The Co/CaF2/Si(001) heterostructures with the corrugated (110) surface of the CaF2 buffer layer have been grown by molecular beam epitaxy. The structures are nanoparticle arrays of single-crystal Co, mostly of the cubic fcc modification. The behavior of the magnetic hysteresis loops as a function of the density of coverage of the substrate by cobalt islands, the island size, and the temperature is studied using the magnetooptical technique. At low coverage densities, where the effective cobalt film thickness d eff is less than the critical value d eff c , the magnetic structure of the films at T = 294 K can be visualized as an ensemble of superparamagnetic, weakly interacting nanoparticles and is characterized by small values of the coercive field H c and the remanent magnetization M rem. A decrease in the temperature leads to a strong increase in H c and M rem, which is associated with the transition of the islands to the blocked state. The blocking temperature of the structures is T b ~ 280 K. The magnetic anisotropy parameter K and the saturation magnetization M s of the islands depend on the growth temperature of cobalt T Co. An increase in the coverage density above the critical thickness d iff c at T = 294 K brings about a strong increase in H c and M rem and the appearance of a hysteresis loop anisotropy originating from the corrugated structure of the CaF2 buffer layer. The experimental results are compared with the model of an ensemble of noninteracting superparamagnetic particles.  相似文献

Thin epitaxial films of Re0.6Ba0.4MnO3 (Re = La, Pr, Nd, Gd) on (001)-oriented single crystal SrTiO3 and ZrO2(Y2O3) substrates have been prepared and studied. All films possess a cubic perovskite structure, except for the film with Re = La, which exhibited a rhombohedral distortion of the perovskite lattice. The results show evidence for the presence of two magnetic phases, ferromagnetic (FM) and antiferromagnetic (AFM), in the films studied: (i) the magnetization isotherm M(H) appears as a superposition of a linear component (characteristic of antiferromagnets) and a small spontaneous magnetization component; (ii) the magnetic moment per formula unit is significantly reduced as compared to the value expected for the complete FM or ferrimagnetic ordering; (iii) there is a difference between magnetizations of the samples cooled with and without an applied magnetic field, which is preserved in the entire range of magnetic fields studied (50 kOe); (iv) the temperature dependence of the magnetization M(T) in strong magnetic fields is close to linear (for the composition with Re = Gd, M(T) is described by a Langevin function for superparamagnets with a cluster moment of 2μB); and (v) the magnetization hysteresis loops of the field-cooled samples are shifted along the field axis. The exchange integral (characterizing the Mn-O-Mn coupling via the FM-AFM phase boundary) estimated from the latter shift is | J|=10?6 eV. This value is two orders of magnitude lower than the negative exchange integral between the FM layers in ReMnO3, which makes the presence of a transition layer at the FM-AFM phase boundary unlikely. The temperature dependences of electrical resistance and magnetoresistance exhibit maxima at the Curie temperature (TC), where the magnetoresistance reaches a colossal value. This behavior indicates that the two-phase magnetic state is caused by a strong s-d exchange.  相似文献

The magneto-optical method is used to investigate magnetization and low-frequency magnetic susceptibility curves of the FeBO3 single crystal doped with diamagnetic Mg ions. It is demonstrated that substitution of a fraction of Fe ions by the Mg ions in the structure of this easy-plane weak ferromagnet causes a significant intraplane magnetocrystalline anisotropy at low temperatures as well as different forms of magnetic hysteresis loops and field dependences of the magnetic susceptibility recorded for different orientations of the external magnetic field relative to the basal crystal plane. The established special features of the FeBO3:Mg magnetic properties are explained by the transition of the magnetic crystal from the uniform to spatially modulated state during technical magnetization.  相似文献

The magnetic and electric properties of a Cd0.90Mn0.10GeAs2 solid solution with the chalcopyrite structure have been investigated in wide temperature and field ranges. It has been found that a metamagnetic transition from a low-magnetization state to a high-magnetization one is initiated in Cd0.90Mn0.10GeAs2 near the magnetic ordering temperature. This transition is accompanied by the hysteresis of magnetic properties. An external magnetic field at temperatures above T C also induces the metamagnetic transition. When the temperature increases above T C, the magnetization jump decreases, whereas fields inducing the metamagnetic transition increase. The band character of magnetism and metamagnetism in the effective magnetic field is assumed on the basis of the behavior of magnetization in the metamagnetic transition and analysis of the band structure of the solid solution of cadmium-germanium diarsenide with manganese.  相似文献

Thin Re0.6Ba0.4MnO3 epitaxial films (Re = La, Pr, Nd, Gd) grown on (001)SrTiO3 and (001)ZrO2(Y2O3) single crystal substrates have been prepared and studied. All the films were found to have a cubic perovskite structure, with the exception of the film with Re = La, which revealed rhombohedral distortion of the perovskite cell. The temperature dependences of the electrical resistivity and magnetoresistance pass through a maximum near the Curie point TC, where the magnetoresistance reaches a colossal value. The magnetization isotherms M(H) are superpositions of a magnetization that is linear in field (like that of an antiferromagnet) and a weak spontaneous magnetization. The magnetic moment per formula unit is substantially smaller than that expected under complete ferro-or ferrimagnetic ordering. The magnetizations of samples cooled in a magnetic field (FC samples) and with no field applied (ZFC samples) differ by an amount that persists up to the highest measurement fields (50 kOe). The M(T) dependence obtained in strong magnetic fields is close to linear. Hysteresis loops of the FC samples are shifted along the field axis. The above magnetic and electric properties of thin films are explained in terms of two coexisting magnetic phases, which are due to strong s-d exchange coupling.  相似文献

The equation of the magnetization of a hexagonal crystal is derived for the first time for an arbitrary orientation of the external magnetic field relative to the crystallographic c axis. In order to clarify the magnetization mechanism for a real ensemble of small particles in the framework of the given problem, surface anisotropy (which is significant for nanosize objects) was taken into account along with crystalline magnetic anisotropy and anisotropy in the particle shape. Model computer experiments prove that the magnetization curves for nanocrystals oriented in a polar angle range of 65–90° exhibit an anomaly in the form of a jump, indicating a first-order spin-reorientation phase transition. This explains a larger steepness of the experimental curve reconstructed taking into account the interaction between particles as compared to the theoretical dependence obtained by Stoner and Wohlfarth [IEEE Trans. Magn. MAG 27 (4), 3469 (1991)]. An analysis of variation of the characteristic anisotropy surface and its cross section with increasing ratio |K2|/K1 of the crystalline magnetic anisotropy constants upon a transition from a macroscopic to a nanoscopic crystal shows that surface anisotropy leads to a change in the magnetic structure. As a result, an additional easy magnetization direction emerges in the basal plane apart from the easiest magnetization direction (along the c axis). The direction of hard magnetization emerges from the basal plane, the angle of its orientation relative to the c axis being a function of the ratio | K2|/K1.  相似文献

Crystals of the KPb2Br5compound are investigated using polarized light microscopy and calorimetry. The birefringence and the angle of rotation of the optical indicatrix are measured in the temperature range 270–620 K. It is found that the KPb2Br5 crystal undergoes a first-order ferroelastic phase transition at temperatures T0↑ = 519.5 K and T0↓ = 518.5 K with a change in the enthalpy ΔH = 1300 ± 200 J/mol. This transition is accompanied by both twinning and the symmetry change mmm ? P21/c. It is revealed that the angle of rotation of the optical indicatrix exhibits an unusual behavior under variations in the temperature due to a strong temperature dependence of the birefringence.  相似文献

The structural, elastic, magnetic, and magnetoelectric properties of the CaBaCo4O7 multiferroic are experimentally studied and compared with the properties of the related YBaCo4O7 cobaltite, where Y3+ ions substitute for Ca2+ ions. Unlike the frustrated YBaCo4O7 magnet, the softening of Young’s modulus and the hysteresis in the ΔE(T)/E 0 curve of ferrimagnetic CaBaCo4O7 in the paramagnetic region are weak, and the anomaly during the magnetic transition increases by almost an order of magnitude. This difference can point to different characters of the development of a long-range magnetic order in these two cobaltites. The distortion of the crystal structure that removes the frustrations of exchange interactions is found to correlate with the magnetic behavior of the cobaltites under study. The magnetization curves of the Ca cobaltite have two steps below 15 K, which can point to the presence of a metastable state in a high magnetic field. The study of the longitudinal and transverse magnetoelectric effects in a pulsed magnetic field demonstrates that their magnitudes are maximal near T C and change their character from linear to quadratic during passage through this temperature.  相似文献

The spectra of magnetic circular dichroism in the range of the 7 F 65 D 4 absorption band and the spectra of magnetic circular polarization of luminescence in the range of the 5 D 47 F 5 band in the terbium-gallium garnet Tb3Ga5O12 are studied at a temperature of 80 K. The optical transitions between the Stark sublevels of the 7 F 6, 7 F 5, and 5 D 4 multiplets are identified based on the analysis of the magneto-optical and optical spectra. It is shown that the experimentally determined symmetry and energy of the Stark sublevels of these multiplets confirm the results of numerical calculations of the energy spectrum of the Tb3+ rare-earth ion in terbium-gallium garnet.  相似文献

The low-temperature dependences of magnetic characteristics (namely, the coercive force H c , the remanent magnetization M r , local magnetic anisotropy fields H a, and the saturation magnetization M s ) determined from the irreversible and reversible parts of the magnetization curves for Fe3C ferromagnetic nanoparticles encapsulated in carbon nanotubes are investigated experimentally. The behavior of the temperature dependences of the coercive force H c (T) and the remanent magnetization M r (T) indicates a single-domain structure of the particles under study and makes it possible to estimate their blocking temperature T B = 420–450 K. It is found that the saturation magnetization M s and the local magnetic anisotropy field H a vary with temperature as ~T 5/2.  相似文献

The effect of low-temperature annealing on the magnetization curve of YBa2Cu3O6 + x ceramics in the superconducting state (x ≈ 0.9) is investigated. When the annealing time is fairly long, the field dependence of magnetic moment M exhibits a feature in the form of a plateau, where the value of M remains almost constant. The evolution of this feature in the magnetization curves of annealed samples with annealing time and temperature is studied. It is assumed that low-temperature annealing gives rise to metastable ferromagnetic clusters in YBa2Cu3O6 + x ceramics, the contribution of which to the magnetic moment accounts for the feature in the magnetization curves of the annealed samples.  相似文献

The magnetic properties of an oxygen-deficient nanocrystalline undoped titanium dioxide synthesized by the gas-phase, electric-explosion, and chemical method have been studied. The defect state was controlled using reduction treatments in vacuum or in a hydrogen atmosphere. It is shown that the defect state of the surface of nanocrystalline oxides (for example, the existence of vacancies in the anion sublattice and other defects) has a dominant influence on the formation of the magnetic properties of the samples under study. The main contributions to the magnetism of TiO2 nanoparticles after the reduction treatments are the paramagnetic contribution of the matrix, the paramagnetic Curie–Weiss contribution, and the contribution of the spontaneous magnetic moment provided by the existence of regions with different spin ordering. A heterogeneous magnetic state is found to exist in the TiO2 nanopowders; for example, at low temperatures, shifted hysteresis loops are observed as a result of a possible set of magnetic states with different spin orders. It is shown that a soft compaction or grinding of nanopowders in an agate mortar lead to substantial increase in the magnetization, sometimes, by a factor of more than two, regardless of the nanopowder synthesis method and the initial phase state of TiO2 (anatase or rutile structures). This experimental fact proves the key role of the surface defects and the magnetic moment carriers with different spin configurations localized mainly on the nanoparticle surface. The compaction changes the magnetization only in the case when the initial magnetic state has a nonlinear “quasi-superparamagnetic” character of the magnetization curve. As a result of predominant exchange interaction between the nanoparticles with a frustrated character of spin ordering on the nanoparticles surface, the ferromagnetic contribution increases as nanoparticles contact.  相似文献

The ultrafast laser-excited magnetization dynamics of ferromagnetic (FM) La0.67Sr0.33MnO3 (LSMO) thin films with BiFeO3 (BFO) coating layers grown by laser molecular beam epitaxy are investigated using the optical pump-probe technique. Uniform magnetization precessions are observed in the films under an applied external magnetic field by measuring the time-resolved magneto-optical Kerr effect. The magnetization precession frequencies of the LSMO thin films with the BFO coating layers are lower than those of uncoated LSMO films, which is attributed to the suppression of the anisotropy field induced by the exchange interaction at the interface between the antiferromagnetic order of BFO and the FM order of LSMO.  相似文献

The magnetic properties of the EuMn0.5Co0.5O3 perovskite synthesized under various conditions are studied in fields up to 140 kOe. The sample synthesized at T = 1500°C is shown to exhibit a metamagnetic phase transition, which is irreversible below T = 40 K, and the sample synthesized at T = 1200°C demonstrates the field dependence of magnetization that is typical of a ferromagnet. Both samples have TC = 123 K and approximately the same magnetization in high magnetic fields. The metamagnetism is assumed to be related to a transition from a noncollinear ferromagnetic phase to a collinear phase, and the presence of clusters with ordered Co2+ and Mn4+ ions leads to ferromagnetism. The noncollinear phase is formed due to the competition between positive Co2+–Mn4+ and negative Mn4+–Mn4+ and Co2+–Co2+ interactions, which make almost the same contributions, and to the existence of a high magnetic anisotropy.  相似文献

The magnetic superconductorRu0.9Sr2YCu2.1O7.9 (Ru-1212Y) has beeninvestigated using neutron diffraction under variable temperature and magnetic field. Withthe complementary information from magnetization measurements, we propose a magnetic phasediagram T-H for the Ru-1212 system. Uniaxialantiferromagnetic (AFM) order of 1.2μ B /Ruatoms with moments parallel to the c-axis is found below the magnetictransition temperature at  ~140 K in the absence of magnetic field. In addition, ferromagnetism (FM) in the ab-plane develops below  ~120 K, butis suppressed at lower temperature by superconducting correlations. Externally appliedmagnetic fields cause Ru-moments to realign from the c-axis to theab-plane, i.e. along the ?1,1,0? direction, and induce ferromagnetismin the plane with  ~1μ B at 60 kOe.These observations of the weak ferromagnetism suppressed by superconductivity and thefield-induced metamagnetic transition between AFM and FM demonstrate not only competingorders of superconductivity and magnetism, but also suggest a certain vortex dynamicscontributing to these magnetic transitions.  相似文献

We studied the structure and magnetic properties of porous multilayered Co/Pd films deposited on the templates of anodized Al2O3 with a specific surface morphology that is characterized by a cellular–porous structure with several pores inside each cell. X-ray diffraction analysis and reflectometry are used to study the peculiarities of the formation of phases in deposited films. The effect of morphological features of porous Co/Pd films on their magnetoanisotropic properties and magnetization reversal processes (magnetization reversal mechanisms, domain structure of films, and coercive field H c ) is revealed by SQUID magnetometry and magnetic force microscopy.  相似文献

We have synthesized single crystals of CeZnAl3, which is a new member of family of Ce-based intermetallics CeTX3 (T=transition metal, X=Si, Ge, Al), crystallizing in the non-centrosymmetric tetragonal BaNiSn3-type structure. Magnetization, specific heat and resistivity measurements all show that CeZnAl3 orders magnetically below around 4.4 K. Furthermore, magnetization measurements exhibit a hysteresis loop at low temperatures and fields, indicating the presence of a ferromagnetic component in the magnetic state. This points to a different nature of the magnetism in CeZnAl3 compared to the other isostructural CeTAl3 compounds. Resistivity measurements under pressures up to 1.8 GPa show a moderate suppression of the ordering temperature with pressure, suggesting that measurements to higher pressures are required to look for quantum critical behavior.  相似文献

Cubic paramagnetic centers formed by Yb3+ impurity ions in fluorite-type crystals MeF2 (Me = Cd, Ca, Pb) have been investigated using electron paramagnetic resonance, magnetic circular dichroism, magnetic circular polarization of luminescence, Zeeman splitting of optical absorption and luminescence lines, and optical detection of electron paramagnetic resonance. The g factors of the 2Γ7 state in the excited multiplet 2 F 5/2 of Yb3+ ions in Me F2 crystals, the hyperfine interaction constant 171 A (171Yb) for the excited multiplet 2 F 5/2 in the CaF2 crystal, and the energies and symmetry properties of all energy levels of Yb3+ ions in MeF2 crystals are determined. The crystal-field parameters for the crystals under investigation are calculated.  相似文献

We observe the negative shift of the magnetic hysteresis loop at 5 K, while the sample is cooled in external magnetic field in case of 30% of Fe substitution in LaMnO3. The negative shift and training effect of the hysteresis loops indicate the phenomenon of exchange bias. The cooling field dependence of the negative shift increases with the cooling field below 7.0 kOe and then, decreases with further increase of cooling field. The temperature dependence of the negative shift of the hysteresis loops exhibits that the negative shift decreases sharply with increasing temperature and vanishes above 20 K. Temperature dependence of dc magnetization and ac susceptibility measurements show a sharp peak (Tp) at 51 K and a shoulder (Tf) around 20 K. The relaxation of magnetization shows the ferromagnetic and glassy magnetic components in the relaxation process, which is in consistent with the cluster-glass compound.  相似文献

Inverted hysteresis loops were observed for the first time in the near-surface layers of heterogeneous (nanocrystalline/amorphous) Fe81Nb7B12 alloys. In particular, a negative residual magnetization is observed when a positive magnetic field applied in the sample plane is decreased to zero. The inverted hysteresis is qualitatively explained within the framework of a two-phase model, according to which the heterogeneous alloys contain two dissimilar phases exhibiting uniaxial magnetic anisotropy and featuring antiferromagnetic exchange interaction.  相似文献
