The spin force operator on a non-relativistic Dirac oscillator (in the non-relativistic limit the Dirac oscillator is a spin one-half 3D harmonic oscillator with strong spin–orbit interaction) is derived using the Heisenberg equations of motion and is seen to be formally similar to the force by the electromagnetic field on a moving charged particle. When confined to a sphere of radius R, it is shown that the Hamiltonian of this non-relativistic oscillator can be expressed as a mere kinetic energy operator with an anomalous part. As a result, the power by the spin force and torque operators in this case are seen to vanish. The spin force operator on the sphere is calculated explicitly and its torque is shown to be equal to the rate of change of the kinetic orbital angular momentum operator, again with an anomalous part. This, along with the conservation of the total angular momentum, suggests that the spin force exerts a spin-dependent torque on the kinetic orbital angular momentum operator in order to conserve total angular momentum. The presence of an anomalous spin part in the kinetic orbital angular momentum operator gives rise to an oscillatory behavior similar to the Zitterbewegung. It is suggested that the underlying physics that gives rise to the spin force and the Zitterbewegung is one and the same in NRDO and in systems that manifest spin Hall effect.  相似文献

Based on the Keldysh formalism, we derive an effective Boltzmann equation for a quasiparticle constrained within a particular Fermi surface in an interacting Fermi liquid. This provides a many-body derivation of Berry curvatures in electron dynamics with spin-orbit coupling, which has received much attention in recent years in noninteracting models. As is well known, the Berry curvature in momentum space modifies na?ve band dynamics via an "artificial magnetic field" in momentum space. Our Fermi liquid formulation completes the reinvention of modified band dynamics by introducing in addition an artificial electric field, related to Berry curvature in frequency and momentum space. We show explicitly how the artificial electric field affects the renormalization factor and transverse conductivity of interacting U(1) Fermi liquids with nondegenerate bands.  相似文献

We consider the adiabatic evolution of the Dirac equation in order to compute its Berry curvature in momentum space. It is found that the position operator acquires an anomalous contribution due to the non-Abelian Berry gauge connection making the quantum mechanical algebra noncommutative. A generalization to any known spinning particles is possible by using the Bargmann–Wigner equation of motions. The noncommutativity of the coordinates is responsible for the topological spin transport of spinning particles similarly to the spin Hall effect in spintronic physics or the Magnus effect in optics. As an application we predict new dynamics for nonrelativistic particles in an electric field and for photons in a gravitational field.  相似文献

We consider semiclassical higher-order wave packet solutions of the Schr?dinger equation with phase vortices. The vortex line is aligned with the propagation direction, and the wave packet carries a well-defined orbital angular momentum (OAM) variant Planck's over 2pil (l is the vortex strength) along its main linear momentum. The probability current coils around the momentum in such OAM states of electrons. In an electric field, these states evolve like massless particles with spin l. The magnetic-monopole Berry curvature appears in momentum space, which results in a spin-orbit-type interaction and a Berry/Magnus transverse force acting on the wave packet. This brings about the OAM Hall effect. In a magnetic field, there is a Zeeman interaction, which, can lead to more complicated dynamics.  相似文献

We have presented here the consequences of the non-uniform exchange field on the spin transport issues in spin chiral configuration of ferromagnetic graphene. Taking resort to the spin–orbit coupling (SOC) term and non-uniform exchange coupling term we are successful to express the expression of Hall conductivity in terms of the exchange field and SOC parameters through the Kubo formula approach. However, for a specific configuration of the exchange parameter we have evaluated the Berry curvature of the system. We also have paid attention to the study of SU(2) gauge theory of ferromagnetic graphene. The generation of anti damping spin–orbit torque in spin chiral magnetic graphene is also briefly discussed.  相似文献

We theoretically show that the magnon wave packet has a rotational motion in two ways: a self-rotation and a motion along the boundary of the sample (edge current). They are similar to the cyclotron motion of electrons, but unlike electrons the magnons have no charge and the rotation is not due to the Lorentz force. These rotational motions are caused by the Berry phase in momentum space from the magnon band structure. Furthermore, the rotational motion of the magnon gives an additional correction term to the magnon Hall effect. We also discuss the Berry curvature effect in the classical limit of long-wavelength magnetostatic spin waves having macroscopic coherence length.  相似文献

Spin–orbit coupling of electrons with the crystal lattice plays a crucial role in materials without inversion symmetry, lifting spin degeneracy of the Bloch states and endowing the resulting nondegenerate bands with complex spin textures and topologically nontrivial wavefunctions. We present a detailed symmetry-based analysis of the spin–orbit coupling and the band degeneracies in noncentrosymmetric metals. We systematically derive the semiclassical equations of motion for fermionic quasiparticles near the Fermi surface, taking into account both the spin–orbit coupling and the Zeeman interaction with an applied magnetic field. Some of the lowest-order quantum corrections to the equations of motions can be expressed in terms of a fictitious “magnetic field” in the momentum space, which is related to the Berry curvature of the band wavefunctions. The band degeneracy points or lines serve as sources of a topologically nontrivial Berry curvature. We discuss the observable effects of the wavefunction topology, focusing, in particular, on the modifications to the Lifshitz–Onsager semiclassical quantization condition and the de Haas-van Alphen effect in noncentrosymmetric metals.  相似文献

Two different gauge potential methods are engaged to calculate explicitly the spin Hall conductivity in graphene. The graphene Hamiltonian with spin-orbit interaction is expressed in terms of kinematic momenta by introducing a gauge potential. A formulation of the spin Hall conductivity is established by requiring that the time evolution of this kinematic momentum vector vanishes. We then calculated the conductivity employing the Berry gauge fields. We show that both of the gauge fields can be deduced from the pure gauge field arising from the Foldy-Wouthuysen transformations.  相似文献

We report a study of the momentum, angular momentum, and helicity of circularly polarized Airy beams propagating in free space. By using the vector angular spectrum representation, the explicit analytical expressions for the electric and magnetic field components of circularly polarized Airy beams are derived in detail. To overcome the drawbacks of classical kinematics formulae when applied to structured light beams, a general canonical approach is introduced to describe the momentum, angular momentum and helicity of Airy beams. Numerical simulation results for the spatial distributions of the canonical momentum, spin and orbital angular momentum, as well as the helicity densities are presented and discussed. This study may provide useful insights into the dynamical properties of Airy beams that may be important in several applications, including the optical control, micromanipulation, and information processing.  相似文献

Spin filter tunneling is considered in the low bias limit as functions of the temperature dependent barrier parameters. We demonstrate the generation of spin polarized tunneling currents in relation to the magnetic order parameter, and discuss how an interfacially suppressed order parameter leads to a temperature dependent tunneling current asymmetry. Analyzing the full parameter space reveals that the often overlooked barrier thickness plays a critical role in spin filter tunneling. With all else fixed, thicker barriers yield higher spin polarization, and allow a given polarization to be achieved at higher temperatures. This insight may open the door for new materials to serve as spin filter barriers.  相似文献

We describe an intrinsic spin-Hall effect (SHE) in n-type bulk zinc-blende semiconductors with a topological origin. When a collimated flux of electrons is injected into a zinc-blende semiconductor with Dresselhaus spin–orbit interaction, a nontrivial gauge structure appears in the momentum space of the electrons. The Berry curvature of this gauge field and the corresponding Lorentz force in -space results in a finite SHE. The value of the spin-Hall current is found to be highly dependent on the degree of electron collimation, which may be varied by means of gate electrodes. Therefore, the system may potentially be useful as an electronically controllable source of pure spin-current for spintronic applications.  相似文献

We study the geometric curvature and phase of the Rabi model. Under the rotating-wave approximation (RWA), we apply the gauge independent Berry curvature over a surface integral to calculate the Berry phase of the eigenstates for both single and two-qubit systems, which is found to be identical with the system of spin-1/2 particle in a magnetic field. We extend the idea to define a vacuum-induced geometric curvature when the system starts from an initial state with pure vacuum bosonic field. The induced geometric phase is related to the average photon number in a period which is possible to measure in the qubit–cavity system. We also calculate the geometric phase beyond the RWA and find an anomalous sudden change, which implies the breakdown of the adiabatic theorem and the Berry phases in an adiabatic cyclic evolution are ill-defined near the anti-crossing point in the spectrum.  相似文献

Energy spectrum and degeneracy associated with bound states of monopoles and dyons in non-Abelian gauge theory has been investigated and it is shown that energy levels expand due to the presence of additional degeneracies. Splitting of energy level of dyonium in presence of external magnetic and electric field has also been analyzed confirming the presence of additional degeneracy levels of the system. In addition, the study of behaviour of a fermion moving in the field of non-Abelian dyon in moduli space under SU(2) gauge potential has been undertaken and energy eigen values for the system are carried out. Detailed analysis of relativistic correction in fermion-dyon system in moduli space is presented and angular momentum operators of the system are derived, which demonstrates that besides the contribution of Higgs field, the interaction of spin and orbital angular momentum of moving fermion also contributes to the energy operator.  相似文献

The influence of Rashba and Dresselhaus spin–orbit interactions on the electronic properties of quasi one-dimensional systems like InAs quantum wires is discussed in the presence of in-plane magnetic fields. One shows that equal coupling strength conditions are provided specifically by the commutativity of two-dimensional constituents of velocity and current operators. The interesting point is that equal strength spin–orbit couplings one deals with proceed in conjunction with related spin conservations, which amounts to account for selected orientations of the magnetic field. Accordingly, the in-plane magnetic fields should be directed solely along the bisectrices. Other angles may be conceivable, but in this case spin conservations alluded to above are lost. Such results open the way to a consistent derivation of the equal coupling strength limit of the energy, which leads in turn to the derivation of novel spin-precession effects. A related effective gyromagnetic factor has also been established.  相似文献

We show that a quantized Berry phase in Bloch momentum space can serve as a topological order parameter to the quantum phases of a gapped spin chain system with time-reversal invariance. Specifically, we study this approach analytically in a class of XY spin-1/2 chain with multiple sites interactions in a transverse field. In order to derive a proper definition of the Berry curvature in a two-dimensional parameter space, we performed a local gauge transformation to the spin chain system by a twist operator, which endows the Hamiltonian of the system with the topology of a torus T2T2 without changing its energy spectrum. We show that a topological Z2Z2 order parameter can be obtained as a quantized Berry phase by a loop integral of the Berry gauge potential along quarter of the Brillouin zone, which determines the zero-temperature phase diagram of the system.  相似文献

We report temperature and magnetic field dependent magnetization and quantification of entanglement from the experimental data for dichloro (thiazole) copper (II), a Heisenberg spin chain system. The plot of magnetic susceptibility vs. temperature indicates an infinite spin chain. Isothermal magnetization measurements (as functions of magnetic field) were performed at various temperatures below the antiferromagnetic (AFM) ordering, where the AFM correlations persist significantly. These magnetization curves are fitted to the Bonner–Fisher model. Magnetic susceptibility is used as an entanglement witness to quantify the amount of entanglement in the system.  相似文献

In the present work we investigate the behavior of all three components of persistent spin current in a quasi-periodic Fibonacci ring subjected to Rashba and Dresselhaus spin–orbit interactions. Analogous to persistent charge current in a conducting ring where electrons gain a Berry phase in presence of magnetic flux, spin Berry phase is associated during the motion of electrons in presence of a spin–orbit field which is responsible for the generation of spin current. The interplay between two spin–orbit fields along with quasi-periodic Fibonacci sequence on persistent spin current is described elaborately, and from our analysis, we can estimate the strength of any one of two spin–orbit couplings together with on-site energy, provided the other is known.  相似文献
