Elongated microvoids, internal fibrillar structure, and edge scattering from both surface refraction cause an equatorial streak in small angle X-ray scattering. A model for analyzing the edge scattering of fibers is proposed. Simulation results indicate that the intensity of edge scattering from surface refraction of a cylindrical fiber is strong and makes an important contribution to the equatorial streak. Two factors influence edge scattering intensity. One is the sample-to-detector distance (D); edge scattering intensity increases with increasing D. The equatorial streak becomes weak when D is shortened. The other factor is the refraction index. Edge scattering intensity increases as the real component of the refraction index decreases. In experiment, weak or even no equatorial streaks were found for samples measured in a roughly index-matching fluid. Edge scattering can be eliminated or weakened, and it can be calculated by comparing the intensities of a cylindrical fiber when it is measured in air and in index-matching fluid. The simulation data are basically in agreement with the experimental data.  相似文献

A metal-lined hollow-core fiber-based Raman probe extension kit is proposed in this Letter for in situ and sensitive ultramicro-analysis. A hollow-core fiber can confine light and fluid samples in its hollow core, with enhanced light–sample interaction. By using a homemade light coupling device with a glass window for liquid isolation, a 3.5-cm-long hollow-core fiber could mount on and connect to a Raman probe, with perfect light coupling efficiency. After full filling the hollow-core fiber chamber with a volume of 13 μL by using a syringe pump, it can act as an extension kit for an ordinary Raman probe and be used as a ultramicro-analysis tool for the sample of microfluidic chips. In order to enhance its sensitivity, a gold film coated fiber tip is inserted into the capillary, which can double the Raman signal received by reflecting pump light and Raman light. Finally, a detection limit of 5% for ethanol solution and an enhancement factor of two compared with direct detection of bulk sample volume are demonstrated. Above all, our device can be utilized as a Raman probe extension kit, which is suitable for rapid, sensitive, and in situ measurements for a few microliter level samples.  相似文献

Stimulated Brillouin scattering-induced phase noise is harmful to interferometric fiber sensing systems. The localized fluctuating model is used to study the intensity noise caused by the stimulated Brillouin scattering in a single-mode fiber. The phase noise structure is analyzed for an interferometric fiber sensing system, and an unbalanced Michelson interferometer with an optical path difference of 1 m,as well as the phase-generated carrier technique,is used to measure the phase noise. It is found that the phase noise is small when the input power is below the stimulated Brillouin scattering threshold, increases dramatically at first and then gradually becomes flat when the input power is above the threshold, which is similar to the variation in relative intensity noise. It can be inferred that the increase in phase noise is mainly due to the broadening of the laser linewidth caused by stimulated Brillouin scattering, which is verified through linewidth measurements in the absence and presence of the stimulated Brillouin scattering.  相似文献

A refractive index intensity detecting sensor with long-period grating written in the single-mode–thin-core–single-mode fiber(STS) structure is proposed and optimized theoretically. The sensor is composed of two single-mode fibers connected by a section of long-period fiber grating fabricated on thin-core fiber. After optimization and benefitting from the phase matching point, the loss peak of the structure can reach 62.8 d B theoretically. The wavelength of the characteristic peak is fixed at the phase matching point, so intensity detection can be achieved. The sensitivity can reach 272.5 d B/RIU. The structural optimization in this Letter provides a reference for the fabrication of an easy-made all-fiber sensor without extra cladding.  相似文献

We present a method for metal coating optical fiber and in-fiber Bragg grating. The technology process which is based on electroless plating and electroplating method is described in detail. The fiber is firstly coated with a thin copper or nickel plate with electroless plating method. Then, a thicker nickel plate is coated on the surface of the conductive layer. Under the optimum conditions, the surfaces of chemical plating and electroplating coatings are all smooth and compact. There is no visible defect found in the cross-section. Using this two-step metallization method, the in-fiber Bragg grating can be well protected and its thermal sensitivity can be enhanced. After the metallization process, the fiber sensor is successfully embedded in the 42CrMo steel by brazing method. Thus a smart metal structure is achieved. The embedding results show that the plating method for metallization protection of in-fiber Bragg grating is effective.  相似文献

Far-infrared reflection and Raman scattering measurements have been carried out on reactive ion, etched p-ZnTe samples. The averaged thickness of the surface damaged layer is found to be in the range of 1.0-1.5μm, and the, etch-induced defect density is in the order of 10^{18}cm^{-3}. The Raman intensity ratio between the second-order Raman peaks and the first-order longitudinal optical phonons reveals an increase trend with the radio frequency (rf) power. With the aid of related theories, we discuss the effects of the rf plasma power and the concentration of CH_4/H_2 on the damage, disorder, and the second-order Raman structures in p-ZnTe samples.  相似文献

Tunable and low bending loss of liquid-core fiber   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The liquid-core fiber with relatively high refractive index difference between the core and cladding is proven to be bending insensitive. The single mode condition and bending loss of the fiber with a mixture of toluene and chloroform as its core material are studied. The results show that the bending loss of this fiber is not only much smaller than the conventional silica single mode fiber but also can be tuned by the temperature and liquid mixture ratio. This kind of fiber may find its potential applications in all-optical network.  相似文献

In this paper,a method of choosing mixture medium in two-cell stimulated Brillouinscattering(SBS)system to improve the system performance is proposed. The Brillouin frequency shift(BFS)of mixture medium varies with the mixing ratio andthus the difference of the BFS between the two cells can be eliminated. The two-cellSBS system with acetone(C3H6O)in its generator cell and mixture liquid ofCCl4/C2Cl4 in its amplifier cell is investigated. The C3H6O has a high optical breakdown threshold and the mixture liquid of CCl4/C2Cl4 has a small absorption coeffi-cient and the same BFS as that of C3H6O when the volume fraction of CCl4 is 4%.Compared with two-cell SBS system with the same liquid(C2Cl4)or different liquid(C3H6O and C2Cl4)in generator and amplifier cell, the SBS system with mixture liq-uid(CCl4/C2Cl4)in amplifier cell and C3H6O in generator cell improves thepower-load,energy reflectivity(ER),phase conjugation(PC)fidelity and ER stabil-ity.  相似文献

A dual-source distributed optical fiber sensor system with combined Raman and Brillouin scatterings is designed for simultaneous temperature and strain measurements. The optimal Raman and Brillouin signals can be separately obtained by adjusting the powers of the two sources using an optical switch. The temperature and strain can be determined by processing the optimal Raman and Brillouin signals. The experimental result shows that 1.7 ?C temperature resolution and 60-με strain resolution can be achieved at a 24.7-km distance.  相似文献

A stable and uniform multi-wavelength fiber laser based on the hybrid gain of a dispersion compensating fiber as the Raman gain medium and an erbium-doped fiber (EDF) is introduced. The gain competition effects in the fiber Raman amplification (FRA) and EDF amplification are analyzed and compared experimentally. The FRA gain mechanism can suppress the gain competition effectively and make the present multi-wavelength laser stable at room temperature. The hybrid gain medium can also increase the lasing bandwidth compared with a pure EDF laser, and improve the power conversion efficiency compared with a pure fiber Raman laser.  相似文献
