BaTiO3 thin films with different thickness have been grown on Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si substrates by a modified sol-gel method. X-ray diffraction analyses show that the BaTiO3 thin films are polycrystalline. The crystalline quality of the films is improved with increasing thickness. The infrared optical properties of the BaTiO3 thin films have been investigated using an infrared spectroscopic ellipsometry in the wave number range of 800-4000 cm−1 (2.5-12.5 μm). By fitting the measured pseudodielectric functions with a three-phase model (Air/BaTiO3/Pt), and a derived classical dispersion relation for the thin films, the optical constants and thicknesses of the thin films have been simultaneously obtained. The refractive index of the BaTiO3 thin films increases and on the other hand, the extinction coefficient does not change with increasing thickness in the entirely measured wave number range. The dependence of the refractive index on the film thickness has been discussed in detail and was mainly due to both the crystalline quality of the films and packing density. Finally, the absorption coefficient was calculated in the infrared region for applications in the pyroelectric IR detectors.  相似文献

We have prepared SrTiO3/BaTiO3 thin films with multilayered structures deposited on indium tin oxide (ITO) coated glass by a sol-gel deposition and heating at 300-650 °C. The optical properties were obtained by UV-vis spectroscopy. The films show a high transmittance (approximately 85%) in the visible region. The optical band gap of the films is tunable in the 3.64-4.19 eV range by varying the annealing temperature. An abrupt decrease towards the bulk band gap value is observed at annealing temperatures above 600 °C. The multilayered film annealed at 650 ° C exhibited the maximum refractive index of 2.09-1.91 in the 450-750 nm wavelength range. The XRD and AFM results indicate that the films annealed above 600 ° C are substantially more crystalline than the films prepared at lower temperatures which were used to change their optical band gap and complex refractive index to an extent that depended on the annealing temperature.  相似文献

The optical properties of polycrystalline lead iodide thin film grown on Corning glass substrate have been investigated by spectroscopic ellipsometry. A structural model is proposed to account for the optical constants of the film and its thickness. The optical properties of the PbI2 layer were modeled using a modified Cauchy dispersion formula. The optical band gap Eg has been calculated based on the absorption coefficient (α) data above the band edge and from the incident photon energy at the maximum index of refraction. The band gap was also measured directly from the plot of the first derivative of the experimental transmission data with respect to the light wavelength around the transition band edge. The band gap was found to be in the range of 2.385±0.010 eV which agrees with the reported experimental values. Urbach's energy tail was observed in the absorption trend below the band edge and was found to be related to Urbach's energy of 0.08 eV.  相似文献

Amorphous and nanocrystalline germanium thin films were prepared on glass substrates by physical vapor deposition (PVD). The influence of thermal annealing on the characteristics of the Ge thin films has been investigated. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and SEM show amorphous structure of films deposited at room temperature. After thermal annealing, the crystallinity was improved when the annealing temperature increases. The Ge thin films annealed at different temperatures in air were nanocrystalline, having the face-centered cubic structure with preferred orientation along the 〈1 1 1〉 direction. The nanostructural parameters have been evaluated by using a single-order Voigt profile analysis. Moreover, the analysis of the optical transmission and reflection behavior was carried out. The values of direct and indirect band gap energies for amorphous and nanocrystalline phases are 0.86±0.02, 0.65±0.02 and 0.79±0.02, 0.61±0.02 eV, respectively. In addition, the complex optical functions for the wavelength range 600-2200 nm are reported. The refractive index of the nanocrystalline phase drops from 4.80±0.03 to 2.04±0.02, and amorphous phase changes from 5.18±0.03 to 2.42±0.02 for the whole wavelength range. The dielectric functions ε1 and ε2 of the deposited films were recorded as a function of wavelength within the range from 600 to 2200 nm.  相似文献

Transmission and reflection measurements in the wavelength region 450-1100 nm were carried out on Tl4In3GaS8-layered single crystals. The analysis of the room temperature absorption data revealed the presence of both optical indirect and direct transitions with band gap energies of 2.32 and 2.52 eV, respectively. The rate of change of the indirect band gap with temperature dEgi/dT=-6.0×10−4 eV/K was determined from transmission measurements in the temperature range of 10-300 K. The absolute zero value of the band gap energy was obtained as Egi(0)=2.44 eV. The dispersion of the refractive index is discussed in terms of the Wemple-DiDomenico single-effective-oscillator model. The refractive index dispersion parameters: oscillator energy, dispersion energy, oscillator strength and zero-frequency refractive index were found to be 4.87 eV, 26.77 eV, 8.48×1013 m−2 and 2.55, respectively.  相似文献

SrTiO3 thin films were prepared on a fused-quartz substrate by pulsed laser deposition (PLD). Dense and homogeneous films with a thickness of 260 nm were prepared. Optical constants (refractive index n and extinction coefficient k) were determined from the transmittance spectra using the envelope method. The optical band gap energy of the films was found to be 3.58 eV, higher than the 3.22 eV for bulk SrTiO3, attributable to the film stress exerted by the substrate. The dispersion relation of the refractive index vs. wavelength follows the single electronic oscillator model. The refractive index and the packing density for the PLD-prepared SrTiO3 thin films are higher than those for the SrTiO3 films prepared by physical vapor deposition, sol–gel and RF sputtering. Ferroelectric Bi3.25Nd0.75Ti3O12 (BNT) thin films were grown on (111)Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si substrates by a chemical solution method. The films were composed of large rod-like grains. XRD and Raman spectroscopy measurements showed they were polycrystalline perovskite structure with a good crystallinity. Pt/BNT/Pt capacitors had been fabricated and showed good ferroelectricity. The optical constants (n, k) of BNT thin films in the wavelength ranges of 0.2–1.7 μm and 2.5–11.4 μm were obtained by spectroscopic ellipsometry measurements. The dispersion of the refractive index in the interband transition region followed the single electronic oscillator model. The optical band gap was found to be about 3.61 eV. In this study, effect of indium incorporation on the optical properties is investigated for the spray pyrolyzed onto glass substrates at 275°C substrate temperature undoped and indium doped Cd0.22Zn0.78S thin films. The average optical transmittance of all the films was over 77% in the wavelength range between 450 and 800 nm. The optical band gap energies of the thin films have been investigated by the measurement of the optical absorbance as a function of wavelength. The optical absorption studies reveal that the transitions are direct band gaps of 3.02 and 3.05 eV for undoped and doped indium Cd0.22Zn0.78S thin films, respectively. The Urbach tail parameter and optical constants such as refractive index, extinction coefficient, and dielectric constants were calculated for these films. The dispersion parameters such as single-oscillator energy and dispersive energy were discussed in terms oft he single-oscillator Wemple—DiDomenico model.  相似文献

We investigated the optical properties of compositionally graded Zn1?xMgxO (g-ZnMgO) films using spectroscopic ellipsometry. The g-ZnMgO and ZnO films were grown on Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si substrates by ultrasonic spray pyrolysis. We simulated a uniformly graded optical band gap layer on the Pt substrate to reproduce the experimental result. The band gap of the bottommost layer of the g-ZnMgO film was estimated to be ~3.22 eV, the same as the undoped ZnO film. Then we considered a linearly increasing band gap with the film composition, and obtained a band gap of ~3.56 eV for the topmost layer of the film. In addition, the exciton peak showed a strong increase for the topmost layer of the film suggesting an important role of doping.  相似文献

The optical properties of Tl2In2Se3S layered single crystals have been analyzed using transmission and reflection measurements in the wavelength region between 500 and 1100 nm. The optical indirect transitions with a band gap energy of 1.96 eV and direct transitions with a band gap energy of 2.16 eV were determined from analysis of absorption data at room temperature. Dispersion of the refractive index is discussed in terms of the Wemple–DiDomenico single-effective-oscillator model. The refractive index dispersion parameters – oscillator energy, dispersion energy, oscillator strength and zero-frequency refractive index – were found to be 4.67 eV, 45.35 eV, 1.38 × 1014 m ? 2 and 3.27, respectively. Transmission measurements were also performed in the temperature range 10–300 K. As a result of temperature-dependent transmission measurements, the rate of change in the indirect band gap with temperature, i.e. γ = ?5.6 × 10?4 eV/K, and the absolute zero value of the band gap energy, E gi(0) = 2.09 eV, were obtained.  相似文献

Ternary thin films of cerium titanium zirconium mixed oxide were prepared by the sol-gel process and deposited by a spin coating technique at different spin speeds (1000-4000 rpm). Ceric ammonium nitrate, Ce(NO3)6(NH4)2, titanium butoxide, Ti[O(CH2)3CH3]4, and zirconium propoxide, Zr(OCH2CH2CH3)4, were used as starting materials. Differential calorimetric analysis (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) were carried out on the CeO2-TiO2-ZrO2 gel to study the decomposition and phase transition of the gel. For molecular, structural, elemental, and morphological characterization of the films, Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectral analysis, X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), cross-sectional scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and atomic force microscopy (AFM) were carried out. All the ternary oxide thin films were amorphous. The optical constants (refractive index, extinction coefficient, band gap) and thickness of the films were determined in the 350-1000 nm wavelength range by using an nkd spectrophotometer. The refractive index, extinction coefficient, and thickness of the films were changed by varying the spin speed. The oscillator and dispersion energies were obtained using the Wemple-DiDomenico dispersion relationship. The optical band gap is independent of the spin speed and has a value of about Eg≈2.82±0.04 eV for indirect transition.  相似文献

Cr doped CdO thin films were deposited on glass substrates by reactive DC magnetron sputtering with varying film thickness from 250 to 400 nm. XRD studies reveal that the films exhibit cubic structure with preferred orientation along the (2 0 0) plane. The optical transmittance of the films decreases from 92 to 72%, whereas the optical energy band gap of the films decreased from 2.88 to 2.78 eV with increasing film thickness. The Wemple–DiDomenico single oscillator model has been used to evaluate the optical dispersion parameters such as dispersion energy (Ed), oscillator energy (Eo), static refractive index (no) and high frequency dielectric constant (ε). The nonlinear optical parameters such as optical susceptibility (χ(1)), third order nonlinear optical susceptibility (χ(3)) and nonlinear refractive index (n2) of the films were also determined.  相似文献

Zinc oxide thin films were sputter deposited on (100) silicon substrates at 250 C substrates temperature via reactive unbalanced dc magnetron process using pure zinc target and argon/oxygen gases. The influence of the applied dc sputtering power (between 100 to 250 Watts, step 50 Watts) on the optical properties of the grown films was systematically investigated by variable angle of incidence spectroscopic ellipsometry (VASE) technique. The refractive indices were found to follow the second-order Sellmeier dispersion relation. However, Cauchy-like dispersion model was formulated to account for the absorption tail and excitonic structure near the direct band gap. The optical properties such as refractive indices, extinction coefficients, optical band gaps, Urbach's energies, excitonic binding structure and absorption coefficients of the grown films were reported as a function of dc power in the photon energy range between 1.2 eV and 4.2 eV. The films were found to be polycrystalline with (002) preferred orientation.  相似文献

BaTiO3 thin films were deposited on Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si by rf planar-magnetron sputtering. The films thickness increases with the decrease of both deposition pressure and sample-discharge centre distance. The films annealed at 900 °C, for 8 h, present direct band gap energy ranged between 3.57 and 3.59 eV. The dependence of the structure and microstructure (texture, degree of crystallinity), as well as of the optical characteristics on the deposition parameters, was analysed. Using spectroscopic ellipsometry (SE) measurements coupled with the Bruggeman Effective Medium Approximation (B-EMA), the layer structure and the surface roughness, were determined. The root mean square roughness values of the surface layer, estimated by atomic force microscopy (AFM) analyses, are ranged between 10 and 20 nm and were in good agreement with SE data. The obtained films have tetragonal unit cell and show densely packed, non-columnar morphology and hexagon-like crystallite shape.  相似文献

Thin films of InSe were prepared by thermal evaporation technique. The as-deposited films have nano-scale crystalline nature and the annealing enhanced the degree of crystallinity. The optical properties of nanocrystalline thin films of InSe were studied using spectrophotometric measurements of transmittance, T, and reflectance, R, at normal incidence of light in the wavelength range 200–2500 nm. The optical constants (refractive index, n, and absorption index, k) were calculated using a computer program based on Murmann's exact equations. The calculated optical constants are independent of the film thickness. The optical dispersion parameters have been analysed by single oscillator model. The type of transition in InSe films is indirect allowed with a value of energy gap equals to 1.10 eV, which increased to 1.23 eV upon annealing.  相似文献

The optical properties of the Bridgman method grown Ga4Se3S crystals have been investigated by means of room temperature, transmittance and reflectance spectral analysis. The optical data have revealed an indirect allowed transition band gap of 2.08 eV. The room temperature refractive index, which was calculated from the reflectance and transmittance data, allowed the identification of the dispersion and oscillator energies, static dielectric constant and static refractive index as 21.08 and 3.85 eV, 6.48 and 2.55, respectively.  相似文献

Thin films of tungsten oxynitrides were deposited on substrates preheated at 300 °C from metallic tungsten target using reactive pulsed d.c. magnetron sputtering. The deposition was carried out at different nitrogen to total reactive gas partial pressures ratios. The energy dispersive analysis of X-ray showed that significant incorporation of nitrogen occurred only when the nitrogen partial pressure exceeded 74% of the total reactive gas pressure. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that the formation of a specific crystalline phase is affected by the composition and the possibility of competitive growth of different phases. The increase of nitrogen content into the films increases the optical absorption and decreases the optical band gap. The refractive index was determined from the transmittance spectra using Swanepoel's method. It was found that the refractive index increases with increasing nitrogen content over the entire spectral range. The values of the tungsten effective coordination number, Nc, was estimated from the analysis of the dispersion of the refractive index, and an increase in Nc with increasing nitrogen content was observed.  相似文献

A chemical spray pyrolysis technique for deposition of p-type Mg-doped CuCrO2 transparent oxide semiconductor thin films using metaloorganic precursors is described. As-deposited films contain mixed spinel CuCr2O4 and delafossite CuCrO2 structural phases. Reduction in spinel CuCr2O4 fraction and formation of highly crystalline films with single phase delafossite CuCrO2 structure is realized by annealing at temperatures ?700 °C in argon. A mechanism of synthesis of CuCrO2 films involving precursor decomposition, oxidation and reaction between constituent oxides in the spray deposition process is presented. Post-annealed CuCr0.93Mg0.07O2 thin films show high (?80%) visible transmittance and sharp absorption at band gap energy with direct and indirect optical band gaps 3.11 and 2.58 eV, respectively. Lower (∼450 °C) substrate temperature formed films are amorphous and yield lower direct (2.96 eV) and indirect (2.23 eV) band gaps after crystallization. Electrical conductivity of CuCr0.93 Mg0.07O2 thin films ranged 0.6-1 S cm−1 and hole concentration ∼2×1019 cm−3 determined from Seebeck analysis. Temperature dependence of conductivity exhibit activation energies ∼0.11 eV in 300-470 K and ∼0.23 eV in ?470 K region ascribed to activated conduction and grain boundary trap assisted conduction, respectively. Heterojunction diodes of the structure Au/n-(ZnO)/p-(CuCr0.93Mg0.07O2)/SnO2 (TCO) were fabricated which show potential for transparent wide band gap junction device.  相似文献

Thin films of In-doped Ge-S in the form of Ge35In8S57 with different film thickness were deposited using an evaporation method. The X-ray diffraction studies demonstrate that the as-prepared films are amorphous in nature for these films. Some optical constants were calculated at a thickness of 150, 300, 450 and 900?nm and annealing temperature of 373, 413, 437 and 513?K. Our optical observations show that the mechanism of the optical transition obeys the indirect transition. It was found that the energy gap, Eg, decreases from 2.44 to 2.20?eV with expanding the thickness of the film from 150 to 900?nm. On the other hand, it was found that Eg increases with annealing temperature from 373 to 513?K. The increment in the band gap can be attributed to the gradual annealing out of the unsaturated bonds delivering a decreasing the density of localized states in the band structure. Using the single oscillator model, the dispersion of the refractive index is described. The dispersion constants of these films were calculated with different both thickness and annealing temperatures. Additionally, both of nonlinear susceptibility, χ(3) and nonlinear refractive index, n2 were calculated.  相似文献

Transparent conductive ZnO film was deposited on glass substrate by pulsed filtered cathodic vacuum arc deposition (PFCVAD). Optical parameters such as absorption coefficient α, the refractive index n, energy band gap Eg and dielectric constants have been determined using different methods. Kramers-Kronig and dispersion relations were employed to determine the complex refractive index and dielectric constants using reflection data in the ultraviolet-visible-near infrared regions. The spectra of the dielectric coefficient were used to calculate the energy band gap and the value was 3.24 eV. The experimental energy band gap was found to be 3.22 eV for 357 nm thick ZnO thin film. The envelope method was also used to calculate the refractive index and the data were consistent with K-K relation results. The structure of the film was analyzed with an x-ray diffractometer and the film was polycrystalline in nature with preferred (002) orientation.  相似文献
