Based on a new set of entanglement monotones of two-qubit pure states, we give sufficient and necessary conditions that one two-qubit mixed state is transformed into another one by local operations and classical communication (LOCC). This result can be viewed as a generalization of Nielsen's theorem Nielsen (1999) [1]. However, we find that it is more difficult to manipulate the entanglement transformation between single copy of two-qubit mixed states than to do between single copy of two-qubit pure ones.  相似文献

Optimal teleportation with a mixed state of two qubits   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We consider a single copy of a mixed state of two qubits and derive the optimal trace-preserving local operations assisted by classical communication such as to maximize the fidelity of teleportation that can be achieved with this state. These optimal local operations turn out to be implementable by one-way communication and always yield a teleportation fidelity larger than 2/3 if the original state is entangled. This maximal achievable fidelity is an entanglement measure and turns out quantifying the minimal amount of mixing required to destroy the entanglement in a quantum state.  相似文献

We demonstrate how a beam splitter in combination with different light sources can be used as an optimal universal 1-->2 quantum cloner and as an optimal universal quantum NOT machine for the polarization qubit of a single photon. For the cloning a source of single photons with maximally mixed polarization is required and for the NOT operation a source of maximally entangled photon pairs. We demonstrate both operations with near optimal fidelity. Our scheme can be generalized in a natural way to clone and NOT the spin state of electrons.  相似文献

Strategies to measure a quantum state   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We consider the problem of determining the mixed quantum state of a large but finite number of identically prepared quantum systems from data obtained in a sequence of ideal (von Neumann) measurements, each performed on an individual copy of the system. In contrast to previous approaches, we do not average over the possible unknown states but work out a “typical” probability distribution on the set of states, as implied by the experimental data. As a consequence, any measure of knowledge about the unknown state and thus any notion of “best strategy” (i.e., the choice of observables to be measured, and the number of times they are measured) depend on the unknown state. By learning from previously obtained data, the experimentalist re-adjusts the observable to be measured in the next step, eventually approaching an optimal strategy. We consider two measures of knowledge and exhibit all “best” strategies for the case of a two-dimensional Hilbert space. Finally, we discuss some features of the problem in higher dimensions and in the infinite dimensional case.  相似文献

The method of quantum cloning is divided into two main categories: approximate and probabilistic quantum cloning. The former method is used to approximate an unknown quantum state deterministically, and the latter can be used to faithfully copy the state probabilistically. Thus far, many approximate cloning machines have been experimentally demonstrated, but probabilistic cloning remains an experimental challenge, as it requires more complicated networks and a higher level of precision control. In this work, we design an efficient quantum network with a limited amount of resources and perform the first experimental demonstration of probabilistic quantum cloning in a NMR quantum computer. In our experiment, the optimal cloning efficiency proposed by Duan and Guo [Phys. Rev. Lett. 80, 4999 (1998)] is achieved.  相似文献

Any physical transformation that equally distributes quantum information over a large number M of users can be approximated by a classical broadcasting of measurement outcomes. The accuracy of the approximation is at least of the order O(M(-1)). In particular, quantum cloning of pure and mixed states can be approximated via quantum state estimation. As an example, for optimal qubit cloning with 10 output copies, a single user has an error probability p(err) > or = 0.45 in distinguishing classical from quantum output, a value close to the error probability of the random guess.  相似文献

We study quantum cloning machines (QCM) that act on an unknown N-level quantum state and make M copies. We give a formula for the maximum of the fidelity of cloning and exhibit the unitary transformations that realize this optimal fidelity. We also extend the results to treat the case of M copies from () identical N-level quantum systems. Received 21 September 1999  相似文献

We present two schemes for perfect cloning unknown two-qubit and general two-qubit entangled states with assistance from two state preparers, respectively. In the schemes, the sender wish to teleport an unknown two-qubit (or general two-qubit) entangled state which from two state preparers to a remote receiver, and then create a perfect copy of the unknown state at her place. The schemes include two stages. The first stage of the schemes requires usual teleportation. In the second stage, to help the sender realize the quantum cloning, two state preparers perform two-qubit projective measurements on their own qubits which from the sender, then the sender can acquire a perfect copy of the unknown state. To complete the assisted cloning schemes, several novel sets of mutually orthogonal basis vectors are introduced. It is shown that, only if two state preparers collaborate with each other, and perform projective measurements under suitable measuring basis on their own qubit respectively, the sender can create a copy of the unknown state by means of some appropriate unitary operations. The advantage of the present schemes is that the total success probability for assisted cloning a perfect copy of the unknown state can reach 1.  相似文献

In this paper we propose a new scheme of long-distance quantum cryptography based on spin networks with qubits stored in electron spins of quantum dots. By" conditional Faraday- rotation, single photon polarization measurement, and quantum state transfer, maximal-entangled Bell states for quantum cryptography between two long-distance parties are created. Meanwhile, efficient quantum state transfer over arbitrary" distances is obtained in a spin chain by" a proper choice of coupling strengths and using spin memory- technique improved. We also analyse the security" of the scheme against the cloning-based attack which can be also implemented in spin network and discover that this spin network cloning coincides with the optimal fidelity- achieved by" an eavesdropper for entanglement-based cryptography.  相似文献

We report an experimental realization of both optimal asymmetric cloning and telecloning of single photons by making use of partial teleportation of an unknown state. In the experiment, we demonstrate that, conditioned on the success of partial teleportation of single photons, not only the optimal asymmetric cloning can be accomplished, but also one of two outputs can be transferred to a distant location, realizing the telecloning. The experimental results represent a novel way to achieve quantum cloning and may have potential applications in the context of quantum communication.  相似文献
