理论研究了平面电磁波通过n型重掺GaAs薄膜的透射谱.当GaAs薄膜两表面刻上亚波长的周期性沟槽结构时,透射谱在中红外波段出现了异常的透射增强现象.把这一现象归因于表面等离子体模式和波导模式的耦合.通过优化结构参数可以得到最大的透射效率.此外,发现随着掺杂浓度的升高,透射谱线中的透射峰逐渐向高频方向移动,最优化后透射峰值随掺杂浓度的升高而逐渐降低.这是由于掺杂浓度的改变,导致了不同的等离子体频率和电子碰撞频率,从而影响了激发模式和薄膜对电磁波的吸收. 关键词: 表面等离子体 掺杂半导体 增强透射 掺杂调制  相似文献

A theory for the first-order Suhl and the parallel pumping instability in thin films is presented. Significant differences for the critical microwave field and wave vector to former calculations occur, which discuss the problem in terms of bulk spin-waves neglecting boundary conditions. A coupling matrixC kk′ is introduced, which describes the couplings between the modes and the driving microwave field. For bulk standing spin-wavesC kk′ is always diagonal. For the true discrete standing modes of a thin filmC kk′ changes only in case of 1. Suhl instability and if the wavevector has a non vanishing component perpendicular to the film plane. Here the diagonal bulk couplings have to be replaced in part by off diagonal terms, describing couplings between modes, which perpendicular wave vector componentk differs byπ/d (d=film thickness). The decisive quantity, which decides if the finite thickness of the film is of importance or if the film can be treated as a bulk system, is the frequency difference δω k of the coupled modes. For δω k much smaller than the spin-wave damping η k the bulk approximation is correct. For \(\delta \omega _k > > \eta _k \) two experimental situations for 1. Suhl instability are discussed: For a perpendicular to the film plane magnetized film the critical microwave field is by π/2 bigger than in the bulk case. In an in-plane magnetized film the critical spin-waves propagate always in the film plane, as only hereC kk′ remains identical to the bulk case.  相似文献

We report on the fabrication and optical properties of thin metal films periodically patterned with square hole arrays of 2 micron pitch, which behave as substrateless plasmonic devices at mid-infrared frequencies. Large (3×3 mm2) meshes were fabricated by metallizing a patterned silicon nitride membrane. The mid-infrared spectra display resonant absorption lines with a Q-factor up to 22 in both transmission and reflection, due to the interaction of the radiation with surface plasmon modes on both faces of the film, allowed by substrate removal. The devices can be used to fabricate surface plasmon-based chemical sensors employing mid-infrared radiation.  相似文献

采用时域有限差分(FDTD)法研究了金膜厚度、电介质折射率及其厚度对金孔阵列电介质与金电介质孔阵列两种结构强透射特性的影响。研究发现这两种结构都具有较好的强透射特性,这表明光与金膜表面自由电子的电荷密度波耦合成表面等离子激元(SPP),对增强透射起到了关键作用。金膜厚度是影响强透射特性的主要因素,其衰减长度为35 nm;而与金膜相邻的电介质膜厚度对强透射特性影响极小。电介质折射率大小对强透射特性影响明显,折射率为1.8时能够获得较好的强透射特性。  相似文献

A theory is presented for the propagation of phonon-polariton modes arising when phonons are coupled to electromagnetic waves in multilayered structures. A multi-layered structure consists of a thin film surrounded symmetrically by a bounding media. Numerical calculations are given for s-polarized phonon-polariton modes in the case where the bounding media are assumed to be semi-infinite layers with nonlinear dielectric functions of ionic crystal type supporting optical phonon modes and the thin film is characterized by a Kerr-type nonlinear dielectric function. The phonon-polaritons were found to have distinct branches characteristic of optical phonons and showing features that are different from those of plasmon-polaritons [S. Baher, M.G. Cottam, Surf. Rev. Lett. 10 (2003) 13]. The parameters that modify the modes are the in-plane wave vector, the thickness of the film, the phonon frequency and the nonlinearity of each layer. It was found that by increasing the film thickness and nonlinearity coefficient, the curves move to the left and the number of the branches increases without changing the pattern of the curves.  相似文献

In the infrared surface electromagnetic waves (SEW) can propagate several centimeters over a metal and some ferroelectrics. Therefore SEW can be used to integrate overlayer surface absorption over very much larger path lengths than in the usual transmission and reflection surface studies. Using a continuum model, we have calculated the surface electromagnetic wave modes for a dielectric slab on a metal against a third (weakly absorbing) medium. Unlike previous treatments, absorption has been included and the absorption expected using the two prism SEW technique has been calculated. For a thick slab (1 mm or more), we show that the absorption coefficient of the slab material can be obtained very simply. For very thin slabs both surface-plasmon-like modes and surface-phonon-like modes (including Fuchs-Kliewer modes) are found. A new parameter Δ1 + 2 is introduced to describe the thin film absorption. It has the physical significance of an effective susceptibility for the metal-coating-overlayer system. Further, its experimental significance is that for the normalized transmission of SEW between two prisms, Δ2 is a dominating parameter which can be measured. For the two prism experiments, numerical examples show 50 percent absorption at peak for a monolayer of CO on Pt and a 4 percent absorption for CuO on copper. Applications to the study of thin films, catalysis, corrosion and other surface problems are anticipated.  相似文献

It is shown that, depending on the incident wave frequency and the system geometry, the extraordinary transmission of light through a metal film perforated by an array of subwavelength holes can be described by one of the three mechanisms: the “transparency window” in the metal, excitation of the Fabry–Perot resonance of a collective mode produced by the hybridization of evanescence modes of the holes and surface plasmons, and excitation of a plasmon on the rear boundary of the film. The excitation of a plasmon resonance on the front boundary of the metal film does not make any substantial contribution to the transmission coefficient, although introduces a contribution to the reflection coefficient.  相似文献

Recently, there has been an increased interest in studying extraordinary optical transmission (EOT) through subwavelength aperture arrays perforated in a metallic film. In this Letter, we report that the transmission of an incident acoustic wave through a one-dimensional acoustic grating can also be drastically enhanced. This extraordinary acoustic transmission (EAT) has been investigated both theoretically and experimentally, showing that the coupling between the diffractive wave and the wave-guide mode plays an important role in EAT. This phenomenon can have potential applications in acoustics and also might provide a better understanding of EOT in optical subwavelength systems.  相似文献

Total and partial density of states, frequency dependent complex refractive index including extinction coefficient, optical conductivity and transmission of MgxZn1−xO (0≤x≤1) in rocksalt and wurtzite phases are calculated using full potential linearized augmented plane wave (FP-LAPW) method. The real part of refractive index decreases while the extinction coefficient, optical conductivity and transmission for rocksalt phase increases with the increase in Mg concentration. In wurtzite phase, ordinary and extraordinary indices decrease while extinction coefficient, optical conductivity and transmission increase in parallel as well as perpendicular to c-axis with the increase in the Mg concentration.  相似文献

This paper presents an analytical and numerical investigation of an intense circularly polarized wave propagating along the static magnetic field parallel to oscillating magnetic field in magnetoactive plasma. In the relativistic regime such a magnetic field is created by pulse itself. The authors have studied different regimes of propagation with relativistic electron mass effect for magnetized plasma. An appropriate expression for dielectric tensor in relativistic magnetoactive plasma has been evaluated under paraxial theory. Two modes of propagation as extraordinary and ordinary exist; because of the relativistic effect, ultra-strong magnetic fields are generated which significantly influence the propagation of laser beam in plasma. The nature of propagation is characterized through the critical-divider curves in the normalized beam width with power plane For given values of normalized density (ωp/ω) and magnetic field (ωc/ω) the regions are namely steady divergence (SD), oscillatory divergence (OD) and self-focusing (SF). Numerical computations are performed for typical parameters of relativistic laser-plasma interaction: magnetic field B = 10-100 MG; intensity I = 1016 to 1020 W/cm2; laser frequency ω = 1.1 × 1015 s−1; cyclotron frequency ωc = 1.7 × 1013 s−1; electron density ne = 2.18 × 1020 cm−3. From the calculations, we confirm that a circularly polarized wave can propagate in different regimes for both the modes, and explicitly indicating enhancement in wave propagation, beam focusing/self-guiding and penetration of E-mode in presence of magnetic field.  相似文献

Here by introducing an I-shape structure to break the symmetry of a thin metallic film, the contributions of Fabry–Perot (FP) resonance-like modes and surface plasmon polariton (SPP) resonance-like are determined. The finite difference-time domain (FDTD) simulation is utilized to provide a clear picture of the electromagnetic field distribution and transmission profile. The FP matrix method is employed to specify the contribution of FP resonance. Some of the predicted resonances of the FP matrix method coincide with the simulation result which is labeled as FP resonance-like modes. The remaining resonance modes in transmission profile are considered as SPP resonance-like modes. Our results provide explicit evidence that both FP resonator modes and SPP resonance are responsible for extraordinary optical transmission (EOT) through a subwavelength aperture.  相似文献

The magnetization of thin films is calculated for low temperatures, taking into account the exchange interaction, an external magnetic field, and the dipole interaction. The calculations are performed within a quantized phenomenological spin wave theory. For thin enough films, within the temperature range considered, only the lowest spin wave band contributes to the decrease of the magnetization. The influence of the dipole interaction is as follows: The magnetization decreases less rapidly with growing temperature than predicted by calculations within the Heisenberg model; the decrease depends considerably on the angle between the magnetization and the film plane; even atT=0K there is a small increase of the magnetization with growing external field.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose an ultra broad band polarizer operating in the telecommunication wavelength band, this device consisting a double groove silicon grating is designed with using the inverse mathematical method and rigorous vector diffraction theory. It is shown from our calculations that the device presents extremely high reflection (R > 95%) for TE polarization light and high transmission (T > 95%) for TM polarization over ∼400 nm wavelength range, moreover, the extinction ratio is ∼30 in the central wavelength 1550 nm. Furthermore, it is found with rigorous coupled wave analysis (RCWA) that the extremely wide band property for TE polarization is due to the excitation of strong modulation guided modes in the design wavelength range.  相似文献

The problem of pore formation during the propagation of Xe+q ions with energies of around 50 keV and charges q = 20–54 through an ultrathin carbon film is discussed. The results from calculations suggest that pore formation can be attributed to the perforation of part of a bombarded film by the moving wave packet of a xenon ion with a sufficiently high charge.  相似文献

We analyze wall-vibration modes for the case of plane parallel stripe domains in a uniaxial film whose easy axis is normal to the film plane, using Landau-Lifshitz equations carried to the limit of vanishing wall thickness. We take into account long-range dipole interactions and wall-moment twist due to stray fields from magnetic charges on the film surfaces. The small-amplitude wall displacement q(k, z) depends on the position coordinate z normal to the film plane, and on a two dimensional wave vector k parallel to the film plane. Numerically computed natural frequencies vn(k) depend on the number of nodes n(=0, 1, 2 …) in the dependence of q on z. Surface and bulk modes are distinguished by the z-dependence of computed eigenmodes qn(k, z). The spectrum of computed natural frequencies compares favorably with available experimental data.  相似文献

Subwavelength structures hybridized with slits and grooves in metallic films exhibit extraordinary optical properties for manipulation of light. A Green method is developed to investigate the wave coupling physics in the hybrid subwavelength structures, while source-image arrangement in bounded spaces is employed to obtain the Green's functions for the hybrid units. We find that secondary imaging is induced at a horizontal boundary to provide an inward wave propagation mechanism to couple the wave scattered by groove back into slit. Sophisticated self-consistent framework derived from our method that involves the wave couplings is then developed to study the physics origin of the extraordinary optical properties. The case of a slit in a metal film with patterned grooves on the output side for beaming and that of a two-layer metal film with indented double slit for beyond-limit focusing are analyzed. Our Green method, which automatically includes the Fourier high-order modes, is concise in formulation and thus yields accurate solutions. Explicit analytical models are rigorously developed to address wave coupling physics problems in subwavelength structure.  相似文献

The interaction between an H wave and a thin metal film is calculated in the case of different values of the angle of incidence θ of the wave and reflectance coefficients q 1 and q 2 upon reflection of electrons from the surface of a thin metal layer. The behavior of the reflection, transmission, and absorption coefficients is analyzed as a function of the dimensionless frequency of bulk collisions of electrons X and dimensionless frequency of the external field y. The optical modes in a dielectric slab are considerably changed by replacing the dielectric medium on one side of the slab by a metal. In particular, the TH mode m = 0 shows the behavior of a surface plasma wave. The modes were excited in a reflection experiment by the use of prism film coupling in an Al-LiF-air system, the results are in satisfactory agreement with theory.  相似文献

The optical Freedericksz transition in a homeotropic nematic liquid crystal cell is modeled using a solver which combines direct solution of Maxwell’s equations with a relaxation algorithm for the liquid crystal director. We find that even in the equal elastic constant case the continuous optical Freedericksz transition can be driven first order. For films in which the optical retardation of the extraordinary wave is sufficiently large, a whole set of discontinuous jumps in transmission coefficient can occur. These jumps correspond to the existence of optical resonances in the liquid crystal film. Our results agree in the short wavelength limit with paraxial approximation calculations, and provide a strong test of the FDTD method for anisotropic materials such as liquid crystals.  相似文献
