A rigorous electromagnetic theory is developed to analyze multiport waveguide junctions with artificial inclusions formed of the conducting strips and dielectric layers. The method is based on the Fourier transform technique combined with the mode matching method technique that takes into account the edge conditions in vicinity of the strip edges. The scattering characteristics of a 3-port junction are discussed with the numerical examples for the SWR maps, the power reflection and transmission coefficients, and the 2D plots of near fields distributions inside the junction area. A strategy of optimize matching properties of the 3-port waveguide junctions is also presented.  相似文献

This paper presents a concise and efficient scattering matrix formalism for stable analysis of elastic wave propagation in multilayered anisotropic solids. The formalism is capable of resolving completely the numerical instability problems associated with transfer matrix method, thereby obviating the extensive reformulation in its modified versions based on delta operator technique. In contrast to the earlier reflection matrix formalisms, all scattering matrices are obtained in a direct manner without invoking wave-propagator or scatterer operator concepts. Both local and global reflection and transmission matrices corresponding to scatterings in two and more layers are derived. The derivation of global scattering matrices in terms of the local ones is carried out concisely based on physical arguments to provide better insights into scattering mechanism. Another formulation which is even more succinct is also devised for obtaining the global scattering matrices directly from eigensolutions. The resultant expressions and algorithm are terse, efficient and convenient for implementation.  相似文献

Dielectric-filled waveguides may be advantageous for heating reactor-grade tokamak plasmas, due to their compactness and power-handling capability. We present a theoretical analysis of coax excitation and plasma impedance for a dielectric-filled rectangular waveguide. The plasma reflection coefficient is obtained by matching plasma and waveguide fields at the interface. The numerical results show that the reflection coefficients can be made small by careful tailoring of the waveguide dimensions to the density profile for heating at the second or third harmonic of deuterium. We present a scattering matrix approach for the design of a coaxial feed to match the waveguide in the presence of a wide range of plasma loading. For a waveguide filled with a high permittivity dielectric, a shorted probe gives better coupling than an open-ended probe.  相似文献

We develop an analytical and numerical formalism to study the double atomic nanowell configuration influence on coherent transmission and reflection scattering, derived as elements of a Landauer-Büttiker type scattering matrix in quasi-one-dimensional multichannel waveguides. The state densities at neighbourhood of the defect region are investigated. The defect region consists in the presence of a double atomic nanowell occurring in thin film. One solves this problem by the matching method in the harmonic approximation. The theoretical formalism using simultaneously the Green’s function and the matching method is detailed in order to describe the complete evanescent and the propagating fields. The phononic coherent conductance is also studied. Numerical calculations are presented and illustrated as function of the force constants occurring in the model. The fluctuations in the conductance spectra are related to Fano resonances due to the coherent coupling between travelling phonons and the localized vibration modes in the neighbourhood of the nanowell domain.  相似文献

A theoretical model is presented for the study of the scattering of magnons at an extended symmetric atomic well in very thin magnetic films. The thin film consists of three cubic atomic planes with ordered spins coupled by Heisenberg exchange, and the system is supported on a non-magnetic substrate, and considered otherwise free from magnetic interactions. The coherent transmission and reflection scattering coefficients are derived as elements of a Landauer type scattering matrix. Transmission and reflection scattering cross sections are hence calculated specifically, as a function of the varying local magnetic exchange on the inhomogeneous boundary. Detailed numerical results for the individual incident film magnons, and for the calculated overall magnon conductance, show characteristic transmission properties, with associated Fano resonances, depending on the magnetic boundary conditions and on the magnon incidence.  相似文献

A rigorous analysis and design of efficient coupling from photonic crystal (PhC) waveguides into conventional dielectric waveguides is reported. Closed-form expressions for the reflection and transmission matrices that completely characterize the scattering that occurs at the interface are derived based on an eigenmode expansion technique and a Bloch basis. Analytic expressions are used to analyze the reflection into PhC waveguides. We obtain that negligible reflection can be achieved by choosing a certain interface within a PhC unit cell. Furthermore, analytic expressions are used to design a novel and compact coupler structure in order to achieve high coupling efficiency when broad dielectric waveguides are considered. Thereby, transmission efficiencies near 100 from the fundamental guided Bloch mode into the fundamental waveguide mode are achieved.  相似文献

We propose a scattering matrix approach to the modeling of large-scale photonic crystal circuits and show that the transmission properties of complex circuits can be accurately calculated on the basis of scattering matrices of individual photonic crystal devices and waveguides that connect them. In addition, we show that functional devices such as waveguide bends generally exhibit a discontinuous frequency dependence in the phases associated with their complex reflection and transmission coefficients and emphasize its importance for the adequate modeling of photonic crystal circuits.  相似文献

An improved generalized admittance (GAM) matrix technique is presented in this paper. Matrix transformation eliminates the singularity factor of GAM, denominator (1+Γ), because of new presentations of GAM. The relationship equations between II-port current and I-port incidence wave is computed by mode matching method. The generalized scattering matrix (GSM) of waveguide structure and its discontinuity problems is obtained with relationship equations and reflection coefficients. The GSM’s of millimeter-wave multistepped bend and T-junction in rectangular waveguide are computed by the improved GAM technique. The results comparisons between the proposed method and commercial software HFSS10.0 show the validity of the proposed method, which improves the validity of the GAM technique and reduces mathematical efforts. It is general, very efficient and can be used to solve other complicated and multiport network problems.  相似文献

The inverse linear problem of the theory of waveguide scattering of monochromatic light for noisy and pure input data is studied. Under natural physical and mathematical constraints on the measured scattering diagram, a correct analytical solution of the formulated inverse problem in a statistically irregular waveguide is obtained for the case of integral and differential scattering. The paper presents a rigorous solution of the scattering problem by a circular dielectric and perfectly conducting cylinders of any radius and any height in the rectangular waveguide oriented perpendicularly to a wall. The method is based on the representation of fields in waveguide and dielectric medium by cylindrical eigenfunctions and application of boundary conditions on surfaces of the cylinder to evaluate the fields inside and outside the cylinder. The reflection and transmission coefficients are expressed through the fields. As an example the reflection and transmission coefficients versus frequency for various dielectric and metallic cylinders are computed. The microwave transmission and reflection is evaluated for stratified lossy dielectric segments partially filling the rectangular waveguide by the method which combines the multimode network theory with the rigorous mode matching procedure. As an example, we investigate in detail the microwave scattering properties of II-VI-epitaxial layer on a lossy dielectric substrate inserted in the rectangular waveguide. The experimental data verify the accuracy and the effectiveness of the present method. Extensive numerical results are presented to establish useful guidelines for the contactless microwave measurement of the conductivity of the epitaxial layer.  相似文献

提出了一种新的水平变化波导中声场的耦合简正波求解方法,该方法能够处理二维点源和线源问题,提供声场的双向解。该方法利用全局矩阵(DGM)一次性求解耦合模式的系数,消除了传播矩阵递推求解中存在的误差累积问题;此外,改善了现有模型中对距离函数的归一化方法,从而避免了泄露模式指数增长导致的数值溢出问题。本文还给出了绝对软海底理想波导中耦合矩阵的闭合表达式,并分析了单个阶梯下简正波耦合现象。此外,本文还计算了理想楔形波导中的声传播问题(ASA标准问题),并与解析解及COUPLE07计算结果进行了比较,结果表明该方法是一种稳定、精确的水平变化波导中的声场计算方法。  相似文献

The applicability conditions for the concept of a directivity pattern (a scattering amplitude) in the problems of waveguide propagation are formulated. The consideration is based on the solution of the Sturm-Liouville problem. The results of the comparison between these conditions and the analogous conditions obtained earlier in the ray approximation are discussed. The expression for the scattering matrix of waveguide modes is modified on the basis of the suggested conditions in such a way that it involves only the quantities determined from the solution of the Schrödinger equation. This makes it possible to perform numerical calculations by using the results of numerous studies of the propagation in inhomogeneous waveguides and the diffraction by complex-structured bodies in free space.  相似文献

Multiple scattering of acoustic waves in a planar horizontal waveguide by finite-length cylinders is considered. Cylinder height equals the waveguide depth, and both are vertically constrained by the pressure-release boundaries. An analytically exact solution is obtained via normal mode expansion method in conjunction with the concept of the T matrix. The problem is decomposed into an infinite number of two-dimensional multiple scattering problems, modulated by waveguide mode shapes. Examples are presented for an isovelocity waveguide in which the medium is uniform and the waveguide depth is constant. It is found that, in numerical computations, including one or two evanescent modes captures the essence of the evanescent modes. Multiple scattering in the waveguide is compared with the corresponding two-dimensional case. It is concluded that, in low frequencies, the wave patterns in the two cases are very similar, with a shift in the frequency. The similarity diminishes when there are multiple propagating modes. Despite the mode mixing, some key features in the scattering as observed in the two-dimensional problem remain observable in the waveguide case.  相似文献

本文利用Mie散射理论对中红外波段三种不同类型散射体的散射和消光进行了研究,发现基质在三种不同类型散射体的散射和消光中所起作用完全不同。对于无吸收的高折射率散射体,基质折射率越大面积散射比(或面积消光比)越低;对于反常色散散射体,基质折射率越大面积散射比和面积肖光比越高;而对于金属散射体,基质折射率的大小对于散射和消光影响极小。  相似文献

将电磁波导的控制方程导向了Hamilton体系、辛几何的形式.以电磁场的横向分量组成对偶向量并采用分离变量法,可以得到Hamilton算子矩阵的辛本征值问题.共轭辛正交归一关系、辛本征解展开定理等均可在此应用.对于复杂横截面和填充非均匀材料的电磁波导,提出对偶棱边元,对截面半解析离散后即可进行数值求解.对偶棱边元克服了结点基有限元求解电磁场问题的困难,与常规棱边元相比在某些方面具有一定的优势. 关键词: 电磁波导 Hamilton体系 对偶变量 棱边元  相似文献

We develop a vector theory of waveguide monochromatic light scattering in an integrated optical waveguide with arbitrary three-dimensional irregularities in the presence of noise. The electrodynamical problem of laser radiation scattering in an irregular waveguide is solved by the method of coupled modes with the help of the theory of perturbations. The approximate solution of the inhomogeneous three-dimensional wave equation is derived by the method of modes and the method of Greens functions. The obtained Greens function is analyzed for the cases of propagating and evanescent modes of an irregular asymmetric optical waveguide. Analytical formulas for the near- and far-zone radiation fields are presented. Specifics of theoretical analysis of wave phenomena in irregular integrated optical waveguides are investigated. The object of the investigation and the main types of irregularities (smooth, statistical, and sharp) are described. The goals of the numerical modeling are formulated. The structure of the program and the general structure of the algorithm allowing numerical investigation of guided modes’ scattering from 3D-irregularities of an integrated optical waveguide are described. The dispersion relations of the TE and TM modes of the integrated optical waveguide under investigation, as well as field patterns of the radiating TE modes of the substrate and the laser radiation scattered from the three-dimensional guiding-layer inhomogeneities of an integrated optical waveguide, are presented. The results are analyzed in detail. The methods developed can be used for numerical investigation of the characteristics of laser radiation scattered in various optical waveguides with three-dimensional irregularities.  相似文献

In this paper, the application of the edge-based vector finite element method combined with the short-open calibration (SOC) technique to waveguide junction circulators was presented. By applying permittivity and permeability tensors, the functional formula for tetrahedral vector elements are analytically derived in terms of the electric field strength. And the SOC technique is directly accommodated in the FEM algorithm and used to truncate the computational domain. The SOC technique removes or separates unwanted parasitics brought by the approximation of the impressed voltage source and also the problem of resulting inconsistency between different simulations. Truncation of computational domain by SOC technique makes the iterative solvers for large-sparse linear matrix equations from FEM converge much faster than by perfectly matching layers (PML). The analysis of three 2-port networks is sufficient to form the admittance matrix of the corresponding three-port waveguide junction circulators. To validate the theory, typical three-dimensional numerical results of isotropic dielectric-filled discontinuity are first presented and compared with other hybrid numerical techniques. Further, the ferrite filled waveguide junction circulators are analysed and compared with the measured and available publications. The comparison shows that good agreement is obtained.  相似文献
