Nuclear fission accompanied by long-range alpha particles has been investigated. Fission was induced by irradiating a natural uranium target with 13.5 MeV deuterons. The alpha energy and angular distributions are similar to those observed in spontaneous or thermal neutron induced fission. The correlation angle between alpha particles and light fission fragments has a most probable value of \(\bar \vartheta _{l f - \alpha } = 82.1^\circ \pm 0.9^\circ \) and a dispersion (FWHM) of Δ?=18.4°±1.2°. The mean value and dispersion of the energy distribution are \(\bar {\rm E}_\alpha = 14.8 \pm 1.0 MeV\) and ΔE=9.1±1.2 MeV (FWHM), respectively. The peak-to-valley ratio of the ternary fission fragment mass distribution is found to increase with increasing alpha energy. For near-symmetric mass division, a strong broadening of the angular distribution is observed. The results are discussed in the frame of a multichannel-fission model.  相似文献

New experimental results are presented on inclusive production properties of \(\bar \Sigma ^{ * + } \) (1385) and \(\bar \Sigma ^{ * + } \) (1385) inK + p interactions at 32 GeV/c. The analysis is based on significantly larger statistics than previously available. A comparison is also made of invariantx-distributions ofK 0/ \(\bar K^0 \) , \(\bar \Lambda \) and \(\bar \Xi ^ + \) and of \(\bar \Sigma ^{ * \pm } \) (1385) andK *+(892). These spectra exhibit regularities expected from the quark-recombination picture when it is assumed that the strange mesons and antibaryons are produced off the strange \(\bar s\) -valence-quark in the incidentK + meson. Transverse momentum distributions are also presented forK *+(892) and \(\bar \Sigma ^{ * \pm } \) (1385) and found to be very similar. The results on strange antibaryon average multiplicities disagree strongly with a recent version of the additive quark model.  相似文献

CP violation in partial-decay-rate asymmetries are examined for some two-body baryonic decays of \(B_d^0 - \bar B_d^0 \) system. We discuss two feasible experimental circumstances: the symmetrice + e ? collisions (i) on theZ 0 resonance to produce incoherent \(B_d^0 \bar B_d^0 \) states, and (ii) just above the ?(4S) resonance to produceC=even \(B_d^0 \bar B_d^0 \) states. Using the quark-diagram scheme, we estimate the branching ratios of those decays, and the numbers ofb \(\bar b\) pairs needed for testing theCP-violating effects for 3σ signature. We find that the promising channels may beB d 0 , \(\bar B_d^0 \to p\bar p\) , \(\Delta ^ + \bar \Delta ^ - \) , \(p\bar \Delta ^ - \) , \(\Delta ^ + \bar p\) , \(n\bar n\) , \(\Delta ^0 \bar \Delta ^0 \) , \(n\bar \Delta ^0 \) , \(\Delta ^0 \bar n\) , \(\Sigma _c^ + \bar \Sigma _c^ - \) , \(\Lambda _c^ + \bar \Lambda _c^ - \) , \(\Sigma _c^ + \bar \Lambda _c^ - \) , \(\Lambda _c^ + \bar \Sigma _c^ - \) , \(\Sigma _c^0 \bar \Sigma _c^0 \) , \(\Xi _c^0 \bar \Xi _c^0 \) , which should be interesting for experimental observation.  相似文献

In this paper the theoretical parameters of theZ line shape, such asM Z andΓ Z, and the one photon exchange diagram are related to a set of parameters characterizing the experimental line shape. The latter are the peak height σmax, peak position \(\sqrt {s_{\max } } \) and half peak positions \(\sqrt {s_ \pm } \) . The rules of thumb are accurate within 10 MeV. As a result we obtain approximate formulae which expressM Z and ΓZ in the measured \(\sqrt {s_{\max } } \) and \(\sqrt {s_ + } - \sqrt {s_ - } \) .  相似文献

In an experiment at the CERN-SPS charged hyperon beam, we have investigated the inclusive \(\Lambda \bar K^0 \) and \(\Sigma ^0 \bar K^0 \) final states formed in Ξ? Be interactions. In the \(\Lambda \bar K^0 \) channel, we observe a signal at 1826 MeV/c2 which can be identified with the known Ξ(1820) resonance. We determine its mass and width to be:M=1826±4 MeV/c2, Г=12±14 MeV/c2. A moment analysis is consistent with a spin of 3/2 and indicates a negative parity for this spin assignment. Also in the \(\Lambda \bar K^0 \) channel, we observe a 3.6σ signal with the following parameters:M=1963±5 MeV/c2, Г=25±15 MeV/c2. This state, which we call Ξ(1960), is not observed in the \(\Sigma ^0 \bar K^0 \) channel, leading to an upper limit on the ratio of partial widths \(\Sigma \bar K/\Lambda \bar K\) of 2.3 (90% confidence level). A moment analysis of the \(\Lambda \bar K^0 \) final state indicates a spin of 5/2 or greater in the natural spin-parity series 5/2+, 7/2?, etc.  相似文献

A non-relativistic quark model is used to calculate the decay widths of baryonium states to \(N\bar N,N\bar \Delta \) , \(N\bar N,N\bar \Delta \) and \(\Delta \bar \Delta \) . Large widths are found and used to estimate the \(\bar pp\) and \(\bar pn\) elastic cross-sections. The couplings of baryonium states to two identical mesons are also investigated.  相似文献

The process \(\pi ^0 \to \lambda _\gamma \bar \lambda _\gamma \) is investigated as an alternative to \(\pi ^0 \to v\bar v\) . It is shown that the experimental bound on the branching fraction for missing energy (in the form of \(\lambda _\gamma \bar \lambda _\gamma \) and/or \(v\bar v\) ) may be understood in terms of \(\pi ^0 \to \lambda _\gamma \bar \lambda _\gamma \) for the kinematically allowed photino mass, if the squark mass is >8 GeV.  相似文献

The asymmetry parameters \(\alpha _{\beta ^ \mp } \) of the beta-ray emitted from aligned12B and12N are evaluated as a function of the energy. The agreement with experimental differential data is excellent for both \(\alpha _{\beta ^ - } \) (W) and \(\alpha _{\beta ^ + } \) (W). This work confirms, using available nuclear model information, that no induced pseudotensor (IPT) interaction is required for a correct theoretical interpretation of the data. An upper limit for the IPT coupling constantf T is determined from a simultaneous fit of \(\alpha _{\beta ^ - } \) (W) and \(\alpha _{\beta ^ + } \) (W).  相似文献

The Isgur-Wise functions for the ground state to ground state semileptonic decays involvingb→c transitions are calculated from the (modified) MIT bag model. It is checked that the results for the decays \(\bar B \to Dl\bar v\) and \(\bar B \to D^* l\bar v\) agree well with experiment. Predictions for the decays \(\Lambda _b \to \Lambda _c l\bar v,\bar B_s \to D_s^* l\bar v\) and \(\bar B_s \to D_s^* l\bar v\) are given and discussed.  相似文献

Consequences of the existence of an invariant (necessarily indefinite) non-degenerate inner product for an indecomposable representation π of a groupG on a space \(\mathfrak{H}\) are studied. If π has an irreducible subrepresentation π1 on a subspace \(\mathfrak{H}_1 \) , it is shown that there exists an invariant subspace \(\mathfrak{H}_2 \) of \(\mathfrak{H}\) containing \(\mathfrak{H}_1 \) and satisfying the following conditions: (1) the representation π 1 # =π mod \(\mathfrak{H}_2 \) on \(\mathfrak{H}\) mod \(\mathfrak{H}_2 \) is conjugate to the representation (π1, \(\mathfrak{H}_1 \) ), (2) \(\mathfrak{H}_1 \) is a null space for the inner product, and (3) the induced inner product on \(\mathfrak{H}_2 \) mod \(\mathfrak{H}_1 \) is non-degenerate and invariant for the representation $$\pi _2 = (\pi _2 |_{\mathfrak{H}_2 } )\bmod \mathfrak{H}_1 ,$$ a special example being the Gupta-Bleuler triplet for the one-particle space of the free classical electromagnetic field with \(\mathfrak{H}_1 \) =space of longitudinal photons and \(\mathfrak{H}_2 \) =the space defined by the subsidiary condition.  相似文献

With a view to calculating the incompressibility \(\ddot \sigma \) of the nuclear surface, we develop a constrained Hartree-Fock treatment of semi-infinite nuclear matter. Our approach leads first to a proof of the “ \(\dot \sigma = 0\) ” theorem of Myers and Swiatecki, and then to a corroboration of a simple expression for \(\ddot \sigma \) , previously obtained in an intuitive way by Stocker. This expression is used to calculate \(\ddot \sigma \) for theS3, SkM and Gogny forces. The results are significantly different from those of a scaled HF calculation, but in very good agreement with the values of \(\ddot \sigma \) that are implied by RPA calculations of the breathing mode in various finite nuclei.  相似文献

A new formulation of effective potential for local composite operators is given. The two-fermion condensate \(\langle \bar \Psi \Psi \rangle \) and four-fermion condensate \(\langle \bar \Psi \Psi \bar \Psi \Psi \rangle \) are calculated simultaneously in the Gross-Neveu model up to next-to-the-leading order in 1/N expansion. It is shown that factorization \(\langle \bar \Psi \Psi \bar \Psi \Psi \rangle = C_1 \langle \bar \Psi \Psi \rangle ^2 \) holds only in theN→∞ limit and the non-factorized part of \(\langle \bar \Psi \Psi \bar \Psi \Psi \rangle \) contributed by the order-1/N terms is comparable to \(C_1 \langle \bar \Psi \Psi \rangle ^2 \) when takingN=3.  相似文献

We study \(e^ + e^ - \to \tilde e^ + \tilde e^ - \) together with \(\tilde e^ \pm \) decay emphasizing the importance of neutralino mixing in thet-channel at energies above theZ 0 resonance. We interpret the recently observedU(3.1) mesons with the \(\Lambda \bar p\) + pions decays as the bound state of \(\Lambda ,\bar p\) andX 0(1480). TheX 0(1480) is a mesonium with \(Q^2 \bar Q^2 \) structures observed in γγ reactions and \(\bar pn\) annihilations. With this interpretation, we can understand its decay modes. Furthermore, we predict the ratio of \(\sigma (\Lambda \bar p\pi ^ + \pi ^ - )/\sigma (\Lambda \bar p\pi ^ + \pi ^ + )\) to be ?3.1 for centrally produced events and that the width of \(U^ - (\Lambda \bar p\pi ^ + \pi ^ - )\) to be greater than that of \(U^ + (\Lambda \bar p\pi ^ + \pi ^ + )\) . Both predictions seem to be in reasonable accord with the available data. We call for the detection of the \(\Lambda \bar p\pi ^ - \pi ^ - \) mode to verify the present interpretation.  相似文献

We calculate, exactly, the next-to-leading correction to the relation between the \(\overline {MS} \) quark mass, \(\bar m\) , and the scheme-independent pole mass,M, and obtain $$\begin{gathered} \frac{M}{{\bar m(M)}} \approx 1 + \frac{4}{3}\frac{{\bar \alpha _s (M)}}{\pi } + \left[ {16.11 - 1.04\sum\limits_{i = 1}^{N_F - 1} {(1 - M_i /M)} } \right] \hfill \\ \cdot \left( {\frac{{\bar \alpha _s (M)}}{\pi }} \right)^2 + 0(\bar \alpha _s^3 (M)), \hfill \\ \end{gathered} $$ as an accurate approximation forN F?1 light quarks of massesM i <M. Combining this new result with known three-loop results for \(\overline {MS} \) coupling constant and mass renormalization, we relate the pole mass to the \(\overline {MS} \) mass, \(\bar m\) (μ), renormalized at arbitrary μ. The dominant next-to-leading correction comes from the finite part of on-shell two-loop mass renormalization, evaluated using integration by parts and checked by gauge invariance and infrared finiteness. Numerical results are given for charm and bottom \(\overline {MS} \) masses at μ=1 GeV. The next-to-leading corrections are comparable to the leading corrections.  相似文献

We show how data on \(\bar B \to M\tau \bar v\) can be used to probe models for the hadronic form-factors which describe the \(\bar B \to M\) transition, whereM isD,D * etc. Extra form-factors contribute to \(\bar B \to M\tau \bar v\) , as compared to \(\bar B \to Me\bar v\) , and these may be studied by observing the polarisation of the outgoing τ. Model predictions for the decay rate and the τ polarisation are presented.  相似文献

The construction of a relativistic interacting local quantum field is given in two steps: first the classical nonlinear relativistic field theory is written down in terms of Poisson brackets, with initial conditions as canonical variables: next a representation of Poisson bracket Lie algebra by means of linear operators in the topological vector space is given and an explicit form of a local interacting relativistic quantum field \(\hat \Phi \) is obtained. The construction of asymptotic local relativistic fields \(\hat \Phi _{in} \) and \(\hat \Phi _{out} \) associated with \(\hat \Phi \) is also given.  相似文献

The CNDO/S method has been applied to the internal effect of Si on the electronic spectrum of the acetone molecule; there is a considerable bathochromic shift and an increase in the \(S_0 \to S_{n\pi ^ * } \) intensity for theα-silyl ketones, while theβ-silyl ketons give only an increase in the intensity of \(S_0 \to S_{n\pi ^ * } \) absorption relative to acetone. The heavy atom substantially alters \(f_{S_0 \to T_{n\sigma ^* } } \) and \(\tau _{T_{n\sigma ^* } }^0 \) but has little effect on \(f_{S_0 \to T_{n\pi ^* } } \) and \(\tau _{T_{n\pi ^* } }^0 \) .  相似文献

Employing an X-ray interferometer the dispersion correction Δf′ of the forward atomic scattering amplitude \(f = z + \Delta f' + \Delta f''\) of Nickel is measured using CuK \(\bar \alpha \) -radiation. Since \(\lambda _{CuK\bar \alpha } /\lambda _{K - edge Ni} = 1.037 \approx 1\) a value of Δf′ close to theK-absorption edge is obtained. The result $$\Delta f\prime = - 1.45 \pm 7.6\% $$ is compared with experimental values by Doan, Kiessing and Lameris and Prins and also theoretical values by Hönl, Dauben and Templeton and Cromer. The present value is considerably smaller than all theoretical estimates. It is the most accurate value measured so far and-except for the value measured by Kiessing-aggrees with the other experimental values within their (comparatively large) error limits.  相似文献
