The first-principles plane-wave pseudopotential method using the generalized gradient approximation within the framework of density functional theory is applied to anaylse the equilibrium lattice parameters, six independent elastic constants, bulk moduli, thermal expansions and heat capacities of MoSi2. The quasi-harmonic Debye model, using a set of total energy versus cell volume obtained with the plane-wave pseudopotential method, is applied to the study of the elastic properties, thermodynamic properties and vibrational effects. The calculated zero pressure elastic constants are in overall good agreement with the experimental data. The calculated heat capacities and the thermal expansions agree well with the observed values under ambient conditions and those calculated by others. The results show that the temperature has hardly any effect under high pressure.  相似文献

The equilibrium lattice constants, temperature dependence of bulk modulus, the pressure dependence of the normalized volume V/V0, elastic constants Cij and bulk modulus of LaNi5 crystal are obtained using the firstprincipies piane-wave pseudopotential method in the GGA-PBE generalized gradient approximation as well as the quasi-harmonic Debye model. We analyse the relationship between bulk modulus and temperature up to 2000 K and obtain the relationship between bulk modulus B and pressure at diFFerent temperatures. It is found that the bulk modulus B increases monotonously with increasing pressure. Moreover, the pressure dependences of Debye temperatures and the pressure derivatives of lattice constants are also successfully obtained. The calculated results are in agreement with the experimental data and the other theoretical results.  相似文献

The plane-wave pseudopotential method using the generalized gradient approximation within the density functional theory is used to investigate the structure and bulk modulus of WSi2. The quasi-harmonic Debye model, using a set of total energy versus cell volume obtained with the plane-wave pseudopotential method, is applied to the study of the elastic properties and vibrational effects. We have analysed the bulk modulus of WSi2 up to 1600~K. The major trend shows that the WSi2 crystal becomes more compressible when the temperature rises and the increase of compressibility leads to the decrease of Debye temperature. The predicted temperature and pressure effects on the thermal expansion, heat capacity and Debye temperatures are determined from the non-equilibrium Gibbs functions and compared with the data available.  相似文献

Dependence of bulk modulus on both pressure and temperature, the elastic constants Cij and the pressure and temperature dependence of normalized volume V/Vo of cubic Ni2MnGa alloy are successfully obtained using the first-principles plane-wave pseudopotential (PW-PP) method as well as the quasi-harmonic Debye model. We analyse the relationship between bulk modulus and temperature up to 800 K and obtain the relationships between bulk modulus B and pressures at different temperatures. It is found that the bulk modulus B increases monotonically with increasing pressure. Moreover, the temperature dependences of the Debye temperature are also analysed. The calculated results are in agreement with the available experimental data and the previous theoreticM results.  相似文献

The plane-wave pseudopotentiai method using the generaiized gradient approximation within the framework of density functional theory is applied to anaylse the bulk modulus, thermal expansion coefficient and heat capacity of LaB6. The quasi-harmonic Debye model, using a set of total energy versus volume obtained with the plane-wave pseudopotential method, is applied to the study of the thermal properties and vibrationai effects. We analyse the bulk modulus of LaB6 up to 1500 K. The elastic properties calculations show that our system is mechanically stable. For the heat capacity and the thermal expansion, significant differences in properties are observed above 300K. The calculated zero pressure bulk modulus is in good agreement with the experimental data. Moreover, the Debye temperatures are determined from the non-equilibrium Gibbs functions and compared to available data.  相似文献

The compressibility, the temperature dependence of bulk modulus, the pressure dependence of normalized volume V/V0, thermal expansion coefficient and Debye temperature of LaNi5-xAlx compounds are successfully obtained using the first-principles plane-wave pseudopotential (PW-PP) method, the EOSFIT6.0 software and the quasiharmonic Debye model. The rapid decrease of relative lattice constant a/a0 shows that the deformation is easier in directions normal to the c-axis than that along it. The relationships between bulk modulus B and pressure at different temperatures are also analysed. It is found that the bulk modulus B increases monotonically with increasing pressure. Moreover, the pressure dependences of thermal expansion and Debye temperature are also successfully obtained. The calculated results are in agreement with the experimental data.  相似文献

Structural, elastic and electronic properties of tetragonal HfO2 at applied hydrostatic pressure up to 50 GPa have been investigated using the plane-wave ultrasoft pseudopotential technique based on the first-principles density-functional theory (DFT). The calculated ground-state properties are in good agreement with previous theoretical and experimental data. Six independent elastic constants of tetragonal HfO2 have been calculated at zero pressure and high pressure. From the obtained elastic constants, the bulk, shear and Young's modulus, Poisson's coefficients, acoustic velocity and Debye temperature have been calculated at the applied pressure. Band structure shows that tetragonal HfO2 is an indirect band gap. The variation of the gap versus pressure is well fitted to a quadratic function.  相似文献

First-principles calculations of the crystal structure and the elastic properties of RuB2 have been carried out with the plane-wave pseudopotential density functional theory method. The calculated values are in very good agreement with experimental data as well as with some of the existing model calculations. The elastic constants cij, the aggregate elastic moduli (B, G, E), Poisson's ratio, and the elastic anisotropy with pressure have been investigated. Through the quasi-harmonic Debye model considering the phonon effects, the isothermal bulk modulus, the thermal expansions, Grüneisen parameters, and Debye temperatures depending on the temperature and pressure are obtained in the whole pressure range from 0 to 60 GPa and temperature range from 0 to 1100 K as well as compared to available data.

We have investigated the structural and elastic properties of TiN at high pressures by the first-principles plane wave pseudopotential density functional theory method at applied pressures up to 45.4 GPa. The obtained normalized volume dependence of the resulting pressure is in excellent agreement with the experimental data investigated using synchrotron radial x-ray diffraction (RXRD) under nonhydrostatic compression up to 45.4 GPa in a diamond-anvil cell. Three independent elastic constants at zero pressure and high pressure are calculated. From the obtained elastic constants, the bulk modulus, Young's modulus, shear modulus, acoustic velocity and Debye temperature as a function of the applied pressure are also successfully obtained.  相似文献

The structural, elastic and thermodynamic properties of thorium tetraboride (ThB4) have been investigated by using first-principles plane-wave pseudopotential density functional theory with generalized gradient approximation. The behaviors of structural parameters under 0-70 GPa hydrostatic pressure are studied by means of Broyden, Fletcher, Goldfarb, and Shanno (BFGS) geometry optimization scheme. By using the stress-strain method, single crystal elastic constants are calculated to test the mechanical stability of the crystal structure and to determine mechanical properties such as bulk modulus at each pressure. However, in order to study the thermodynamic properties of ThB4, the quasi-harmonic Debye model is used. Then, the dependencies of bulk modulus, heat capacities, thermal expansions, Grüneisen parameters and Debye temperatures on the temperature and pressure are obtained in the whole pressure range 0-70 GPa and temperature range 0-1500 K.  相似文献

The equilibrium lattice constants, bulk modulus, shear modulus, elastic constants and Debye temperature of LaNi4.75 Sn0.25 under pressure are calculated using the full-potential linearized augmented plane wave (FP-LAPW) method as well as the quasi-harmonic Debye model. The results at zero pressure are in excellent agreement with the experimental data. The Sn atom is found to occupy the equivalent 3g site (0.5a, 0.75b, 0.5c) in the quadruple cell. The Debye temperature of LaNi4.75Sn0.25 is lower than that of LaNi5. The dependences of bulk modulus on finite temperature and on finite pressure are also investigated. The results show that the bulk modulus B increases monotonously as pressure increases.  相似文献

A first-principles investigation on the crystal structural and elastic properties and the equation of state of wurtzite-type cadmium selenide (w-CdSe) has been conducted using the plane-wave pseudo-potential density functional theory and the quasi-harmonic Debye model. The elastic constants, the aggregate elastic moduli, the elastic anisotropy, and Poisson's ratio under pressure have been investigated. Our calculated equilibrium lattice constants, the elastic constants, and the aggregate elastic moduli at zero pressure are in good agreement with the experimental data and other theoretical results. The variations in the compressional and shear elastic wave velocities with pressure at zero temperature up to pressure 2.7 GPa have been studied; the computed Debye temperature at zero pressure and zero temperature is in reasonable agreement with the result of Bonello et al., In addition, the equation of state of w-CdSe in the pressure range of 0–2.7 GPa and up to a temperature of 900 K has also been obtained.  相似文献

We have performed ab-initio total energy calculations using the plane-wave ultrasoft pseudopotential technique based on the first-principles density-functional theory (DFT) to study structural, elastic, mechanical, electronic, and optical properties of cubic Mg2TiO4. The calculated lattice parameter a is in good agreement with the experimental values. The independent elastic constants are calculated. The mechanical properties including bulk, shear and Young’s modulus, Poisson’s coefficient, compressibility and Lamé’s constants are obtained using the Voigt-Reuss-Hill method. Debye temperature is estimated using the Debye-Grüneisen model. Band structure, density of states and charge densities are shown and analyzed. In order to clarify the mechanism of optical transitions of cubic Mg2TiO4, the complex dielectric function, refractive index, extinction coefficient, reflectivity, absorption coefficient, loss function and complex conductivity function are calculated.  相似文献

The crystal structural, electronic, elastic and the thermodynamic properties of RCd are investigated by using the first-principles plane-wave pseudopotential density function theory within the generalized gradient approximation (GGA). The calculated equilibrium lattice parameters for RCd are in good agreement with the available experimental data. Furthermore, the optical properties, namely the dielectric function, refractive index and electron energy loss are reported for radiation up to 30 eV. Finally, the elastic properties, the bulk modulus and the Debye temperature of RCd are given for reference.  相似文献

The structural parameters, elastic constants and the electronic density of states of ZrB12 under pressure are determined using first-principles calculations with plane-wave pseudopotential density functional theory, within the generalized gradient approximation. From the elastic constants the elastic parameters and Debye temperature were calculated. They increase as the pressure is increased. The density of states at the Fermi level decreases as pressure is increased, changing from 0.576 to 0.515. Using the Debye temperature and the McMillan equation, the electron–phonon coupling constant was obtained as a function of pressure. It is found that the electron–phonon coupling constant is proportional to the logarithm of the ratio between the value of the Debye temperature and the value of the superconducting critical temperature.  相似文献

The equilibrium lattice parameter, heat capacity, thermal expansion coefficient and bulk modulus of Ni 2 MnGa Heusler alloy are successfully obtained using the first-principles plane-wave pseudopotential (PW-PP) method as well as the quasi-harmonic Debye model. We analyse the relationship between bulk modulus B and temperature T up to 800 K and obtain the relationship between bulk modulus B and pressure at different temperatures. It is found that the bulk modulus B increases monotonically with increasing pressure and decreases with increasing temperature. The pressure dependence of heat capacity C v and thermal expansion α at various temperatures are also analysed. Finally, the Debye temperature of Ni 2 MnGa is determined from the non-equilibrium Gibbs function. Our calculated results are in excellent agreement with the experimental data.  相似文献

The structural, elastic and thermodynamic properties of the α (tetragonal) and β (orthorhombic) polymorphs of the Sr2GeN2 compound have been examined in detail using ab initio density functional theory pseudopotential plane-wave calculations. Apart the structural properties at the ambient conditions, all present reported results are predicted for the first time. The calculated equilibrium lattice parameters and inter-atomic bond-lengths of the considered polymorphs are in good agreement with the available experimental data. It is found that α-Sr2GeN2 is energetically more stable than β-Sr2GeN2. The two examined polymorphs are very similar in their crystal structures and have almost identical local environments. The single-crystal and polycrystalline elastic parameters and related properties – including elastic constants, bulk, shear and Young’s moduli, Poisson’s ratio, anisotropy indexes, Pugh’s criterion, elastic wave velocities and Debye temperature – have been predicted. Temperature and pressure dependence of some macroscopic properties – including the unit-cell volume, bulk modulus, volume thermal expansion coefficient, heat capacity and Debye temperature – have been evaluated using ab initio calculations combined with the quasi-harmonic Debye model.  相似文献

Structural parameters, elastic, mechanical, electronic, chemical bonding, and optical properties of tetragonal HfSiO4 have been investigated using the plane-wave ultrasoft pseudopotential technique based on the first-principles density-functional theory. The ground-state properties obtained by minimizing the total energy are in agreement with the available experimental and theoretical data. This compound is found to be mechanically stable, and we have obtained the bulk, shear, and Young's modulus; Poisson's coefficient; and Lamé's constants. We have estimated the Debye temperature of tetragonal HfSiO4 from the acoustic velocity. Electronic and chemical bonding properties have been studied. Moreover, the complex dielectric function, refractive index, extinction coefficient, absorption coefficient, energy-loss spectrum, optical reflectivity, and complex conductivity function are calculated and analyzed.  相似文献
