The blocking probability in wavelength-routed all optical networks is very important measure of performance of the network, which can be affected by many factors such as network topology, traffic load, number of links, algorithms employed and whether wavelength conversion is available or not. In this paper, we have proposed a mathematical model to reduce the blocking probability of the WDM optical network for wavelength-convertible networks. The model can be used to evaluate the blocking performance of any network topology also it can be useful to improve its blocking performance of the given network topology. The blocking probability variation of the network for a particular load (per link) has been studied based on the load variation and total number of wavelengths used in the network. Flexible grid optical networks have been attracting much attention for their high spectrum efficiency (SE) and flexibility compared to the rigid grid WDM networks. As well known, the networks suffer from the problem of spectrum fragmentation under dynamic traffic. In this paper, we propose a new concept called ‘fragment fusion degree (FFD)’ to assess the level of spectrum fragmentation in flexible grid optical networks, which is calculated based on the availability of the spectrum fragments among neighboring links. Two FFD based dynamic defragmentation algorithms are presented to fuse the spectrum fragments among neighboring links. Simulation results show that the proposed defragmentation algorithms reduce blocking probability significantly and achieve high profitability.  相似文献

In this paper we carry out the performance analysis of traffic groomed multilayer optical networks. It is seen that the number of wavelength channels required decreases as the wavelength grooming factor increases. We have evaluated blocking probability for different load and grooming factor. The performance of the network has been evaluated for different conditions; first for fixed number of links with grooming factor set to 3 and subsequently with increase in grooming factor up to 18 in steps. The load on each link is selected as 2, 5, 9, 12, 15 and 20 Erlangs and the blocking probability as function of number of optical channels has been evaluated. In this work the effect of number of wavelength channels, traffic load and grooming factor on network blocking probability has been studied. The investigation reveals that the blocking probability decreases with increase in wavelength channels. Similarly we found that the blocking probability increases with increase in traffic load which is quite evident. Further it is shown that when the grooming factor is increased to significant value (16), the number of wavelengths requirement (8) becomes relatively stable.  相似文献

The performance of GMPLS network depends upon the various parameters such as number of channels, number of sources, traffic intensity etc. In this paper we have proposed a call blocking model for mode of operation to determine the type of applications suitable for GMPLS networks. Further we have suggested a switch model for GMPLS network and developed a mathematical model for GMPLS network for call blocking probability and call holding probability. In proposed model blocking probability of the network is reduced and then the call blocking performance of the model is compared with the call holding performance.  相似文献

In this paper, we address the issue of faster connection establishment in a large vertically stacked optical Banyan (VSOB) network. The best known global routing algorithm, which turns an N × N crosstalk-free VSOB network into a rearrangeably non-blocking one, has time complexity O (NlogN). This is quite large compared to O (NlogN) time complexity of a single plane banyan network, which is a self-routing network with very high blocking probability. For a large size of switching network this O (NlogN) time complexity may result unacceptably long delay. Therefore, an optical network with very low blocking probability and O (NlogN) time complexity will be useful. Previously proposed Plane Fixed Routing (PFR) algorithm has O (logN) time complexity but results in higher than 2% blocking probability with zero-crosstalk constraint for a network as large as 4096 × 4096 at full load. In this paper, first we propose the pruning of VSOB networks that reduces the hardware cost by almost 30%. The networks can still use the PFR algorithm and results in the same blocking probability. However, we show that the blocking probability can be reduced dramatically while keeping the optimum time complexity O (logN) by allowing only a small amount of crosstalk. Then, we propose a new kind of switching networks in which extra regular banyan planes have been added with the pruned VBOS (P-VSOB) networks. Necessary routing algorithms, namely, PFR_RS and PFR_LS show that this new switching network can reduce the blocking probability to very low value even with zero-crosstalk constraint while keeping the hardware cost 3almost the same as for P-VSOB networks. Differential output-ports choosing probability (DOCP) scheme is a novel traffic outputting model for core router in optical burst switching (OBS) network. In this paper, we provide an analytical model for studying the performance of traffic blocking and delay in DOCP-applied OBS network. We first evaluate blocking probabilities using DOCP and confirm it by simulation. Then, in optical buffer-equipped OBS core router, we consider the average delay time for buffered traffic and the average total traffic queueing length in core router. The knowledge of delay performance is useful for the optical buffer architecture configuration in differential traffic scenario. Several results indicate that, under the same load condition, the blocking probabilities and the delay time will change along with the changeable ports choosing probability and the ratio between different length bursts in the OBS system.  相似文献

In this paper dynamic routing and wavelength assignment strategies have been proposed for multiclass WDM optical networks. Multiclass optical networks provide multiple classes of services to the subscriber according to the requirement, which in turn increase operational profitability. Each class of service could be characterized by parameters like number of wavelengths, expected call holding time and average arrival rate of request. The proposed strategies have been analyzed and compared with existing strategies on the basis of blocking probabilities for multiclass traffic scenarios. Simulation results on different network topologies demonstrate that the performance of proposed strategies “Fixed shortest/alternate shortest path routing with wavelength reservation (FSASWR)” and “Fixed alternate shortest path routing with least priority wavelength assignment (FASPL)” are much better as compared to existing strategies. Proposed strategies minimize blocking probability of the multiclass network using limited number of wavelengths.  相似文献

This paper proposes a dynamic routing, modulation level and spectrum allocation (RMLSA) scheme in the flexible optical wavelength-division multiplexing (FWDM) networks with modulation format conversion ability. The scheme considers the modulation format conversion at the intermediate nodes and addresses the fragmentation problem by avoiding appearance of them. The influence of routing to the emergence of the fragmentation is quantified, which is referenced to decide which one route of k-paths to use. Simulation results demonstrate efficient reductions in blocking rates and improvements in failure recovery rates for the scheme in the network.  相似文献

为了在光网络中建立连接,信令协议需要依次配置路径沿途节点上的光交叉矩阵完成.提出了一种高效的信令协议,使各节点的光交叉矩阵的切换过程并行完成,可在光网络中实现快速光路供给.在分布式离散时间仿真平台上所做出的深入仿真结果表明此信令协议能够获得比反向预留信令协议更好的网络性能,可获得更低的阻塞概率、更短的平均连接时间和最长连接时间,尽管可能付出了稍高一些的控制带宽的代价.  相似文献

Optical burst switching (OBS) aims at combining the strengths of packet and circuit switching and is considered as a promising technology for implementing the next generation optical Internet, required to cope with the rapid growth of Internet traffic and the increased deployment of new services. In this paper, an optimal burst assembly approach employing traffic shaping (OBATS) for OBS networks has been proposed in order to improve network performance in terms of reduced blocking probability, congestion control and better utilization of bandwidth. Particularly, the proposed scheme aims at reducing the average delay experienced by the packets during the burstification process in optical burst switched (OBS) networks, for a given average size of the bursts produced. Reducing the packet burstification delay, for a given average burst size, is essential for real-time applications; correspondingly, increasing the average burst size for a given packet burstification delay is important for reducing the number of bursts injected into the network and the associated overhead imposed on the core nodes. Simulation results show that the proposed burst assembly approach gives better network performance in terms of burst drop, resource contention and delay as compared to conventional burst assembly approaches.  相似文献

We consider the routing and wavelength assignment problem on wavelength division multiplexing networks without wavelength conversion. When the physical network and required connections are given, routing and wavelength assignment (RWA) is the problem to select a suitable path and wavelength among the many possible choices for each connection such that no two paths using the same wavelength pass through the same link. In wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) optical networks, there is need to maximize the number of connections established and to minimize the blocking probability using limited resources. In this paper, we have proposed three dynamic link weight assignment strategies that change the link weight according to the traffic. The performance of the existing trend and the proposed strategies is shown in terms of blocking probability. The simulation results show that all the proposed strategies perform better than the existing trend.  相似文献

Differentiated probability outputted scheme (DPOS) is an improved burst-outputted paradigm in optical burst switching (OBS) core routers. In this paper, the blocking performance for multi-priority traffic in a DPOS applied OBS core router with limited buffers has been analyzed and discussed firstly. Several simulation results indicted that DPOS had a better performance in blocking than the outputted model presented in the previous work had. Vertically stacked pruned optical banyan networks with extra planes (in short, EP-VSOB networks) have lower switch count and optimal time complexity (O(log2 N)) for routing N input requests. However, blocking probability is relatively higher than that of a VSOB networks using regular banyan planes. In the EP-VSOB architecture, the number of pruned planes has always been considered as , and a few extra planes (regular banyan) have been added with these pruned planes. In this paper we present the results of blocking analysis of a more generalized architecture in which the number of pruned planes can be 2x, where x ? 0 in addition to the variable extra planes. This generalization helps us make a compromise between different constraints and performance metrics. Our simulation results show that for some given performance requirements (e.g. cost, speed or blocking probability) we can choose a network that has lower switch count compared to -plane pruned crosstalk-free optical banyan networks. For example, to ensure blocking probability <0.02, previously we would chose a pruned network of 32 pruned planes and 1 extra planes (a regular banyan); however, our simulations results show that a network of 16 pruned planes and 2 extra planes is enough to ensure the same performance. It is notable that, the hardware cost decreases by 28.65% in this new combination of pruned and extra planes. We believe our results will provide more flexibility in choosing a particular EP-VSOB network satisfying given requirements.  相似文献

In this paper, the performance of cognitive radio (CR) code division multiple access (CDMA) networks is analyzed in the presence of receive beamforming at the base stations (BSs). More precisely, we analyze, through simulations, the performance achievable by a CR user, with and without spectrum sensing, in a three-cell scenario. Uplink communications are considered. Three different schemes for spectrum sensing with beamforming are presented, together with a scheme without spectrum sensing. CR users belong to a cognitive radio network (CRN) which is coexisting with a primary radio network (PRN). Both the CRN and the PRN are CDMA based. The CRN is assumed to utilize beamforming for its CR users. Soft hand-off (HO) and power control are considered in both the CRN and the PRN. The impact of beamforming on the system performance is analyzed, considering various metrics. In particular, we evaluate the performance of the proposed systems in terms of outage probability, blocking probability, and average data rate of CR users. The results obtained clearly indicate that significant performance improvements can be obtained by CR users with the help of beamforming. The impact of several system parameters on the performance of the three considered spectrum sensing schemes with beamforming is analyzed. Our results, in terms of probability of outage, show that the relative improvement brought by the use of beamforming is higher in the absence of spectrum sensing (reduction of 80%) than in the presence of spectrum sensing (reduction of 42%).  相似文献

In this paper, we have proposed an efficient wavelength assignment algorithm for dynamic provisioning of lightpath. This proposed algorithm is based on most-used wavelength assignment algorithm. We have also suggested a mathematical model for WDM optical networks for minimization of blocking probability. The results of proposed algorithm and suggested model are then compared with the conventional wavelength assignment algorithms such as first-fit, best-fit, random and most-used wavelength assignment algorithms. These proposed approaches are very effective for the minimization of blocking probability of optical WDM networks.  相似文献

We present a novel algorithm for dynamic routing with dedicated path protection which, as the presented simulation results suggest, can be efficient and exact. We present the algorithm in the setting of optical networks, but it should be applicable to other networks, where services have to be protected, and where the network resources are finite and discrete, e.g., wireless radio or networks capable of advance resource reservation. To the best of our knowledge, we are the first to propose an algorithm for this long-standing fundamental problem, which can be efficient and exact, as suggested by simulation results. The algorithm can be efficient because it can solve large problems, and it can be exact because its results are optimal, as demonstrated and corroborated by simulations. We offer a worst-case analysis to argue that the search space is polynomially upper bounded. Network operations, management, and control require efficient and exact algorithms, especially now, when greater emphasis is placed on network performance, reliability, softwarization, agility, and return on investment. The proposed algorithm uses our generic Dijkstra algorithm on a search graph generated “on-the-fly” based on the input graph. We corroborated the optimality of the results of the proposed algorithm with brute-force enumeration for networks up to 15 nodes large. We present the extensive simulation results of dedicated-path protection with signal modulation constraints for elastic optical networks of 25, 50, and 100 nodes, and with 160, 320, and 640 spectrum units. We also compare the bandwidth blocking probability with the commonly-used edge-exclusion algorithm. We had 48,600 simulation runs with about 41 million searches.  相似文献

为了测试星地光网络的性能,设计了一种基于OPNET的星地光网络性能测试仿真平台。介绍了平台的总体技术架构,探讨了星间链路建立的条件。采用最大接入仰角与最长服务时间加权的方式,完成星地链路的卫星接入服务;按照切换呼叫优先的策略完成业务传输中的卫星切换服务,确保星地链路不间断的通信能力。根据最小链路代价和首次命中原则,实现星地光网络的路由与波长的动态分配。最后,利用平台的OPNET软件测试了三种星座下的星地光网络性能,测试结果表明:在LEO、MEO和GEO星座下,星地光网络的网络阻塞率分别为10%、40%和54%,平均网络时延分别为0.1s、0.07s和0.054s。测试结果对星地光网络的工程应用具有一定的指导意义。  相似文献

Optical burst switching (OBS) is an optical switching paradigm which offers a good tradeoff between the traditional optical circuit switching (OCS) and optical packet switching (OPS) since it has the relatively easy implementation of the first and the efficient bandwidth utilization of the second. Hence, OBS is a promising technology for the next generation optical Internet. A buffer-less OBS network can be implemented using ordinary optical communication equipment without the need for either wavelength converters or optical memories. In an OBS network, burst-loss performance is a critical concern. In OBS, the data-burst transmission is delayed by an offset time (relative to its burst control packet (BCP), or header) and the burst follows its header without waiting for an acknowledgment for resource reservation. Thus, a burst may be lost at an intermediate node due to contention, which is generally resolved according to the local routing and bandwidth information. The routing table maintained in each OBS node is generally pre-computed and fixed to forward the data bursts. Such a static forwarding feature might have limited efficiency to resolve contentions. Moreover, a burst may be lost and the network may be congested when a network element (e.g., fiber link) fails. In this paper, an efficient integrated scheme based on dynamic routing and burst segmentation has been proposed to improve reliability of data transport and network load balancing in optical burst switched networks. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed approach reduces effectively blocking probability and hence contention. Further, it provides end-to-end throughput performance also. Hence, it establishes an appropriate tradeoff between loss rate and end-to-end throughput.  相似文献
