According to Order-Disorder Model (ODM), in the early stages of fission, the charges in a fissioning nucleus gets polarised into two impending parts along with corresponding most stable neutrons which are calculated from the minimum in isobaric mass parabola. This polarisation into two most stable configuration leaves a small number of neutrons as balance neutrons i.e.N bal. The distribution of theseN bal for various polarisation modes, shows a very profound correlation with the yield distribution. Judging from this striking correlation between these two distributions, it can be predicted that the asymmetry in fission decreases gradually and ultimately disappear for nuclei havingZ ⋍ 102 but reappears again for the nuclei in super heavy region.  相似文献

A new type of neutron resonance spin flipper (RSF) with high frequency oscillating magnetic field has been developed for Modulated IntEnsity by Zero Effort (MIEZE) spectrometer at cold neutron beam line MINE1 at JRR-3M reactor in JAEA. Dipole magnets enable us to provide the strong static fields for the RSFs. MIEZE signals have been demonstrated with the effective frequency of 600 kHz by using the new RSFs. The contrast of the signals was 0.58. The MIEZE spectrometer is under final process to practical use. The spectrometers can also be applied to the pulsed neutrons like J-PARC.  相似文献

The use of annihilation-in-flight of arbitrarily polarised positrons with arbitrarily polarised electrons as an analyser for the positron polarisation from muon decay is discussed. Analysing powers for the longitudinal and the two transverse positron polarisation components are derived and algorithms for the simulation of polarised muon decay and of annihilation-in-flight are given. 为节省极化中子散射谱仪传输光路的空间,实现特定冷中子谱的极化中子高效率自旋翻转,使用在空间上自然衰减的前端多层膜极化器静磁场作为中子自旋倒相器的导向磁场,在空间上形成了紧凑型冷中子自旋倒相器设计模型。介绍了实际模型物理参数的计算方法。对前端极化器静磁场在空间上的自然衰减进行了实验测试,根据测试结果及拟使用冷中子波段,针对设计的紧凑型中子自旋倒相器的相关参数进行了优化计算。模拟了极化中子在实际复合磁场中的自旋翻转图像,计算了自旋倒相器的翻转效率。对设计的紧凑型中子自旋倒相器进行了翻转效率物理实验测试,测试结果表明:设计的中子自旋倒相器翻转效率可在99.2%以上,达到了预期设计指标,可用于极化冷中子散射谱仪。  相似文献

We discuss the development and characterisation of a new in situ spin exchange optical pumping (SEOP) based 3He neutron spin filter polarisation device. We present results from a recent test of the prototype system developed with the Institut Laue-Langevin. The polariser was installed on the polarised reflectometer CRISP at ISIS in the analyser position. The 3He was pumped continuously in situ on the beamline. The system also integrated a 3He adiabatic fast passage spin flipper that allowed reversal of the 3He and therefore neutron polarisation state, allowing for measurement of all four polarisation cross-sections. The system was run for a number of days reaching a 3He polarisation of 63%.  相似文献

A commercial electron spin analyser, based on spin-polarised low-energy electron diffraction (SPLEED) from W(1 0 0), has been characterised with incident polarised electron beams from a standard GaAs polarised electron source. The dependence of the Sherman function on the scattering energy and elapse time after CO-flash of the tungsten crystal of the analyser have been measured. The influence of the stray magnetic field on the performance of the analyser has been investigated. The spin analyser has been applied in monitoring the reorientation transition of the easy magnetisation direction of Fe films on W(1 1 0) upon the exposure of CO adsorbent on the surface.  相似文献

The order-disorder model has been used to explain asymmetry of mass and charge division and related phenomena in fission. According to this model the fission process involves two steps consisting of charge polarisation into two ‘impending fragment clusters’ with beta stable neutron numbers and subsequent distribution of the balance neutrons between the two. Mode of elemental division of the fissioning nuclei is attributed to the charge polarisation in the first step. Theory of reaction rate has been applied to the system. The frequency term is obtained by applying the conditional stochastic process under charge polarisation constraint and the energy-dependent term is given by the condition of minimum in free energy of the system. Using this, the relative probability of polarisation into given charge pair is arrived at. The model uses stable neutron numbers for the charges as the only input. No explicit assumption or quantification on the preference of formation of shell closure species in fission is necessary. The statistics developed on the principle of equala priori probability of all charge polarisation is used. The shell effects come into play only in deciding a stable neutron number for the charges. The total isotopic yield distribution for a number of fission reactions shows asymmetry in the actinide region which reduces with increasing mass/charge of the fissioning nuclide and bunching of the higherz peaks. Although the mass yields obtained therefrom for a number of fission reactions agree with experimental results, the peaks of the distributions are slightly shifted away from the symmetric point and the distributions are somewhat narrower. Charge distribution parameters obtained from these results are also presented.  相似文献

USANSPOL is a novel ultra-small-angle scattering technique with polarised neutrons for investigation of magnetic materials. It represents a polarised neutron extension to traditional USANS which works with unpolarised neutrons. The high angular resolution of this technique relies on the narrow reflection width of perfect crystal reflections and is employed in a double-crystal diffractometer. Corresponding to the μrad resolution of the set-up, micro-structures of the order of a few tenths of a micrometre up to a few tens of micrometres may be investigated. Neutron polarisation is achieved by insertion of birefringent magnetic prisms between the monochromator crystal and the sample. Rocking the analyser crystal produces a scattering pattern for both neutron spin states in a single measurement but well separated in reciprocal space. By this technique, we have recently studied various amorphous Galfenol soft-magnetic ribbons which were produced by spinning from melt at different manufacturing conditions. USANSPOL allows for a determination of domain sizes of the non-magnetised samples and a study of the growing of magnetically homogeneous regions with increasing externally applied magnetic field. The manufacturing process of the ribbons is reflected in the magnetic micro-structure of the different specimens.  相似文献

Although the polarisation of the light was discovered at the beginning of the nineteenth century, the Vikings could have used the polarised light around the tenth century in their navigation to America, using a ‘sunstone’ evoked in the Icelandic Sagas. Indeed, the birefringence of the Iceland spar (calcite), a common crystal in Scandinavia, permits a simple observation of the axis of polarisation of the skylight at the zenith. From this, it is possible to guess the azimuth of a hidden Sun below the horizon, for instance. The high sensitivity of the differential method provided by the ordinary and extraordinary beams of calcite at its so-called isotropy point is about two orders higher than that of the best dichroic polariser and permits to reach an accuracy of ±1° for the Sun azimuth (at sunrise and sunset). Unfortunately, due to the relative fragility of calcite, only the so-called Alderney crystal was discovered on board a 16th ancient ship. Curiously, beyond its use as a sunstone by the Vikings, during these last millennia calcite has led to the discovery of the polarisation of the light itself by Malus and is currently being used to detect the atmospheres of exoplanets. Moreover, the differential method for the light polarisation detection is widely used in the animal world.  相似文献

It is well known that upon passage through a spatially alternating transverse magnetic field, produced by a meander-shaped conducting foil, in its rest frame each neutron creates its individual frequency which depends on its velocity and the period of the meander. A resonant spin flip process takes place, if this frequency equals the Larmor frequency determined by a homogeneous vertical field. Clearly, this effect can be used to monochromatise a polarised neutron beam. Here we propose a novel design of such a magnetic resonator consisting of a sequence of separate compact modules, which provide high homogeneity of the transversal field oscillations and allow rapid beam chopping since they meet the specifications of fast electronic switching. The wavelength resolution of this resonator device can be changed in an instant and likewise an arbitrary amplitude modulation of the transversal field can be established, which is required for an efficient suppression of subsidiary maxima of the wavelength-dependent spin flip probability.  相似文献

Relaxation plays a crucial role in the spin dynamics of dynamic nuclear polarisation. We review here two different strategies that have recently been used to incorporate relaxation in models to predict the spin dynamics of solid effect dynamic nuclear polarisation. A detailed explanation is provided on how the Lindblad–Kossakowski form of the master equation can be used to describe relaxation in a spin system. Fluctuations of the spin interactions with the environment as a cause of relaxation are discussed and it is demonstrated how the relaxation superoperator acting in Liouville space on the density operator can be derived in the Lindblad–Kossakowski form by averaging out non-secular terms in an appropriate interaction frame. Furthermore we provide a formalism for the derivation of the relaxation superoperator starting with a choice of a basis set in Hilbert space. We show that the differences in the prediction of the nuclear polarisation dynamics that are found for certain parameter choices arise from the use of different interaction frames in the two different strategies. In addition, we provide a summary of different relaxation mechanisms that need to be considered to obtain more realistic spin dynamic simulations of solid effect dynamic nuclear polarisation.  相似文献

Multi-meson final states such as γp→pπ~0π~0 and γp → pπ~0η have been investigated with the Crystal-Barrel/TAPS experiment at ELSA. Baryon cascades via △π and △η and also via higher mass baryon resonances are clearly observed. Based on this data and on data from other reactions a partial wave analysis has been performed from which partial decay widths of various N~* and △~* states into the different pπ~0π~0 and pπ~0η decay channels have been determined, leading partly to unexpected results. In addition, polarisation observables have been investigated. The beam asymmetry Σ has been determined for both reactions and double polarisation data using a longitudinally polarised target and a circularly or linearly polarised photon beam has been taken. Given the angular coverage of the Crystal-Barrel/TAPS experiment this data covers almost the full angular range and phase space. This data will provide new and important information for the partial wave analyses and bring us one step closer towards a complete experiment.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

A method is proposed to manipulate electron spin order of spin-correlated radical pairs. As radical pairs are often born in a well-defined spin state, e.g. in the singlet state, they acquire Chemically Induced Dynamic Electron Polarisation (CIDEP). In the case of singlet-state preparation CIDEP is of the multiplet (or anti-phase) type resulting in reduction of EPR (electron paramagnetic resonance) signals due to overlap of absorptive and emissive lines in the spectrum. Here we propose to convert the singlet spin order into net magnetisation of the radical pair by applying a microwave field, with its amplitude slowly (adiabatically) reduced to zero. We demonstrate that by properly choosing the microwave frequency one can completely convert the singlet order into net polarisation of the radical pair with significant enhancement of the signal as compared to multiplet CIDEP. Calculations show that the technique is operative for both weakly coupled and strongly coupled spin pairs. Potential applications of the method are discussed.  相似文献

The degree of polarisation of the output beam is seen to be less than of the of the standard deviation of the profile on the degree of polarisation of the output has been considered. Spatiotemporal dynamics of the polarisation state of laser radiation performed by lens-axicon combinations were investigated theoretically and numerically in the paraxial regime. We demonstrate that in this case, while the static polarisation state does not change, various features are observed in the temporal dynamics, including spiral trajectories of the field components, transformation of the polarisation state and the “disappearance” of the light field at some time moments of the harmonic period. The results obtained can be useful for understanding the effects of spatiotemporal polarisation transformations of laser radiation, which is crucial in the field of ultrastrong and ultrashort laser-matter interactions.  相似文献

A polarised neutron scattering investigation has been carried out on a powder sample of CuGeO3 within the temperature range of 1.5 K to 600 K. The magnetic scattering has been separated from all other contributions by using polarised neutrons and polarisation analysis and placed onto an absolute scale. At low temperatures the long wavelength components of the paramagnetic response are suppressed consistent with the formation of Cu dimers in which the magnetic moments are correlated antiferromagnetically. This form of the scattering persists to temperatures well above the dimerisation temperature T sp ∼ 14 K. However as the temperature is raised the intensity of the long wavelength spin fluctuations increases and above 150 K they are the dominant feature in the wave vector dependence of the response. At all temperatures the observed scattering extrapolates smoothly to the Q = 0 value given by the uniform susceptibility. Consequently the thermal variation of the uniform susceptibility arises from the evolution of the long wavelength magnetic fluctuations. At large wave vectors the energy dependence of the scattering revealed that the response occurs below 16 meV in agreement with the reported maximum magnetic excitation energy at the zone boundary in the ground state. However the total magnetic scattering is significantly less than that expected for a local moment system suggesting that the spectrum of thermal and quantum fluctuations overlap.
