THE AB INITIO CALCULATION FOR THE BONDING STATE OF THE Hn CTUSTERS

The equilibrium geometries of several Hn（n=4,5,6,7,9,13) clsters with certain symmetry have been optimized by the ab inito Murtaug-Sargent(MS) method.We find that the stability of a centered cluster depends on the structure,the spin symmetry and the coordinate number,and the latter plays a more important role.

ON THE IRREDUCIBLE REPRESENTATIONS OF THE SIMPLE LIE GROUPS I——THE TENSOR BASIS FOR THE INFINITESIMAL GENERATORS OF THE CLASSICAL SIMPLE LIE GROUPS

In this paper, we analyse the commutation relations of the infinitesimal generatorsof all simple classical Lie groups and establish a new basis for these generators, calledthe tensor basis. In tensor basis, the infinitesimal, generators can be written as somescalar operators, some sets of angular momentum operators and some sets of irreducibletensor operators. The commutation relations, of these operators are very simple andhave many regularities. By means of the method that has been used in the earlier papers, "On the irre-ducible representations of the compact simple Lie groups of rank 2, I,II,III" and thetensor basis, all the irreducible representations of the classical simple Lie groups canbe calculated systematically.

THE ACOUSTIC FUNCTIONS OF THE MELON OF THE CHINESE RIVER DOLPHIN(Lipotes vexillifer)

In this paper,the acoustic functions of the melon of the Chinese river dolphin(Lipotes vexillifer)are studied.Based on the comparison between the directivity patterns of the whole head and the skull,it is suggested that the melon plays an important role in beamforming.At the frequencuy of 40 kHz,the—3 dB beamwidth of the emitted vertical beam of the whole head is approximately 21.6°,withthe major axis elevated 10°above the ristrum plane;the—3 dB beamwidth of the horizontal beam ofthe whole head is approximately 20°,with the major axis deviated 12°rightward from the body axis.The vertical and horizontal—3dB beamwidths of the whole head are 9.4°and 13°,narrower than thoseof the skull respectively,and the directions of the major axes are different for both cases.It canbe seen that the melon narrows the width of the main beam and greatly reduces the side lobes of thebeam formed by the skull.The distribution of the sound velocity in the melon tissue is measured andthe distribution pattern is drawn.Fr     

THE ι-E PUZZLE AND THE GENERALIZED MOMENT ANALYSIS

We have introduced the photon angular distribution for moments of the process e⁺e^－→J/ψ→γB,B→P₁P₂P₃ to discuss the ι-E puzzle and got an effective criterion to distinguish whether there exist E(1⁺⁺) component in the peak for the process e⁺e^－→J/ψ→γKKπ.     

ON THE CONTROL OF RINGING NOISE EXCITED BY IMPACT II:THE ENERGY OF RINGING NOISE AND THE BUFFERING OF THE IMPACT

In the first of these two papers,the expression for the total energy of vibration excited by impacthas been obtained.In this paper the energy equation of ringing noise was derived from the resultof the first paper.This energy equation indicates the approaches to control ringing noise.Thebuffering method was discussed here in detail.The experiment which has been conducted was describedalso.     

THE TWO-BOSON SCATTERING PHASE SHIFTS IN THE GENERAL φ6 THEORY WITH THE GAUSSIAN WAVE-FUNCTIONAL APPROACH

The two-particle scattering phase shifts with a λφ⁴ +ξφ⁶ interaction are com-puted in (1 + 1) and (2 + 1) dimensions using the Gaussian wave-functional approach.Through numerical analysis, we give the phase-shift curves with respect to the scat-tering energy for most cases of this theory. In (1 + 1) and (2 + 1 ) dimensions, for the symmetry vacuum the phase shifts are positive or negative depending on the signs of the renormalized parameter, while for the asymmetric vacuum the phase shifts are negative.     

SIGNIFICANT EFFECT ON THE BINDING ENERGY OF 5He BY THE CHANGE OF THE INTERNAL ENERGY OF THE α PARTICLE

The change of the internal energy of the α-particle is usually neglected in the previous calculations of the binding energy of ⁵He.The present work shows explicitly that the change of the internal energy of the α-particle can influence significantly the theoretical value of the binding energy of ⁵He.

DOES PARISI'S SOLUTION OF THE SHERRINGTON-KIRKPATRICK MODEL LOCATE ON THE ABSOLUTEMAXIMUM OF THE FREE ENERGY?

In the spin glass phase near the critical temperature we find in aparticular replica symmetry breaking pattern an order parameter with free energy greater than that of the Parisi's.     

THE INTERACTION OF A HIGH ENERGETIC PROTON WITH A NUCLEUS—THE RELATION OF THE PRODUCED PARTICLES WITH THE NUCLEAR MASS NUMBER A

Suppose that a high energetic proton interacts with a cluster of m particles in anucleus the mean multiplicity of this interaction and that of PP interaction followthe same law: n=CS^k. Using the Glauber theory we get R(A)≡n_PA/n_PP1.26A ^1/3(A ^1/3+1) ^-2/3 This formula explains the current experimental result quite well.

ON THE INVESTIGATION OF THE SOUND ABSORPTION OF LINEAR TRANSITION WEDGES

In this article the reflection coefficient of linear transition wedges is discussed,and an analyticalexpression and a simple real expression of the reflection coefficient under W.K.B.approximationare derived.The approximate expression of the reflection coefficient proves to be simple and con-venient for the design of absorbers. The sound absorbent structure of rib is also computed and analyzed,with emphasis on the rela-tionship between the size of the structure and the parameters of the material. In design of two types of wedges mentioned above,for the required frequency range,the materialperameters can be chosen properly and the dependence of the Wedge length on the lower limit fre-quency can be determined easily based on the derived expression.The theoretical computationsagree well with the experimental results.     

FIVE-CHANNEL CALCULATION OF THE EXCITED STATE STRUCTURE FOR THE NEON ATOM

In this paper we have extended the eigenchannel quantum defecttheory(EQDT)into the five-channel case and calculated thecomplete excited-state structure of the neon atom.     

ADDENDUM TO “THE RELATIVISTIC COVARIANCE OF THE B-CYCLIC RELATIONS”

In a previous paper [Found. Phys. Lett. 10, 383–391 (1997)] we proved that the Evans–Vigier definitions of B ⁽⁰⁾ and B ⁽³⁾ may be related not with magnetic fields but with a 4-vector field. In the present Addendum it is shown that the terms used in the B-cyclic theorem proposed by M. Evans and J.-P. Vigier may have various transformation properties with respect to Lorentz transformations. The fact whether theB ⁽³⁾ field is a part of a bivector (which is equivalent to antisymmetric second-rank tensor) or a part of a 4-vector depends on the phase factors in the definition of positive- and negative-frequency solutions of the (B, E) transverse field. This is closely connected to our considerations of the Bargmann–Wightman–Wigner (Gelfand–Tsetlin–Sokolik) constructs and with Ahluwalia's recent consideration of the phase factor related to gravity. The physical relevance of proposed constructs is discussed.     

ASYMPTOTIC FREEDOM AND THE WAVE FUNCTIONS AT THE ORIGIN AND THE ENERGY LEVELS OF THE J/ψ AND THEY

On the basis of phenomenological quantum chromodynamics (QCD), a nonre-lativistic linear and Coulomb-like potential describtion of the strong interaction be-tween quarks is assumed and it is considered that the effective quark-gluon coup-ling constant approaches the asymptotically free limit of QCD. The cloice of thepotential parameters is so made as to fit the experimental values of the wave func-tions at the origin as well as the masses of the J/ψ and the γ Following the calcu-lation referring to the ψ′and the γ′, we acquire a consistent explanation for boththe relative values of the wave functions at the origin and the experimental mass asdifferences of these particles.

THE ESTIMATION OF THE PREVALENCE OF HEAR-ING-IMPAIRMENT FOR THE NOISE-EXPOSED POPULATION IN CHINA BASED ON ISO/DIS 1999.2

Based on the noise survey in China,the formula(H′=H N-HN/120 )of ISO/DIS 1999.2 ("Acous-tics-Determination of Occupational noise exposure and estimation of noise-induced hearingimpairment,1985 )was applied to the calculation of the hearing threshold level associated with age andnoise(HTLAN)of the noise-impaired people.According to the Gausscian distribution,when thenoise-exposure level L_(EX8h)was 85,90 ,95,100 dB and the hearing threshold frequency is from 0.5k to6kHz,the HTLAN of noise-exposed people withdifferent duration of exposure and its relation values tothe hearing threshold frequency associated with age(HTLA)were obtained.The ISO/DIS 1999.2 hasbeen proved to be applicable in China.     

THE EFFECT OF ELECTRIC LOAD ON THE CHARACTERISTICS FOR PIEZOELECTRIC VIBRATIONAL SYSTEM

The effect of electric load on the piezoelectric vibrational system due to electroacoustic coupling isanalytically investigated.The analytical results show that:(1)when load impedance continuallychanges from ∞to+∞,the mechanical resonant frequency of the system would fill all frequencydomain from 0 to ∞;(2)the displacement and stress distributions also would change,even the dis-placement may be zero at both free ends(i.e.at points where stress is equal to zero). Finally,the experiments for longitudinal vibration of piezoelectric strip of lateral polarizationare given and compared with theoretical results.
