An axiomatic approach to quantum mechanics is proposed in terms of a logic scheme satisfying a suitable set of axioms. In this context the notion of pure, maximal, and characteristic state as well as the superposition relation and the superposition principle for the states are studied. The role the superposition relation plays in the reversible and in the irreversible dynamics is investigated and its connection with the tensor product is studied. Throughout the paper, theW *-algebra model, which satisfies our axioms, is used to exemplify results and properties of the general scheme.  相似文献

A general relation between the moments of the functionsf,g, andh, in the integral equationh(x)=f(y)g(x–y) dy, is derived. This enables any moment of the unknown functionf to be calculated from the moments of the functionsg andh. In particular, if certain assumptions are fulfilled, the moments of the components of the doublet can be calculated with advantage from the moments of the total profile. The statistical significance of the moment characteristics is also emphasized.

The term frame of reference is defined for both classical physics and quantum mechanics. The definition is the usual one, simply made explicit. It is used in the study of coherent superposition, and in particular the dependence on the observer (frame of reference) of the coherence of superposition of state vectors. This dependence is then used as the basis of an analysis of a criticism of previous work on the nonexistence of superselection rules. We again reach the conclusion that they do not exist.  相似文献

Different models of luminescence centres are discussed on the basis of measurements of the composition of ZnS monocrystal photo-luminescence in different polarizations and temperature dependence of the degree of polarization. Those of the models submitted by Birman, which assume the polarization to be due to the different force of the oscillators for transitions withEc andEc, or models assuming luminescence polarization to be due to the orientation of the luminescence centres, agree with the results of experiments, i.e. the temperature independence of the degree of polarization and the conformable spectral composition of both polarizations. It is also shown that measurements made up to now of the degree of polarization must be taken as orientational as a consequence of the depolarizing influence of the diffused rays of luminescence on its value.

The mathematical formalism describing the Bose gas at zero temperature is analysed with the aid of methods that have recently been successful in relativistic quantum field theory. First the spectrum conditions for an infinitely extended system are given and the algebra of observables and the algebra of field operators are defined. General properties of states over these algebras are discussed and theorems are given which connect the linked cluster property, translation invariance and the purity of the states. It is proved that pure states over the algebra of observables have the property of factorisable off-diagonal long range order. The class of quasi free states is defined and of these states those which are translation invariant and possess the linked cluster property are analysed. It is shown that this class of states contains a subclass of pure states of the Bogoliubov type and a subclass of states which are mixtures of non-translationally invariant pure states. The applications of these quasi free states to the interacting Bose gas are summarized.  相似文献

The quantum measurement problem and various unsuccessful attempts to resolve it are reviewed. A suggestion by Diosi and Penrose for the half-life of the quantum superposition of two Newtonian gravitational fields is generalized to an arbitrary quantum superposition of relativistic, but weak, gravitational fields. The quantum theory of both linear, and interacting fields on curved space-times is discussed. It is argued that generic curved space-time situations force the adoption of the algebraic approach to quantum field theory: and a suitable formalism is presented for handling an arbitrary quasi-free state in an arbitrary globally hyperbolic space-time.For the interacting case, these quasi-free states are taken as suitable starting points, in terms of which expectation values of field operator products may be calculated to arbitrary order in perturbation theory. The formal treatment of interacting fields in perturbation theory is reduced to a treatment of free quantum fields interacting with external sources.Central to the approach is the so-called two-current operator, which characterises the effect of external sources in terms of purely algebraic (i.e. representation free) properties of the source-free theory.The paper ends with a set of Feynman rules which seems particularly appropriate to curved space-times in that it takes care of those aspects of the problem which are specific to curved space-times (and independent of interaction). Heuristically, the scheme calculates in-in rather than in-out matrix elements.
