When fast Xq+ X^{q^ + } ions collide with atomic or molecular targets, the total charge exchange cross section decreases with increasing target density. This is because the excitation levels of resulting X(q - 1)+ X^{(q - 1)^ + } ions are suppressed because of ionization by target atoms. The effect of target density on the total charge exchange cross section may amount to one order of magnitude or more depending on the charge and energy of an incident ion, as well as on the density and inner shell configuration of target atoms. Numerical calculations are performed for partial (in the principal quantum number n) cross sections σ(n) and total cross sections σtotnσ(n) of charge exchange in the case of collisions of fast multiply charged ions having an energy E in the range 100 keV/u-10 MeV/u with gas or solid targets.  相似文献

Dependences of single-electron charge transfer cross sections on the molecule orientation are studied in collisions between α-particles and H2 molecules in the ground state at collision energies E c from 1 to 23 keV/u. Probabilities of single-electron capture were calculated in the independent electron approximation in the context of the close coupling equation method under the assumption that the hydrogen molecule consists of two independent hydrogen pseudoatoms. The total and partial single-electron capture cross sections averaged over all orientations of the molecule well agree with available experimental data at E c > 5 keV/u.  相似文献

The charge exchange and excitation cross sections at collisions of alphas with O4+(1s 22s 2) impurity atoms in a hot plasma for striking energies E c varying from 20 keV to 2 MeV are determined for the first time. The cross sections are calculated using the method of close-coupling equations with 13 singlet four-electron quasi-molecular states taken as a basis. The partial cross sections of charge transfer to the 1s, 2s, and 2p states of a He+ ion and for O4+(1s 22s 2) → O4+(1s 22lnl’) (n = 2, 3) electronic excitation of an oxygen ion are found. The maximal value of the charge exchange total cross section roughly equals 2.2 × 10?16 cm2 at E c ≈ 0.7 MeV. The excitation total cross section has a maximum of ≈ 7.7 × 10?16 cm2 at E c ≈ 80 keV for single-electron excitation and ≈6.5 × 10?16 cm2 at E c ≈ 0.7 MeV for two-electron excitation.  相似文献

The decay of125m Xe produced by the reaction122Te(α, n)125m Xe using a target enriched in122Te (95.4%) and the decay of127m Xe produced by the reaction127J(d, 2n)127m Xe have been investigated: 125m Xe decays with a half-life ofT 1/2=(56±3) sec by ayy- cascade withE γ1=(140.4 ±0.5) keV andE γ2=(110.5 ±0.5) keV. The experimental conversion coefficients yield multipolarities ofE3 for the 140.4 keV isomeric transition and predominantlyM1 for the 110.5 keV-transition. 127m Xe decays with a half-life ofT 1/2=(71±2) sec. The decay also proceeds by aγγ-cascade with an isomeric E3 transition ofE γ1=(172.5±0.3) keV and a predominantlyM1 transition ofE γ2=(124.6±0.3) keV. In the decay of127g Xe an additional branching of the electron capture to a level at (618.1±0.3) keV was observed. The relative probability forK-captureP K618/PK375=0.40 ±0.07 yields a total transition energyQ EC=(664 ±4)keV. A spin of 1/2+ was assigned to the ground state.  相似文献

Integral cross sections for fission and for one- and two-neutron transfer reactions in the system132Xe+238U were measured radiochemically in the energy range 0.7≦E/E Coul≦1. The excitation functions for fission and transfer are found to be essentially parallel below 0.85×E Coul. Even at the lowest energies the transfer cross sections exceed the fission cross section by more than one order of magnitude. With the other projectiles129Xe and136Xe different transfer cross sections illustrating their sensitivity for the ground stateQ-values,Q gg , are observed while the fission cross sections are the same as in the132Xe +238U reaction. The fission data are interpreted in terms of a continuous transition between Coulomb fission and several transfer-induced fission processes.  相似文献

An intrinsic germanium detector was used to measure the beta endpoint energies of heavy fission products supplied by the on line mass separator OSTIS installed at the high flux reactor of the Institut Max von Laue-Paul Langevin, Grenoble. The endpoints of singles-spectra have been determined and, by means of beta-gamma coincidence measurements also most of theQ β-values of the following neutron-rich nuclides could be deduced with high accuracy:138Cs: (5388±25)keV,139Cs: (4213±5)keV,139Ba: (2336±25)keV,140Cs: (6220±15)keV,141Cs: (5252+15/-60)keV,141Ba: (3208±35)keV.142Cs: (7329±20)keV,143Cs: (6287+40/-250)keV,143Ba: (4259±40)keV,144Cs: (8451±30)keV,145Cs: (7358±70)keV.146Cs: (9300±900)keV,146Ba: (4280±100)keV.146La: (6175±100)keV. The results are compared with experimental results of direct mass measurements and some predictions by mass formulae.  相似文献

In this paper, we report the coherent scattering cross sections of some lanthanides at low momentum transfer in four angular ranges of (0°?4°), (0°?6°), (0°?8°) and for 241Am (59.54 keV) and 137Cs (661.6 keV) gamma rays. The coherent scattering cross sections were derived by subtracting the small contribution of the corresponding angle integrated incoherent scattering cross sections from the experimentally measured total (coherent + incoherent) scattering cross sections for the elements and energies of interest. The coherent scattering cross sections were found to agree with the corresponding theoretical cross sections within the range of experimental errors. The theoretical coherent scattering cross sections were computed by numerically integrating the S-matrix data of the elements in the angular ranges of interest. The incoherent scattering cross sections were based on the compilations which make use of the non-relativistic Hartree-Fock (NRHF) model for the atomic charge distribution.  相似文献

α-decay half-lives for 104, 105, 106Te and 108, 109, 110Xe close above the doubly-magic 100Sn are calculated from systematic double-folding potentials. The derived α preformation factors are compared to results for 212, 213, 214Po and 216, 217, 218Rn above the doubly-magic 208Pb. α-decay energies of Q α = 5.42±0.07MeV and 4.65±0.15MeV are predicted for 104Te and 108Xe; the corresponding half-lives are T 1/2 ≈ 5ns for 104Te and of the order of 60μs for 108Xe. Additionally, the properties of rotational bands in 104Te are analyzed, and the first excited 2+ state in 104Te is predicted at E x = 650±40keV; it decays preferentially by γ emission with a reduced transition strength of 10 Weisskopf units to the ground state of 104Te and with a minor branch by α emission to the ground state of 100Sn.  相似文献

The cross sections for quenching the lowestn 2 P states of the alkali atoms Li, Na, K., and Rb by the inert gases He, Ne, Ar, Kr, and Xe are presented for 5 eV≦E c.m.≦ 100 eV. These cross sections are derived from the corresponding cross sections for collisional excitation by applying the principle of microreversibility. Upper estimates for the quenching cross sections at thermal energies are given; in all studied cases the quenching cross sections are <8·10?3Å2. These new upper limits are in most cases much lower than those obtained from other methods previously.  相似文献

A combined analysis of the available data on the primaryγ-ray intensities from the113Cd(n, γ) reaction atE n=1.9 and 24.3 keV neutron energies together with the data on113Cd neutron capture cross sections in theE n=3–200 keV energy region was carried out. The neutron strength functions were determined asS n0=(0.260±0.073) 10?4 and Sn1=(5.06±0.67) 10?4. No spin-orbit splitting of thep-wave neutron strength function was found. The energy dependence of theE 1 radiative strength function {ie147-01} was fitted by the Kadmenski-Furman model somewhat better than by a standard Lorentzian. TheM 1 giant resonance parameters were obtained as E G M 1 =8.8±1.6 MeV and Γ G M 1 = 4.7±2.6 MeV. The neutron capture cross section of113Cd from its isomeric state ({ie147-02}=11/2?, E 1 m =263.7 keV) was calculated.  相似文献

The electron loss and electron capture cross sections σ i,i+m and σ i,im for boron ions and atoms traveling at the velocities V=1.19 and 1.83 a.u. in H2, He, N2, Ne, Ar, and Xe are measured. The known experimental data on these cross sections at velocities near the cross-section maximum are analyzed. It is found that the electron loss cross sections can be described by a formula which was previously derived in the free-collision approximation and takes into account features of both the ions and the ambient atoms. As the nuclear charge Z t of the ambient atoms increases, the cross sections vary nonmonotonically, increasing on average as Zt t 1/2 . A formula based on the model of independent electrons is proposed for electron capture by ions with small values of the charge i. It describes the dependence of the electron capture cross section σ i,i−1 on the mean binding energy of an electron in an ion with the charge i−1. The total electron capture cross section σ i,i−1 is proportional to the number of vacancies in the unfilled electron shell nearest the nucleus. The cross sections i,i−1 exhibit substantially nonmonotonic variation with Z t, increasing on average as Z t 1/3 . Zh. éksp. Teor. Fiz. 116, 1539–1550 (November 1999)  相似文献

Based on the available experimental data and the results of calculations carried out in this paper, cross sections are estimated for single-electron stripping of O Z+ (Z=1–7) ions with energies in the range E=0.5–200 MeV/u due to collisions with H, He, N, O, or Ar atoms. Analytical approximations of the cross sections are presented.  相似文献

Beam depletion spectroscopy has been used to measure absolute total inelastic electron-sodium cluster collision cross sections in the energy range fromE0.1 toE6 eV. The investigation focused on the closed shell clusters Na8, Na20, and Na40. The measured cross sections show an increase for the lowest collision energies where electron attachment is the primary scattering channel. The electron attachment cross section can be understood in terms of Langevin scattering, connecting this measurement with the polarizability of the cluster. For energies above the dissociation energy the measured electron-cluster cross section is energy independent, thus defining an electron-cluster interaction range. This interaction range increases with the cluster size.  相似文献

We have measured attenuation cross sections and fragmentation cross sections for protonated water clusters H(H2O)n + (n = 1 to 100) colliding with noble gas atoms (He and Xe) at a laboratory energy of 50 keV. In collisions with He, a transparency effect in the attenuation cross section was observed. For the case of fragmentation in collisions with Xe, a strong enhancement of small clusters was observed which we attribute to multifragmentation. Received 30 November 2000  相似文献

The dealignment of the 5/2 1 + excited nuclear state of19F (E x=197keV) has been determined for foil-excited fluorine ions of energies 3 and 6 MeV recoiling in He, N2 and Ar gases using backscatter-coincidence excitation with He++ and the recoil-distance technique. The observed decay of nuclear alignment with increasing gas pressure was interpreted in a microscopic collision model using theories of statistically perturbed angular correlations. The strong velocity dependence of the dealignment cross section indicates the dominance of charge exchange, e.g. capture, processes in producing the ionic states of strong hyperfine interaction.Work supported in part by Bundesministerium für Forschung und Technologie.  相似文献

The lifetimes of several negative-parity states in126,130Xe and132Ba have been determined by means of the generalized centroid-shift method. The reactions124,128Te(α,2n) and122Sn(13C, 3n) have been used. Neutrons of energies within a 50 eV interval at 1970 eV have been selected from reactor neutrons by means of resonance scattering on a target of63Cu and subsequently by the 1970 eV resonance of a80Se target. Insertion of stationary filters and the technique of difference measurements with a resonance filter resulted in a high selectivity, which allowed the determination of cross sections for quasi-monoenergetic neutrons for the elements: H, C, O, F, Na, Mg, Al, Si, P, Cl, K, Ca, Sc, Ti, V, Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Ga, Pb and Bi. The precision cross sections of Pb and H contribute to investigations of fundamental neutron interactions. The measured σ(Pb)=11.198±0.003 b was recently used to deriveα n=(0.8±1)10?3 fm3 for the electric polarizability of the neutron. The neutron-proton cross sectionσ(1 H)=20.13±0.03 b and data at 143 keV, 〈1.3〉 MeV, 〈2.1〉 MeV and from the literature provide a refined set of the scattering parameters for the shape-independent effective-range approximation of the neutron-proton interaction.  相似文献

Using the204Hg(α, 3n) reaction withα-particles of about 40 MeV, we have proved by applying nowadays conventionalγ-ray spectroscopy in-beam technique, that there are two isomeric states in205Pb at the excitation energies 5,161.3 and 3,195.5 keV having the half-lives 71±3 and 217±5 ns, respectively. These isomeric states have spins and parities 33/2+ and 25/2? and are mainly due to thei 13 2/?3 andi 13 2/?2 p 1 2/?1 configurations, respectively. This conclusion is supported by the experimentalg-factors of these states being ?0.159±0.008 and ?0.0676±0.0011, respectively. It is furthermore shown that theE2 effective neutron charge is the same forE2 transitions from the 33/2+ state in205Pb and from the 12+ state in206Pb as required by the assumption that the208Pb core is responsible for the totalE2 strength of the neutron holes, and that these states are due to thei 13 2/?3 andi 13 2/?2 configurations. The calculatedB(E3) values ofE3 transitions from isomeric states in205Pb and206Pb agree reasonably well with the experimental values as expected from the assumption that theE3-strength should come from particle coupling to the octupole states of the208Pb core. The energies of the six most well established excited states in205Pb with angular momenta in the region 19/2–33/2 were calculated using empirical single-particle energies, empirical two-particle interactions and angular momentum algebra. The average deviation between experimental and calculated energies is ?3 keV and the root mean square deviation 6 keV as compared to the uncertainty ± 5 keV in the nuclear masses used in the calculation. For the orbits concerned the shell model is thus valid with an extremely high precision. The contribution of effective three-particle interaction in these orbits must consequently be less than about 5 keV.  相似文献

Abstact: The elastic scattering cross sections, σ (E,θ), for the systems He+Ta and He+W have been measured at θlab=165° and E lab=76.1 keV to 3.988 MeV using targets with a thickness of a few atomic layers. The results are smaller than the results given by the Rutherford scattering law, σR(E,θ), due to the effects of electron screening and can be described by σ(E,θ)/σR(E,θ)=(1+Ue/E)−1, where U e is an atomic screening potential energy. The deduced average value, U e=28 ± 3 keV, is consistent with the Moliére- and Lenz-Jensen-models as well as electron binding energies. Received: 25 May 1998  相似文献
