The theory of the quantum information transmission between two semiconductor two-level quantum dots as two qubits through an intermediary photon gas in a cavity is presented. The reduced density matrix of each two-level quantum dot is the quantum information encoded into this qubit. The quantum information exchange between two distant qubits imbedded in the photon gas is performed in the form of the mutual dependence of their reduced density matrices due to the interaction between the electrons in the qubits and the photon gas. The system of rate equations for the reduced density matrix of the two-qubit system is derived. From the solution of this system of equations it follows the mutual dependence of the reduced density matrices of two distant qubits.  相似文献

We report observations of entanglement of two remote atomic qubits, achieved by generating an entangled state of an atomic qubit and a single photon at site , transmitting the photon to site in an adjacent laboratory through an optical fiber, and converting the photon into an atomic qubit. Entanglement of the two remote atomic qubits is inferred by performing, locally, quantum state transfer of each of the atomic qubits onto a photonic qubit and subsequent measurement of polarization correlations in violation of the Bell inequality [EQUATION: SEE TEXT]. We experimentally determine [EQUATION: SEE TEXT]. Entanglement of two remote atomic qubits, each qubit consisting of two independent spin wave excitations, and reversible, coherent transfer of entanglement between matter and light represent important advances in quantum information science.  相似文献

We present a complete deterministic scheme for the multi-electron Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) state analyzer, resorting to an interface between the polarization of a probe photon and the spin of an electron in a quantum dot embedded in a double-sided optical microcavity. All the multi-spin GHZ states can be completely discriminated by using single-photon detectors and linear optical elements. Our scheme has some features. First, it is a complete GHZ-state analyzer for multi-electron spin systems. Second, the initial entangled states remain after being identified and they can be used for a successive task. Third, the electron qubits are static and the photons play a role of a medium for information transfer, which has a good application in quantum repeater in which the electron qubits are used to store the information and the photon qubits are used to transfer the information between others.  相似文献

We present an optical filter that transmits photon pairs only if they share the same horizontal or vertical polarization, without decreasing the quantum coherence between these two possibilities. Various applications for entanglement manipulations and multiphoton qubits are discussed.  相似文献

Repeat-until-success linear optics distributed quantum computing   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We demonstrate the possibility to perform distributed quantum computing using only single-photon sources (atom-cavity-like systems), linear optics, and photon detectors. The qubits are encoded in stable ground states of the sources. To implement a universal two-qubit gate, two photons should be generated simultaneously and pass through a linear optics network, where a measurement is performed on them. Gate operations can be repeated until a success is heralded without destroying the qubits at any stage of the operation. In contrast with other schemes, this does not require explicit qubit-qubit interactions, a priori entangled ancillas, nor the feeding of photons into photon sources.  相似文献

We demonstrate a two-qubit Deutsch-Jozsa algorithm with single photons from a single InP quantum dot. The qubits are implemented via the spatial mode and the polarization of a single photon. Our photon source is operated both under continuous and pulsed excitation, the latter allowing deterministic quantum logic by generating photons on demand with a strong suppression of two-photon events. The computation reached a success probability of up to 79%. We also exploit the concept of decoherence-free subspaces that helps to make our experimental setup robust against sources of phase noise.  相似文献

Abstract

On-chip integrated photonic circuits are crucial for further progress toward quantum technologies and in the science of quantum optics. The quantum controlled-Z gate is an example of the maximally entangling gate, which is universal for quantum computing when coupled with single-qubit gates. This article demonstrates a deterministic controlled-Z photonic quantum gate based on titanium in-diffused channel waveguides in which polarization and modal degrees of freedom of a single photon are used for encoding the control and target qubits, respectively.  相似文献

Cluster states are the fundamental resource for the one-way model of quantum computation. In this paper we show the realization of a two-photon four-qubit cluster state. The qubits are encoded in the polarization and the linear momentum of the particles. By using this state we realized two important quantum algorithms, namely the Grover’s search and the Deutsch’s algorithm.  相似文献

We present an economical setup for faithful entanglement sharing against collective noise. It is composed of polarizing beam splitters, half wave plates, polarization independent wavelength division multiplexers, and frequency shifters. An arbitrary qubit error on the polarization state of each photon in a multi-photon system caused by the noisy channel can be rejected, without resorting to additional qubits, fast polarization modulators, and nondestructive quantum nondemolition detectors. Its success probability is in principle 100%, which is independent of the noise parameters, and it can be applied directly in any one-way quantum communication protocol based on entanglement.  相似文献

The quantum optical gate CCNOT based on five level atomic scheme is discussed. The qubits are encoded in polarization properties of three optical beams. The nonlinear cross Kerr effect is used for getting nonlinear phase shifts in these beams. A way of CNOT implementation using coupled double quantum wells is suggested. The device is described in the framework of the model based on the operator extensions theory.  相似文献

Transferring entangled states between matter qubits and microwave-field (or optical-field) qubits is of fundamental interest in quantum mechanics and necessary in hybrid quantum information processing and quantum communication. We here propose a way for transferring entangled states between superconducting qubits (matter qubits) and microwave-field qubits. This proposal is realized by a system consisting of multiple superconducting qutrits and microwave cavities. Here, „qutrit” refers to a three-level quantum system with the two lowest levels encoding a qubit while the third level acting as an auxiliary state. In contrast, the microwave-field qubits are encoded with coherent states of microwave cavities. Because the third energy level of each qutrit is not populated during the operation, decoherence from the higher energy levels is greatly suppressed. The entangled states can be deterministically transferred because measurement on the states is not needed. The operation time is independent of the number of superconducting qubits or microwave-field qubits. In addition, the architecture of the circuit system is quite simple because only a coupler qutrit and an auxiliary cavity are required. As an example, our numerical simulations show that high-fidelity transfer of entangled states from two superconducting qubits to two microwave-field qubits is feasible with present circuit QED technology. This proposal is quite general and can be extended to transfer entangled states between other matter qubits (e.g., atoms, quantum dots, and NV centers) and microwave- or optical-field qubits encoded with coherent states.  相似文献

We suggest an efficient scheme for quantum computation with linear optical elements, where the qubits are encoded in single photon states. The scheme reduces the resources required per logical gate by several orders of magnitude, compared to an earlier proposal of Knill, Laflamme, and Milburn, while the resource overhead per gate is independent of the length of the computation. A central feature of the scheme, enabling these improvements, is the prior construction of a "linked" photon state designed according to the particular quantum circuit one wishes to process. Once this state has been successfully prepared, the computation is pursued deterministically by a sequence of teleportation steps.  相似文献

The paper investigates the dynamic evolution behaviors of entanglement and quantum discord of coupled superconducting qubits in circuit QED system. We put emphasis on the effects of cavity field quantum state on quantum entanglement and quantum correlations dynamic behaviors of coupling superconducting qubits. The results show that, (1) generally speaking, the entanglement will appear the death and new birth because of the interaction between qubits and cavity field, on the contrary, this phenomenon will not appear in quantum discord. (2) When the cavity field is in coherent state, the entanglement survival time is controlled by the average photon number. The more the average photon number is, the longer survival time of entanglement is prolonged. Thus it has the benefit of keeping quantum correlations. (3) When the cavity field is in squeezed state, the squeezed amplitude parameters have controlling effects on quantum correlations including entanglement and quantum discord. On the one hand, the increase of squeezed amplitude parameters can prolong the survival time of entanglement, on the other hand, with the increase of squeezed amplitude parameters, the robustness of quantum discord is more and more superior to concurrence and is more advantage to keep the system quantum correlations. The further study results show that the increase of the initial relative phase of coupling superconducting qubits can also keep the quantum correlations.  相似文献

We report an experimental demonstration of Schumacher's quantum noiseless coding theorem. Our experiment employs a sequence of single photons, each of which represents three qubits in terms of eight spatial and polarization modes. We initially prepare each photon in one of a set of eight nonorthogonal code word states corresponding to the value of a block of three binary letters. We use quantum coding to compress this quantum data into a two-qubit quantum channel and then uncompress the two-qubit channel to restore the original data with a fidelity approaching the theoretical limit.  相似文献

We study the interaction between a single-mode quantized field and a quantum system composed of two qubits. We suppose that two qubits initially be prepared in the mixed and separable state, and study how entanglement between two qubits arises in the course of evolution according to the Jaynes-Cummings type interaction with nonclassical radiation field. We also investigate the relation between entanglement and purity of qubit subsystem. We show that different photon statistics have different effects on the dynamical behavior of the qubit subsystem. When the qubits are initially prepared in the maximally mixed and separable state, for coherent state field we cannot find entanglement between two qubits; for squeezed state field entanglement between two qubits exists in several short period of time; for even and odd coherent state fields of large photon number, the dynamical behavior of the entanglement between two qubits shows collapse and revival phenomenon. For odd coherent state field of small photon number, the entanglement with both qubits initially prepared in maximally mixed state can be stronger than that with both qubits initially prepared in pure states. For fields of small photon number, the entanglement strongly depends on the states they are initially prepared in. For coherent state field, and odd and even coherent state fields of large photon number, the entanglement only depends on the purity of the initial state of qubit subsystem. We also show that during the evolution the unentangled state may be purer than the entangled state, and the maximum degree of entanglement may not occur at the time when the qubit subsystem is in the purist state.  相似文献

We demonstrate how to perform quantum phase gate with cavity QED system in decoherence-free subspace by using only linear optics elements and photon detectors. The qubits are encoded in the singlet state of the atoms in cavities among spatially separated nodes, and the quantum interference of polarized photons decayed from the optical cavities is used to realized the desired quantum operation among distant nodes. In comparison with previous schemes, the distinct advantage is that the gate fidelity could not only resist collective noises, but also immune from atomic spontaneous emission, cavity decay, and imperfection of the photodetectors. We also discuss the experimental feasibility of our scheme.  相似文献

Exploiting spatial modes and polarization, we experimentally demonstrate the realization of a conditional π-phase shift. Our approach is based on an optical circuit where the polarization and transverse degrees of freedom control the Gouy phase which is applied on Hermite-Gaussian beams. Our results show good wo-qubit states has beengood agreement with the simulation of the optical circuit. As an application, we propose the implementation of a two-qubit quantum phase gate, where the qubits are encoded on the Hermite-Gaussian modes and linear polarization states.  相似文献

In this paper we propose a new scheme of long-distance quantum cryptography based on spin networks with qubits stored in electron spins of quantum dots. By" conditional Faraday- rotation, single photon polarization measurement, and quantum state transfer, maximal-entangled Bell states for quantum cryptography between two long-distance parties are created. Meanwhile, efficient quantum state transfer over arbitrary" distances is obtained in a spin chain by" a proper choice of coupling strengths and using spin memory- technique improved. We also analyse the security" of the scheme against the cloning-based attack which can be also implemented in spin network and discover that this spin network cloning coincides with the optimal fidelity- achieved by" an eavesdropper for entanglement-based cryptography.  相似文献
