Using the collinear QCD factorization approach, we study the single-transverse-spin dependent cross section Δσ(S) for the hadronic production of two jets of momenta P1=P+q/2 and P2=−P+q/2. We consider the kinematic region where the transverse components of the momentum vectors satisfy PqΛQCD. For the case of initial-state gluon radiation, we show that at the leading power in q/P and at the lowest non-trivial perturbative order, the dependence of Δσ(S) on q decouples from that on P, so that the cross section can be factorized into a hard part that is a function only of the single scale P, and into perturbatively generated transverse-momentum dependent (TMD) parton distributions with transverse momenta .  相似文献

In this paper we give all the details of the calculation that we presented in our previous paper [F. Fiamberti, A. Santambrogio, C. Sieg, D. Zanon, Wrapping at four loops in SYM, arXiv: 0712.3522], concerning the four-loop anomalous dimension of the Konishi descendant tr(ZZZZ) in the SU(2) sector of the planar SYM theory. Euclidean n-component 4 theories whose Hamiltonians are O(n) symmetric except for quadratic symmetry breaking boundary terms are studied in the film geometry . The boundary terms imply the Robin boundary conditions at the boundary planes at z=0 and at z=L. Particular attention is paid to the cases in which mj of the n variables associated with plane take the special value corresponding to critical enhancement while the remaining ones are larger and hence subcritically enhanced. Under these conditions, the semi-infinite system with boundary plane has a multicritical surface–bulk point, called mj-special, at which an O(mj) symmetric critical surface phase coexists with the O(n) symmetric bulk phase, provided d is sufficiently large. The L-dependent part of the reduced free energy per cross-section area behaves asymptotically as ΔC/Ld−1 as L→∞ at the bulk critical point. The Casimir amplitudes ΔC are determined for small =4−d in the general case where mc,c components α are critically enhanced at both boundary planes, mc,D+mD,c components are enhanced at one plane but satisfy asymptotic Dirichlet boundary conditions at the respective other, and the remaining mD,D components satisfy asymptotic Dirichlet boundary conditions at both . Whenever mc,c>0, the corresponding small- expansions involve, besides integer powers of , also fractional powers k/2 with k3 modulo powers of logarithms. Results to order 3/2 are given for general values of mc,c, mc,D+mD,c, and mD,D. These are used to estimate the Casimir amplitudes ΔC of the three-dimensional Heisenberg systems with surface spin anisotropies for the cases with (mc,c,mc,D+mD,c)=(1,0), (0,1), and (1,1).  相似文献

This paper reports that monitoring the composition of the c(0 0 0 1), a(11–20) and m(10–10) sapphire surfaces is essential for a proper interpretation of the surface morphologies obtained after annealing at 1253 and 1473 K in ArH2 or ArO2 atmospheres. Our experimental investigations, which have used Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) on the surfaces of 99.99% pure sapphire wafers, have led to the following original conclusions: (i) Calcium segregates at the c-surface of sapphire both under ArO2 and ArH2. (ii) Potassium adsorption enhances the kinetics of step-bunching on the c-surface under ArO2. (iii) The step edges on the a-surface may develop a comb-like morphology made of parallel strips along the [10–10] direction. (iv) At 1253 K, clean m-surfaces may be stable. (v) Under ArH2, alumina surface diffusion is much slower than under ArO2 for all surface orientations, the surface concentration of impurities is low, and the Al–O ratio of the AES signals at the surface is significantly larger.  相似文献

This work focuses on one-dimensional (1D) quasi-periodically forced nonlinear wave equations. This means studying with Dirichlet boundary conditions, where ε is a small positive parameter, (t) is a real analytic quasi-periodic function in t with frequency vector ω=(ω1,ω2…,ωm) and the nonlinearity h is a real analytic odd function of the form It is shown that, under a suitable hypothesis on (t) and h, there are many quasi-periodic solutions for the above equation via KAM theory.  相似文献

We report experimental results on an anisotropic magnetotransport of a bilayer electron system at the Landau level filling factor under tilted magnetic fields. We find that the magnetoresistance changes when the direction of applied in-plane field B is changed with respect to the direction of the current while keeping the strength of B fixed. This anisotropy only appears at the ground state where interlayer electron tunneling is permitted. Therefore, this phenomenon indicates that bilayer systems at with interlayer tunneling inherently have a dissipation mechanism related to the direction of the in-plane field.  相似文献

We report on the first measurement of the differential cross section of -meson photoproduction for the d(γ,pK+K)n exclusive reaction channel. The experiment was performed using a tagged-photon beam and the CEBAF Large Acceptance Spectrometer (CLAS) at Jefferson Lab. A combined analysis using data from the d(γ,pK+K)n channel and those from a previous publication on coherent production on the deuteron has been carried out to extract the N total cross section, σN. The extracted N total cross section favors a value above 20 mb. This value is larger than the value extracted using vector-meson dominance models for photoproduction on the proton.  相似文献

The tunneling conductance in a NG/SG graphene junction in which the graphene was grown on a SiC substrate is simulated. The carriers in the normal graphene (NG) and the superconducting graphene (SG) are treated as massive relativistic particles. It is assumed that the Fermi energy in the NG and SG are EFN400 meV and EFS400 meV+U, respectively. Here U is the electrostatic potential from the superconducting gate electrode. It is seen that the Klein tunneling disappears in the case where a gap exist in the energy spectrum. As U→∞, the zero bias normalized conductance becomes persistent at a minimal value of G/G01.2. The normalized conductance G/G0 is found to depend linearly on U with constant slope of , where is the size of the gap Δ opening up in the energy spectrum of the graphene grown on the SiC substrate. It is found that G/G02+αU for potentials in the range −270 meV<U<0 meV and G=0 for potentials U<−270 meV. As α→∞, the conductance for eV=Δ (V is the bias voltage placed across the NG/SG junction) can be approximated by a unit step function G(eV=Δ,U)/G02Θ(U). This last behavior indicates that a NG/SG junction made with gapped graphene could be used as a nano switch having excellent characteristics.  相似文献

(K0.5Na0.5)NbO3 (KNN) single crystals were grown using a high temperature flux method. The dielectric permittivity was measured as a function of temperature for [001]-oriented KNN single crystals. The ferroelectric phase transition temperatures, including the rhombohedral–orthorhombic TRO, orthorhombic–tetragonal TOT and tetragonal–cubic TC were found to be located at −149  C, 205 C and 393 C, respectively. The domain structure evolution with an increasing temperature in [001]-oriented KNN single crystal was observed using polarized light microscopy (PLM), where three distinguished changes of the domain structures were found to occur at −150  C, 213 C and 400 C, corresponding to the three phase transition temperatures.  相似文献

The two-state vector model is used to investigate the final population of the Rydberg states (nA1,lA=0–2,mA=0) of multiply charged ions escaping solid surfaces at intermediate velocities (v≈1 a.u.). Within the framework of the proposed time-symmetrized quantum model, the electron capture is a non-resonant, velocity dependent process, characterized by the selective population of the ionic Rydberg states. The final population probabilities are obtained in a relatively simple analytical form, which enables us to elucidate the role of the ionic core polarization and to analyze the and v probability distributions. We consider the ions SVI, ClVII and ArVIII with core charges Z=6, 7 and 8, respectively, and the ions KrVIII and XeVIII with Z=8. The results are obtained for two type of surfaces and compared with available beam-foil experimental data.  相似文献

The structure of light hypernuclei with strangeness S=−1 and −2 is investigated with the microscopic cluster model and the Gaussian expansion method (GEM). We emphasize that the cluster picture as well as the mean-field picture is invaluable to understand the structure of Λ hypernuclei, Σ hypernuclei and double Λ hypernuclei. A variety of aspects of Λ hypernuclei is demonstrated through a systematic study of p-shell hypernuclei (,, , , , , ) and sd-shell ones (, ): for example, the appearance of genuine hypernuclear states with new spatial symmetry which cannot be seen in ordinary nuclei, the glue-like role of the Λ particle which shrinks the size of nuclear core and thus reduces the B(E2) value, and the halo and skin structures in and etc. The typical light hypernucleus is thoroughly investigated, including its production, structure and decay. Precise three-body and four-body calculations of , and using GEM provide important information on the spin structure of the underlying ΛN interaction, by comparing with recent experimental data from γ-ray hypernuclear spectroscopy. The ΛΣ coupling effect is studied in and . The binding mechanism of is discussed together with the possible existence of , emphasizing the fact that the study of is useful for extracting information on the ΣN interaction differing from that from . A systematic study of double-Λ hypernuclei, constrained by the NAGARA data () within a four-body cluster model indicates that the recently observed Demachi–Yanagi event can be interpreted as the 2+ state of . The effect of hyperon mixing in and is investigated using one-boson-exchange potentials and quark-cluster-model interactions for the S=−2 sector. A close relation between nuclear deep hole states and hypernuclei is discussed, emphasizing the selection rule for fragmentation of the s-hole in light nuclei, which is promising for understanding the production mechanism of double-Λ and twin-Λ hypernuclei via Ξ-atomic capture.  相似文献

The atomistic calculations of the physical properties of perfect single-walled carbon nanotubes based on the use of the translational symmetry of the nanotubes face increasing computational difficulties for most of the presently synthesized nanotubes with up to a few thousand atoms in the unit cell. This difficulty can be circumvented by use of the helical symmetry of the nanotubes and a two-atom unit cell. We present the results of such symmetry-adapted tight-binding calculations of the totally symmetric A1 phonons (the RBM and the G-band modes) and their resonant Raman intensity for several hundred nanotubes.In particular, we show that (1) the frequencies and the resonant Raman intensity of the RBM and the G-band modes show diameter and chirality dependence and family patterns, (2) the strong electron– phonon interactions in metallic nanotubes lead to Kohn anomalies at the zone center, (3) the G-band consists of a subband due to phonons of semiconducting tubes centered at 1593 cm−1, a subband of phonons at 1570 cm−1, and a subband of phonons of metallic tubes at 1540 cm−1. The latter prediction confirms previous theoretical results but disagrees with the commonly adopted assignment of the G-band features.  相似文献

Within the νMSSM, a Minimal Supersymmetric neutrino See-saw Model, Lepton Flavour Violating Higgs couplings are strongly enhanced at large tanβ (30), which can lead to BR(H0/A0τμ)O(10−4), for MH0/A0160 GeV. Enhancements on the production of Higgs bosons, through the gluon fusion mechanism, ggH0/A0, and the associated production channel , whose rates grow with tanβ, as well as the mass degeneracy that occurs between the H0 and A0 states in this regime, also contribute to further the possibilities to detect a heavy Higgs signal into τμ pairs. We show that the separation of τμ Higgs events from the background at the upcoming CERN Large Hadron Collider could be done for Higgs masses up to about 600 GeV for 300 fb−1 of luminosity, for large tanβ values. However, even with as little as 10 fb−1 one can probe H0/A0 masses up to 400 GeV or so, if tanβ=60. Altogether, these processes then provide a new Higgs discovery mode as well as an independent test of flavour physics.  相似文献

Within the framework of classic electromagnetic theories, we have studied the sign of refractive index of optical medias with the emphases on the roles of the electric and magnetic losses and gains. Starting from the Maxwell equations for an isotropic and homogeneous media, we have derived the general form of the complex refractive index and its relation with the complex electric permittivity and magnetic permeability, i.e. , in which the intrinsic electric and magnetic losses and gains are included as the imaginary parts of the complex permittivity and permeability, respectively, as  = r + ii and μ = μr + iμi. The electric and magnetic losses are present in all passive materials, which correspond, respectively, to the positive imaginary permittivity and permeability i > 0 and μi > 0. The electric and magnetic gains are present in materials where external pumping sources enable the light to be amplified instead of attenuated, which correspond, respectively, to the negative imaginary permittivity and permeability i < 0 and μi < 0. We have analyzed and determined uniquely the sign of the refractive index, for all possible combinations of the four parameters r, μr, i, and μi, in light of the relativistic causality. A causal solution requires that the wave impedance be positive Re{Z} > 0. We illustrate the results for all cases in tables of the sign of refractive index. One of the most important messages from the sign tables is that, apart from the well-known case where simultaneously  < 0 and μ < 0, there are other possibilities for the refractive index to be negative n < 0, for example, for r < 0, μr > 0, i > 0, and μi > 0, the refractive index is negative n < 0 provided μi/i > μr/r.  相似文献

Two different reconstructions of the (01.2) face (Ca or CO3 terminated) of calcite (CaCO3) were studied: (i) R1 reconstruction: the outermost layer is based on the [0 1 0] × 1/3[2 1 1] rectangular mesh, which is symmetrical with respect to the c glide plane of the crystal, thus fulfilling the 2D symmetry of the face and (ii) R2 reconstruction: the outermost layer is based on a lozenge shaped mesh that does not respect the 2D symmetry of the face.The , , and slabs geometry optimizations of calcite (CaCO3) were performed either at DFT level or by using empirical potentials; the results obtained with these two different calculation methodologies are in good agreement. With respect to their arrangement in the bulk, the CO3 groups of the outermost layer are significantly rotated about the crystallographic a-axis and about the normal to the 01.2 plane; further, the thickness of the outermost layer is significantly lower than that of the underneath ones.The surfaces energies (γ) at 0 K, for relaxed and unrelaxed , , and faces, were determined either at DFT level or by using empirical potentials. Independently of the method of calculation employed, the stability order of the relaxed faces is < < < . Concerning the unrelaxed faces, whose energies were evaluated by using empirical potentials only, the stability order is instead < < < ; such different ordering shows the importance of geometry relaxation in the calculation of the surface energy. The values of the relaxed surface energies are , , and erg/cm2.  相似文献

The Driven-Equilibrium Carr–Purcell Meiboom–Gill (DECPMG) pulse sequence is a rapid method for obtaining the average ratio of longitudinal to transverse relaxation times T1/T2 as a function of T2. Since this is a one-dimensional experiment, the T1/T2T2 ratio can be acquired, potentially, in just two scans; the second scan being a reference CPMG measurement. Conventionally, T1/T2 is determined from a two-dimensional T1-T2 relaxation correlation experiment. The method described here offers a significant reduction in experimental time without a reduction in signal-to-noise. The T1/T2 ratio is useful for comparing the behaviour of liquids in porous media. Here we demonstrate the application of the DECPMG sequence to the study of oil-bearing rocks by differentiating oil or water saturated rock cores, and by observing the relative strengths of surface interaction for water in two types of rock by measuring T1/T2 as a function of magnetic field strength.  相似文献

We study the velocity of bubble walls in the electroweak phase transition. For several extensions of the Standard Model, we estimate the friction and calculate the wall velocity, taking into account the hydrodynamics. We find that deflagrations are generally more likely than detonations. Nevertheless, for models with extra bosons, which give a strongly first-order phase transition, the deflagration velocity is in general quite high, 0.1vw0.6. Therefore, such phase transitions may produce an important signal of gravitational waves. On the other hand, models with extra fermions which are strongly coupled to the Higgs boson may provide a strongly first-order phase transition and small velocities, 10−2vw10−1, as required by electroweak baryogenesis.  相似文献

It is proposed that T violation in physics, as well as the masses of electron and quarks, arise from a pseudoscalar interaction with a new spin 0 field τ(x), odd in P and T, but even in C. This interaction contains a factor iγ5 in the quark and lepton Dirac algebra, so that the full Hamiltonian is conserving; but by spontaneous symmetry breaking, the new field τ(x) has a nonzero expectation value τ≠0 that breaks P and T symmetry. Oscillations of τ(x) about its expectation value produce a new particle, the “timeon”. The mass of timeon is expected to be high because of its flavor-changing properties.The main body of the paper is on the low energy phenomenology of the timeon model. As we shall show, for the quark system the model gives a compact three-dimensional geometric picture consisting of two elliptic plates and one needle, which embodies the 10 observables: six quark masses, three Eulerian angles and the Jarlskog invariant of the CKM matrix.For leptons, we assume that the neutrinos do not have a direct timeon interaction; therefore, the lowest neutrino mass is zero. The timeon interaction with charged leptons yields the observed nonzero electron mass, analogous to the up and down quark masses. Furthermore, the timeon model for leptons contains two fewer theoretical parameters than observables. Thus, there are two testable relations between the three angles and the Jarlskog invariant of the neutrino mapping matrix.  相似文献

We introduce an original pulse sequence, , which is a block super-cycled sequence employing as basic element a π pulse sandwiched by ‘window’ intervals. This homonuclear dipolar recoupling method allows the efficient excitation of double-quantum coherences between spin-1/2 nuclei submitted to very large chemical shift anisotropy. We demonstrate that this technique can be employed in double-quantum ↔ single-quantum 31P homonuclear correlation experiment at high magnetic field (B0  14 T) and high MAS frequencies (νR  30 kHz). The performances of are compared to those of the double-quantum recoupling methods, such as BABA and bracketed fp-RFDR, which were already employed at fast MAS rates. The sequence displays a higher robustness to CSA and offset than the other existing techniques.  相似文献
