The effect of an electric field on the passage of thallium-204 beta particles through polymethyl methacrylate, polystyrene, polyethylene terephthalate (Lavsan), and polyethylene targets was investigated. The number of transmitted beta particles and their angular and energy distributions were determined. The transmission curves were obtained with a SBT-7 counter. The angular distribution was investigated in a specially designed scattering chamber, and the energy distribution was determined with a scintillation beta spectrometer incorporating the USD-1 and AI-100 instruments. It was found that the relative change in the number of transmitted beta particles depends on the size of the entrance solid angle, depends linearly on the potential difference applied to the dielectric, and is practically independent of the dielectric material if its thickness is expressed in mass units. It was also found that the relative change in angular distribution up to 60° with potential differences of not more than 10 kV is independent of the scattering angle. The energy distribution is not only shifted on the energy scale, but its shape is also altered. The results are attributed to the effect of the electric field on both the energy of the particles and the direction of their momentum. A simple method of calculating the effect of the field on the number of transmitted beta particles is proposed. Nonuniformity of the microdeformation rate and the parameters of microdeformation jumps were studied in the creep regime for a polymethyl methacrylate irradiated by various dozes of the Co-60 γ radiation. The creep rate during compression of the polymethyl methacrylate was measured by an interferogram on 300-nm deformation increments. It is shown that the periods L of rate oscillations (jumps of deformation) on three scale levels are dependent on the irradiation doze and are also changed after prolonged exposure of samples in air. In the doze range 0 to 330 kGy, both a decrease and an increase in L are observed, which corresponds to the unstable kinetics of radiation chemical processes. The deformation jumps permit estimates of the radiation effect on various structural levels. It is concluded that the effect of radiation on coarser microstructural formations is the largest.

Crack propagation in polymethyl methacrylate plates under various loading conditions are studied experimentally. It is shown that the behavior of a crack is unstable at both quasi-static and impulse loading. It is found that the time of crack propagation may be much longer than the duration of an external impulse action.  相似文献

The surface and interfacial properties of polymers are important for their applications. In one of our previous articles, we discussed the relationship between the dispersive surface tension component and the density and molecular weight of solvents and polymers to seek a simple and easy method to estimate the rationality of surface tension results of polymers. We found that for 30 organic solvents and 12 polymers, there was a good relationship between the dispersive surface tension and the experiential parameter 1/ρ2 M 0.2 w . In this article, the existence of the squared density term is simply deduced from the general molecular interaction energy equation and is proved with four pairs of polymer/monomer; these are polystyrene/styrene, polyisoprene/isoprene, polymethyl methacrylate/methyl methacrylate, and polyvinyl acetate/vinyl acetate.  相似文献

The results of studies of the physical nature of emissions produced in polymethyl methacrylate excited by electron beams of a subnanosecond or a nanosecond duration are presented. The spatial, amplitude, and spectral-kinetic properties of emissions have been examined under an electron beam energy density varying from 10–4 to 4 × 10–1 J/cm2. It has been found that cathodoluminescence is the primary type of emission under low energy densities of the electron beam. When the energy density of a nanosecond electron beam and/or the number of pulses of excitation by a subnanosecond electron beam were increased, an electrical breakdown of polymethyl methacrylate occurred in the irradiated region. This process was accompanied by a burst of emission of dense, low-temperature plasma.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with finite element (FE) prediction of forced vibrations using a linear viscoelastic constitutive vibration damping modelling technique. A combined numerical and experimental investigation was performed on two bonded aluminium-PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) plates with different geometry. Three-dimensional FE models were established using experimentally estimated PMMA material properties (elastic and damping) from previously published procedures. The viscoelastic material damping parameters are here validated from the perspective of accurate estimation of constitutive material properties. Vibration responses were predicted from the FE models and measured on the two composite plate structures at a large number of points. Comparisons between the numerical FE simulations and corresponding measured responses show that the estimated material damping properties used as input to the computations are very accurate and may be treated as independent of the geometry and boundary conditions of the plate structures, i.e., as constitutive damping parameters.  相似文献

A pulsed magnetic technique for generating mechanical pressure impulses is developed. Using this technique, polymethyl methacrylate and gabbrodiabase are tested in various loading schemes. We have studied the propagation of longitudinal strain solitons in waveguides made of polystyrene and plexiglas (polymethyl methacrylate) and long enough to provide noticeable changes in the wave shape and amplitude. The decay rate for nonlinear waves in these materials is estimated from the experimental data. An anomalously weak attenuation of strain solitons in polymers featuring a high dissipation of linear waves is discovered for the first time.  相似文献

Based on the results of fracture in polymethyl methacrylate and a spheroplastic using a magnetic-pulse setup, the specific work of the formation of a new surface is estimated, which is similar to Griffith’s surface energy for quasi-static tests. The value obtained is greater than the corresponding value determined from the quasi-static tests by an order of magnitude and tends to increase as the loading time decreases.  相似文献

 利用基于SOS的SPG200高压脉冲功率装置研究了有机玻璃(PMMA)和尼龙1010在变压器油中的闪络特性。研究结果表明:闪络电压随内电极直径增加近似指数增加,随闪络距离延长近似线性增加,相应的击穿时延也近似线性增加。受实验条件的影响,有机玻璃和尼龙1010的闪络性能略有差异。同轴径向电场降落集中在内电极表面附近一定径向距离内,同轴电场下的闪络电压主要由内电极表面电场与径向电场分布的均匀程度决定。增加内电极直径和延长闪络距离都可以提高闪络电压,而增加内电极直径的效果更显著。  相似文献

We used scanning confocal microscopy to study the fluorescence from a single terrylene molecule embedded in a thin polymer film of polymethyl methacrylate, at room temperature, with a high signal-to-background ratio. The photon-pair correlation function g((2))(tau) exhibits perfect photon antibunching at tau = 0 and a limit of 1.3, compatible with bunching associated with the molecular triplet state. Application of this molecular system to a triggered single-photon source based on single-molecule fluorescence is investigated.  相似文献

We fabricated a two-dimensional subwavelength grating (SWG) on a polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) film using a molding technique. A method of fabricating SWGs with high accuracy using a replica technique in an atmospheric environment was proposed. The SWG consisted of tapered gratings with a 200 nm period and a 200 nm deep groove. The reflectivity at wavelengths from 400 nm to 800 nm was measured and compared with the results calculated on the basis of rigorous coupled-wave analysis. At these wavelengths, the reflectivity decreased to approximately half that of the PMMA film.  相似文献

We report here on optical and magneto-optical spectra investigations of nanostructured Co and Ni films deposited on top of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) colloidal crystal. Resonant peculiarities have been observed in both spectra; their positions are scaled with the PMMA sphere diameter and depend on incident angle. Asymmetry of the resonance lineshapes as well as change of the direction of magneto-optical rotation has been observed. Both the surface plasmon resonance and the interference between reflections from the colloidal crystal and from the nanostructured film should be considered to explain the obtained results.  相似文献

The paper aims to examine the suitability of the strain energy density criterion in predicting the fracture behavior of blunt V-notched specimens under compression load. Recent studies on local stress fields have shown that the strain energy density, averaged over a specific control volume which embraces the notch round border, could be a robust parameter in the brittle fracture assessment of several materials. A set of experimental results recently published in the literature on compressive brittle fracture of V-notched specimens made out of polymethyl methacrylate has here been considered. Finite element analyses have been performed on plane strain condition and experimental data have been summarized by means of the SED criterion. It has been shown that the proposed criterion permits a satisfactory evaluation of the fracture load of polymethyl methacrylate specimens weakened by notches having different opening angles and radii.  相似文献

The phosphorescence of benzaldehyde in a porous glass-polymethyl methacrylate matrix at a temperature T=77 K is investigated. The spectral and kinetic characteristics of the phosphorescence of benzaldehyde in such matrices differ significantly from those for benzaldehyde in polymethyl methacrylate alone. In addition, these characteristics depend on the type of porous glass used. The results are attributed to the interaction of benzaldehyde molecules with the pore walls. Fiz. Tverd. The phase shifts of the extinction and refractive index gratings to the illumination pattern are revealed in doped polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA). The dynamic process of these shifts is studied via two-wave coupling at 351 nm. It is shown that these shifts are from the strain and the shrinkage inside the sample and accompanied with the photo-repolymerization process during the building process of the holographic grating. Such shifts will cause obvious energy exchange between the two recording beams and enough attention should be paid to the nonlocal property of the holographic gratings of the material in the application.  相似文献

We have prepared magnetic beads consisting of iron oxide nanoparticles in a polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and a polyvinyl butyral (PVB) matrix. High-field Mössbauer studies show that the particles have an almost perfect collinear spin structure and magnetization measurements show that they are superparamagnetic at room temperature at a time scale of seconds. We have followed the oxidation of the particles, which initially have a stoichiometry close to magnetite. The oxidation is fast during the first 2–3 weeks and then continues slowly such that even after 30 weeks the particles have not completely transformed to maghemite. The PVB beads are hydrophilic and biocompatible and are therefore well suited for applications in medicine and biology.  相似文献

为了抑制激光在线测厚时入射角波动引起的误差,根据几何光学分析了激光透射式和反射式测厚原理,发现激光在特定入射角附近波动时,两种方式的测厚误差一正一负,具有互补性,在此基础上提出基于透射和反射同时测量的互补式测厚方法,该方法可将误差限定在透射式和反射式测量误差之间,抑制在线测厚误差.对于有机玻璃平板,理论计算表明,当激光入射角在67.013°±4°波动时,相对误差绝对值在1%以内,误差抑制率均值大于90%;当入射角为61.536°时,误差抑制率为100%.利用线结构激光器和两个线阵CCD相机搭建互补式测厚实验系统,测量了标称厚度为1~5mm的有机玻璃平板,与透射式和反射式测厚结果进行对照,除厚度为1mm的玻璃外,互补式测厚误差被限制在透射式和反射式之间,最大误差抑制率达61%.实验结果表明,该互补式方法有效抑制了误差,提高了在线厚度测量准确度,解决了在线测量不可重复性导致的无法通过均值法减小误差的问题.  相似文献

A method of obtaining polystyrene and polymethyl methacrylate films containing cyclometalated complexes of Pt(II) with 2-phenylpyridinate and 2-(2′-thienyl)pyridinate is described. The spectral and luminescent properties of these films at 77 and 298 K are studied. It is ascertained that the Pt(II) complexes in the films are in a monomolecular state.  相似文献
