Manganese nanoparticles were grown in silica glass and silica film on silicon substrate by annealing of the sol-gel prepared porous silicate matrices doped with manganese nitrate. Annealing of doped porous silicate matrices was performed at various conditions that allowed to obtain the nanocomposite glasses with various content of metallic Mn. TEM of Mn/SiO2 glass indicates the bimodal size distribution of Mn nanoparticles with mean sizes of 10.5 nm and 21 nm. The absorption and photoluminescence spectra of Mn/SiO2 glasses were measured. In the absorption spectra at 300 nm (4.13 eV) we observed the band attributed to the surface plasmon resonance in Mn nanoparticles. The spectra proved the creation of Mn2+ and Mn3+ ions in silica glass as well. The absorption spectra of Mn/SiO2 glasses annealed in air prove the creation of manganese oxide Mn2O3. The measured reflection spectra of Mn/SiO2 film manifest at 240-310 nm the peculiarity attributed to surface plasmons in Mn nanoparticles.  相似文献

Here, we have examined the role of capping agent on the optical properties of CdS nanoparticles by steady-state and time-resolved photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. The estimated particles sizes are 3.45, 2.5 and 2.39 nm for uncapped, capped with silica (SiO2) and thiosalicylic acid (TSA), respectively. The absorption and emission spectra show a clear blue shift to shorter wavelengths in presence of TSA- and SiO2-capped nanoparticles. It is found that the average decay time 〈τ〉 are 6.24, 4.54 and 2.84 ns for uncapped, capped with SiO2 and TSA nanoparticles, respectively. Our analysis suggests that the hole or the electron is trapped on thiol molecule of TSA or hydroxyl group of SiO2, then radiative recombination of the electron and hole is delayed, resulting in strong quenching of PL efficiency.  相似文献

The temperature dependence of the luminescence properties of nanocrystalline CdS/Mn2+ particles is investigated. In addition to an orange Mn2+ emission around 585 nm a red defect related emission around 700 nm is observed. The temperature quenching of both emissions is similar (Tq≈100 K). For the defect emission the reduction in the lifetime follows the temperature dependence of the intensity. For the Mn2+ emission however, the intensity decreases more rapidly than the lifetime with increasing temperature. To explain these observations a model is proposed in which the Mn2+ ions are excited via an intermediate state involving shallowly trapped (≈40 meV) charge carriers.  相似文献

Mg2SnO4, which has an inverse spinel structure, was adopted as the host material of a new green emitting phosphor. Luminescence properties of the manganese-doped magnesium tin oxide prepared by the solid state reaction were investigated under vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) ray and low-voltage electron excitation. The Mg2SnO4:Mn phosphor exhibited green luminescence with the emission spectrum centered at 500 nm due to spin flip transition of the d-orbital electron associated with the Mn2+ ion. Optimum Mn concentration of Mg2SnO4:Mn under VUV excitation with 147 nm wavelength and electron beam excitation with 800 V excitation voltage are 0.25 and 0.6 mol%, respectively. The emission intensities of Mg2SnO4:Mn phosphors under the two excitation sources are higher than those of Zn2SiO4:Mn and ZnGa2O4:Mn phosphors. At 0.25 mol% of Mn concentration, on the other hand, the decay time is shorter than 10 ms.  相似文献

Zinc oxide nanoparticles were synthesized using chemical method in alcohol base. During synthesis three capping agents, i.e. triethanolamine (TEA), oleic acid and thioglycerol, were used and the effect of concentrations was analyzed for their effectiveness in limiting the particle growth. Thermal stability of ZnO nanoparticles prepared using TEA, oleic acid and thioglycerol capping agents, was studied using thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA). ZnO nanoparticles capped with TEA showed maximum weight loss. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used for structural and morphological characterization of ZnO nanoparticles. Particle size was evaluated using effective mass approximation method from UV-vis spectroscopy and Scherrer's formula from XRD patterns. XRD analysis revealed single crystal ZnO nanoparticles of size 12-20 nm in case of TEA capping. TEA, oleic acid and thioglycerol capped synthesized ZnO nanoparticles were investigated at room temperature photoluminescence for three excitation wavelengths i.e. 304, 322 and 325 nm, showing strong peaks at about 471 nm when excited at 322 and 325 nm whereas strong peak was observed at 411 for 304 nm excitation.  相似文献

The interaction of DNA bases and corresponding nucleotides with CdS nanoparticles (NPs), biofunctionalized by cysteine, has been investigated by absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy. Unique enhancement effect of adenine, in contrast to other nucleobases, on the luminescence of cysteine capped CdS (cys-CdS) NPs at both pH 7.5 and 10.5 was found, the extent of enhancement being much higher at pH 10.5. At the latter pH, the difference optical absorption spectra show development of new peak at 278 nm with corresponding decrease in the absorption of adenine at 260 nm, which is attributed to binding of adenine anion to the CdS surface through N7 of the purine ring. Appearance of a new band at 478 cm−1 and concomitant shift in the C8-N7 vibrations to 1610 cm−1 in the FTIR spectra of cys-CdS NPs with adenine also suggest Cd-N7 binding on the particle surface. Amongst various nucleotides, ATP exhibited maximum luminescence enhancement on CdS NPs for a given change in concentration in the micro-molar range at physiological pH. A quantitative correlation between ATP concentration and PL enhancement of CdS NPs has been established, a step which in future might assist in developing new protocols for fluorescence sensing of adenine nucleotides under certain pathological conditions.  相似文献

Functionalized nanoparticles are discussed. Surfaces of CdS:Mn/ZnS core/shell nanospheres (Qdots) were converted from hydrophobic to hydrophilic by growth of a SiO2 shell. The colloidal dispersion was stabilize by adding a surfactant with a negative surface charge, and a cell-penetrating-peptide, TAT, was attached through a primary amine group. The TAT functionalized Qdots were shown to pass the blood-brain-barrier and luminescence in the infused half of the brain. In addition, nanorods of S2− rich CdS were synthesized by reaction of excess S with Cd precursors in the presence of ethylene diamine. The photoluminescence (PL) peak from the S2− rich CdS nanorods was broad with a maximum at ∼710 nm, which was 40 nm longer in wavelength than the PL peak from Cd2+ rich CdS (∼670 nm) nanorods. The influence of surface electron or hole trap states on the luminescent pathway of CdS nanorods were used to explain these shifts in wavelength. Nanocrystals of Au with ∼2 nm diameters were grown on S2− rich surfaces of CdS nanorods. Significant quenching of photoluminescence was observed from Au nanocrystals on CdS nanorods due to interfacial charge separation. Charge separation by Au nanocrystals on CdS resulted in enhanced UV photocatalytic degradation of Procion red mix-5B (PRB) dye in aqueous solution.  相似文献

Magnetic properties of Co nanoparticles of 1.8 nm diameter embedded in Mn and Ag matrices have been studied as a function of the volume fraction (VFF). While the Co nanoparticles in the Ag matrix show superparamagnetic behavior with TB=9.5 K (1.5% VFF) and TB=18.5 K (8.9% VFF), the Co nanoparticles in the antiferromagnetic Mn matrix show a transition peak at ∼65 K in the ZFC/FC susceptibility measurements, and an increase of the coercive fields at low temperature with respect to the Ag matrix. Exchange bias due to the interface exchange coupling between Co particles and the antiferromagnetic Mn matrix has also been studied. The exchange bias field (Heb), observed for all Co/Mn samples below 40 K, decreases with decreasing volume fraction and with increasing temperature and depends on the field of cooling (Hfc). Exchange bias is accompanied by an increase of coercivity.  相似文献

The influence of different M2+ cations on the effective magnetic anisotropy of systems composed of MFe2O4 (M=Fe, Co and Mn) nanoparticles was investigated. Samples were prepared by the high-temperature (538 K) solution phase reaction of Fe (acac)3, Co (acac)2 and Mn (acac)2 with 1,2 octanodiol in the presence of oleic acid and oleylamine. The final particles are coated by an organic layer of oleic acid that prevents agglomeration. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images show that particles present near spherical form and a narrow grain size distribution, with mean diameters in the range of 4.5–7.6 nm. Powder samples were analyzed by ac susceptibility and Mössbauer measurements, and Keff for all samples was evaluated using both techniques, showing a strong dependence on the nature of the divalent cation.

Poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP)-capped CdS nanoparticles were prepared with CS2 as the sulfur source through the hydrothermal process. The obtained nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopic, ultraviolet–visible and fluorescence spectroscopy. The capped CdS nanoparticles showed remarkable stability and significantly enhanced luminescence property compared with that of the noncapped ones. We attributed this observation to the surface passivation of the CdS nanoparticles by the PVP molecules.  相似文献

ZnS:Cu,Mn phosphors were prepared by conventional solid state reaction with the aid of NaCl-MgCl2 flux at 900 °C. The samples were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, UV-vis absorbance spectra and photoluminescence spectra. All samples possess cubic structure. Cu has a much stronger effect on the absorption property of ZnS than Mn. Incorporation of Mn into ZnS host only slightly enhances the light absorption, while addition of Cu remarkably increases the ability of absorption due to ground state Cu+ absorption. The emission spectra of the ZnS:Cu,Mn phosphors consist of three bands centered at about 452, 520 and 580 nm, respectively. Introduction of Mn significantly quenches the green luminescence of ZnS:Cu. The excitation energy absorbed by Cu is efficiently transferred to Mn activators non-radiatively and the Mn luminescence can be sensitized by Cu behaving as a sensitizer (energy donor).  相似文献

We present a novel two-step chemical synthesis route to produce of disodium ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) capped and europium doped CdS nanoparticles. First EDTA was applied to chelate with cadmium on the surface of cadmium-rich CdS nanoparticles and act as a capping agent. Further, the purified EDTA-capped particles were used to bind with Eu3+. The purified and redispersed particles were characterized by UV/vis absorption, photoluminescence, TEM and SEM. It was observed that Eu3+ on the nanoparticle surface significantly increased the band gap emission intensity of the CdS nanoparticles.  相似文献

Rare earth doped NaLa(WO4)2 nanoparticles have been prepared by a simply hydrothermal synthesis procedure. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern shows that the Eu3+-doped NaLa(WO4)2 nanoparticles with an average size of 10-30 nm can be obtained via hydrothermal treatment for different time at 180 °C. The luminescence intensity of Eu3+-doped NaLa(WO4)2 nanoparticles depended on the size of the nanoparticles. The bright upconversion luminescence of the 2 mol% Er3+ and 20 mol% Yb3+ codoped NaLa(WO4)2 nanoparticles under 980 nm excitation could also be observed. The Yb3+-Er3+ codoped NaLa(WO4)2 nanoparticles prepared by the hydrothermal treatment at 180 °C and then heated at 600 °C shows a 20 times stronger upconversion luminescence than those prepared by hydrothermal treatment at 180 °C or by hydrothermal treatment at 180 °C and then heated at 400 °C.  相似文献

Green emission at around 500 nm is observed in Gd2O3:Ce3+ nanoparticles and the intensity is highly dependent on the concentration of Ce3+ in the nanoparticles. The luminescence of this emission displays both picosecond (ps) and millisecond (ms) lifetimes. The ms lifetime is over four orders of magnitude longer than typical luminescence lifetimes (10-40 ns) of Ce3+ in traditional Ce3+ doped phosphors and therefore likely originates from defect states. The picosecond lifetime is shorter than the typical Ce3+ value and is also likely due to defect or surface states. When the samples are annealed at 700 °C, this emission disappears possibly due to changes in the defect moieties or concentration. In addition, a blue emission at around 430 nm is observed in freshly prepared Gd2O3 undoped nanoparticles, which is attributed to the stabilizer, polyethylene glycol biscarboxymethyl ether. On aging, the undoped particles show similar emission to the doped particles with similar luminescence lifetimes. When Eu3+ ions are co-doped in Gd2O3:Ce nanoparticles, both the green emission and the emission at 612 nm from Eu3+ are observed.  相似文献

The nanocrystalline Gd2O3:Eu3+ powders with cubic phase were prepared by a combustion method in the presence of urea and glycol. The effects of the annealing temperature on the crystallization and luminescence properties were studied. The results of XRD show pure phase can be obtained, the average crystallite size could be calculated as 7, 8, 15, and 23 nm for the precursor and samples annealed at 600, 700 and 800 °C, respectively, which coincided with the results from TEM images. The emission intensity, host absorption and charge transfer band intensity increased with increasing the temperature. The slightly broad emission peak at 610 nm for smaller particles can be observed. The ratio of host absorption to O2−-Eu3+ charge transfer band of smaller nanoparticles is much stronger compared with that for larger nanoparticles, furthermore, the luminescence lifetimes of nanoparticles increased with increasing particles size. The effects of doping concentration of Eu3+ on luminescence lifetimes and intensities were also discussed. The samples exhibited a higher quenching concentration of Eu3+, and luminescence lifetimes of nanoparticles are related to annealing temperature of samples and the doping concentration of Eu3+ ions.  相似文献

In this work, formation of gold nanoparticles in radio frequency (RF) reactive magnetron co-sputtered Au-SiO2 thin films post annealed at different temperatures in Ar + H2 atmosphere has been investigated. Optical, surface topography, chemical state and crystalline properties of the prepared films were analyzed by using UV-visible spectrophotometry, atomic force microscopy (AFM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and X-ray diffractometry (XRD) techniques, respectively. Optical absorption spectrum of the Au-SiO2 thin films annealed at 800 °C showed one surface plasmon resonance (SPR) absorption peak located at 520 nm relating to gold nanoparticles. According to XPS analysis, it was found that the gold nanoparticles had a tendency to accumulate on surface of the heat-treated films in the metallic state. AFM images showed that the nanoparticles were uniformly distributed on the film surface with grain size of about 30 nm. Using XRD analysis average crystalline size of the Au particles was estimated to about 20 nm.  相似文献

Terbium (1 mol%) doped ZnO-SiO2 binary system was prepared by a sol-gel process. Nanoscopic effects of ZnO on the photoluminescence (PL) and the cathodoluminescence (CL) properties were studied. Defects emission from ZnO nanoparticles was measured at 560 nm and the line emission from Tb3+ ions in SiO2:Tb3+ and ZnO-SiO2:Tb3+ with a major peak at 542 nm was measured. The PL excitation wavelength for 542 nm Tb3+ emission was measured at ∼320 nm in both SiO2:Tb3+ and ZnO-SiO2:Tb3+. The CL data showed quenched luminescence of the ZnO nanoparticles at 560 nm from a composite of ZnO-SiO2:Tb3+ and a subsequent increase in 542 nm emission from the Tb3+ ions. This suggests that energy was transferred from the ZnO nanoparticles to enhance the green emission of the Tb3+ ions. The PL and CL properties of ZnO-SiO2:Tb3+ binary system and possible mechanism for energy transfer from the ZnO nanoparticles to Tb3+ ions are discussed.  相似文献

Stearic acid coated Bi2O3 nanoparticles in the size range of 5-13 nm were synthesized by the microemulsion method. HRTEM showed that the morphology of Bi2O3 nanoparticles was ellipsoidal. The absorption edge of Bi2O3 nanoparticles showed a blue shift of ∼0.45 eV, comparing with that of the bulk Bi2O3. At room temperature, Bi2O3 nanoparticles also showed a strong luminescence at 397 and 420 nm, depending on the excitation wavelength.  相似文献

CdS:Mn2+/ZnS and CdS:Mn2+/CdS core–shell nanoparticles were synthesized in aqueous medium via chemical precipitation method in an ambient atmosphere. Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) was used as a capping agent. The effect of the shell (ZnS and CdS) thickness on CdS:Mn2+ nanoparticles was investigated. Inorganically passivated core/shell nanocrystals having a core (CdS:Mn2+) diameter of 4 nm and a ZnS-shell thickness of ∼0.5 nm exhibited improved PL intensity. Optimum concentration of doping ions (Mn2+) was selected through optical study. For all the core–shell samples two emission peaks were observed, the first one is band edge emission in the lower wavelength side due to energy transfer to the Mn2+ ions in the crystal lattice; the second emission is characteristic peak of Mn2+ ions (4T1 → 6A1). The XRD, TEM and PL results showed that the synthesized core–shell particles were of high quality and monodisperse.  相似文献
