There seems to be no general theoretical argument to support the idea that thermodynamic functions are piecewise analytic. We suggest that nonanalyticity may be associated with Gibbs states which are quasiperiodic under space translations, or have a more general nonperiodic (turbulent) behavior.  相似文献

By a similar idea for the construction of Milnor’s gamma functions, we introduce “higher depth determinants” of the Laplacian on a compact Riemann surface of genus greater than one. We prove that, as a generalization of the determinant expression of the Selberg zeta function, this higher depth determinant can be expressed as a product of multiple gamma functions and what we call a Milnor–Selberg zeta function. It is shown that the Milnor–Selberg zeta function admits an analytic continuation, a functional equation and, remarkably, has an Euler product.  相似文献

We consider the shape optimization of spectral functions of Dirichlet–Laplacian eigenvalues over the set of star-shaped, symmetric, bounded planar regions with smooth boundary. The regions are represented using Fourier-cosine coefficients and the optimization problem is solved numerically using a quasi-Newton method. The method is applied to maximizing two particular nonsmooth spectral functions: the ratio of the nth to first eigenvalues and the ratio of the nth eigenvalue gap to first eigenvalue, both of which are generalizations of the Payne–Pólya–Weinberger ratio. The optimal values and attaining regions for n ? 13 are presented and interpreted as a study of the range of the Dirichlet–Laplacian eigenvalues. For both spectral functions and each n, the optimal attaining region has multiplicity two nth eigenvalue.  相似文献

The members of one explicit class of functions in 2 are identified with the geodetic shear-free null congruences in Minkowski's space-time. Members of a second explicit class are identified with the type-N vacuum space-times with twist-free rays. These two classes are special subclasses from a larger class of functions associated with the type-N space-times. A design method of the apodizing functions for guided-wave four-port electrooptic tunable filter (EOTF) is proposed. As an example, the specific form of Gaussian apodizing function is designed by analyzing the crosstalk performance of EOTF. Crosstalk is calculated based on the transient response of the filter to an input optical pulse. It is concluded that crosstalk level below -30 dB for 20-Gb/s data rates and 100-GHz channel spacing is achievable with presently available substrate dimensions.  相似文献

In our previous paper (Allendes et al., 2013 [10]), we showed that multi-fold Mellin–Barnes (MB) transforms of Usyukina–Davydychev (UD) functions may be reduced to two-fold MB transforms. The MB transforms were written there as polynomials of logarithms of ratios of squares of the external momenta with certain coefficients. We also showed that these coefficients have a combinatoric origin. In this paper, we present an explicit formula for these coefficients. The procedure of recovering the coefficients is based on taking the double-uniform limit in certain series of smooth functions of two variables which is constructed according to a pre-determined iterative way. The result is obtained by using basic methods of mathematical analysis. We observe that the finiteness of the limit of this iterative chain of smooth functions should reflect itself in other mathematical constructions, too, since it is not related in any way to the explicit form of the MB transforms. This finite double-uniform limit is represented in terms of a differential operator with respect to an auxiliary parameter which acts on the integrand of a certain two-fold MB integral. To demonstrate that our result is compatible with original representations of UD functions, we reproduce the integrands of these original integral representations by applying this differential operator to the integrand of the simple integral representation of the scalar triangle four-dimensional integral J(1,1,1−ε)J(1,1,1ε).  相似文献

In this short communication, we want to pay attention to a few wrong formulas which are unfortunately cited and used in a dozen papers afterwards. We prove that the provided relations and asymptotic expansion about the q-gamma function are not correct. This is illustrated by numerous concrete counterexamples. The error came from the wrong assumption about the existence of a parameter which does not depend on anything. Here, we apply a similar procedure and derive a correct formula for the q-gamma function.  相似文献

For a quantum mechanical two-bodys-wave resonance we prove that the evolution of square integrable approximations of the Gamow function is outgoing and exponentially damped. An error estimate is given in terms of resonance energy and explicity. We obtain the Breit-Wigner form. The results are used in an -decay model to prove general validity of the exponential decay law for periods of several lifetimes.  相似文献

We apply a functional perturbative approach to the calculation of the equal-time two-point correlation functions and the potential between static color charges to one-loop order in Coulomb gauge Yang–Mills theory. The functional approach proceeds through a solution of the Schrödinger equation for the vacuum wave functional to order g2g2 and derives the equal-time correlation functions from a functional integral representation via new diagrammatic rules. We show that the results coincide with those obtained from the usual Lagrangian functional integral approach, extract the beta function, and determine the anomalous dimensions of the equal-time gluon and ghost two-point functions and the static potential under the assumption of multiplicative renormalizability to all orders.  相似文献

We study quasi-periodic solutions of the Lund–Regge model in terms of the elliptic functions of Weierstrass. They describe the Kida-class motions of relativistic strings in an external antisymmetric tensor field. Our solution includes various vortex string shapes such as the closed vortex ring, the helicoidal filament, the generalized Zee's solution and the Hasimoto type 1-soliton filament.  相似文献
