A coplanar slow-wave electrode with periodic cross-tie overlays has been used to satisfy the essential phase velocity matching between the modulation and optical waves for wideband travelling-wave optical modulators. For an optimized modulator of 4 mm length at 1.3 m light wavelength, the calculated halfwave modulation voltage (23 V) is slightly higher than that (20 V) of conventional coplanar modulators but the 3 dB bandwidth (100 GHz) is much wider than the bandwidth limit (30 GHz) of walkoff-limited conventional coplanar modulators. The measured effective index (4.61) of the modulation wave is much higher than that (2.65) of conventional coplanar electrodes and agrees very well with the calculated one (4.25).  相似文献

This paper proposes a new crosstie overlay slow-wave structure for a traveling-wave electro-optical modulator and presents a design method including design considerations for the optimum structure. This structure can be designed to satisfy the phase velocity and impedance matching conditions simultaneously over a broad spectral bandwidth.  优化设计了一种220 GHz的折叠波导慢波结构的尺寸,对其冷测特性如色散、耦合阻抗和衰减进行了分析。理论分析和软件仿真结果表明设计的折叠波导慢波结构在中心频率处具有较平缓的色散关系,较高的耦合阻抗和较低的电路衰减。互作用模拟表明,在电子注电压为20 kV,电流为10 mA时,27 mm(50个周期)的折叠波导慢波结构在220 GHz具有14.5 dB的增益,3 dB带宽为16.3 GHz(211.9~228.2 GHz)。  相似文献

比较了四种马赫-陈德尔调制器的结构特性,表明Z切共面波导(CPW)是最好的一种结构。用阶跃倒相电极设计了新型电光光波导幅度调制器,研制了包装式带尾光纤的有5段例相电极的马赫-陈德尔调制器。在1.532μm波长上,该器件调制带宽为14.8GHz,半波电压为14V,消光比为21.3dB,光纤-器件-光纤插入损耗7.6dB。  相似文献

针对通信与雷达系统对双极化与宽带天线的要求,提出了一种基于带状线馈电的双极化蝶形天线。通过两对互相正交的蝶形阵子实现了天线的双极化,并采用一种新型的微带线转异面带状线的巴伦给两对正交蝶形阵子平衡馈电。异面带状线为平衡传输线,满足了蝶形阵子对于平衡馈电的要求。在馈电点处由同轴线对微带线馈电,经渐变微带线转化为异面带状线,最后由两组异面带状线给两对正交蝶形阵子馈电。测得该天线实现了69.23%的阻抗带宽,在6.8~14GHz频带内电压驻波比(VSWR)小于2。为使天线单向辐射且改善天线增益,将天线放置于反射吸收腔内。测得天线在6.8~18GHz的频宽内VSWR基本小于3,天线增益在8~12GHz频带内大于0.11dB,天线前后瓣比大于15dB。因此,所提出的双极化蝶形天线可用于宽带通信系统中。  相似文献

提出了一种新型的菱形微带曲折线慢波结构。该结构可适用于低电压、宽带宽、中等功率水平的高效率毫米波行波管。和传统的慢波结构相比,微带曲折线是一种平面结构,因此其加工工艺可采用2维微细加工技术。该结构可以用带状电子束进行注-波互作用,并且不需要额外的电子束通道。给出了菱形微带曲折线慢波结构在140 GHz的色散曲线和注-波互作用模拟分析。研究结果显示:在输入功率为40 mW,带状电子束的电流和工作电压分别为90 mA和7 kV的条件下,该微带曲折线行波管可以获得数十W功率输出,互作用效率可达14.3%,瞬时3 dB带宽为18 GHz(132~150 GHz)。  相似文献

The characteristics of Z- cut LiNbO3 optical modulators with novel complex electrode are discussed by using the finite element method (FEM) and studied experimentally in this paper. The travelling wave electrode consists of upper and lower parts. It can easily realize phase velocity matching between microwave and optical wave and drastically reduce microwave electrode loss. An electrooptic modulator with larger than 100 GHz bandwidth and half wave voltage 6 V is designed, fabricated and measured. Vπ is 5.1 V and the attenuation coefficient a0 is 0.3 dB/(cm· GHz1/2 ). The experimental results show that the modulator has great potentiality for expanding bandwidth.  相似文献

提出采用圆形电子注和双排矩形梳状慢波结构作为W波段宽频带行波管注波互作用回路. 对该慢波回路的"冷"态特性、输入输出结构等方面进行了模拟仿真和分析, 研究结果表明, 该结构色散特性较好, 带宽较宽; 通过调整双排矩形梳状慢波结构之间的距离和电子注通道半径的尺寸, 圆形电子注系统取得了和带状注系统相同的耦合阻抗; 且该结构传输特性较好, 优化后整管的驻波比能在较宽的频带内保持在2以下. 此外, 对该慢波系统的大信号理论计算和PIC粒子模拟结果一致. 在50 mW驱动功率下, 输出功率在10 GHz带宽内大于40 W, 增益高于29 dB.  相似文献

详细分析了由x切LiNbO3干涉式共面波导行波调制器阵列构成的模数(A/D)转换器,包括其研究进展。采用保角变换方法分析了梯形共面波导电极参数(包括电极厚度、缓冲层厚度与中心电极和接地电极的边沿倾角β1,βg)与转换器的带宽、损耗、特征阻抗和驱动功率的关系。β1=βg=10°,电极厚度为3μm时,4位A/D转换器的工作带宽为7.3GHz,所需驱动功率为6.7W。数值仿真结果表明,采用梯形共面波导调制器阵列设计分辨率适中的高速A/D转换器是可行的。  相似文献

由于行波管的工作依赖于其慢波系统中的电子注与沿轴传输交变电磁场之间的相互作用而完成,而这样的相互作用要求沿轴传输的交变电磁场必须与电子注有着近乎同步的速度,所以慢波系统内的同步问题就成了研究行波管的一个很重要的问题.而变周期慢波系统是将一般慢波系统的周期进行变化而形成的,它可以比原周期慢波系统有着更宽的带宽,更高的互作用效率,还可以选择空间谐波.本文分析了变周期慢波系统内的空间谐波,提出了使慢波系统内的一次空间谐波一直与电子注同步所需要满足的原则,最后以变周期折叠波导为例,证明了这个原则. 关键词: 变周期 慢波系统 空间谐波 同步  相似文献

This Letter introduces the design and simulation of a microstrip-line-based electro-optic(EO) polymer optical phase modulator(PM) that is further enhanced by the addition of photonic crystal(PhC) structures that are in close proximity to the optical core. The slow-wave PhC structure is designed for two different material configurations and placed in the modulator as a superstrate to the optical core; simulation results are depicted for both1 D and 2D PhC structures. The PM characteristics are modeled using a combination of the finite element method and the optical beam propagation method in both the RF and optical domains, respectively.The phase-shift simulation results show a factor of 1.7 increase in an effective EO coefficient(120 pm/V) while maintaining a broadband bandwidth of 40 GHz.  相似文献

利用电导率等效方法对345GHz折叠波导行波管中的电磁信号的传输损耗进行了仿真研究,考察了流通管孔径、加工粗糙度等对冷腔传输损耗的影响。结果表明,流通管孔径较大或加工粗糙度较大都会导致电磁信号传输严重衰减。模拟分析了热腔中电磁信号衰减对慢波结构净增益、带宽、最佳周期数等器件特征参数的影响,结果显示,电磁信号衰减会使得增益下降和带宽降低。  相似文献

The re-entrant double-staggered ladder slow-wave structure is employed in a high-power V-band coupled-cavity traveling-wave tube. This structure has a wide bandwidth, a moderate interaction impedance, and excellent thermal dissipation properties, as well as easy fabrication. A well-matched waveguide coupler is proposed for the structure. Combining the design of attenuators, a full-scale three-dimensional circuit model for the V-band coupled-cavity traveling-wave tube is constructed. The electromagnetic characteristics and the beam-wave interaction of this structure are investigated. The beam current is set to be 100 mA, and the cathode voltage is tuned from 16.8 kV to 15.8 kV. The calculation results show that this tube can produce a saturated average output power over 100 W with an instantaneous bandwidth greater than 1.25 GHz in the frequency ranging from 58 GHz to 62 GHz. The corresponding gain and electronic efficiency can reach over 32 dB and 6.5%, respectively.  相似文献

等离子体流动控制激励器由于其响应速度快、激励频带宽、能量损耗低、可靠性强的优势,在航空航天领域的主动流动控制等方面得到了广泛应用.文章提出了一种新型的等离子体气动激励器——三电极共面介质阻挡放电激励器,研究了该激励器电极结构对放电特性和诱导气流速度的影响,并与传统共面介质阻挡放电和沿面介质阻挡放电激励器进行了比较.结果表明:(1)随着激励电压的提高,高压电极和地电极之间先出现了丝状放电并逐渐延伸到第三电极;(2)随着第三电极与高压电极之间的距离增大,诱导气流速率从2.4 m/s下降到0 m/s,而第三电极宽度的变动对诱导气流速度影响可忽略不计;(3)相同外部条件下,该激励器诱导的气流速度小于沿面介质阻挡放电激励器,但高于共面介质阻挡放电激励器.   相似文献

The linear and nonlinear characteristics of optical slow-wave structures made of direct coupled Fabry–Pérot and Ring Resonators are discussed. The main properties of an infinitely long slow-wave structure are derived analytically with an approach based on the Bloch theory. The spectral behaviour is periodical and closed form expressions for the bandwidth, the group velocity, the dispersion and the linear and nonlinear induced phase shift are derived. For structures of finite length the results still hold providing that proper input/output matching sections are added. In slow-wave structures most of the propagation parameters are enhanced by a factor S called the slowing ratio. In particular nonlinearities result strongly enhanced by the resonant propagation, so that slow-wave structures are likely to become a key point for all-optical processing devices. A numerical simulator has been implemented and several numerical examples of propagation are discussed. It is also shown as soliton propagation is supported by slow-wave structures, demonstrating the flexibility and potentiality of these structures in the field of the all-optical processing.  相似文献

A high-speed submount has been designed and fabricated for 40 Gb/s electroabsorption (EA) modulators. The submount contains a coplanar waveguide (CPW) for microwave signal feeding and a Ta2N thin-film resistor for impedance matching. The CPW transmission line is designed to ensure low microwave loss and reflection, and Ti/Cu/Ni/Au metal is adopted for electrode fabrication to guarantee good contact with the Ta2N thin-film. The typical reflection coefficient of fabricated submount is estimated to be lower than−21 dB up to 40 GHz. As a demonstration, a high-speed EA modulator was chip-level packaged using the high-speed submount, and the measured small-signal modulation bandwidth was over 40 GHz.  相似文献
