The weak cosmic censorship conjecture in the near-extremal BTZ black hole has been tested using test particles and fields. It has been claimed that such a black hole can be overspun. In this paper,we review the thermodynamics and weak cosmic censorship conjecture in BTZ black holes using the scattering of a scalar field. The first law of thermodynamics in the non-extremal BTZ black hole is recovered. For the extremal and near-extremal black holes, due to the divergence of the variation of entropy,we test the weak cosmic censorship conjecture by evaluating the minimum of the function f,and find that both the extremal and near-extremal black holes cannot be overspun.  相似文献

It has recently been shown that black holes can act as particle accelerators and two particles can collide with arbitrarily high center-of-mass (CM) energy under certain critical conditions. In this paper, we investigate particle collisions outside a Reissner-Nordström-de Sitter (RN-dS) black hole. We find that infinite CM energy can be produced near the cosmological horizon for generic spacetime configurations. Remarkably, such infinite CM energy does not require the black hole to be extremal, in contrast to spacetimes in the absence of cosmological constants. However, since the charge of an astrophysical body is negligible, the required charge to mass ratio of the particle is extremely higher than that of any elementary particle.  相似文献

The first law of black hole thermodynamics has been shown to be valid in the extended phase space. However, the second law and the weak cosmic censorship conjecture have not been investigated extensively. We investigate the laws of thermodynamics and the weak cosmic censorship conjecture of an AdS black hole with a global monopole in the extended phase space in the case of charged particle absorption. It is shown that the first law of thermodynamics is valid, while the second law is violated for the extremal and near-extremal black holes. Moreover,we find that the weak cosmic censorship conjecture is valid only for the extremal black hole, and that it can be violated for the near-extremal black holes, which is different from the previous results.  相似文献

By throwing a test charged particle into a Reissner-Nordstrom (RN) black hole, we test the validity of the first and second laws of thermodynamics and the weak cosmic censorship conjecture (WCCC) with two types of boundary conditions: the asymptotically anti-de Sitter (AdS) space and a Dirichlet cavity wall placed in an asymptotically flat space. For the RN-AdS black hole, the second law of thermodynamics is satisfied, and the WCCC is violated for both extremal and near-extremal black holes. For the RN black hole in a cavity, the entropy can either increase or decrease depending on the change in the charge, and the WCCC is satisfied/violated for the extremal/near-extremal black hole. Our results indicate that there may be a connection between the black hole thermodynamics and the boundary condition imposed on the black hole.  相似文献

Non-linear electrodynamics (NLED) is a generalization of Maxwell's electrodynamics for strong fields. It has significant implications for the study of black holes and cosmology and has been extensively studied in the literature, extending from quantum to cosmological contexts. In this work, two new ways to investigate these non-linear theories are investigated. First, the Blandford-Znajek mechanism is analyzed in light of this promising theoretical context, providing the general form of the extracted power up to second order in the black hole spin parameter a. It is found that, depending on the NLED model, the emitted power can be extremely increased or decreased, and that the magnetic field lines around the black hole seem to become vertical quickly. Considering only separated solutions, it is found that no monopole solutions exist and this could have interesting astrophysical consequences (not considered here). Last but not least, it is attempted to confine the NLED parameters by inducing the amplification of primordial magnetic fields (“seeds”), thus admitting non-linear theories already during the early stages of the Universe. However, the latter approach proves to be useful for NLED research only in certain models. These (analytical) results emphasize that the behavior of non-linear electromagnetic phenomena strongly depends on the physical context and that only a power-law model seems to have any chance to compete with Maxwell.  相似文献

Considering the cosmological constant as the pressure, this study addresses the laws of thermodynamics and weak cosmic censorship conjecture in the Reissner-Nordstr?m-AdS black hole surrounded by quintessence dark energy under charged particle absorption. The first law of thermodynamics is found to be valid as a particle is absorbed by the black hole. The second law, however, is violated for the extremal and near-extremal black holes, because the entropy of these black hole decrease. Moreover, we find that the extremal black hole does not change its configuration in the extended phase space, implying that the weak cosmic censorship conjecture is valid. Remarkably, the near-extremal black hole can be overcharged beyond the extremal condition under charged particle absorption. Hence, the cosmic censorship conjecture could be violated for the near-extremal black hole in the extended phase space. For comparison, we also discuss the first law, second law, and the weak cosmic censorship conjecture in normal phase space, and find that all of them are valid in this case.  相似文献

The near-horizon geometry of a large class of extremal and near-extremal black holes in string and M-theory contains three-dimensional asymptotically anti-de Sitter space. Motivated by this structure, we are led naturally to a discrete set of complex frequencies defined in terms of the monodromy at the inner and outer horizons of the black hole. We show that the correspondence principle, whereby the real part of these "nonquasinormal frequencies" is identified with certain fundamental quanta, leads directly to the correct quantum behavior of the near-horizon Virasoro algebra, and thus the black hole entropy. Remarkably, for the rotating black hole in five dimensions we also reproduce the fractionization of conformal weights predicted in string theory.  相似文献

Motivated by possible relation between Born–Infeld type nonlinear electrodynamics and an effective low-energy action of open string theory, asymptotically Reissner–Nordström black holes whose electric field is described by a nonlinear electrodynamics (NLED) are studied. We take into account a four dimensional topological static black hole ansatz and solve the field equations, exactly, in terms of the NLED as a matter field. The main goal of this paper is investigation of thermodynamic properties of the obtained black holes. Moreover, we calculate the heat capacity and find that the nonlinearity affects the minimum size of stable black holes. We also use Legendre-invariant metric proposed by Quevedo to obtain scalar curvature divergences. We find that the singularities of the Ricci scalar in Geometrothermodynamics (GTD) method take place at the Davies points.  相似文献

The motion of electric charges and dipoles falling radially and freely into a Schwarzschild black hole is considered. The inverse effect of the electromagnetic fields on the black hole is neglected. Since the dipole is assumed to be a point particle, the deformation due to the action of tidal forces on it is neglected. According to the theorem stating that “black holes have no hair”, the multipole electromagnetic fields should be completely radiated as a multipole falls into a black hole. The electromagnetic radiation power spectrum for these multipoles (a monopole and a dipole) has been found. Differences have been found in the spectra for different orientations of the falling dipole. A general method has been developed to find the radiated multipole electromagnetic fields for multipoles (including higher-order multipoles—quadrupoles, etc.) falling freely into a black hole. The calculated electromagnetic spectra can be compared with observational data from stellar-mass and smaller black holes.  相似文献

Recent research of massive fields quasinormal modes suggested that the arbitrary long living modes can be exist. Using different orders of WKB method, we study the massive scalar fields quasinormal modes of Schwarzschild–de Sitter black holes. It is shown that the WKB method can not applied for large massive scalar fields directly in asymptotic flat space-time but can fit well in de Sitter space-time. We prove the non-existence of QRMs in de Sitter space-time and find that the real parts of QNMs increase linearly and the imaginary parts approach to special values as the mass of scalar fields increase.  相似文献

The destruction of a regular black hole event horizon might provide us the possibility to access regions inside black hole event horizon. This paper investigates the possibility of overcharging a charged Taub-NUT regular black hole via the scattering of a charged field and the absorption of a charged particle. For the charged scalar field scattering, both the near-extremal and extremal charged Taub-NUT regular black holes cannot be overcharged. For the test charged particle absorption, the result shows that the event horizon of the extremal charged Taub-NUT regular black hole still exists while the event horizon of the near-extremal one can be destroyed. However, if the charge and energy cross the event horizon in a continuous path, the near-extremal charged Taub-NUT regular black hole might not be overcharged.  相似文献

It has recently been pointed out that, under certain conditions, the energy of particles accelerated by black holes in the center-of-mass frame can become arbitrarily high. In this paper, we study the collision of two particles in the case of four-dimensional charged nonrotating, extremal charged rotating and near-extremal charged rotating Kaluza-Klein black holes as well as the naked singularity case in Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory. We find that the center-of-mass energy for a pair of colliding particles is unlimited at the horizon of charged nonrotating Kaluza-Klein black holes, extremal charged rotating Kaluza-Klein black holes and in the naked singularity case.  相似文献

The Einstein equations with a negative cosmological constant admit black hole solutions which are asymptotic to anti-de Sitter space. Like black holes in asymptotically flat space, these solutions have thermodynamic properties including a characteristic temperature and an intrinsic entropy equal to one quarter of the area of the event horizon in Planck units. There are however some important differences from the asymptotically flat case. A black hole in anti-de Sitter space has a minimum temperature which occurs when its size is of the order of the characteristic radius of the anti-de Sitter space. For larger black holes the red-shifted temperature measured at infinity is greater. This means that such black holes have positive specific heat and can be in stable equilibrium with thermal radiation at a fixed temperature. It also implies that the canonical ensemble exists for asymptotically anti-de Sitter space, unlike the case for asymptotically flat space. One can also consider the microcanonical ensemble. One can avoid the problem that arises in asymptotically flat space of having to put the system in a box with unphysical perfectly reflecting walls because the gravitational potential of anti-de Sitter space acts as a box of finite volume.  相似文献

Motivated by Maggiore’s new interpretation of quasinormal modes, we investigate area spectra of a near extremal Schwarzschild–de Sitter black hole and a higher-dimensional near extremal Reissner–Nordstrom–de Sitter black hole. The result shows that the area spectra are equally spaced and irrelevant to the parameters of the black holes.  相似文献

In this paper we show that the entropy of a cosmological horizon in 4-dimensional topological Kerr-Newman-de Sitter spaces can be described by the Cardy-Verlinde formula, which is supposed to be an entropy formula of conformal field theory in any number of dimensions. Furthermore, we find that the entropy of a black hole horizon can also be rewritten in terms of the Cardy-Verlinde formula for these black holes in de Sitter spaces, if we use the definition due to Abbott and Deser for conserved charges in asymptotically de Sitter spaces. Such results presume a well-defined dS/CFT correspondence, which has not yet attained the credibility of its AdS analogue.Received: 7 April 2003, Revised: 18 June 2003, Published online: 29 August 2003  相似文献

We consider a holographic extended phase space in the presence of Reissner-Nordstrom-Anti-de Sitter(RNAdS) and Born-Infeld-Anti-de Sitter(BI-AdS) black holes in the bulk. In this extended phase space the cosmological constant is investigated as pressure and volume is defined as the codimension one-time slice in the bulk geometry enclosed by the minimal area appearing in the computation of the holographic entanglement entropy. These thermodynamics quantities can serve as probes of the underlying phase transition dictated by black hole thermodynamics, but do not describe different structures. We find that the isocharges on the pressure-volume plane exhibit a Van der Waals-like structure, for RN-AdS black holes in the background. For BI-AdS black holes, we observe the analogy with a Van der Waals liquid-gas system for βQ 1/2 and Reentrant phase transition for βQ 1/2 in the holographic extended phase space. The same holographic thermodynamic behavior is observed when we use the fidelity susceptibility as the volume and the cosmological constant as the pressure for RN-AdS black hole in the background.  相似文献

We apply the null-geodesic method to investigate tunneling radiation of charged and magnetized massive particles from Taub-NUT-Reissner-Nordström black holes endowed with electric as well as magnetic charges in Anti-de Sitter (AdS) spaces. The geodesics of charged massive particle tunneling from the black hole is not lightlike, but can be determined by the phase velocity. We find that the tunneling rate is related to the difference of Bekenstein-Hawking entropies of the black hole before and after the emission of particles. The entropy differs from just a quarter area at the horizon of black holes with NUT parameter. The emission spectrum is not precisely thermal anymore and the deviation from the precisely thermal spectrum can bring some information out, which can be treated as an explanation to the information loss paradox. The result can also be treated as a quantum-corrected radiation temperature, which is dependent on the black hole background and the radiation particle’s energy and charges.  相似文献

De Sitter black holes have the black hole horizon and the cosmological horizon, and the thermodynamic quantities on the two horizons all satisfy the first law of thermodynamics. The thermodynamic quantities on the two horizons are not independent but are correlated to each other. Taking de Sitter space-time as thermodynamic system, we investigated the effective thermodynamic quantities of Reissner–Nordström de Sitter black hole surrounded by the quintessence (RN-DSQ). We obtained the effective temperature and entropy of the system by considering the corrections between the black hole horizon and the cosmological horizon. We found that the entropy of the RN-DSQ is in agreement with that of Reissner–Nordström de Sitter black hole. It offers a basis for further studying of the thermodynamic properties of de Sitter space-time.  相似文献

Recently, the non-trivial solutions for 4-dimensional black holes of Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity had been discovered. In this paper, considering a charged particle entering into a 4-dimensional Gauss-Bonnet-Maxwell black hole, we calculate the black hole thermodynamic properties using the Hamilton-Jacobi equation. In the normal phase space, the cosmological constant and Gauss-Bonnet parameter are fixed, the black hole satisfies the first and second laws of thermodynamics, and the weak cosmic censorship conjecture (WCCC) is valid. On the other hand, in the case of extended phase space, the cosmological constant and Gauss-Bonnet parameter are treated as thermodynamic variables. The black hole also satisfies the first law of thermodynamics. However, the increase or decrease in the black hole's entropy depends on some specific conditions. Finally, we observe that the WCCC is violated for the near-extremal black holes in the extended phase space.  相似文献

We investigate properties of the inner horizons of certain black holes in higher-derivative three-dimensional gravity theories. We focus on Ba?ados-Teitelboim-Zanelli and spacelike warped anti-de Sitter black holes, as well as on asymptotically warped de Sitter solutions exhibiting both a cosmological and a black hole horizon. We verify that a first law is satisfied at the inner horizon, in agreement with the proposal of Castro and Rodriguez [arXiv:1204.1284]. We then show that, in topologically massive gravity, the product of the areas of the inner and outer horizons fails to be independent on the mass, and we trace this to the diffeomorphism anomaly of the theory.  相似文献
