The number\(N_{L_\alpha }^{dir} \) (produced) ofL α -photons produced by electron-bombardment in a thick target of tungsten per incident electron has been measured absolutely with the Ross-filter method and relatively with the crystal-spectrometer method in the energyregion up to the 3.6 times theL III-ionization energy\(E_{L_{III} } \). The result can be presented in the following empirical form:\(N_{L_\alpha }^{dir} \) (produced)=4π·?·(U 0?1) n with ?=0.52·10?4±5% andn=1.44±0.02\((U_0 = E_0 /E_{L_{III} }< 3.6)\). Out of this the number\(n_{L_{III} } \) ofL III-ionizations per electron which is slowed down to the energy\(E_{L_{III} } \) within the target, has been evaluated. The computation of\(n_{L_{III} } \) out of the elementary process by usingBethe's non-relativistic formulae for totalL III-ionization cross sectionQ L and energy loss-dE/ds is in full agreement with experiment in the region 2<U 0<3.6, if the constants in\(Q_{L_{III} } \) are chosen as follows:\(B = 4E_{L_{III} } , b_{L_{III} } = 0.25 \cdot 5.89\). By comparison of this result for\(b_{L_{III} } \) with the corresponding value ofb K in the totalK-ionization cross-sectionQ K for copper (b K=0.35·2.26) it is concluded that\(Q_{L_{III} } \) is considerably higher than predicted by theory. The necessary correction factors as e.g. loss ofL III-ionizations by rediffusion of electrons and portion of indirectly producedL α -radiation-radiation are determined for tungsten quantitatively.  相似文献

The Bethe-Salpeter equations for quark-antiquark composite systems with different quark masses, such as \(q\bar s(with q = u,d),q\bar Q\), and \(s\bar Q\) (with Q = c, b), are written in terms of spectral integrals. For mesons characterized by the mass M, spin J, and radial quantum number n, the equations are written for the (n, M2) trajectories with fixed J. The mixing between states with different quark spin S and angular momentum L is also discussed.  相似文献

It is shown that the von Neumann algebra\(R_\mathfrak{B} \)(B) generated by any scalar local functionB(x) of the free fieldA 0(x) is equal either to\(R_\mathfrak{B} \)(A 0) or to\(R_\mathfrak{B} \)(:A 0 2 :). The latter statement holds if the state space space\(\mathfrak{H}_B \) obtained from the vacuum state by repeated application ofB(x) is orthogonal to the one particle subspace. In the proof of these statements, space-time limiting techniques are used.  相似文献

Following Flory’s ideality hypothesis, the chemical potential of a test chain of length n immersed into a dense solution of chemically identical polymers of length distribution P(N) is extensive in n . We argue that an additional contribution \( \delta\) \( \mu_{{{\rm c}}}^{}\)(n) ~ +1/\( \rho\) \( \sqrt{{n}}\) arises (\( \rho\) being the monomer density) for all P(N) if n ? 〈N〉 which can be traced back to the overall incompressibility of the solution leading to a long-range repulsion between monomers. Focusing on Flory-distributed melts, we obtain \( \delta\) \( \mu_{{{\rm c}}}^{}\)(n) \( \approx\) (1 - 2n/〈N〉)/\( \rho\) \( \sqrt{{n}}\) for n ? 〈N2 , hence, \( \delta\) \( \mu_{{{\rm c}}}^{}\)(n) \( \approx\) -1/\( \rho\) \( \sqrt{{n}}\) if n is similar to the typical length of the bath 〈N〉 . Similar results are obtained for monodisperse solutions. Our perturbation calculations are checked numerically by analyzing the annealed length distribution P(N) of linear equilibrium polymers generated by Monte Carlo simulation of the bond fluctuation model. As predicted we find, e.g., the non-exponentiality parameter K p \( \equiv\) 1 - 〈N p〉/p!〈Np to decay as K p \( \approx\) 1/\( \sqrt{{\langle N \rangle }}\) for all moments p of the distribution.  相似文献

The \(e^ + e^ - \to b\bar bv\bar v\) process, where υ is an electron, muon, or τ-lepton neutrino, is analyzed in detail for the general form of the coupling constant of a Higgs boson with b quarks, with the (m b /v)(a+Iγ5b) parameterization of the \(Hb\bar b\) interaction. This process is shown to be highly sensitive to this coupling constant. Experiments at the future with \(\sqrt s = 500 - GeV\) linear collider will provide limits of 2 and 20% for deviations of the parameters a and b, respectively, from their Standard Model values. Results concerning the \(e^ + e^ - \to b\bar bv\bar v\) process in combination with the independent measurements of the partial width \(\Gamma _{H \to b\bar b}\) can testify to the CP origin of the Higgs sector of the theory.  相似文献

If \(\mathcal{F}\) is a set of subgraphs F of a finite graph E we define a graph-counting polynomial \(p_\mathcal{F}(z)=\sum _{F\in \mathcal{F}}z^{|F|}\) In the present note we consider oriented graphs and discuss some cases where \(\mathcal{F}\) consists of unbranched subgraphs E. We find several situations where something can be said about the location of the zeros of \(p_\mathcal{F}\).  相似文献

The K--induced production of \( \Lambda\)(1405) is investigated in K - d \( \rightarrow\) \( \pi\) \( \Sigma\) n reactions based on coupled-channels chiral dynamics, in order to discuss the resonance position of the \( \Lambda\)(1405) in the \( \bar{{K}}\) N channel. We find that the K - d \( \rightarrow\) \( \Lambda\)(1405)n process favors the production of \( \Lambda\)(1405) initiated by the \( \bar{{K}}\) N channel. The present approach indicates that the \( \Lambda\)(1405) -resonance position is 1420MeV rather than 1405MeV in the \( \pi\) \( \Sigma\) invariant-mass spectra of K - d \( \rightarrow\) \( \pi\) \( \Sigma\) n reactions. This is consistent with an observed spectrum of the K - d \( \rightarrow\) \( \pi^{{+}}_{}\) \( \Sigma^{{-}}_{}\) n with 686-844MeV/c incident K- by bubble chamber experiments done in the 70s. Our model also reproduces the measured \( \Lambda\)(1405) production cross-section.  相似文献

Contrary to the reaction \( \bar{{p}}\) p \( \rightarrow\) e + e - with a high-momentum incident antiproton on a free target proton at rest, in which the invariant mass M of the e + e - pair is necessarily much larger than the \( \bar{{p}}\) p mass 2m , in the reaction \( \bar{{p}}\) d \( \rightarrow\) e + e - n the value of M can take values near or below the \( \bar{{p}}\) p mass. In the antiproton-deuteron electromagnetic annihilation, this allows to access the proton electromagnetic form factors in the timelike region of q2 near the \( \bar{{p}}\) p threshold. We estimate the cross-section \(d\sigma _{\bar pd \to e^ + e^ - n} /d\mathcal{M}\) for an antiproton beam momentum of 1.5GeV/c. We find that near the \( \bar{{p}}\) p threshold this cross-section is about 1pb/MeV. The case of heavy-nuclei target is also discussed. Elements of experimental feasibility are presented for the process \( \bar{{p}}\) d \( \rightarrow\) e + e - n in the context of the \( \overline{{{\rm P}}}\) ANDA project.  相似文献

It is shown that, as in the case of light mesons, heavy-quarkonium states lie, to a high precision, on Regge trajectories in the (n, M 2) and (M 2, J) planes with a universal slope. Specifically, \(c\bar c\) states are described to a high precision by linear trajectories. For \(b\bar b\) states, there is no such linearity but, as in the other cases, there is a universal quantum-number dependence of the trajectory.  相似文献

We present a new method of more speedily calculating a multiplication by using the generalized Bernstein-Vazirani algorithm and many parallel quantum systems. Given the set of real values \(\{a_{1},a_{2},a_{3},\ldots ,a_{N}\}\) and a function \(g:\textbf {R}\rightarrow \{0,1\}\), we shall determine the following values \(\{g(a_{1}),g(a_{2}),g(a_{3}),\ldots , g(a_{N})\}\) simultaneously. The speed of determining the values is shown to outperform the classical case by a factor of \(N\). Next, we consider it as a number in binary representation; M1 = (g(a1),g(a2),g(a3),…,g(a N )). By using \(M\) parallel quantum systems, we have \(M\) numbers in binary representation, simultaneously. The speed of obtaining the \(M\) numbers is shown to outperform the classical case by a factor of \(M\). Finally, we calculate the product; \( M_{1}\times M_{2}\times \cdots \times M_{M}. \) The speed of obtaining the product is shown to outperform the classical case by a factor of N × M.  相似文献

The probability of W-boson decay into a lepton and a neutrino, \(W^ \pm \to \ell ^ \pm \bar \nu _\ell \), in a strong electromagnetic field is calculated. On the basis of the method for deriving exact solutions to relativistic wave equations for charged particles, an exact analytic expression is obtained for the partial decay width \(\Gamma () = \Gamma (W^ + \to \ell ^ + \bar \upsilon _\ell )\) at an arbitrary value of the external-field-strength parameter \( = eM_W^{ - 3} \sqrt { - (F_{\mu \upsilon } q^\upsilon )^2 } \). It is found that, in the region of comparatively weak fields (??1), field-induced corrections to the standard decay width of theW boson in a vacuum are about a few percent. As the external-field-strength parameter is increased, the partial width with respect to W-boson decay through the channel in question, Γ(?), first decreases, the absolute minimum of Γmin=0.926Γ(0) being reached at ?=0.6116. A further increase in the external-field strength leads to a monotonic growth of the decay width of the W boson. In superstrong fields (??1), the partial width with respect to W boson decay is greater than the corresponding partial width \(\Gamma ^{(0)} (W^ \pm \to \ell ^ \pm \bar \upsilon _\ell )\) in a vacuum by a factor of a few tens.  相似文献

Let G n ? Diff+(S 1) be the stabilizer of n given points of S 1. How much information do we lose if we restrict a positive energy representation \(U^c_h\) associated to an admissible pair (c, h) of the central charge and lowest energy, to the subgroup G n ? The question, and a part of the answer originate in chiral conformal QFT. The value of c can be easily “recovered” from such a restriction; the hard question concerns the value of h. If c ≤ 1, then there is no loss of information, and accordingly, all of these restrictions are irreducible. In this work it is shown that \(U^c_{h}|_{G_n}\) is always irreducible for n =  1 and, if h =  0, it is irreducible at least up to n ≤  3. Moreover, an example is given for c >  2 and certain values of \(h \neq \tilde{h}\) such that \(U^c_{h}|_{G_1}\simeq U^c_{\tilde{h}}|_{G_1}\) . It is also concluded that for these values \(U^c_{h}|_{G_n}\) cannot be irreducible for n ≥  2. For further values of c, h and n, the question is left open. Nevertheless, the example already shows that, on the circle, there are conformal QFT models in which local and global intertwiners are not equivalent.  相似文献

The 1/N c -power countings for baryon decays and configuration mixings are determined by means of a nonrelativistic quark picture. Such countings are expected to be robust under changes in the quark masses and, therefore, valid as these become light. It is shown that excited baryons have natural widths of \(\mathcal{O}(N_c^0 )\). These dominant widths are due to the decays that proceed directly to the ground-state baryons, with cascade decays being suppressed to \(\mathcal{O}(1/N_c )\). Configuration mixings, defined as mixings between states belonging to different O(3) × SU(2N f ) multiplets, are shown to be subleading in an expansion in \(1/\sqrt {N_c }\) when they involve the ground-state baryons, while the mixings between excited states can be \(\mathcal{O}(N_c^0 )\).  相似文献

The volume average of the nuclear-spin relaxation rate in type-II superconductors,R s, is calculated for magnetic fields slightly below the upper critical field and all mean free paths,l, and temperatures. It is found to be expressible solely in terms of the volume average of the density of states,\(\bar N(\omega )\), where the latter quantity has been determined recently byNeumann for alll. The derivation is based onHelfand andWerthamer's eigen-value equation for the order parameter,Δ. The deviation of\(\bar R_s \) from the relaxation rate in the normal state,R n, is proportional to the quantity\([|\overline {\Delta |^2 } /\Delta _{BCS}^2 (T)]R_n \) (the bar denotes the spatial average). The proportionality factor is found to decrease monotonously as the temperature decreases and/orl increases. This behavior is closely related to the fact that\(\bar N(\omega )\) shows no gap for the excitation energiesω and decreases asl increases, in particular at energiesω close to zero (ω=0 corresponds to the Fermi energy).  相似文献

We consider two ensembles of \(0-1\) \(n\times n\) matrices. The first is the set of all \(n\times n\) matrices with entries zeroes and ones such that all column sums and all row sums equal r, uniformly weighted. The second is the set of \(n \times n\) matrices with zero and one entries where the probability that any given entry is one is r / n, the probabilities of the set of individual entries being i.i.d.’s. Calling the two expectation values E and \(E_B\) respectively, we develop a formal relation
$$\begin{aligned} E({{\mathrm{perm}}}(A)) = E_B({{\mathrm{perm}}}(A)) e^{\sum _2 T_i}.\quad \quad \quad \quad \mathrm{(A1)} \end{aligned}$$
We use two well-known approximating ensembles to E, \(E_1\) and \(E_2\). Replacing E by either \(E_1\) or \(E_2\) we can evaluate all terms in (A1). For either \(E_1\) or \(E_2\) the terms \(T_i\) have amazing properties. We conjecture that all these properties hold also for E. We carry through a similar development treating \(E({{\mathrm{perm}}}_m(A))\), with m proportional to n, in place of \(E({{\mathrm{perm}}}(A))\).

The new VEPP-2000 e+e? collider of maximum energy 2000 MeV, which is under construction at the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics (Siberian Division, Russian Academy of Sciences, Novosibirsk), is briefly described. Experiments at VEPP-2000 will be performed with two upgraded detectors, CMD-2M and SND. A precise measurement of the total cross section for the process e+e? → hadrons and of the partial cross sections for its exclusive hadronic channels is the main point of the physics program for this machine. These measurements will be aimed at testing QCD and the VMD and CVC models, as well as at refining the hadron contribution to fundamental constants such as the muon anomalous magnetic moment \(a_\mu = \frac{{g - 2}}{2}\) and the fine-structure constant αem(M Z 2 ). Measurements of the nucleon form factors in the reactions e+e?p\(\bar p\), n\(\bar n\) at their threshold will also be of great importance.  相似文献

Using a 1 / n expansion, that is an expansion in descending powers of n, for the number of matchings in regular graphs with 2n vertices, we study the monomer-dimer entropy for two classes of graphs. We study the difference between the extensive monomer-dimer entropy of a random r-regular graph G (bipartite or not) with 2n vertices and the average extensive entropy of r-regular graphs with 2n vertices, in the limit \(n \rightarrow \infty \). We find a series expansion for it in the numbers of cycles; with probability 1 it converges for dimer density \(p < 1\) and, for G bipartite, it diverges as \(|\mathrm{ln}(1-p)|\) for \(p \rightarrow 1\). In the case of regular lattices, we similarly expand the difference between the specific monomer-dimer entropy on a lattice and the one on the Bethe lattice; we write down its Taylor expansion in powers of p through the order 10, expressed in terms of the number of totally reducible walks which are not tree-like. We prove through order 6 that its expansion coefficients in powers of p are non-negative.  相似文献

Entropic Leggett–Garg inequality is studied in systems like neutrinos in the context of two and three flavor neutrino oscillations and in neutral \(B_d\), \(B_s\) and K mesons. The neutrino dynamics is described with the matter effect taken into consideration. For the decohering B / K meson systems, the effect of decoherence and CP violation have also been taken into account, using the techniques of open quantum systems. Enhancement in the violation with increase in the number of measurements has been found, in consistency with findings in spin-s systems. The effect of decoherence is found to bring the deficit parameter \(\mathscr {D}^{[n]}\) closer to its classical value zero, as expected. The violation of entropic Leggett–Garg inequality lasts for a much longer time in K meson system than in \(B_d\) and \(B_s\) systems.  相似文献
