The paper proposes an amplitude reduction method for parametric resonance with a new type of dynamic vibration absorber utilizing quadratic nonlinear coupling. A main system with asymmetric nonlinear restoring force and harmonic excitation causes parametric resonance in the system. In contrast with autoparametric vibration absorber, the natural frequency of the vibration absorber is tuned to be in the neighborhood of twice that of the main system. For such a vibration absorber, we investigate the effect on the amplitude reduction for a parametrically excited main system. Analytical results using the method of multiple scales show that the amplitude of parametric resonance is reduced by the effect of the vibration absorber. The experimental results by a simple apparatus indicate that the parametric resonance is stabilized by the effects of both vibration absorber and Coulomb friction of the main system. Moreover, numerical results considering the Coulomb friction of the main system show that the amplitude of parametric resonance becomes close to zero by the proposed vibration absorber.  相似文献

A nonlinear dry friction problem with harmonically varying normal load is formulated, in the context of a two-degree of freedom torsional system, since virtually all of the prior literature focuses on the topic of time-invariant normal load. First, pure stick, pure slip and stick-slip motions are computationally and analytically determined when excited by a sinusoidal torque, in the presence of harmonically varying saturation torque; mean terms are included in both. These analyses yield both transient and steady-state time histories under various conditions. Second, the effects of time-varying normal load on steady-state responses have been investigated and nonlinear spectral maps (including super-harmonics) are developed. Results show that the actuation system parameters could affect steady-state stick-slip motions in different ways over the lower and higher frequency regimes, as a result of time-delay in slip motions with respect to the torque excitation. In particular, the negative slope characteristics in the friction law exaggerate the stick-slip vibration problems, and it is the major cause of bifurcations and quasi-periodic or chaotic motions. Around the super-harmonic peak frequencies, the nonlinear system tends to lose stability as abrupt jumps in the spectral maps take place. An equivalent viscous damping model is considered to analytically investigate the instability mechanism. Further, the periodicity of the system response under harmonically varying actuation is conceptually by employing the harmonic balance method. Finally, steady-state behavior is examined for the nonlinear, time-varying dry friction problem.  相似文献

This paper designs and fabricates a vibration isolation model for improving vibration isolation effectiveness of the vehicle seat under low excitation frequencies. The feature of the proposed system is to use two symmetric negative stiffness structures (NSS) in parallel to a positive stiffness structure. Here, theoretical analysis of the proposed system is clearly presented. Then, the design procedure is derived so that the resonance peak of frequency-response curve drifts to the left, the load support capacity of the system is maintained, the total size of the system is reduced for easy practical application and especially, the bending of the frequency-response curve is minimized. Next the dynamic equation of the proposed system is set up. Then, the harmonic balance (HB) method is employed to seek the characteristic of the motion transmissibility of the proposed system at the steady state for each of the excitation frequency. From this characteristic, the curves of the motion transmission are predicted according to the various values of the configurative parameters of the system. Then, the time responses to the sinusoidal, multi frequency and random excitations are also investigated by simulation and experiment. In addition, the isolation performance comparison between the system with NSS and system without NSS is realized. The simulation results reveal that the proposed system has larger frequency region of isolation than that of the system without NSS. The experimental results confirm also that with a random excitation mainly spreading from 0.1 to 10 Hz, the isolation performance of the system with NSS is greatly improved, where the RMS values of the mass displacement may be reduced to 67.2%, whereas the isolation performance of the system without NSS is bad. Besides, the stability of the steady-state response is also studied. Finally, some conclusions are given.  相似文献

Non-linear acoustic effects are of increasing interest in close-to-application research in which mostly ultrasonic frequencies above 1 MHz are used. If the excitation frequency is reduced, one can use high power excitation performed locally by a piezoceramic stack actuator that provides much higher vibration amplitudes. The combination of this excitation with a scanning laser interferometer provides a system for rapidly imaging non-linearities and thereby selectively detecting defects in most kinds of materials. This contribution presents various experimental results showing the potential of this new technique.  相似文献

In this paper we examine the use of dynamic friction within a bolted structure to improve damping properties of the structure. The structure considered for this paper consists of two steel beam-columns bolted together allowing dynamic friction to occur at the interface. This paper presents an analysis of the behaviour of the structure and the effect of friction on its dynamics. It also presents an analysis of the energy dissipation in the structure by means of friction and the optimization of the bolt tension in order to dissipate the maximum vibration energy. We define analytical expressions for the vibration behaviour before and after slip occurs as well as the condition at which the slip-stick transition occurs. An experiment, in which the measurements of the bolt tension, the slip within the structure and the bending velocity are made, is used to validate the model. The theoretical analysis gave very close agreement with the experimental results and the effective damping of the structure was increased by a factor of approximately 10 through the use of dynamic friction.  相似文献

A dynamic model for a new principle of percussive-rotary drilling is presented. This is a non-linear mechanical system with two degrees of freedom, in which friction-induced vibration is used for excitation of impacts, which influence the parameters of stick-slip motion. The model incorporates the friction force as a function of sliding velocity, which allows for the self-excitation of the coupled vibration of the rotating bit and striker, which tends to a steady state periodic cycle. The dynamic coupling of vibro-impact action with the stick-slip process provides an entirely new adaptive feature in the drilling process. The dynamic behaviour of the system with and without impact is studied numerically. Special attention is given to analysis of the relationship between the sticking and impacting phase of the process in order to achieve an optimal drilling performance. This paper provides an understanding of the mechanics of percussive -rotary drilling and design of new drilling tools with advanced characteristics. Conventional percussive-rotary drilling requires two independent actuators and special control for the synchronization of impact and rotation. In the approach presented, a combined complex interaction of drill bit and striker is synchronized by a single rotating drive.  相似文献

This paper presents an experimental study of the nonlinear dynamic characteristics of taut steel cables using a 3-D motion analysis system. In the experiment, the taut cables have one end fixed and the other end subject to harmonic vertical excitation. The 3-D motion analysis system can simultaneously record (with high resolution) the instant 3-D coordinates of the multiple markers fixed on a vibrating cable; this distinguishes it from other experimental systems used in vibration studies, in which the vibration of only one single point can be recorded during each individual testing. With the 3-D motion analysis system, this experimental study presents a distinctive interpretation of the dynamic characteristics of taut cables in spatial domain (based on the mode-shape information of the entire cable), in addition to one in time domain (based on real-time traces of one single point). This paper introduces the 3-D motion analysis system and experimental setup, discusses practical experimental procedures, and presents a detailed analysis of three sets of experimental vibration data of three taut steel cables with different small sags. The frequency response curves were obtained for three cables. For one of the three taut cables, more informative vibration data were recorded; this cable was studied in greater detail via modal analysis using a modal decomposition technique and nonlinear time-series analysis.  相似文献

The presented research work, aimed at deeper understanding of vibrational process during high-frequency vibration cutting, is accomplished by treating cutting tool as an elastic structure which is characterized by several modes of natural vibrations. An approach for surface quality improvement is proposed in this paper by taking into account that quality of machined surface is related to the intensity of tool-tip (cutting edge) vibrations. It is based on the excitation of a particular higher vibration mode of a turning tool, which leads to the reduction of deleterious vibrations in the machine-tool-workpiece system through intensification of internal energy dissipation in the tool material. The combined application of numerical analysis with accurate finite element model as well as different experimental methods during investigation of the vibration turning process allowed to determine that the most favorable is the second flexural vibration mode of the tool in the direction of vertical cutting force component. This mode is excited by means of piezoelectric transducer vibrating in axial tool direction at the corresponding natural frequency, thereby enabling minimization of surface roughness and tool wear.  相似文献

In this paper it has been described part of the research devoted to the development of a complete non-intrusive experimental modal analysis procedure based on laser techniques both for excitation and for measurement. In particular, attention has been focused on the thermal effects generated by laser pulses on the excited structure. An analytical model of the energy exchange between the light pulse and the target surface is proposed together with a finite element model of thermal and mechanical behaviour of the structure under excitation. Both the models (analytical and numerical) have been experimentally validated by measuring the thermal and the vibration responses induced by the laser pulses. The experimental part of the study has been performed on a cantilever beam excited with laser pulses from an Nd : YAG source (532 nm, 100 mJ/pulse) using an high-speed infrared camera and a scanning laser Doppler vibrometer. Results from this work can be used to improve understanding concerning the features of laser excitation and to establish a mechanical equivalent system of forces and moments, useful in order to increase the accuracy in the measurements of modal parameters when laser pulses are used as excitation sources.  相似文献
