We have investigated the ionization of the H atom by intense few-cycle laser pulses, in particular the intra-pulse interference effects, and their dependence on the carrier-envelope phase (CEP) of the laser pulse. In the final momentum distribution of the continuum electrons the imprint of two types of intra-pulse interference effects can be observed, namely the temporal and spatial interference. During the spatial interference electronic wave packets emitted at the same time, but following different paths interfere leading to an interference pattern measurable in the electron spectra. This can be also interpreted as the interference between a direct and a scattered wave, and the spatial interference pattern as the holographic mapping (HM) of the target. This HM pattern is strongly influenced by the carrier-envelope phase through the shape of the laser pulse. Here, we have studied how the shape of the HM pattern is modified by the CEP, and we have found an optimal CEP for the observation of HM.  相似文献

A bandwidth-independent and linear interferometric method for the measurement of the carrier-envelope phase drift of ultrashort pulse trains is demonstrated. The pulses are temporally overlapped in a resonant multiple-beam interferometer. From the position of the spectral interference pattern, the relative carrier-envelope phase between two subsequent oscillator pulses is obtained at data acquisition rates up to 200 Hz. Cross calibration has been performed by f-to-2f interferometry in two independent experiments. The optical length of the interferometer has been actively stabilized, leading to a phase jitter of 117 mrad (rms). These results indicate a reduced noise and quicker data acquisition in comparison with previous linear methods for measuring the carrier-envelope phase drift.  相似文献

We demonstrate carrier-envelope phase stabilization of a mode-locked Ti:sapphire laser by use of quantum interference control of injected photocurrents in a semiconductor. No harmonic generation is required for this stabilization technique. Instead, interference between coexisting single- and two-photon absorption pathways in the semiconductor provides a phase comparison between different spectral components. The phase comparison, and the detection of the photocurrent that it produces, both occur within a single low-temperature-grown gallium arsenide sample. The carrier-envelope offset beat note fidelity is 30 dB in a 10-kHz resolution bandwidth. The out-of-loop phase-noise level is essentially identical to the best previous measurements with the standard self-referencing technique.  相似文献

We stabilized the carrier-envelope phase of pulses emitted by a femtosecond regenerative amplifier through difference frequency generation between pump and seeded amplification of colored conical emission. Seeded amplification of colored conical emission was induced by modulational instability in the second harmonic generation with a supercontinuum injected and amplified. As a consequence, it inherited the origin phase of the pump pulse. After difference frequency with the pump pulses, the generated tunable idler pulses were carrier-envelope phase stabilized, which was verified with a simple and robust spectral interference setup. Coherent extreme-ultraviolet (XUV) radiation is studied by interaction of carrier-envelope (CE) phase stabilized high energy 5-fs infrared (800 nm) laser pulses with neon gas at a repetition rate of 1 kHz. A broadband continuum XUV spectrum in the cut-off region is demonstrated when the CE phase is shifted to about zero, rather than modulated spectral harmonics when setting of CE phase is nonzero. The results show the generation of isolated attosecond XUV pulses.  相似文献

We obtain direct stabilization of the carrier-envelope phase for a standard x-folded geometry, octave-spanning, Ti:sapphire laser. The in-loop accumulated carrier-envelope phase error is 0.175 rad (1.65 mHz to 102 kHz). Intracavity continuum generation, which is responsible for the octave bandwidth, is characterized through measurement of the beam parameters.  相似文献

We demonstrate a scheme for parametric amplification that allows us to measure the drift of the carrier-envelope phase of the output signal pulses. The method is based on the unique double phase-matching properties of a noncollinearly pumped BBO crystal, making possible the detection of the interference between the signal and the frequency-doubled idler. Additionally, the suggested device greatly simplifies the single-shot measurement of the phase evolution in Ti:sapphire laser amplifiers by dispensing with harmonic synthesis from the spectral edges of an octave-wide supercontinuum.  相似文献

We present measurements of the nonlinear phase noise that is due to amplitude-to-phase conversion in air-silica microstructure fiber that is utilized to broaden the frequency comb from a mode-locked femtosecond laser to an optical octave. When the octave of the continuum is employed to phase stabilize the laser-pulse train, this phase noise causes a change in the carrier-envelope phase of 3784-rad/nJ change in pulse energy. As a result, the jitter on the carrier-envelope phase that is due to fiber noise, from 0.03 Hz-55 kHz, is ~0.5rad .  相似文献

We demonstrate a direct and versatile scheme to determine the carrier-envelope phase fluctuations of tunable ultrashort optical pulses. The spatial interferogram between the high frequency components and the parametrically amplified and frequency doubled low frequency components of an octave broad white light continuum is measured for every single pulse. It directly reveals the carrier-envelope phase fluctuations of the pump pulses from the regenerative amplifier, as well as of the white light and the tunable pulses generated from it. The Keldysh theory of above-threshold ionization (ATI) is applied to few-cycle laser pulses in order to explore the potential of a recently published new method to measure "carrier-envelope phase difference" phenomena. In this experiment, the carrier-envelope phase difference dependent left-right asymmetry of few-cycle ATI was measured and investigated with a correlation technique. Here, we explore spectral features of the asymmetry, present a theoretical analysis of the experiment, and establish a method to determine the duration of few-cycle pulses whose carrier-envelope phase differences are not controlled.  相似文献
