The usual kinetic equations for the site occupation probabilities in an external field are solved exactly in a simple one-dimensional periodic model with two kinds of atoms using a) free boundary conditions and order of limitsN, 0 needed for a proper treatment of the dc conductivity here b) boundary conditions with metallic contacts and order of limitsN, 0 and c) the same boundary conditions but reversed order of limiting processes 0,N typical of e.g. numerical and percolation treatments. (N and are the number of sites and frequency.) It is demonstrated that though the bulk dc conductivity is the same in all three cases, local bulk properties of the material are strongly dependent on the régime used. The role of the order of all three limiting processes 0,N+ andn+ (Nn+) for local shifts of the chemical potential n in the dc limit is examined (n is the number of the relevant site calculated from a boundary of the chain). It is shown especially that the rate equation treatment (régime a) on the one hand and numerical or percolation treatments (régime c) on the other hand never yield the same bulk values of r.  相似文献

The sticking process dt + n, which constitutes the most severe limit to the number of fusions which a muon can catalyze, is reviewed. Many attempts were made to determine by calculations and measurements the probability for initial sticking s 0 (immediately after dt fusion) and for final sticking s (after the came to rest). Previous results based on neutron disappearance rates and on the observation of -X-rays were controversial and also in some disagreement with theory. New data are reported from PSI on direct observation of final sticking, using a setup with the St. Petersburg ionization chamber. These data mark a significant improvement in reliability and may clarify questions concerning previous discrepancies. The new results is s(0.56±0.04)%, lower than the theory prediction s=(0.65±0.03)%, at medium density.  相似文献

A system of coordinates on a set of selfdual lattices in a two-dimensionalp-adic symplectic space (V,) is suggested. A unitary irreducible representation of the Heisenberg group of the space (V,) depending on a lattice (an analogue of the Cartier representation) is constructed and its properties are investigated. By the use of such representations for three different lattices one defines the Maslov index =(1,2,3) of a triple of lattices. Properties of the index are investigated and values of in coordinates for different triples of lattices are calculated.  相似文献

Shear-free, general-relativistic perfect fluids are investigated in the case where they are either homogeneous or hypersurface-homogeneous (and, in particular, spatially homogeneous). It is assumed that the energy density and the presurep of the fluid are related by a barotropic equation of statep = p(), where +p 0. Under such circumstances, it follows that either the fluid's volume expansion rate or the fluid's vorticity (i.e., rotation) must vanish. In the homogeneous case, this leads to only two possibilities: either = = 0 (the Einstein static solution), or 0, = 0 (the Gödel solution). In the hypersurface-homogeneous case, the situation is more complicated: either = 0, 0 (as exemplified,inter alia, by the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker models), or 0, = 0 (which pertains, for example, in general stationary cylindrically symmetric fluids with rigid rotation, or = = 0 (as occurs for static spherically symmetric solutions). Each possibility is further subdivided in an invariant way, and related to the studies of other authors, thereby unifying and extending these earlier works.  相似文献

A relation between the spin-lattice relaxation rate (1/T 1) of positive muons and the scattering functionS T (q,) is derived for the antiferromagnet MnF2. We find good agreement between previousSR measurements of 1/T 1 and our calculation using neutron scattering measurements ofS T (q,).  相似文献

Non-stationary cylindrically symmetric one-parameter solutions to Einstein's equations are given for a perfect fluid. There is a time singularity (t=0) at which the pressurep and density are equal to + throughout the radial coordinate range 0 r < , but the solutions are well behaved fort > 0,p and decreasing steadily to zero asr increases through the range 0r<, or as t increases through the range 0<t<. The motion is irrotational with shear, expansion and acceleration. The family of solutions, of Petrov type I, are generally spatially inhomogeneous, of class B(ii), having two spacelike Killing vectors which are mutually orthogonal and hypersurface orthogonal, associated with an orthogonally transitive groupG 2. The spectrum (H) of the tight binding Fibonacci Hamiltonian (H mn= m,n+1+ m+1,n + m,n v(n),v(n)= ((n–1)), 1/ is the golden number) is shown to coincide with the dynamical spectrum, the set on which an infinite subsequence of traces of transfer matrices is bounded. The point spectrum is absent for any , and (H) is a Cantor set for 4. A new direct measurement of the final dt sticking probability s using a special data analysis called the survived muon method is presented. The data were obtained at PSI using a high pressure ionization chamber with H/D/T gas mixtures. The method can provide information on final sticking dt +n independent of theoretical models of stripping and initial sticking. It was found: s=(0.57±0.07±0.02)%. The experiment and the analysis method are discussed in detail.  相似文献

Conventional +SR studies are classified according to their relation with Solid State Physics, and an attempt is made to identify current trends in the field of +SR in solids. Desirable trends and development in +SR techniques are also discussed shortly. Rather than risk attempts at predicting the future [1] of +SR in solids, it is perhaps prudent merely to identify trends in the field and let individual readers to extrapolate. In this Letter we study twisted traces of products of intertwining operators for quantum affine algebras. They are interesting special functions, depending on two weights ,, three scalar parameters q,,k, and spectral parameters z 1,...,z N , which may be regarded as q-analogs of conformal blocks of the Wess–Zumino–Witten model on an elliptic curve. It is expected that in the rank 1 case they essentially coincide with the elliptic hypergeometric functions defined by Felder and Varchenko. Our main result is that after a suitable renormalization the traces satisfy four systems of difference equations – the Macdonald–Ruijsenaars equation, the q-Knizhnik–Zamolodchikov–Bernard equation, and their dual versions. We also show that in the case when the twisting automorphism is trivial, the trace functions are symmetric under the permutation , k . Thus, our results generalize those of Etingof and Schiffmann, dealing with the case q=1, and Etingof, Varchenko, and Schiffmann, dealing with the finite-dimensional case.  相似文献

The paper considers the wave equation, with constant or variable coefficients in n , with odd n3. We study the asymptotics of the distribution t of the random solution at time t as t . It is assumed that the initial measure 0 has zero mean, translation-invariant covariance matrices, and finite expected energy density. We also assume that 0 satisfies a Rosenblatt- or Ibragimov–Linnik-type space mixing condition. The main result is the convergence of t to a Gaussian measure as t , which gives a Central Limit Theorem (CLT) for the wave equation. The proof for the case of constant coefficients is based on an analysis of long-time asymptotics of the solution in the Fourier representation and Bernstein's room-corridor argument. The case of variable coefficients is treated by using a version of the scattering theory for infinite energy solutions, based on Vainberg's results on local energy decay.  相似文献

The purpose of this article is the study of the new class of multifractal measures, which combines additive and multiplicative chaos, defined bywhere is any positive Borel measure on [0,1] and b is an integer 2. These results generalize ubiquity theorems associated with the Lebesgue measure.Under suitable assumptions on , the multifractal spectrum of , is linear on [0,h, ] for some critical value h, . Then is strictly concave on the right of h, , and on this part it is deduced from the multifractal spectrum of by an affine transformation. This untypical shape is the result of the combination between Dirac masses and atomless multifractal measures. These measures satisfy multifractal formalisms. Zero field SR spectra from Cr85Mo15 are well described by the sum of a lightly damped (0.02s–1<1<0.2s–1) and a heavily damped (2s–1<2<15s–1) exponential. The temperature dependence of these components is discussed in relation to the condensation of the incommensurate spin density wave and the onset of the antiferromagnetic state in this Cr-like alloy below TN=120K. Evidence is presented for the nucleation of the spin density wave at temperatures greater than 1.5TN.  相似文献

In a nongeometrical interpretation of gravity,the metric g(x) = + (x)is interpreted as an effective metric, whereas(x) is interpreted as afundamental gravitational field, propagated in spacetime which isactually flat. Refractive-index and optical-absorption spectra of Bi-substituted yttrium iron garnet films, epitaxially grown by liquid-phase epitaxy, have been measured in the spectral regime 0.26 m1.9 m by thin-film interference for 0.52 m and by ellipsometry for0.52 m. The Y3–x–y Bi x Pb y Fe5–z Pt z O12 films contain bismuth in the range Ox 1.42, lead in the range 0.01 y0.08 and platinum in the range 0.005<=z0.03. There is satisfactory coincidence between the results from ellipsometry and thin-film interference in the overlapping wavelength region. The materials investigated are the same as reported earlier from this laboratory in ter mof their magnetic and magnetooptic properties.  相似文献

We consider the effect of a high-frequency pumping cost on the escape rate of a classical underdamped Brownian particle out of a deep potential well. The energy dependence of the oscillation frequency(E) is assumed to be weak on the scale of thermal energy,E(0)T(0)T/V0 (0)[E(0) is the derivative of(E) atE= 0,V 0 is the barrier height,V 0 T]. The quadratic-in- contribution to the decay rate is calculated in two different regimes: (1) for the case of resonance of the pumping frequency with the nth harmonic of the internal motion at an energye, when = n(e); (2) for a rollout region of the basic resonance near the bottom of the potential well, when ¦-(0)¦ and is the damping coefficient. In the latter case the absorption spectrum and the enhancement of the decay rate are calculated as functions of two reduced parameters, the anharmonicity of the potential,v E (0)T/, and the resonance mismatch, [(0)]/. It is shown that the effect of the pumping increases with diminishing ¦v¦ and at small v is proportional tov –1. In this regime, the dependence on is stepwise: the pumping contribution is large for v > 0 and small for v < 0. In the frame of our theory, the decay rate is invariant against the simultaneous alternation of the signs of andv. The spectrum of the energy absorption has the standard Lorentzian shape in the absence of anharmonicity,v=0, and with increasing of ¦v¦ shifts and widens retaining its bell-shape form.  相似文献

The self-averaging properties of the conductanceg are explored in random resistor networks (RRN) with a broad distribution of bond strengthsP(g)g –1. The RRN problem is cast in terms of simple combinations of random variables on hierarchical lattices. Distributions of equivalent conductances are estimated numerically on hierarchical lattices as a function of sizeL and the distribution tail strength parameter . For networks above the percolation threshold, convergence to a Gaussian basin is always the case, except in the limit 0. Adisorder length D is identified, beyond which the system is effectively homogeneous. This length scale diverges as Dµ–v ( is the regular percolation correlation length exponent) when the microscopic distribution of conductors is exponentially wide (0). This implies that exactly the same critical behavior can be induced by geometrical disorder and by strong bond disorder with the bond occupation probabilityp. We find that only lattices at the percolation threshold have renormalized probability distributions in aLevy-like basin. At the percolation threshold the disorder length diverges at a critical tail strength µc as µ––z withz3.2±0.1, a new exponent.Critical path analysis is used in a generalized form to give the macroscopic conductance in the case of lattices abovep c.  相似文献

By using the [General Relativity + additional matter fields] formulation (which depends on a redefined metrich ) of metric theories of gravitation, the study of singularities characterized by incomplete nonspacelike geodesics is simplified, but may be used only if (at least) the non-spacelike geodesics of the original metricg are conserved under the transformation betweeng and the new metrich . In order that every class of geodesies of a diagonal Bianchi I metric correspond to the same class of geodesies of a diagonal metrich , it is necessary that the transformation between these two metrics be a constant (positive) conformal transformation. We analyse the implications of the previous results for the singularitiesg when the latter is a solution of theories with a quadratic or polynomial Lagrangian.  相似文献
