We have investigated a gap structure in the spin-triplet superconductor Sr2RuO4 through the measurement of the 101Ru nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate (101)(1/T1) down to 0.09 K at zero magnetic field. In the superconducting state, 1/T1 in a high-quality sample with T(c) approximately 1.5 K exhibits a sharp decrease without the coherence peak, followed by a T3 behavior down to 0.15 K. This result is in marked contrast to the behavior observed below approximately 0.4 K in samples with lower T(c), where T1T is a constant. This behavior is demonstrated to be not intrinsic. We conclude that the gap structure in Sr2RuO4 is significantly anisotropic, consistent with line-node-like models.  相似文献

We have performed thermodynamic and neutron scattering measurements on the S=1/2 kagomé lattice antiferromagnet ZnCu3(OH)6Cl2. The susceptibility indicates a Curie-Weiss temperature of theta CW approximately = -300 K; however, no magnetic order is observed down to 50 mK. Inelastic neutron scattering reveals a spectrum of low energy spin excitations with no observable gap down to 0.1 meV. The specific heat at low-T follows a power law temperature dependence. These results suggest that an unusual spin liquid state with essentially gapless excitations is realized in this kagomé lattice system.  相似文献

We probed the local electronic properties of the mixed-valent Co+4-x triangular lattice in NaxCoO2.yH(2)O by 59Co NMR. We observed two distinct types of Co sites for x > or =1/2, but the valence seems averaged out for x approximately 1/3. Local spin fluctuations exhibit qualitatively the same trend down to approximately 100 K regardless of the carrier concentration x, and hence the nature of the electronic ground state. A canonical Fermi-liquid behavior emerges below approximately 100 K only for x approximately 1/3.  相似文献

Flux flow was studied over an entire temperature range down to T approximately 2% of T(c) by using intense pulsed current densities to overcome flux-vortex pinning. The resistivity at high vortex velocities is proportional to B and roughly follows rho approximately rho(n)B/H(c2), with a prefactor of order unity. Contrary to some speculation, rho(n) saturates to a finite residual value as T-->0, indicating a metallic (rho-->finite) rather than insulating (rho-->infinity) normal state, and the vortex dissipation continues to be conventional as T-->0.  相似文献

We report measurements of the 115In nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate ( 1/T1) between T = 0.09 and 100 K in the new heavy fermion (HF) compound CeIrIn5. At 0.4 < or = T< or = 100 K, 1/T1 is strongly T-dependent, which indicates that CeIrIn5 is much more itinerant than known Ce-based HFs. We find that 1/T1T, subtracting that for LaIrIn5, follows a (1 / T+straight theta)3/4 variation with straight theta = 8 K. We argue that this novel feature points to anisotropic, due to a layered crystal structure, spin fluctuations near a magnetic ordering. The bulk superconductivity sets in at 0.40 K below which the coherence peak is absent and 1/T1 follows a T3 variation, which suggests unconventional superconductivity with line-node gap.  相似文献

Low temperature magnetization measurements on the pyrochlore spin ice compound Dy2Ti2O7 reveal that the ice-rule breaking spin flip, appearing at H approximately 0.9 T applied parallel to the [111] direction, turns into a novel first-order transition for T<0.36 K which is most probably of a liquid-gas type. T-linear variation of the critical field observed down to 0.03 K suggests the unusual situation that the entropy release across the transition remains finite [approximately 0.5 (J/K) x mol-Dy] as T-->0, in accordance with a breaking of the macroscopic degeneracy in the intermediate "kagomé ice" state.  相似文献

We report a 29Si NMR study on aligned single crystals of YbRh2Si2 which shows behavior characteristic of a quantum critical point (QCP: T(N)-->0). The Knight shift K and the nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate 1/T(1) of Si show a strong dependence on the external field H, especially below 5 kOe. At the lowest H used in this measurement (H approximately 1.5 kOe), it was found that 1/T(1)T continues to increase down to 50 mK, whereas K stays constant with a large magnitude below 200 mK. This result strongly suggests the development of antiferromagnetic fluctuations with finite q vectors that compete with q=0 spin fluctuations in the vicinity of the QCP near H=0.5 kOe.  相似文献

ZnCu(3)(OH)(6)Cl(2) (S=1/2) is a promising new candidate for an ideal Kagome Heisenberg antiferromagnet, because there is no magnetic phase transition down to approximately 50 mK. We investigated its local magnetic and lattice environments with NMR techniques. We demonstrate that the intrinsic local spin susceptibility decreases toward T=0, but that slow freezing of the lattice near approximately 50 K, presumably associated with OH bonds, contributes to a large increase of local spin susceptibility and its distribution. Spin dynamics near T=0 obey a power-law behavior in high magnetic fields.  相似文献

We report (27)Al Knight shift ( (27)K) measurement on a single-crystal UNi(2)Al(3) that reveals a coexistence of superconductivity and a spin-density-wave (SDW) type of magnetic ordering ( T(SDW) = 4.5 K). The spin part of (27)K, (27)K(s), does not change down to 50 mK across the superconducting (SC) transition temperature T(c) approximately 0.9 K. In contrast with the isostructural compound UPd(2)Al(3) ( T(c) approximately 2 K), which was identified to be a spin-singlet d-wave superconductor, the behavior of (27)K strongly supports that UNi(2)Al(3) , like UPt(3) and Sr(2)RuO(4), belongs to a class of spin-triplet SC pairing state superconductors.  相似文献

The magnetic and transport properties of PrIr(2)B(2) and PrIr(2)B(2)C have been investigated by dc and ac magnetic susceptibility, specific heat, electrical resistivity and magnetoresistance measurements. PrIr(2)B(2) forms in CaRh(2)B(2)-type orthorhombic crystal structure (space group Fddd). At low fields the dc magnetic susceptibility of PrIr(2)B(2) exhibits a sharp anomaly near 46 K which is followed by an abrupt increase below 10 K with a peak at 6 K, and split-up in ZFC and FC data below 46 K. In contrast, the specific heat exhibits only a broad Schottky type hump near 9 K which indicates that there is no long range magnetic order in this compound. The thermo-remanent magnetization is found to decay very slowly with a mean relaxation time τ = 3917 s. An ac magnetic susceptibility measurement also observes two sharp anomalies; the peak positions strongly depend on the frequency and shift towards high temperature with an increase in frequency, obeying the Vogel-Fulcher law as expected for a canonical spin-glass system. The two spin-glass transitions occur at freezing temperatures T(f1) = 36 K and T(f2) = 3.5 K with shifts in the freezing temperatures per decade of frequency δT(f1) = 0.044 and δT(f2) = 0.09. An analysis of the frequency dependence of the transition temperature with critical slowing down, τ(max)/τ(0) = [(T(f)-T(SG))/T(SG)](-zν), gives τ(0) = 10(-7) s and exponent zν = 8, and the Vogel-Fulcher law gives an activation energy of 84 K for T(f1) and 27.5 K for T(f2). While zν = 8 is typical for spin-glass system, the characteristic relaxation time τ(0) = 10(-7) s is very large and comparable to that of superspin-glass systems. An addition of C in PrIr(2)B(2) leads to PrIr(2)B(2)C which forms in LuNi(2)B(2)C-type tetragonal structure (space group I4/mmm) and remains paramagnetic down to 2 K. The specific heat data show a broad Schottky type anomaly, which could be fairly reproduced with CEF analysis which suggests that the ground state is a CEF-split singlet and the first excited state singlet is situated 15 K above the ground state. The Sommerfeld coefficient γ~300 mJ mol(-1) K(-2) of PrIr(2)B(2)C is very high and reflects a heavy fermion behaviour in this compound. We believe that the heavy fermion state in PrIr(2)B(2)C has its origin in low lying crystal field excitations as has been observed in PrRh(2)B(2)C.  相似文献

We apply strong magnetic fields of H=28.5 to 43 T to suppress superconductivity (SC) in the cuprates Bi2Sr2-xLaxCuO6+delta (x=0.65, 0.40, 0.25, 0.15, and 0), and investigate the low temperature (T) normal state by 63Cu nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate (1/T1) measurements. We find that the pseudogap (PG) phase persists deep inside the overdoped region but terminates at x approximately 0.05, which corresponds to the hole doping concentration of approximately 0.21. Beyond this critical point, the normal state is a Fermi liquid that persists as the ground state when superconductivity is removed by the magnetic field. A comparison of the superconducting state with the H-induced normal state in the x=0.40 (Tc=32 K) sample indicates that there remains substantial part of the Fermi surface even in the fully developed PG state, which suggests that the PG and SC are coexisting matters.  相似文献

High-field specific heat measurements on BaCo(2)V(2)O(8), which is a good realization of an S=1/2 quasi-one-dimensional (1D) Ising-like antifferomagnet, have been performed in magnetic fields up to 12 T along the chain and at temperature down to 200 mK. We have found a new magnetic ordered state in the field-induced phase above H(c) approximately 3.9 T. We suggest that a novel type of the incommensurate order, which is caused by the quantum effect inherent in the S=1/2 quasi-1D Ising-like antiferromagnet, appears in the field-induced phase.  相似文献

From measurements of the 63Cu Knight shift ( K) and the nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate ( 1/T1) under magnetic fields from zero up to 28 T in the slightly overdoped high- T(c) superconductor TlSr2CaCu2O6.8 ( T(c) = 68 K), we find that the pseudogap behavior, i.e., the reductions of 1/T1T and K above T(c) from the values expected from the normal state at high T, is strongly field dependent and follows a scaling relation. We show that this scaling is consistent with the effects of the Cooper pair density fluctuations. The present finding contrasts sharply with the pseudogap property reported previously in the underdoped regime where no field effect was seen up to 23.2 T. The implications are discussed.  相似文献

We present the temperature dependence of the thermal conductivity kappa(T) of the unconventional superconductor Sr2RuO4 down to low temperatures ( approximately 100 mK). In the T-->0 K limit we found a finite residual term in kappa/T, providing clear evidence for the superconducting state with an unconventional pairing. The residual term remains unchanged for samples with different T(c), demonstrating the universal character of heat transport in this spin-triplet superconductor. The low-temperature behavior of kappa suggests the strong impurity scattering with a phase shift close to pi/2. A criterion for the observation of universality is experimentally deduced.  相似文献

We report bulk superconductivity (SC) in Eu(0.2)Sr(0.8)(Fe(0.86)Co(0.14))(2)As(2) single crystals by means of electrical resistivity, magnetic susceptibility and specific heat measurements with T(c) is approximately equal to 20 K and an antiferromagnetic (AFM) ordering of Eu(2+) moments at T(N) is approximately equal to 2.0 K in zero field. (75)As NMR experiments have been performed in the two external field directions (H is parallel to ab) and (H is parallel to c). (75)As-NMR spectra are analysed in terms of first-order quadrupolar interaction. Spin-lattice relaxation rates (1/T(1)) follow a T(3) law in the temperature range 4.2-15 K. There is no signature of a Hebel-Slichter coherence peak just below the SC transition, indicating a non-s-wave or s(±) type of superconductivity. In the temperature range 160-18 K 1/T(1)T follows the C/(T+θ) law reflecting 2D AFM spin fluctuations.  相似文献

We report ac susceptibility measurements of polycrystalline CePt(3)Si down to 60 mK and in applied fields up to 9 T. In a zero applied field, a full Meissner state emerges at temperatures T/T(c) < 0.3, where T(c) = 0.65 K is the onset transition temperature. Though transport measurements show a relatively high upper critical field B(c2) approximately 4-5 T, the low-temperature susceptibility chi(') is quite fragile to the applied field, with chi(') diminishing rapidly in fields of a few kG. Interestingly, the field dependence of chi(') is well described by the power law 4pichi(') + 1 = (B/B(c))(1/2), where B(c) is the field at which the onset of resistance is observed in transport measurements.  相似文献

High-resolution photoemission study of MgB2   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We have performed high-resolution photoemission spectroscopy on MgB2 and observed opening of a superconducting gap with a narrow coherent peak. We found that the superconducting gap is s like with the gap value ( Delta) of 4.5+/-0.3 meV at 15 K. The temperature dependence (15-40 K) of the gap value follows well the BCS form, suggesting that 2Delta/k(B)T(c) at T = 0 is about 3. No pseudogap behavior is observed in the normal state. The present results strongly suggest that MgB2 is categorized into a phonon-mediated BCS superconductor in the weak-coupling regime.  相似文献

To elucidate the nature of the superconducting ground state of the geometrically frustrated pyrochlore KOs2O6 (Tc=9.6 K), the thermal conductivity was measured down to low temperatures (approximately Tc/100). We found that the quasiparticle mean free path is strikingly enhanced below a transition at Tp=7.8 K, indicating enormous electron inelastic scattering in the normal state. In magnetic fields, the conduction at T-->0 K is nearly constant up to approximately 0.4Hc2, in contrast with the rapid growth expected for superconductors with an anisotropic gap. This unambiguously indicates a fully gapped superconductivity, in contrast with previous studies. These results highlight that KOs2O6 is unique among superconductors with strong electron correlations.  相似文献

Two new gapless quantum spin-liquid candidates with S = 1 (Ni(2+)) moments: the 6H-B phase of Ba(3)NiSb(2)O(9) with a Ni(2+)-triangular lattice and the 3C phase with a Ni(2/3)Sb(1/3)-three-dimensional edge-shared tetrahedral lattice were obtained under high pressure. Both compounds show no magnetic order down to 0.35 K despite Curie-Weiss temperatures θ(CW) of -75.5 (6H-B) and -182.5 K (3C), respectively. Below ~25 K, the magnetic susceptibility of the 6H-B phase saturates to a constant value χ(0) = 0.013 emu/mol, which is followed below 7 K by a linear-temperature-dependent magnetic specific heat (C(M)) displaying a giant coefficient γ = 168 mJ/mol K(2). Both observations suggest the development of a Fermi-liquid-like ground state. For the 3C phase, the C(M) perpendicular T(2) behavior indicates a unique S = 1, 3D quantum spin-liquid ground state.  相似文献

We report muon spin rotation measurements on the S=1/2 (Cu2+) paratacamite ZnxCu4-x(OH)6Cl2 family. Despite a Weiss temperature of approximately -300 K, the x=1 compound is found to have no transition to a magnetic frozen state down to 50 mK as theoretically expected for the kagomé Heisenberg antiferromagnet. We find that the limit between a dynamical and a partly frozen ground state occurs around x=0.5. For x=1, we discuss the relevance to a singlet picture.  相似文献
