Molecular-dynamics was used to investigate the structural changes occurring in a three-dimensional solid when the solid is transferred from an amorphous into a crystalline state. Crystal cells of a new type — pentadecahedrons with five square lateral faces and ten regular triangular faces at the vertices of a cell — were found for the first time in a computer experiment. It is shown that a bistructure consisting of crystal cells of different types, including cells with five-fold symmetry axes, are stable in the solid. Fiz. Tverd. The deformation of the free surface of a magnetic fluid containing a cylinder made of a magnetizable material subjected to a uniform applied magnetic field is analyzed. The statics and dynamics of a magnetic fluid free surface is studied theoretically and experimentally. A discontinuous (jump-like) change of the surface shape is shown to occur when the applied magnetic field gradually increases or decreases. If the applied magnetic field increases and then decreases, a hysteresis of the shape is observed.  相似文献

Within the relativistic quasipotential approach to quantum field theory, a method is developed for solving a finite-difference quasipotential equation for the case where a total quasipotential describing the interaction of two relativistic spinless particles of unequal masses is a superposition of a nonlocal separable and a local quasipotential. The cases are investigated where the local component of the total interaction—it is assumed to be known—either admits or does not admit the existence of bound states. This makes it possible to obtain an exact expression for the increment of the phase shift, to determine the conditions of the existence of bound states, and to give a generalization of the Levinson theorem.  相似文献

In a quantum search algorithm, the initial state which is a linear superposition of all possible basis states is a separable state. At each iteration, the state becomes more and more entangled until eventually it disentangles and reverts to a separable state consisting of the marked state. A design study based on a modelling approach was used to optimise the characteristics of a new concept of suspension for training sulkies. The numerical model of sulky including the suspension and, in a second stage, a mechanical model of driver, allowed the definition of technical specifications. They were used to manufacture a prototype of suspension mounted on a current production model of sulky. The prototype of suspension was then tested in the lab and in a racecourse in real conditions of use.The resulting vibration exposure was assessed from vibration measurements. It was slightly lower than the limit value enacted in the European Vibration directive (1.15 m s2), but drastically reduced in comparison with the exposure measured on the original sulky (2.56 m s2). The prototype and moreover the design procedure is currently in a transfer process towards sulky manufacturers.  相似文献

In this paper we report on the observation of response of a Bloch oscillator at room temperature to a THz-field of a frequency larger than the Bloch frequency. The oscillator consisted of a semiconductor superlattice structure, with an applied dc voltage giving rise to a dc electron drift current. Submitting the oscillator to a field at a frequency of 3.3 THz caused a sizeable reduction of the current; the THz-field was generated by use of intense THz-radiation pulses focused on an antenna coupled to the superlattice. We attribute the THz-field induced reduction of the current to a frequency modulation of the Bloch oscillations of electrons at the frequency of the THz-field, leading to reduction of the electron drift velocity and, consequently, of the current.  相似文献

The conditions under which the nonuniform compensating field of the reflector of the mass-reflectron can be generated with an acceptable accuracy at the symmetry axis of the reflector and extrapolated to the radial neighborhood of the axial line are determined. The plots that illustrate the distribution of the calculated nonuniform field of the reflector, the possibilities for implementation, and errors of focusing with respect to time of flight in the radial neighborhood are presented. Analytical expressions for the calculation of the time of flight of ions in the reflector in which the field distribution is described using a power series and analytical expressions for the calculation of the field distribution in the reflector in which the time of flight is determined using a power series are derived. A method for the analytical calculation of the compensating nonuniform field of the reflector based on the given dependence of the time of flight in the absence of such a field is proposed using a solution to the Abel integral equation. The solution to this equation yields analytical expressions for the calculation of the compensating field of the reflector in mass-reflectrons that contain the zero-field drift space and regions of acceleration (deceleration) of ions with a uniform field.  相似文献

This paper reports on an experimental technique to determine a response function of a thermocouple using a short acoustic pulse wave. A pulse of 10 ms is generated in a tube filled with 1 bar helium gas. The temperature is measured using the thermocouple. The reference temperature is deduced from the measured pressure on the basis of a laminar oscillating flow theory. The response function of the thermocouple is obtained as a function of frequency below 50 Hz through a comparison between the measured and reference temperatures.  相似文献

We experimentally study the diffraction of a Bose-Einstein condensate from a magnetic lattice, realized by a set of 372 parallel gold conductors which are microfabricated on a silicon substrate. The conductors generate a periodic potential for the atoms with a lattice constant of 4 microm. After exposing the condensate to the lattice for several milliseconds we observe diffraction up to fifth order by standard time of flight imaging techniques. The experimental data can be quantitatively interpreted with a simple phase imprinting model. The demonstrated diffraction grating offers promising perspectives for the construction of an integrated atom interferometer.  相似文献

Conclusions Equation (6) relates the complex frequency for a TMnmo mode in a cylindrical cavity to the geometrical parameters, ferrite parameters, and volume and position of the specimen.Formula (6) is a generalization of characteristic equations previously derived [3, 4], which are of great value.The dispersion equation of (6) is of interest in that it allows one to calculate the effects of the dielectric parameters on the cavity, which is of value if a large tuning range is needed.Numerical results are rather laborious to obtain, but some valuable conclusions can be drawn in a relatively simple fashion, as will be shown in a forthcoming paper.  相似文献

In a rigorous electrodynamic formulation, we have investigated diffraction of a plane wave in a chiral medium from a wedge with ideally conducting faces. The boundary-value problem is reduced to a system of functional equations which are transformed to Fredholm integral equations and singular integral equations. We have carried out an asymptotic analysis of the diffraction fields. The scattered field contains plane waves reflected by the faces and cylindrical waves due to the edges, having two opposite types of circular polarization, and also two refraction waves whose polarization corresponds to polarization of the slower characteristic wave in the chiral medium.This paper is dedicated to the memory of Professor M. This paper investigates the application of time-reversal techniques to the detection and ensonification of a target of interest. The focusing method is based on a generalization of time-reversal operator techniques. A subrank time-reversal operator is derived and implemented using a discrete set of transmission beams to ensonify a region of interest. In a dynamic ocean simulation, target focusing using a subrank matrix is shown to be superior to using a full-rank matrix, specifically when the subrank matrix is captured in a period shorter than the coherence time of the modeled environment. Backscatter from the point target was propagated to a vertical 64-element source-receiver array and processed to form the sub-rank time-reversal operator matrix. The eigenvector corresponding to the strongest eigenvalue of the time-reversal operator was shown to focus energy on the target in simulation. Modeled results will be augmented by a limited at-sea experiment conducted on the New Jersey shelf in April-May 2004 measured low-frequency backscattered signal from an artificial target (echo repeater).  相似文献

The filling of a local level at a metal-semiconductor contact is examined as a function of its position and the voltage applied to the contact. It is shown that on the application of a voltage to the contact the normal Fermi distribution can only be obtained where there is a predominant exchange between the level and the metal or the semiconductor. In the general case the dependence of the filling of the level on its position when a voltage is applied to the contact depends in a more complicated way on the energy. The dependence of the filling of the level on the voltage applied to the contact may have a complex character, including the possibility of extremal points.Translated from Izvestiya VUZ. A displacement parameter such as the angle of rotation or the position of a quantum system, or the phase of a harmonic oscillation, is to be estimated by observing the system with an apparatus that applies to it an operator-valued measure (o.v.m.). The o.v.m. minimizing the average cost of errors in the estimate is determined by quantum estimation theory for a system in a pure state. The best estimate of the parameter is found to be the more accurate, the greater the uncertainty of the dynamical variable serving as the infinitesimal generator of the displacement group. The relation of this result to such uncertainty principles as those between angle and angular momentum, and between oscillator phase and photon number, is discussed. A lower bound to the variance of an unbiased estimate of the time of occurrence of an event in the evolution of a system is derived from the quantum-mechanical Cramér-Rao inequality. It is inversely proportional to the square of the uncertainty of the energy of the system.  相似文献

The analysis of the EM radiation from a single charge shows that the radiated power depends on the retarded acceleration of the charge. Therefore for consistency, an accelerated charge, free from the influence of external forces, should gradually lose its acceleration, until its total energy is radiated. Calculations show that the self force of a charge, which compensates for its radiation, is proportional to the derivative of the acceleration. However, when using this self force in the equation of motion of the charge, one gets a diverging solution, for which the acceleration runs away to infinity. This means that there is an inconsistency in the solution of the single charge problem. However, in the construction of the conserved Maxwell charge density, there is implicitly an integral over the corresponding world line which corresponds to a collection of charged spacetime events. One may therefore consistently think of the “self force” as the force on a charge due to another charge at the retarded position. From this point of view, the energy is evidently conserved and the radiation process appears as an absorbing resistance to the feeding source. The purpose of this work is to learn about the behavior of single charges from the behavior of a real current, corresponding to the set of charges moving on a world line, and to study the analog of the self force of a charge associated with the radiation resistance of a continuum of charges.  相似文献

The conductance of a junction between a normal metal and a superconductor having the symmetry proposed by Berezinskii is studied theoretically. The main feature of this symmetry is the odd frequency dependence of the anomalous Green’s function, which makes possible the s-wave triplet superconducting state (the Berezinskii superconductor). The Andreev reflection (which links positive and negative energies) is sensitive to the energetic symmetry; as a result, the conductance of the junction involving the Berezinskii superconductor is qualitatively different from the case of a conventional superconductor. Experimentally, the obtained results can be employed to test the possibility of the Berezinskii superconductivity proposed for Na x CoO2 and to identify the odd-ω component predicted for superconductor-ferromagnet systems.  相似文献

We propose a method to create a monopole structure in a multicomponent condensate by applying the basic methods used to create vortices and solitons experimentally in single-component condensates. We also show that by using a two-component structure for a monopole, we can avoid many problems related to the previously suggested three-component monopole. We discuss the observation and dynamics of such a monopole structure, and note that the dynamics of the two-component monopole differs from the dynamics of the three-component monopole.  相似文献

The conductance of a junction between a normal metal and a superconductor having the symmetry proposed by Berezinskii is studied theoretically. The main feature of this symmetry is the odd frequency dependence of the anomalous Green’s function, which makes possible the s-wave triplet superconducting state (the Berezinskii superconductor). The Andreev reflection (which links positive and negative energies) is sensitive to the energetic symmetry; as a result, the conductance of the junction involving the Berezinskii superconductor is qualitatively different from the case of a conventional superconductor. Experimentally, the obtained results can be employed to test the possibility of the Berezinskii superconductivity proposed for Na x CoO2 and to identify the odd-ω component predicted for superconductor-ferromagnet systems. We found that, at the focus of a chromatic lens, a laser pulse with a self-modulated phase can be shortened due to the radial dependence of the group delay imposed by the lens. Normally, this group delay stretches a short pulse into a long pulse by spreading the arrival time of the pulse at the focus. However, for a pulse with a self-modulated phase, it causes the fields with different phases to overlap, thus resulting in destructive interference that shortens the pulse.  相似文献
