The change in integrated intensity of the (200) reflections of a solid solution during the formation of G.P. zones was measured and compared with the change in the character of the diffuse streaks corresponding to them. It was found that the. formation of G.P. zones does not lead to a decrease in primary extinction despite the great changes in the distribution of the copper atoms. It was shown that the formation of a precipitate accompanied by the formation of crystallographically incoherent boundaries greatly decreases the primary extinction.

The first part of the paper gives a general equation for triple-crystal arrangement with perfect crystals on the assumption that the third crystal is rotated. It is shown that in the case of perfect crystals the shape of the reflection curve is practically independent of the vertical divergence. The case of mosaic crystals is also solved and the possibility of rotation by other than the third crystal is considered. A method is proposed for investigating the imperfection of a crystal which is different from methods used up to now. The paper is supplemented by some experimental results.

CdSb single crystals were prepared by zone melting in a boat both with and without a seed crystal in a stream of pure hydrogen or in a sealed and evacuated tube. The zone moved with a velocity of 1–20 cm/hour. Zone melting in an evacuated tube was used to prepare CdSb single crystals of high purity containing 1015 acceptors/cm3 at room temperature. During zone refining the stoichiometry is damaged; the front part of the ingot is enriched by cadmium and the end of the ingot by antimony; the enrichment is of an order of several percent after 10 passages of the zone. In the middle part of the ingot the stoichiometric compound remains unchanged. CdSb single crystals grow even by directional cooling of the melt of the stoichiometric compound without a seed crystal.

We discuss two classical situations that lead to probabilities characteristic for systems with spin-1/2. (a) Pitowsky model: It is demonstrated that the definition of spin functions does not imply which circle (a parallel or a great circle) on the sphere should be taken as a probability space in calculation of conditional probabilities. Pitowsky's choice of parallels must be formulated as an assumption about the model. It is shown that the model explicitly avoiding this difficulty is possible and no contradiction with the Bell Theorem is found. The modification is based on a new pathological decomposition of the sphere and belongs to a class of hidden variable theories with undetected signals. (b) Aerts model: We show the importance of the polarization effect of the measurements for the sake of obtaining a non-Kolmogorovian probability model. It is also shown that the conditioning by a change of state leads in general to the non-Kolmogorovian probability calculus.2. For example, let Cw,z xCw,zµc ({y C w,z S +|(x,y) /2})=µ c(C w,z S +)= 1/2µ c(C w,z). Pitowsky spheres with white points distributed onC w,z in this way exist. The proof is exactly analogous to this of Theorem 1 in [1]. Then (**) = 1 -/, if one takesC w,z as the probability space. This example seems very instructive.3. If the chargeq falls down on some point then it clearly has not fallen down on another one. Having given a result of a measurement we cannot, within the model with polarization, talk in a sensible way about its alternative: We can think either aboutsuccessive measurements (then the Bell inequality is not derivable) or ask What would have happened if..., but then we deal with a different problem (in Aerts' terminology [2b] this is anobservation) and obtain again Eq. The influence of a strong high-frequency field on the stratification of the positive column of a D-C glow discharge
An experimental study is made of the damping of moving striations in a d-c glow discharge by a strong high-frequency field. The results of measurement are in agreement with existing conceptions on the production and mechanism of propagation of moving striations. Apart from the process of damping the paper also describes the standing stratification of the positive column of a d-c discharge as a result of a superposed high-frequency discharge.

Conclusions For holography using a convergent subject beam arrangement, the effect associated with increased extrafocal information density is most pronounced when the parameter 2ac/F is small. This relationship between the object parameters (a and c) and the characteristics of the holographic system (, F) is encountered most frequently in problems of microfilming (ac) and radar imaging (ac,a 2/F is small). It is only in the case 2acF99 with an accuracy of not worse than 1%, that we can assert that the sizes of the minimal Fourier holograms will coincide.Gorkii State University. A geometrical gravitational theory based on the connection ={ } + ln + lng ln is developed. The field equations for the new theory are uniquely determined apart from one unknown dimensionless parameter 2. The geometry on which our theory is based is an extension of the Weyl geometry, and by the extension the gravitational coupling constant and the gravitational mass are made to be dynamical and geometrical. The fundamental geometrical objects in the theory are a metricg and two gauge scalars and. Physically the gravitational potential corresponds tog in the same way as in general relativity, the gravitational coupling constant to –2, and the gravitational mass tou(, ), which is a coscalar of power –1 algebraically made of and. The theory satisfies the weak equivalence principle, but breaks the strong one generally. We shall find outu(, )= on the assumption that the strong one keeps holding good at least for bosons of low spins. Thus we have the simple correspondence between the geometrical objects and the gravitational objects. Since the theory satisfies the weak one, the inertial mass is also dynamical and geometrical in the same way as is the gravitational mass. Moreover, the cosmological term in the theory is a coscalar of power –4 algebraically made of andu(, ), so it is dynamical, too. Finally we give spherically symmetric exact solutions. The permissible range of the unknown parameter 2 is experimentally determined by applying the solutions to the solar system.  相似文献

The paper explains the theory of modelling electrostatic fields by a resistance network. The conditions, which the resistance network must satisfy, are derived and the question of modelling electrodes of different shapes is solved. The finished network and the results obtained on it when modelling a jet for a linear h-f accelerator of electrons are described. Particular attention is paid to the influence of a space charge, the modelling of which is an advantage of this method.

A recent calculation, in the weak-noise limit, of the rate of escape of a particle over a one-dimensional potential barrier is extended by including an inertial term in the Langevin equation. Specifically, we consider a system described by the Langevin equation , where is a Gaussian colored noise with mean zero and correlator (t)(t')=(D/)exp(–|t–t'|/). A pathintegral formulation is augmented by a steepest descent calculation valid in the weak-noise (D0) limit. This yields an escape rateexp(–S/D), where the actionS is the minimum, over paths characterizing escape over the barrier, of a generalized Onsager-Machlup functional, the extremal path being an instanton of the theory. The extremal actionS is calculated analytically for smallm and for general potentials, and numerical results forS are displayed for various ranges ofm and for the typical case of the quartic potentialV(x)=–x 2/2+x 4/4.  相似文献

The current and logarithm-of-the-current distributionsn(i) andn(ln i) on bond diluted two-dimensional random-resistor networks at the percolation threshold are studied by a modified transfer matrix method. Thek th moment (–9k8) of n(ln i) i.e., ln i&k, is found to scale with the linear sizeL as (InL)(k). The exponents (k) are not inconsistent with the recent theoretical prediction (k)=k, with deviations which may be attributed to severe finitesize effects. For small currents, ln n(y), yielding information on the threshold below which the multifractality of (i) breaks down. The paper describes a new method for determining the parameters in the equation for ferromagnetic resonance — the internal effective field, the spectroscopic splitting factor and the saturation magnetization in polycrystalline magnetically isotropic ferrites. Relations are derived for calculating these parameters by means of the values of the resonance external static fields, which are obtained by measuring on samples having different geometrical shapes and differently arranged static and microwave magnetic fields. The advantages and disadvantages of the method and remarks on the experimental method are given. The paper ends with an example of measurement.

In this case the phase space is given by the range of the velocity only. We have measured the rotational viscosity of a concentrated ferrofluid by observing the increase of the first critical angular velocity in a Taylor cell with longitudinal magnetic field. The method is suitable for a very accurate determination of because of the sensitivity of the onset of Taylor instabilities to the effective viscosity of the fluid. The results are in agreement with recent theoretical investigations.  相似文献

The magnetic properties of thin ferromagnetic films are studied taking into account the magnetic anisotropy term in the Hamiltonian. In the second approximation equations are obtained for the magnetization of the monatomic layers parallel to the surface of the thin film. From these equations one obtains the Curie temperature, which depends on the thickness of the thin film and the ratio a between the anisotropy constant and the exchange energy between two neighbours. A value can be chosen for such that the thin film becomes ferromagnetic only for a thickness greater than a definite value and in this manner the theoretical results can be fitted to the experimental data. The situation in cobalt thin films is dealt with in particular.

We find the asymptotic decrease of correlations < A +y , B >,yZ v +1, |y|, in the Ising model at high temperatures. For the case when monomials A and B both are odd, using the saddle-point method, we find the asymptotics of the correlations for any dimension . For even monomials A , B we formulate a general hypothesis about the form of the asymptotics and confirm it in two cases: (1) =1 and the vectory has an arbitrary direction, (2)y is directed along a fixed axis and arbitrary .
