We consider a large atom with nuclear charge Z described by non-relativistic quantum mechanics with classical or quantized electromagnetic field. We prove that the absolute ground state energy, allowing for minimizing over all possible self-generated electromagnetic fields, is given by the non-magnetic Thomas-Fermi theory to leading order in the simultaneous Z → ∞, α → 0 limit if Z α 2κ for some universal κ, where α is the fine structure constant.  相似文献

We introduce, and numerically study, a system of N symplectically and globally coupled standard maps localized in a d=1 lattice array. The global coupling is modulated through a factor r, being r the distance between maps. Thus, interactions are long-range (nonintegrable) when 0≤α≤1, and short-range (integrable) when α>1. We verify that the largest Lyapunov exponent λM scales as λM ∝ N-κ(α), where κ(α) is positive when interactions are long-range, yielding weak chaos in the thermodynamic limit N↦∞ (hence λM→0). In the short-range case, κ(α) appears to vanish, and the behaviour corresponds to strong chaos. We show that, for certain values of the control parameters of the system, long-lasting metastable states can be present. Their duration tc scales as tc ∝Nβ(α), where β(α) appears to be numerically in agreement with the following behavior: β>0 for 0 ≤α< 1, and zero for α≥1. These results are consistent with features typically found in nonextensive statistical mechanics. Moreover, they exhibit strong similarity between the present discrete-time system, and the α-XY Hamiltonian ferromagnetic model.  相似文献

We consider the problem of minimizing the eigenvalues of the Schr?dinger operator H=−Δ+αF(κ) (α>0) on a compact n-manifold subject to the restriction that κ has a given fixed average κ0. In the one-dimensional case our results imply in particular that for F(κ)=κ2 the constant potential fails to minimize the principal eigenvalue for α>αc1/(4κ0 2), where μ1 is the first nonzero eigenvalue of −Δ. This complements a result by Exner, Harrell and Loss, showing that the critical value where the constant potential stops being a minimizer for a class of Schr?dinger operators penalized by curvature is given by α c . Furthermore, we show that the value of μ1/4 remains the infimum for all α >α c . Using these results, we obtain a sharp lower bound for the principal eigenvalue for a general potential. In higher dimensions we prove a (weak) local version of these results for a general class of potentials F(κ), and then show that globally the infimum for the first and also for higher eigenvalues is actually given by the corresponding eigenvalues of the Laplace–Beltrami operator and is never attained. We have investigated the proof of the H theorem within a manifestly covariant approach by considering the relativistic statistical theory developed in [G. Kaniadakis, Phys. Rev. E 66, 056125 (2002); G. Kaniadakis, Phys. Rev. E 72, 036108 (2005)]. As it happens in the nonrelativistic limit, the molecular chaos hypothesis is slightly extended within the Kaniadakis formalism. It is shown that the collisional equilibrium states (null entropy source term) are described by a κ power law generalization of the exponential Juttner distribution, e.g., , with θ=α(x)+βμpμ, where α(x) is a scalar, βμ is a four-vector, and pμ is the four-momentum. As a simple example, we calculate the relativistic κ power law for a dilute charged gas under the action of an electromagnetic field Fμν. All standard results are readly recovered in the particular limit κ→0.  相似文献

Starting from the generalized exponential function , with exp 0(x)=exp (x), proposed in reference [G. Kaniadakis, Physica A 296, 405 (2001)], the survival function P>(x)=exp κ(-βxα), where x∈R+, α,β>0, and , is considered in order to analyze the data on personal income distribution for Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom. The above defined distribution is a continuous one-parameter deformation of the stretched exponential function P> 0(x)=exp (-βxα) to which reduces as κ approaches zero behaving in very different way in the x→0 and x→∞ regions. Its bulk is very close to the stretched exponential one, whereas its tail decays following the power-law P>(x)∼(2βκ)-1/κx-α/κ. This makes the κ-generalized function particularly suitable to describe simultaneously the income distribution among both the richest part and the vast majority of the population, generally fitting different curves. An excellent agreement is found between our theoretical model and the observational data on personal income over their entire range.  相似文献

Ratios of coupling constants for these decays are compared with qq̄ predictions and Jaffe’s q22 model. In both models, the predicted ratio g2(κ→Kπ)/g2(σ→ππ) is much too small. Also, for qq̄, the predicted ratio g2(κ→Kη’)/g2(κ→Kπ) is much larger than observed. Both models fail for g2(f0→KK)/g2(a0→KK). This ratio requires that f0 has a dominant KK component. It arises naturally because the f0 pole lies very close to the KK threshold, giving its wave function a long KK tail. PACS 13.25.Gv, 14.40.Gx, 13.40.Hq  相似文献

Absolute spectral luminosity from an O2–O2(a)-H2O gas flow formed by a chemical singlet oxygen generator was measured at 600–800 and 1230–1310 nm wavelengths. The results were used to determine the rate constants for O2(a, 0) + O2(a, 0) → O2(X, 0) + O2(X, 0) + hν (λ = 634 nm) and O2(a, 0) + O2(a, 0) → O2(X, 1) + O2(X, 0) + hν (λ = 703 nm) collision-induced emission ((6.72 ± 0.8) × 10−23 and (7.17 ± 0.8) × 10−23 cm3/s, respectively).  相似文献

Earlier by the authors (Yad. Fiz. 70, 68 (2007)), the states were treated in the framework of the spectral integral equation, together with simultaneous calculations of radiative decays of the considered bottomonia. In the present paper, such a study is carried out for the charmonium states. We reconstruct the interaction in the c-c sector on the basis of the data for the charmonium levels with J PC = 0−+, 1−−, 0++, 1++, 2++, 1+− and radiative transitions ψ(2S) → γχ c0(1P), γχ c1(1P), γχ c2(1P), γχ c(1S) and χ c0(1P), χ c1(1P), χ c2(1P) → γJ/ψ. The c-c levels and their wave functions are calculated for the radial excitations with n ≤ 6. Also, we determine the c-c component of the photon wave function using the e + e -annihilation data: e + e J/ψ(3097), ψ(3686), ψ(3770), ψ(4040), ψ(4160), ψ(4415) and perform the calculations of the partial widths of the two-photon decays for the n = 1 states η c0(1S), χ c0(1P), χ c2(1P) → γγ and n = 2 states η c0(2S) → γγ, χ c0(2P) → γγ. We discuss the status of the recently observed c-c states X(3872) and Y(3941): according to our results, the X(3872) can be either χ c1(2P) or η c2(1D), while Y(3941) is χ c2(2P). In the temperature range of T = 150–400 K, the dependence of spectral widths (cm−1) on temperature, 182 + 0.38(±0.01)T and 217 + 0.48(±0.01)T, respectively, has been obtained for dimole emission of O2(a, 0) + O2(a, 0) → O2(X, 1) + O2(X, 0) + hν (λ = 703 nm) and O2(a, 0) + O2(a, 0) → O2(X, 0) + O2(X, 0) + hν (λ = 634 nm). It was shown that the ratio of dimole emission rate constants does not depend on temperature in the range of 150–400 K and is 1.06 ± 0.01.  相似文献

Let E(B,Z,N) denote the ground state energy of an atom with N electrons and nuclear charge Z in a homogeneous magnetic field B. We study the asymptotics of E(B,Z,N) as B→∞ with N and Z fixed but arbitrary. It is shown that the leading term has the form (ln B)2 e(Z,N), where e(Z,N) is the ground state energy of a system of N bosons with delta interactions in one dimension. This extends and refines previously known results for N= 1 on the one hand, and N,Z→∞ with B/Z 3→∞ on the other hand. Received: 9 December 1999 / Accepted: 15 February 200  相似文献

We report our observations on the resonance signals of masses of 1520, 1670, 1810 (1 820), and 2100 MeV c −2, produced inclusively in the reaction Σ + C(Cu) → p + K + X, and the signals of masses of 1020 and 1525 MeV c −2, produced inclusively in the reaction Σ + C(Cu) → K+ + K + X, with a 600-GeV c −1- momentum hyperon beam in the SELEX experiment at the Fermilab. The masses, widths, and branching ratios were measured. The resonance signal of mass of 1520 MeV c −2 correspond to the known Λ(1520) hyperon. The signals of masses of 1020 and 1525 MeV c −2 in the K+K system correspond to the φ0(1020)- and f 2′(1525) mesons, respectively. The branching ratio of the resonance of mass of 1670 MeV c −2 relative to Λ(1520) is (24.92 ± 0.45 ± 0.48)%, while that of the resonance of mass of 1810 (or 1 820) MeV c −2 relative to Λ(1520) is (16.13 ± 0.38 ± 0.45)%. The branching ratio of the f 2′(1525) resonance relative to φ0(1020) is (10.75 ± 0.25 ± 0.45)%. Data analysis was performed over 6 × 107 trigger events registered by the SELEX setup on the FNAL Tevatron.  相似文献

We perform rigorously the charge renormalization of the so-called reduced Bogoliubov-Dirac-Fock (rBDF) model. This nonlinear theory, based on the Dirac operator, describes atoms and molecules while taking into account vacuum polarization effects. We consider the total physical density ρ ph including both the external density of a nucleus and the self-consistent polarization of the Dirac sea, but no ‘real’ electron. We show that ρ ph admits an asymptotic expansion to any order in powers of the physical coupling constant α ph, provided that the ultraviolet cut-off behaves as L ~ e3p(1-Z3)/2aph >> 1{\Lambda\sim e^{3\pi(1-Z_3)/2\alpha_{\rm ph}} \gg 1}. The renormalization parameter 0 < Z 3 < 1 is defined by Z 3 = α ph/α, where α is the bare coupling constant. The coefficients of the expansion of ρ ph are independent of Z 3, as expected. The first order term gives rise to the well-known Uehling potential, whereas the higher order terms satisfy an explicit recursion relation.  相似文献

We have derived the so-called gap equation, which determines the upper critical magnetic field, perpendicular to conducting chains of a quasi-one-dimensional superconductor. By analyzing this equation at low temperatures, we have found that the calculated angular dependence of the upper critical magnetic field is qualitatively different than that in the so-called effective mass model. In particular, our theory predicts a non-analytical angular dependence of the upper critical magnetic field, H c2(0) − H c2(α) ∼ α3/2, when magnetic field is close to some special crystallographic axis and makes an angle α with it. We discuss possible experiments on the superconductor (DMET)2I3 to discover this non-analytical dependence.  相似文献

The inclusive production cross sections of the strange vector mesons K*0, K̄*0, and φ have been measured in interactions of 920 GeV protons with C, Ti, and W targets with the HERA-B detector at the HERA storage ring. Differential cross sections as a function of rapidity and transverse momentum have been measured in the central rapidity region and for transverse momenta up to pT = 3.5 GeV/c. The atomic number dependence is parametrised as σpApN*Aα, where σpN is the proton–nucleon cross section. Within the phase space accessible, α(K*0)=0.86±0.03, α(K̄*0)=0.87±0.03, and α(φ)=0.96±0.02. The total proton–nucleon cross sections, determined by extrapolating the differential measurements to full phase space, are σpN→K*0=(5.06±0.54) mb, σpN→K̄*0=(4.02±0.45) mb, and σpN→φ=(1.17±0.11) mb. For all resonances the Cronin effect is observed; compared to the measurements of Cronin et al. for K± mesons, the measured values of α for φ mesons coincide with those of K+ mesons for all transverse momenta, while the enhancement for K*0/K̄*0 mesons is smaller.  相似文献

A new expression is found for the spin-dependent contribution Δm s to the self-energy of an electron moving with a transverse momentum p⊥ in an electric field. The structure of an asymptotic expansion of Δm s (r, χ) as a function of two dynamical invariants r = γ −2 and χ = γ |ɛ|/ɛ c (γ 2 ≡ 1 + p 2/m 2 c 2 and ɛ c m 2 c 3/|e|ℏ) is clarified with the aid of this expression. The expansion of Δm s (r, χ) can be represented in the form of a Taylor series in r, the coefficients in this series, F 0(χ), F 1(χ), etc., being integrals of the Mellin type. The major coefficient F 0(χ) is universal and, in the case of an appropriate interpretation of χ, describes well-known spin-dependent corrections to the mass in three different cases of a constant external field (for r → 0). The asymptotic properties of the function F 1(χ) are studied in detail, but only order-of-magnitude estimates are obtained for F 2(χ) and F 3(χ). A comparison of these contributions revealed that, in the semiclassical region χ ≪ 1, r is indeed the parameter of the aforementioned expansion, while, for χ ≫ 1, the true parameter is 2β 2. In particular, the anomalous magnetic moment develops, owing to F 1(χ), a term that grows logarithmically for χ ≫ 1, but which does not violate the hierarchy of terms in the Taylor series being considered, provided that β remains smaller than unity.  相似文献

We consider (d 0 + 2)-dimensional configurations with global strings in two extra dimensions and a flat metric in d 0 dimensions, endowed with a warp factor e depending on the distance l from the string center. All possible regular solutions of the field equations are classified by the behavior of the warp factor and the extradimensional circular radius r(l). Solutions with r → ∞ and r → const > 0 as l → ∞ are interpreted in terms of thick brane-world models. Solutions with r → 0 as ll c > 0, i.e., those with a second center, are interpreted as either multibrane systems (which are appropriate for large enough distances l c between the centers) or as Kaluza-Klein-type configurations with extra dimensions invisible due to their smallness. In the case of the Mexican-hat symmetry-breaking potential, we build the full map of regular solutions on the (ɛ, Γ) parameter plane, where ɛ acts as an effective cosmological constant and Γ characterizes the gravitational field strength. The trapping properties of candidate brane worlds for test scalar fields are discussed. Good trapping properties for massive fields are found for models with increasing warp factors. Kaluza-Klein-type models are shown to have nontrivial warp factor behaviors, leading to matter particle mass spectra that seem promising from the standpoint of hierarchy problems. We calculate the propagator of the domain wall fermion (DWF) of the RBC/UKQCD collaboration with 2 + 1 dynamical flavors of 163 × 32 × 16 lattice in Coulomb gauge, by applying the conjugate gradient method. We find that the fluctuation of the propagator is small when the momenta are taken along the diagonal of the 4-dimensional lattice. Restricting momenta in this momentum region, which is called the cylinder cut, we compare the mass function and the running coupling of the quark-gluon coupling α s,g1(q) with those of the staggered fermion of the MILC collaboration in Landau gauge. In the case of DWF, the ambiguity of the phase of the wave function is adjusted such that the overlap of the solution of the conjugate gradient method and the plane wave at the source becomes real. The quark-gluon coupling α s,g1(q) of the DWF in the region q > 1.3 GeV agrees with ghost-gluon coupling α s (q) that we measured by using the configuration of the MILC collaboration, i.e., enhancement by a factor (1 + c/q 2) with c ≃ 2.8 GeV2 on the pQCD result. In the case of staggered fermion, in contrast to the ghost-gluon coupling α s (q) in Landau gauge which showed infrared suppression, the quark-gluon coupling α s,g1(q) in the infrared region increases monotonically as q→ 0. Above 2 GeV, the quark-gluon coupling α s,g1(q) of staggered fermion calculated by naive crossing becomes smaller than that of DWF, probably due to the complex phase of the propagator which is not connected with the low energy physics of the fermion taste. We eliminate by KAM methods the time dependence in a class of linear differential equations in ℓ2 subject to an unbounded, quasi-periodic forcing. This entails the pure-point nature of the Floquet spectrum of the operator H 0Pt) for ε small. Here H 0 is the one-dimensional Schr?dinger operator p 2+V, V(x)∼|x|α, α <2 for |x|→∞, the time quasi-periodic perturbation P may grow as |x|β, β <(α−2)/2, and the frequency vector ω is non resonant. The proof extends to infinite dimensional spaces the result valid for quasiperiodically forced linear differential equations and is based on Kuksin's estimate of solutions of homological equations with non-constant coefficients. High-statistics Belle data on the γγ → π0η reaction have been analyzed in order to reveal the mechanism of two-photon production and the nature of the a 0(980) resonance. The solution obtained for the γγ → π0η amplitude is in agreement with the predictions of the chiral theory for the πη-scattering length; with the strong coupling of the a 0(980) resonance with the πη, K $ \bar K $ \bar K , and πη′ channels; and with the key role of the a 0(980) → (K $ \bar K $ \bar K + π0η + π0η′) → γγ rescattering mechanisms in the a 0(980) → γγ decay. This picture is much in favor of the q 2 $ \bar q $ \bar q 2 nature of a 0(980) resonance and is consistent with the properties of its partners, σ0(600) and f 0(980) resonances, in particular, with those manifested in the γγ → ππ reactions. The important role of vector exchanges in the formation of the nonresonant background in the γγ → π0η reaction has been revealed. Preliminary information on the π0η → π0η reaction has been obtained.  相似文献
