The critical behaviour of axially anisotropicn-vector models is characterized by two distinct length scales, the correlation lengths and for the easy and hard axes. In order to handle the full range of anisotropics from to partial differential renormalization group equations are derived, depending on and . The anisotropicX-Y model is studied in detail near four dimensions. The crossover scaling functions for the susceptibilities are calculated to first order in=4–d. Two distinct crossover regions are found for weak and dominant anisotropy, respectively.  相似文献

We investigate propagation of perturbations of equilibrium states for a wide class of 1D interacting particle systems. The class of systems considered incorporates zero range, K-exclusion, misanthropic, bricklayers models, and much more. We do not assume attractivity of the interactions. We apply Yau's relative entropy method rather than coupling arguments. The result is partial extension of T. Seppäläinen's recent paper. For 0<<1/5 fixed, we prove that, rescaling microscopic space and time by N, respectively N 1+ , the macroscopic evolution of perturbations of microscopic order N of the equilibrium states is governed by Burgers' equation. The same statement should hold for 0<<1/2 as in Seppäläinen's cited paper, but our method does not seem to work for 1/5.  相似文献

In the special type of the quark model we obtain the ratio=h A/hV of the axial (hA) and vector (hV) form factors for the decays e ¯ve and K e¯ve different from unity. The low-energy theorem, relating the electric polarizability of the charged pion with the ratio, is analyzed. It is shown that < 1 corresponds to , calculated by accounting the contribution of the scalar meson(700) into the amplitude of the Compton effect on the pion. We study the spectral properties of the Floquet operator for the periodically kicked HamiltonianH(t) =H 0+ + (tnT),H 0 being self-adjoint and pure point. We show that the Floquet operator is pure point for almost every , if is cyclic forH 0 and has absolutely convergent expansion in the basis of eigenstates ofH 0. When this last condition is not satisfied, the Floquet operator can have a continuous spectrum, as we show by an example.  相似文献

We employ a basic formalism from convex analysis to show a simple relation between the entanglement of formation EF and the conjugate function E* of the entanglement function E()=S(TrA). We then consider the conjectured strong superadditivity of the entanglement of formation EF()EF(I)+EF(II), where I and II are the reductions of to the different Hilbert space copies, and prove that it is equivalent with subadditivity of E*. Furthermore, we show that strong superadditivity would follow from multiplicativity of the maximal channel output purity for quantum filtering operations, when purity is measured by Schatten p-norms for p tending to 1.  相似文献

Electrical and optical properties and Fermi level stabilization are studied in GaP crystals irradiated by electrons (E2.2 MeV, D1·1019 cm–2) and H+ ions (E5 MeV, D1.7·1016 cm–2). It is shown that the limiting position of the Fermi level (FlimEG/2±0.2 eV) is independent of the initial GaP parameters and the type of bombarding particle, but is determined by the condition of local neutrality of the defective GaP. Resistivity values for the irradiated specimens of max(D)1·1013 ·cm were obtained at 300 K. At maximum integral particle fluxes a decrease in crystal resistivity to (3–6)·109 ·cm was observed. The readjustment of GaP absorption spectra in the region hvEG upon irradiation is related to recharging of gap states by radiation defects upon motion of the Fermi level toward Flim.Translated from Izvestiya Vysshikh Uchebnykh Zavedenii, Fizika, No. 12, pp. 37–42, December, 1994.  相似文献

Preliminary results are presented for a survey of J=1–012CO emission being carried out at 3 arc intervals along the southern galactic plane in the range 294°358°, –0°.075b0°.075. The longitude-velocity distribution shows well-defined terminal velocities, and is similar to the distribution at corresponding longitudes north of the galactic centre. However, the radial distribution of CO suggests that the southern CO, while concentrated inside the solar circle as in the north, is on the average located about 500 pc further from the galactic centre. Limited estimates of cloud sizes and masses suggest ranges greater than those deduced in previous surveys.On leave from University of British Columbia Vancouver, B.C.  相似文献

The symmetric simple exclusion process where infinitely many particles move randomly on , jump with equal probability on nearest-neighbor sites, and interact by simple exclusion is considered. It is known that the only extremal invariant measures are Bernoulli, that each measure, in a suitable class, after a macroscopic time is locally described, at a zero-order approximation, by a Bernoulli measure with parameter depending on macroscopic space and time, and that the so-defined equilibrium profile satisfies the heat equation. Small deviations from local equilibrium in the hydrodynamical limit are investigated. It is proven, under suitable assumptions, that at first order the state is Gibbs with one- and two-body potentials whose strength depends only on macroscopic space and time and on the equilibrium profile. More precisely, the one-body potential is linear (on the microscopic positions of the particles) and proportional to the macroscopic space gradient of the equilibrium parameter at that time, so that Fourier law holds. The two-body potential varies on a macroscopic scale and does not depend on the microscopic positions of the particles; it is given by the value of the covariance of the Gaussian macroscopic density fluctuation field.  相似文献

A quasi-linear regression formula is derived by an expansion around quasi-static equilibrium. It relates the relaxation of thermodynamic forces to the regression of correlations of thermodynamic coordinates in quasi-static equilibrium. Correlation functions and memory kernels can be introduced in almost complete analogy to linear response theory. A non-linear, non-Markovian kinetic equation is derived. The kinetic coefficients are given in terms of correlation functions of stochastic forces in quasi-static equilibrium similar to the linear theory.  相似文献

The spectral weight function associated with the vibrational modes of a two-dimensional quasicrystal is studied numerically. It is found that plane waves corresponding to special symmetry points in reciprocal space are at least very nearly eigenstates of the system. Near periodicities in lineshape parameters plotted as a function of wavevector are found to occur, and the first Brillouin zone edge is identified with lattice parameters. The contribution of these modes to the specific heat is found to obey a two-dimensional Debye Law.  相似文献

This paper completes the proof of the necessity of spherical symmetry in the static general-relativistic stellar models that have equations of state satisfying certain inequalities. The technical assumption — that there exists a reference spherical stellar model — that was essential in the previous discussions of this problem is removed. This paper also extends beyond previous discussions the class of equations of state included in the proof. The analysis of the equations for spherical stellar models, used here to demonstrate the existence of a reference spherical model, may also be of independent interest.  相似文献

The transition between two canted phases in YbIG atH 100 is examined in the framework of the model with one saturated Fe-sublattice and six sublattices of mutually independent Yb ions. In particular, the equations determining the continuous transition point and the coexistence line of these canted phases are derived. The existence of a zero frequency mode in this second order transition point is clear from this analysis, too. The analogy with the classical theory of the liquid-vapour-like phase transition, as well as the limits of the mean field approach are discussed.  相似文献

We investigate the existence, properties and approach to stationary non-equilibrium states of infinite harmonic crystals. For classical systems these stationary states are, like the Gibbs states, Gaussian measures on the phase space of the infinite system (analogues results are true for quantum systems). Their ergodic properties are the same as those of the equilibrium states: e.g. for ordered periodic crystals they are Bernoulli. Unlike the equilibrium states however they are not stable towards perturbations in the potential.We are particularly concerned here with states in which there is a non-vanishing steady heat flux passing through every point of the infinite system. Such superheat-conducting states are of course only possible in systems in which Fourier's law does not hold: the perfect harmonic crystal being an example of such a system. For a one dimensional system, we find such states (explicitely) as limits, whent, of time evolved initial states i in which the left and right parts of the infinite crystal are in equilibrium at different temperatures, L L R –1 , and the middle part is in an arbitrary state. We also investigate the limit of these stationary (t) states as the coupling strength between the system and the reservoirs goes to zero. In this limit we obtain a product state, where the reservoirs are in equilibrium at temperatures L –1 and R –1 and the system is in the unique stationary state of the reduced dynamics in the weak coupling limit.On leave of absence from the Fachbereich Physik der Universität München. In type-II superconductors in the flux flow (J J c ), flux creep (J c J c ), and thermally activated flux flow (TAFF) (J J c ) regimes the inductionB(r,t), averaged over several penetration depths , in general follows from a nonlinear equation of motion into which enter the nonlinear resistivities (B, J ,T) caused by flux motion and (B, J ,T) caused by other dissipative processes.J andJ are the current densities perpendicular and parallel toB,B=|B|, andT is the temperature. For flux flow and TAFF in isotropic superconductors with weak relative spatial variation ofB, this equation reduces to the diffusion equation plus a correction term which vanishes whenJ =0 (this means B××B=0) or when = 0 (isotropic normal conductor). When this diffusion equation holds the material anisotropy may be accounted for by a tensorial . The response of a superconductor to an applied current or to a change of the applied magnetic field is considered for various geometries. Such perturbations affect only a surface layer of thickness where a shielding current flows which pulls at the flux lines; the resulting deformation of the vortex lattice diffuses into the interior until a new equilibrium or a new stationary state is reached. The a.c. response, in particular the frequency with maximum damping, depends thus on the geometry and size of the superconductor.  相似文献

The low-friction region of an anharmonically bound Brownian particle is examined using systematic elimination procedures. We obtain an asymptotic expression for the spectrum of the Fokker-Planck operator. Asymptotic means both small anharmonicities and small friction constants compared to the oscillatory frequency . We conclude that Kramers' low-friction equation is generally valid only for 0<0.01 and has to be modified for 0.01 by including phase-dependent terms. From these the nonlinear part of the force field in connection with a finite temperature is shown to shorten the correlation time of the equilibrium velocity autocorrelation function and to renormalize the frequency of the corresponding spectral density.  相似文献

Two classes ofn-dimensional lattice sums are shown to exhibit a weak form of a phase transition in their asymptotic properties. Both classes depend on two parameters such that the leading term in an asymptotic limit of one parameter is independent of the structure of the lattice in one domain of the second parameter and dependent on the structure in an adjacent domain, with a boundary point, or transition temperature, between the two domains.  相似文献

Finite segments of infinite chains of classical coupled harmonic oscillators are treated as models of thermodynamic systems in contact with a heat bath, i.e., canonical ensembles. The Liouville function for the infinite chain is reduced by integrating over the outside variables to a function N of the variables of theN-particle segment that is the thermodynamic system. The reduced Liouville function N which is calculated from the dynamics of the infinite chain and the statistical knowledge of the coordinates and momenta att = 0, is a time-dependent probability density in the 2N-dimensional phase space of the system. A Gibbs entropy defined in terms of N measures the evolution of knowledge of the system (more accurately, the growth of missing pertinent information) in the sense of information theory. As ¦t ¦ , energy is equipartitioned, the entropy evolves to the value expected from equilibrium statistical mechanics, and N evolves to an equilibrium distribution function. The simple chain exhibits diffusion in coordinate space, i.e., Brownian motion, and the diffusivity is shown to depend only on the initial distribution of momenta (not of coordinates) in the heat bath. The harmonically bound chain, in the limit of weak coupling, serves as an excellent model for the approach to equilibrium of a canonical ensemble of weakly interacting particles.  相似文献

A cluster of two atoms described by thes-f model with Coulomb repulsion has been considered. The interaction between localized 4f electrons (S=1/2) is taken in the molecular field approximation. The thermodynamic quantities like magnetization, specific heat and correlation functions n , n , S z n , S z n , S z (n n ), n n and S + a + a as functions of temperature are presented for different band fillingN=0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2. The dependence of Curie temperature onN is calculated. The phase diagram forN=1 (T=0K) shows the possibility of existence of two phases: paramagnetic and ferromagnetic.The Curie temperature and the specific heat as functions ofN exhibit similar trends as found in experiments on doped magnetic semiconductors.  相似文献

The specific heat of Fermi–Pasta–Ulam systems has until now been estimated through the energy fluctuations of a suitable subsystem, and opposite answers were apparently provided concerning its possible vanishing for vanishing temperatures. In the present paper a more realistic numerical implementation of the specific heat measurement is discussed, which mimics the interaction of the FPU system with a calorimeter. It is found that there exists a freezing critical temperature below which the relaxation times to equilibrium between FPU system and calorimeter become relevant, so that the system presents aging and hysteresis features very similar to those familiar in glasses and spin glasses. In particular, in the framework of such a point of view involving finite long times, the specific heat appears to vanish for vanishing temperatures.  相似文献

A model is described which has been used in theoretical studies of a variety of phenomena (which are briefly summarized) relating to biological membranes. It is shown that the Hamiltonian describing this model can be mapped onto an Ising Hamiltonian with a temperature dependent field. It is also shown that this field varies linearly with temperature in the critical region. Exact solutions of this model are presented and its first and second order transitions are discussed with an emphasis on obtaining its critical indices. General considerations lead to the following relations: =1/, =, =, where , , , are the critical indices for the specific heat, magnetization, susceptibility and critical isotherm respectively (the primes denoting low temperature indices). These relations are demonstrated explicitly for the Bethe lattice with coordination numbersq=2 and 6.  相似文献
