Low thermal quenching and high-efficiency Ca3Sc2Si3O12:Ce3+ (CSSO:Ce3+) phosphors with co-doping Tb3+ ion were prepared by a solid state method and the properties of these phosphors were investigated. The results showed that co-doping of Tb3+ not only enhances the photoluminescence remarkably and decreases the thermal quenching of the phosphor, but also heightens the performances of the LEDs fabricated with the phosphor. A high-efficiency and low color temperature white LED was fabricated with the prepared CSSO:1%Ce3+, 0.5%Tb3+ and a red phosphor, indicating that CSSO:1%Ce3+,0.5%Tb3+ phosphor is a suitable green phosphor for the fabrication of high-efficiency white LEDs.  相似文献

The spectroscopic properties in UV-excitable range for the phosphors of Sr3La2(BO3)4:RE3+ (RE3+=Eu3+, Ce3+, Tb3+) were investigated. The phosphors were synthesized by conventional solid-state reactions. The photoluminescence (PL) spectra and commission international de I'Eclairage (CIE) coordinates of Sr3La2(BO3)4:RE3+ were investigated. The f-d transitions of Eu3+, Ce3+ and Tb3+ in the host lattices are assumed and corroborated. The PL and PL excitation (PLE) spectra indicate that the main emission wavelength of Sr3La2(BO3)4:Eu3+ is 611 nm, and Sr3La2(BO3)4:Ce3+ shows dominating emission peak at 425 nm, while Sr3La2(BO3)4:Tb3+ displays green emission at 487, 542, 582 and 620 nm. These phosphors were prepared by simple solid-state reaction at 1000 °C. There are lower reactive temperature and more convenient than commercial phosphors. The Sr3La2(BO3)4:Tb3+ applied to cold cathode fluorescent lamp was found to emit green light and have a major peak wavelength at around 542 nm. These phosphors may provide a new kind of luminescent materials under ultraviolet excitation.  相似文献

Five Na2SO4:RE3+ phosphors activated with rare-earth (RE) ions (RE3+=Ce3+, Sm3+, Tb3+, Dy3+ and Tm3+) were synthesized by heating natural thenardite Na2SO4 from Ai-Ding Salt Lake, Xinjiang, China with small amounts of rare-earth fluorides, CeF3, SmF3, TbF3, DyF3 and TmF3, at 920 °C in air. The photoluminescence (PL) and optical excitation spectra of the obtained phosphors were measured at 300 and 10 K. In the PL spectrum of Na2SO4:Ce3+ at 300 K, two overlapping bands with peaks at 335 and 356 nm due to Ce3+ were first observed. Narrow bands observed in PL and excitation spectra of Na2SO4:RE3+ (RE3+=Sm3+, Tb3+, Dy3+ and Tm3+) phosphors were well identified with the electronic transitions within the 4fn (n=5, 8, 9 and 12) configurations of RE3+. The existence of excitation bands with high luminescence efficiency at wavelengths shorter than 230 nm is characteristic of Na2SO4:RE3+ (RE3+=Sm3+, Tb3+, Dy3+ and Tm3+) phosphors. The obtained results suggest that these phosphors are unfavorable as the phosphor for usual fluorescence tubes, i.e., mercury discharge tubes, but may be favorable as the phosphor for UV-LED fluorescent tubes and as cathodoluminescence, X-ray luminescence and thermoluminescence phosphors.  相似文献

Oxonitridosilicate phosphors with compositions of (Y1−xCex)2Si3O3N4 (x=0−0.2) have been synthesized by solid state reaction method. The structures and photoluminescence properties have been investigated. Ce3+ ions have substituted for Y3+ ions in the lattice. The emission and excitation spectra of these phosphors show the characteristic photoluminescence spectra of Ce3+ ions. Based on the analyses of the diffuse reflection spectra and the PL spectra, a systematic energy diagram of Ce3+ ion in the forbidden band of sample with x=0.02 is given. The best doping Ce content in these phosphors is ∼2 mol%. The quenching temperature is ∼405 K for the 2 mol% Ce content sample. The luminescence decay properties were investigated. The primary studies indicate that these phosphors are potential candidates for application in three-phosphor-converted white LEDs.  相似文献

LiCaBO3:M (M=Eu3+, Sm3+, Tb3+, Ce3+, Dy3+) phosphors were synthesized by a normal solid-state reaction using CaCO3, H3BO3, Li2CO3, Na2CO3, K2CO3, Eu2O3, Sm2O3, Tb4O7, CeO2 and Dy2O3 as starting materials. The emission and excitation spectra were measured by a SHIMADZU RF-540 UV spectrophotometer. And the results show that these phosphors can be excited effectively by near-ultraviolet light-emitting diodes (UVLED), and emit red, green and blue light. Consequently, these phosphors are promising phosphors for white light-emitting diodes (LEDs). Under the condition of doping charge compensation Li+, Na+ and K+, the luminescence intensities of these phosphors were increased.  相似文献

The effects of the excitation wavelength, Ce3+ concentration and chemical substitution on the thermal quenching of Y3Al5O12:Ce3+ (YAG:Ce3+) phosphors were investigated over a temperature range from 30 to 250 °C. The quenching behavior exhibits a complex dependence on the excitation wavelength and Ce3+ concentration, which can be attributed to temperature-dependent absorption strength of the different f-d absorption bands and thermally activated concentration quenching with or without energy migrations between Ce3+ ions, respectively. With increasing Lu3+content the luminescence of (Y, Lu)3Al5O12:Ce3+ phosphors shows a pronounced blueshift, and simultaneously the temperature quenching is obviously improved due to a decrease in Stokes shift.  相似文献

Ce3+ and Dy3+ activated Li2CaGeO4 phosphors were prepared by a solid-state reaction method, and characterized by XRD (X-ray diffraction) and photoluminescence techniques. The characteristic emission bands of Dy3+ due to 4F9/26H15/2 (blue) and 4F9/26H13/2 (yellow) transitions were detected in the emission spectra of Li2CaGeO4:Dy3+. Ce3+ broad band emission was observed in Li2CaGeO4:Ce3+ phosphors at 372 and 400 nm due to 5d→4f transition when excited at 353 nm. Co-doping of Ce3+ enhanced the luminescence of Dy3+ significantly and concentration quenching occurs when Dy3+ is beyond 0.04 mol%. White-light with different hues can be realized by tuning Dy3+ concentration in the phosphors.  相似文献

This letter reports the novel three emission bands based on phosphate host matrix, KBaPO4 doped with Eu2+, Tb3+, and Sm3+ for white light-emitting diodes (LEDs). The phosphors were synthesized by solid-state reaction and thermal stability was elucidated by measuring photoluminescence at higher temperatures. Eu2+-doped KBaPO4 phosphor emits blue luminescence with a peak wavelength at 420 nm under maximum near-ultraviolet excitation of 360 nm. Tb3+-doped KBaPO4 phosphor emits green luminescence with a peak wavelength at 540 nm under maximum near-ultraviolet excitation of 370 nm. Sm3+-doped KBaPO4 phosphor emits orange-red luminescence with a peak wavelength at 594 nm under maximum near-ultraviolet excitation of 400 nm. The thermal stabilities of KBaPO4:Ln (Ln=Eu2+, Tb3+, Sm3+), in comparison to commercially available YAG:Ce3+ phosphor were found to be higher in a wide temperature range of 25-300 °C.  相似文献

Bi3+- and RE3+-co-doped (Y,Gd)BO3 phosphors were prepared and their luminescent properties under vacuum ultraviolet (VUV)/UV excitation were investigated. Strong red emission for (Y,Gd)BO3:Bi3+,Eu3+ and strong green emission for (Y,Gd)BO3:Bi3+,Tb3+ are observed under VUV excitation from 147 to 200 nm with a much broader excitation region than that of single Eu3+-doped or Tb3+-doped (Y,Gd)BO3 phosphor. Strong emissions are also observed under UV excitation around 265 nm where as nearly no luminescence is observed for single Eu3+-doped or Tb3+-doped (Y,Gd)BO3. The luminescence enhancement of Bi3+- and RE3+-co-doped (Y,Gd)BO3 phosphors is due to energy transfer from Bi3+ ion to Eu3+ or Tb3+ ion not only in the VUV region but also in the UV region. Besides, host sensitization competition between Bi3+ and Eu3+ or Tb3+ is also observed. The investigated phosphors may be preferable for devices with a VUV light 147-200 nm as an excitation source such as PDP or mercury-free fluorescent lamp.  相似文献

The thermo-luminescence (TL) of rare earth ions RE3+ (RE=Ln, excluding Pm, Eu and Lu) co-doped phosphors CaGa2S4:Eu2+, RE3+ was studied between room temperature and 300 °C, and 3D thermo-luminescence of the phosphors were measured from room temperature to 400 °C. The basic material CaGa2S4:Eu2+, showed at least two bands in the TL glow curve. Changing the auxiliary activator RE3+ (rare earth ion), intensities and the positions of the TL glow curve peaks were affected significantly. For the phosphors with long afterglow, auxiliary activator such as Ce3+, Pr3+, Gd3+, Tb3+, Ho3+, or Y3+ created some new defects in these compounds at lower trap levels and enhanced their TL intensities. The Nd3+ or Er3+ auxiliary activator only enhanced TL intensities to a low extent, so these two phosphors have short persistent luminescence at room temperature. TL intensities of La3+, Sm3+, Tm3+ or Yb3+ co-doped phosphors were suppressed greatly and no afterglow was shown. The relationship between auxiliary activators and corresponding thermo-luminescence curves of phosphors CaGa2S4:Eu2+, RE3+ are discussed in detail. According to our results, suitable activation energy and enough high corresponding trap density are necessary for the phosphor with long afterglow.  相似文献

Long persistent SrAl2O4:Eu2+ phosphors co-doped with Dy3+ were prepared by the solid state reaction method. The main diffraction peaks of the monoclinic structure of SrAl2O4 were observed in all the samples. The broad band emission spectra at 497 nm for SrAl2O4:Eu2+, Dy3+ were observed and the emission is attributed to the 4f65d1 to 4f7 transition of Eu2+ ions. The samples annealed at 1100–1200 °C showed similar broad TL glow curves centered at 120 °C. The similar TL glow curves suggest that the traps responsible for them are similar. The long afterglow displayed by the phosphors annealed at different temperatures, may be attributed to the Dy3+ ions acting as the hole trap levels, which play an important role in prolonging the duration of luminescence.  相似文献

Y2O3:Eu3+, Tb3+ phosphors with white emission are prepared with different doping concentration of Eu3+ and Tb3+ ions and synthesizing temperatures from 750 to 950 °C by the co-precipitation method. The resulted phosphors were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. The results of XRD indicate that the crystallinity of the synthesized samples increases with enhancing the firing temperature. The photoluminescence spectra indicate the Eu3+ and Tb3+ co-doped Y2O3 phosphors show five main emission peaks: three at 590, 611 and 629 nm originate from Eu3+ and two at 481 and 541 nm originate from Tb3+, under excitation of 250-320 nm irradition. The white light luminescence color could be changed by varying the excitation wavelength. Different concentrations of Eu3+ and Tb3+ ions were induced into the Y2O3 lattice and the energy transfer from Tb3+→Eu3+ ions in these phosphors was found. The Commission International de l’Eclairage (CIE) chromaticity shows that the Y2O3:Eu3+, Tb3+ phosphors can obtain an intense white emission.  相似文献

Yb3+:Er3+:Tm3+ co-doped borosilicate glasses are prepared.Their strong up-conversion photoluminescence spectra in a range from ultra-violet to near-infrared,which are excited by a 978-nm laser diode, are measured, and the mechanisms of energy transfer among Yb3+,Er3+ and Tm3+ ions are discussed. The results show that there is an unexpected wavelength at 900-nm emission from Yb3+ Stark splitting levels to pump Tm3+ ions and there exists an optimum pump power. The concentration of the Tm3+ dopant gives rise to a prominent effect on the intensity of visible and near-infrared emissions for the Yb3+:Er3+:Tm3+ co-doped borosilicate glasses.  相似文献

Zinc silicate phosphors co-doped with Eu3+ ions and also with both Eu3+ and Tb3+ ions were prepared by high temperature solid state reaction in air or reducing atmosphere. The luminescence characteristics of the prepared phosphors were investigated. While in the samples prepared in air, Eu3+ emission was found to be dominant over Tb3+ emission, in the samples prepared in reducing atmosphere, intense Eu2+ emission at 448 nm was found to be predominant over narrow Tb3+ emission. Luminescence studies showed that Eu3+ ions occupy asymmetric sites in Zn2SiO4 lattice. The intense f-f absorption peak of Eu3+ at 395 nm observed in these phosphors suggests their potential as red emitting phosphors for near ultra-violet light emitting diodes.  相似文献

The paper is dedicated to investigation of the Mn2+ luminescence in Tb3Al5O12 (TbAG) garnet, as well as the processes of excitation energy transfer between host cations (Tb3+ ions) and activators (Mn2+ and Mn2+-Ce3+ pair ions) in single crystalline films of TbAG:Mn and TbAG:Mn,Ce garnets which can be considered as promising luminescent materials for conversion of LED's radiation. Due to the effective energy transfer between TbAG host and activator, Mn2+ ions in TbAG possess the bright orange luminescence in the bands peaked at 595 nm with a lifetime of 0.64 ms which are caused by the 4T16A1 radiative transitions. The simultaneous process of energy transfer is realized in TbAG:Mn,Ce: (i) from Tb3+ to Mn2+ ions; (ii) from Tb3+ cations to Ce3+ ions and then partly to Mn2+ ions through Tb3+ ion sublattice and Ce-Mn dipole-dipole interaction.  相似文献

The luminescence properties of Ce3+ in La3F3[Si3O9] are reported. Excitation and emission bands corresponding to 4f1→5d1 transitions of Ce3+ were identified. The center of gravity of the 5d states lies at remarkable high energy (43.2×103 cm−1) for Ce3+ in a silicate compound. This high value is attributed to the combined oxygen/fluoride coordination of the Ce3+ ion. Emission from the lowest 4f5d level to the 2F5/2 and 2F7/2 levels was found at 32.4×103 and 30.4×103 cm−1. These results are compared with literature data on silicates and fluorides. From the values found for Ce3+, predictions are made for the positions of the 4f5d bands of Pr3+ and Er3+ in La3F3[Si3O9]. For both ions, it is concluded that in this host lattice emission is expected from high lying 4fn energy levels.  相似文献

Photoluminescent phosphors CaGa2S4: Eu2+, RE3+ (RE3+ including all rare earth ions except for Sc3+, Pm3+, Eu3+ and Lu3+) were prepared by sintering at high temperature in a reductive atmosphere, and their luminescent properties were studied intensively. The influences of co-doping rare earth ions on their luminescent properties were also investigated. No remarkable differences were found from excitation spectra of co-doped phosphors CaGa2S4: Eu2+, RE3+ in contrast with that of phosphor CaGa2S4: Eu2+, but there were a few differences in emission spectra of Ce3+, Pr3+ or Ho3+ co-doped phosphors. Phosphors CaGa2S4: Eu2+, RE3+ (RE=Ce, Pr, Gd, Tb, Ho and Y) had persistent afterglow, and very short afterglow was shown for Nd3+ or Er3+ co-doped phosphors, but no long afterglow appeared when auxiliary activator was La3+, Sm3+, Dy3+, Tm3+ or Yb3+. Among the phosphors with long-lasting phosphorescence, in our experiments, CaGa2S4: Eu2+, Ho3+ had the longest and the highest brightness long yellow afterglow. Thermo-luminescence of all co-doped phosphors was measured to find the answer of different influences from different rare earth auxiliary activators.  相似文献

Nanocrystalline Y3Al5O12: Ce3+/Tb3+ (average crystalline size 30 nm) phosphor layers were coated on non-aggregated, monodisperse and spherical SiO2 particles by the sol-gel method, resulting in the formation of core-shell structured SiO2@Y3Al5O12:Ce3+/Tb3+ particles. X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, photoluminescence, cathodoluminescence spectra, as well as lifetimes were utilized to characterize the core-shell structured SiO2@Y3Al5O12:Ce3+/Tb3+ phosphor particles. The obtained core-shell structured phosphors consist of well-dispersed submicron spherical particles with a narrow size distribution. The thickness of the Y3Al5O12:Ce3+/Tb3+ shells on the SiO2 cores (average size about 500 nm, crystalline size about 30 nm) could be easily tailored by varying the number of deposition cycles (100 nm for four deposition cycles). Under the excitation of ultraviolet and low-voltage electron beams (1–3 kV), the core-shell SiO2@Y3Al5O12:Ce3+/Tb3+ particles show strong yellow-green and green emission corresponding to the 5d–4f emission of Ce3+ and 5D47F J (J = 6, 5, 4, 3) emission of Tb3+, respectively. These phosphors may have potential application in field emission displays.  相似文献

5 mol% of Pr3+ and Tm3+ ions activated calcium gadolinium tungstate (Ca2Gd2W3O14) phosphors were synthesized by traditional solid state reaction method. Crystalline phase structure was identified from the X-ray diffraction (XRD) profiles. From the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images, we have observed the agglomeration of the particles, and average grain size is around 40-300 nm. Using the energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra, identified the elements and functional groups present in the prepared phosphors. The emission spectrum of Pr3+: Ca2Gd2W3O14 powder phosphors have shown an intense red emission at 615 nm with the excitation wavelength λexci=450 nm and thus these red color emitting powder phosphors are used as one of the components in the preparation of WLEDs. The excitation spectrum of Tm3+: Ca2Gd2W3O14 powder phosphor has shown a ligand to metal charge transfer (W-O) band (LMCT) within the WO42− group. Emission spectrum of Tm3+: Ca2Gd2W3O14 phosphors have shown blue emissions at 453 nm (1D23F4).  相似文献

Ce3+ and Tb3+ co-doped BaAl2B2O7 phosphors were synthesized by the solid-state method. X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used to characterize the phase structure. The photoluminescent properties of Ce3+ and Tb3+ co-doped BaAl2B2O7 phosphors were investigated by using the photoluminescence emission and excitation spectra. Under the excitation of near ultraviolet (n-UV) light, BaAl2B2O7:Ce3+,Tb3+ phosphors exhibited blue emission corresponding to the f–d transition of Ce3+ ions and green emission bands corresponding to the f–f transition of Tb3+ ions, respectively. Effective energy transfer occurred from Ce3+ to Tb3+ in BaAl2B2O7 host due to the observed spectra overlap between the emission spectrum of Ce3+ ion and the excitation spectrum of Tb3+ ion. The energy transfer efficiency from Ce3+ ion to Tb3+ ion was also calculated to be 71%. Furthermore, the concentration quenching and critical distance of BaAl2B2O7:Ce3+,Tb3+ phosphors were also discussed. The energy transfer from Ce3+ to Tb3+ in BaAl2B2O7 host was demonstrated to be resonant type via a dipole–dipole interaction mechanism with the energy transfer critical distance of 16.13 Å.  相似文献
