  相似文献

Using composition-spread technique, we have grown metastable Mg1−xCaxO solid solution films on ZnO layers by pulsed laser deposition. All the films exhibited (1 1 1) oriented cubic phase. Despite a large miscibility gap, no phase separation took place at growth temperatures up to 700 °C, whereas an optimal growth temperature was found at 400 °C in terms of the crystallinity. The composition-spread films were characterized by X-ray diffraction mapping technique. Both lattice parameters and diffraction intensity increased with increasing the CaO composition. The present isovalent heterointerfaces realized the perfect lattice-matching by properly adjusting the CaO composition, leading to particular interest for ZnO based field effect transistors.  相似文献

Graded TiO2 films were deposited on unheated glass substrates by using a twin dc magnetron sputtering system. The graded TiO2 films showed a highly polycrystalline structure of anatase with a little rutile phases revealed by X-ray diffraction spectra. The surface energy of the fresh and UV irradiated films were evaluated by water contact angle measurement. The results indicated that the water contact angle of the fresh graded TiO2 films was found within 100-112°. The films then became a highly hydrophilic surface with the water contact angle of almost zero under 60 min UV irradiation. The XPS spectrum of Ti 2p revealed that the graded TiO2 films became a stoichiometric titanium oxide layer near the surface, proving that titanium was fully oxidized. It was found that the surface OH group density depended on the substrates employed for given sputtering conditions. In addition, AFM images revealed a considerably rough surface of the graded films with RMS roughness of 12.6-14.5 nm. One can conclude that the unique properties of highly hydrophobicity and photo-induced hydrophilicity can be attributed to fully oxidized chemical composition and higher roughness on the film surface.  相似文献

We have studied the properties of ZnO thin films grown by laser ablation of ZnO targets on (0 0 0 1) sapphire (Al2O3), under substrate temperatures around 400 °C. The films were characterized by different methods including X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). XPS analysis revealed that the films are oxygen deficient, and XRD analysis with θ-2θ scans and rocking curves indicate that the ZnO thin films are highly c-axis oriented. All the films are ultraviolet (UV) sensitive. Sensitivity is maximum for the films deposited at lower temperature. The films deposited at higher temperatures show crystallite sizes of typically 500 nm, a high dark current and minimum photoresponse. In all films we observe persistent photoconductivity decay. More densely packed crystallites and a faster decay in photocurrent is observed for films deposited at lower temperature.  相似文献

We have studied the wettability of sputter deposited ZnO, thermally oxidized Zn-ZnO and vacuum annealed ZnO coatings. The X-ray diffraction patterns showed the formation of hexagonal-wurtzite structure of ZnO, which was further confirmed by micro-Raman spectroscopy data. The X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy data indicated that the sputter deposited ZnO coatings were more stoichiometric than thermally oxidized Zn-ZnO and vacuum annealed ZnO coatings. The wettability measurements indicated that water contact angles of 158.5° and 155.2° with sliding angles of 2° and 4° were achieved for thermally oxidized Zn-ZnO and vacuum annealed ZnO coatings, respectively. The superhydrophobicity observed in thermally oxidized Zn-ZnO and vacuum annealed coatings is attributed to the nanorod cluster like morphology along with the presence of high fraction of micron scale air pockets. The water droplet on such surfaces is mostly in contact with air pockets rather than solid surface, leading to high contact angle. Whereas, the sputter deposited ZnO coatings exhibited a maximum water contact angle of 110.3°. This is because the sputter deposited ZnO coatings exhibited a densely packed nanograin-like microstructure without any air pockets. The work of adhesion of water was very low for thermally oxidized Zn-ZnO (5.06 mJ/m2) and vacuum annealed ZnO coatings (6.71 mJ/m2) when compared to reactively sputtered ZnO coatings (90.41 mJ/m2). The apparent surface free energy (SFE) for these coatings was calculated using Neumann method and the SFE values for sputter deposited ZnO, thermally oxidized Zn-ZnO and vacuum annealed ZnO coatings were 32.95, 23.21 and 18.78 mJ/m2, respectively.  相似文献
