提出了一种基于谐振吸收效应的单模单偏振光子晶体光纤,阐述了其工作原理,并利用全矢量有限元法对其模场分布、限制损耗、工作带宽、消光比等基本特性进行了数值模拟. 数值结果表明这种结构可以获得很高的单模单偏振工作带宽,并能以较低的损耗代价实现极高的消光比.讨论了结构设计参量对光纤性能的影响.研究结果对设计新型的高性能单模单偏振光纤具有一定的指导意义.  相似文献

A novel single-mode single-polarization (SMSP) photonic crystal fibre has been proposed and analysed based on the polarization-dependent coupling and absorption effect via a full-vector finite element method with perfectly matched layers. The numerical results predict that very efficient SMSP operation can be achieved with both high bandwidth and high extinction ratio at low loss penalty. Effects of the fibre structural parameters on the SMSP bandwidth and extinction ratio have been explored, which will provide useful guide for the design and fabrication of the fibre. The results obtained will be instructive for the realization of new SMSP fibres with high performance.  相似文献

传统的THz单模单偏振光纤大部分都是基于实芯光纤设计的,增加了THz波的传输损耗。最近几年,也有一些关于空芯THz单模单偏振光纤的报道。但是,他们的带宽太窄,往往只能在单一频率附近工作,影响了单偏振器件在THz范围内的使用价值和技术优势。为了解决这些问题,设计了一种新颖结构的空芯THz单模单偏振器件。它拥有超过0.1 THz的带宽,工作频率范围从1.63 THz到1.73 THz。这种器件对于THz通信网络的建设和应用具有重要意义。  相似文献

Based on the index-induced mode coupling between the higher-order mode in core and the fundamental mode in cladding tubes, the single-mode operation can be realized in any antiresonant fibers (ARFs) when satisfying that the area ratio of cladding tube and core is about 0.46:1, and this area ratio also should be modified according to the shape and the number of cladding tubes. In the ARF with nodal core boundary, the mode in core also can couple with the mode in the wall of core boundary, which can further enhance the suppression of high-order mode. Accordingly, an ARF with conjoint semi-elliptical cladding tubes realizes a loss of higher-order mode larger than 30 dB/m; simultaneously, a loss of fundamental mode loss less than 0.4 dB/m.  相似文献

We report a novel design of photonic crystal fiber (PCF) with a rectangular array of four closely-spaced, highly elliptical air holes in the core region and a circular-air-hole cladding. The proposed PCF is able to support ultra-wideband single-polarization single-mode (SPSM) transmission from the visible band to the near infrared band. With the aid of the inner cladding formed by the central air holes, one polarization of the fundamental mode can be cut off at very short wavelengths and ultra-wideband SPSM propagation can be achieved. The inner cladding also suppresses the higher order modes and allows large air filling fraction in the outer cladding while the proposed fiber remains SPSM, which significantly reduces the mode effective area and the confinement loss. Our simulation results indicate that the proposed PCF has a 1540 nm SMSP range with <0.25 dB/km confinement loss and an effective area of 2.2 μm2. Moreover, the group velocity dispersion (GVD) of the proposed PCF can also be tuned to be flat and near zero at the near infrared band (∼800 nm) by optimizing the outer cladding structure, potentially enabling many nonlinear applications.  相似文献

We present the single-mode single-polarization regime of a circular-hole holey fiber consisting of a core with large elliptical holes. The elliptical holes in the core, which produce large anisotropies, split the fundamental mode into two orthogonally polarized fundamental modes, often referred to as slow and fast modes. This fiber can guide only one polarization state of the fundamental mode when a fundamental space-filling mode index of the cladding region is designed to lie between these indices of the slow and fast modes of the core region. We demonstrate one design example of this fiber and show that the single-polarization regime can be achieved over a wide wavelength range.  相似文献

The theoretical calculation method of multilayer metal-clad planar optical waveguide presented by Y. YAMAMOTO is greatly improved and transplant into the optical fiber and a suitable waveguide model of in-line single-mode optical fiber polarizer is set up to study its characteristics, the theorical analyses are in accordance with the experimental re suits. The polarizer whose extinction ratio is more than 30 dB at 0.633μm wavelength with an insertion loss of 0.5 dB is formed by grinding off the cladding on one side of a single-mode fibre and evaporating metal onto the polished durface in our Lab.  相似文献

Tapered fiber based ring resonators are fabricated and its optical characteristic is investigated in detail. The ring resonator is fabricated by coiling the tapered fiber, which is firstly made by heating and stretching a piece of optical fiber, after the polymer protective cladding has been removed The comb filter with a constant free spectral range (FSR) and the maximum extinction ratio of 4.2 dB is achieved by a single-mode fiber based ring resonator. The FSR of ring resonator can be adjusted by controlling the diameter of the ring. The extinction ratio is improved in the polarization maintaining fiber based ring resonator where the maximum extinction ratio of 14 dB is achieved at 1531 nm region.  相似文献

试图理论上处理椭圆包层各向异性光纤复杂的折射率分布。数学过程包括折射率分布的级数展开、δ-涵数的导数和积分以及用格林函数求解方程的迭代技术。给出了椭圆包层各向异性光纤漏模损耗的解析表达式。数值结果表明椭圆包层各向异性光纤的漏模损耗比领结型光纤小,比阶跃型各向异性光纤大;偏心率越大越有利于制造单模单偏光纤。  相似文献

对一种光单边带传输系统用MATLAB进行了仿真,结果表明:在完全消光条件下,10Gb/s单边带信号在常规单模光纤传输可达140 km, 而双边带仅为70 km;消光比对双边带传输和单边带传输的影响是不一样的. 双边带传输消光比为10 dB就够了, 单边带传输消光比要在20 dB以上,只有消光比大于20 dB时单边带传输相对于双边带传输的优越性才逐渐呈现出来.  相似文献

Using the full-vector plane-wave expansion method, a kind of PMMA-based polarization-maintaining microstructured optical fibre (PM-mPOF) is theoretically studied. 研究了以单轴晶体为包层,纤芯为各向同性非均匀材料光纤的功率传输特性.在纤芯满足弱渐变条件的假定下,按矢量场法进行了分析.针对基模讨论了包层的轴向与横向的介电常量比τ对光纤截面上功率分布的影响.结果表明,τ对低频情况影响显著,而对高频情况则影响很小.当此种结构的光纤用做单模光纤时,选用τ较大的包层材料有利于提高传输效率.  相似文献

分析了光子晶体光纤拉制中各工艺参数之间的相互影响,建立了工艺参数与最终光纤结构之间的对应关系.在温度和送料速度的协调控制下,通过调节气压参数可有效控制气孔结构.实验拉制出孔径孔距比分别为0.45和0.8的单模以及高占空比光子晶体光纤.在制备非均匀孔径光子晶体光纤时,仅靠调控工艺参数往往难以拉制出理想结构,本文以一种单偏振单模PCF结构为例,对预制棒结构进行了优化设计.计算表明可由此拉制出满足要求的光子晶体光纤. 关键词: 光子晶体光纤 工艺参数 气压控制 气孔结构  相似文献

对芯层为负折射率介质,敷层为普通介质的光纤的导模进行了研究,并对芯层与敷层介电常数比值(ξ)和磁导率比值(η)变化对导模色散特征的影响进行分析.分析表明负折射率光纤具有许多不同于常规光纤的反常特征,如存在表面波模,存在TM00模和TE00模以及存在多个单模传输模式和单模传输区间等.同时对负折射率介质光纤的单模传输条件进行了分析,发现单模传输模式和传输区间随ξ和η的不同而改变.  相似文献

We propose a leaky channel waveguide structure for large-mode-area single-mode operation. The proposed structure is characterized by a uniform rectangular core and a specially designed cladding, through which all the confined modes are leaky. Single-mode operation is ensured by choosing the waveguide parameters properly so that the differential leakage loss between the first two modes is sufficiently high. A general power-law cladding geometry profile is considered, which is solved by the effective-index method in conjunction with the transfer-matrix-method to obtain the effective indices and leakage losses of the modes. We show that, with a suitable choice of cladding parameters, the waveguide can demonstrate extended single-mode operation in the wavelength range 750–1600 nm with a core area as large as 100 μm2. Such a large confinement area for mode propagation can effectively suppress nonlinear optical effects. A method of fabricating colloidal crystal microstructured fiber is presented. The proposed structure relies on partial etching of the cladding layer of a single-mode fiber and growth of colloidal photonic crystals inside eroded area. The photonic crystal cylindrical annulus embedded in fiber is characterized by optical and scanning electron microscopy. The optical characterization was analyzed by optical transmission spectroscopy. The measurement results show a about 1550-nm band gap. The results also reveal the possibility of cladding cylindrical fibers with three-dimensional photonic crystals.  相似文献

根据光纤模式传输理论,结合单模锥形光纤的结构,使用有限差分光束传播法(FD-BPM)仿真了1 550 nm波长下光纤模式的传输,分析包层内模场和纤芯内模场之间的相互影响。仿真结果表明:因为包层模的存在,随着包层内模式数的减少和纤芯对模场约束状态的变化,锥形光纤纤芯内不同区域模场分布变化明显,模场的均方根宽度在不同区域有不同程度的起伏。通过数值计算得到了光纤内模场能量的分布,发现因为包层模的存在,纤芯内模场能量减小速度比没有包层模时的速度要慢。  相似文献

A simple single-polarization single-mode (SPSM) photonic crystal fiber (PCF) coupler with two cores is introduced. The full-vector finite-element method (FEM) is applied to analyze the modal interference phenomenon of the even and odd modes of two orthogonal polarizations and the power propagation within the two cores. Meanwhile, the SPSM coupling wavelength range and its corresponding coupling length for different structure parameters are numerically analyzed. The numerical results show that SPSM coupling can be realized with a broad range of wavelength, and the coupling length can be of millimeter magnitude. Moreover, the SPSM coupling wavelength range and the coupling length can be optimized by designing proper mirco-structure parameters of the coupler.  相似文献

We present an all-fiber design for a single polarization Yb-doped fiber laser with all-fiber connections spliced. Single polarization with a high extinction ratio was achieved by the design of a laser cavity consisting of a fiber Bragg grating inscribed on a single-polarization fiber as a high reflective mirror and a piece of end-cleaved single-polarization fiber as an output coupler. The fiber laser operates at 1063.25 nm with an output power of 1.7 W, an optical signal- to-noise ratio of 70 dB and a narrow bandwidth of 54 pm. The laser output has a polarization extinction ratio of 700:1 or 28 dB, and a very stable power output.  相似文献
