18Ni-maraging steel has been entirely nanocrystallized by a series of processes including solution treatment, hot-rolling deformation, cold-drawn deformation and direct electric heating. The plasma nitriding of nanocrystallized 18Ni-maraging steel was carried out at 410 °C for 3 h and 6 h in a mixture gas of 20% N2 + 80% H2 with a pressure of 400 Pa. The surface phase constructions and nitrogen concentration profile in surface layer were analyzed using an X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and the glow discharge spectrometry (GDS), respectively. The results show that an about 2 μm thick compound layer (mono-phase γ′-Fe4N) can be produced on the top of the surface layer of nanocrystallized 18Ni-maraging steel plasma nitrided at 410 °C for 6 h. The measured hardness value of the nitrided surface is 11.6 GPa. More importantly, the γ′-Fe4N phase has better plasticity, i.e., its plastic deformation energy calculated from the load-displacement curve obtained by nano-indentation tester is close to that of nanocrystallized 18Ni-maraging steel. Additionally, the mechanical properties of γ′-Fe4N phase were also characterized by first-principles calculations. The calculated results indicate that the hardness value and the ratio of bulk to shear modulus (B/G) of the γ′-Fe4N phase are 10.15 GPa and 3.12 (>1.75), respectively. This demonstrates that the γ′-Fe4N phase has higher hardness and better ductility.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

A single-phase fcc high-entropy alloy (HEA) of 20%Cr–40%Fe–20%Mn–20%Ni composition and its strength with yttrium and zirconium oxides version was irradiated with 1.4?MeV Ar ions at room temperature and mid-range doses from 0.1 to 10 displacements per atom (dpa). Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning transmission electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (STEM/EDS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to characterise the radiation defects and microstructural changes. Nanoindentation was used to measure the ion irradiation effect on hardening. In order to understand the irradiation effects in HEAs and to demonstrate their potential advantages, a comparison was performed with hardening behaviour of 316 austenitic stainless steel irradiated under an identical condition. It was shown that hardness increases with irradiation dose for all the materials studied, but this increase is lower in high-entropy alloys than in stainless steel.  相似文献

A new plasma oxynitrocarburizing process in an air and gasoline atmosphere was developed. The influences of the atmosphere with different ratios of gasoline/air on the microstructure, surface hardness, and phase composition of 40Cr steel were characterized using optical microscope, scanning electron microscope (SEM), microhardness tester, and X-ray diffractometer (XRD), respectively. The experimental results showed that the plasma oxynitrocarburized layer was composed of bright layer and diffusion layer. It was found that the thickness, hardness, and Fe3N concentration of the plasma oxynitrocarburized layer increased with the increment of ratio of gasoline/air.  相似文献

This paper presents a laser surface modification process of AISI H13 tool steel using 0.09, 0.2 and 0.4 mm size of laser spot with an aim to increase hardness properties. A Rofin DC-015 diffusion-cooled CO2 slab laser was used to process AISI H13 tool steel samples. Samples of 10 mm diameter were sectioned to 100 mm length in order to process a predefined circumferential area. The parameters selected for examination were laser peak power, overlap percentage and pulse repetition frequency (PRF). X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) was conducted to measure crystallinity of the laser-modified surface. X-ray diffraction patterns of the samples were recorded using a Bruker D8 XRD system with Cu?K α (λ=1.5405 Å) radiation. The diffraction patterns were recorded in the 2θ range of 20 to 80°. The hardness properties were tested at 981 mN force. The laser-modified surface exhibited reduced crystallinity compared to the un-processed samples. The presence of martensitic phase was detected in the samples processed using 0.4 mm spot size. Though there was reduced crystallinity, a high hardness was measured in the laser-modified surface. Hardness was increased more than 2.5 times compared to the as-received samples. These findings reveal the phase source of the hardening mechanism and grain composition in the laser-modified surface.  相似文献

Nitriding of AISI 303 austenitic stainless steel using microwave plasma system at various temperatures was conducted in the present study. The nitrided layers were characterized via scanning electron microscopy, glancing angle X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and Vickers microhardness tester. The antibacterial properties of this nitrided layer were evaluated. During nitriding treatment between 350 °C and 550 °C, the phase transformation sequence on the nitrided layers of the alloys was found to be γ → (γ + γN) → (γ + α + CrN). The analytical results revealed that the surface hardness of AISI 303 stainless steel could be enhanced with the formation of γN phase in nitriding process. Antibacterial test also demonstrated the nitrided layer processed the excellent antibacterial properties. The enhanced surface hardness and antibacterial properties make the nitrided AISI 303 austenitic stainless steel to be one of the essential materials in the biomedical applications.  相似文献

A series of TiSixNy superhard coatings with different Si contents were prepared on M42 steel substrates using two Ti and two Si targets by reactive magnetron sputtering at 500 °C. These samples were subsequently vacuum-annealed at 500, 600, 700, 800 and 900 °C, respectively. X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), microindenter, Rockwell hardness tester and scratch tester were applied to investigate the microstructure, phase configuration, hardness and adhesion properties of as-deposited and annealed samples. The results indicated that there were two bonds, TiN and Si3N4, in all presently deposited TiSixNy thin films, that structure was nanocomposite of nanocrystalline (nc-) TiN embedded into amorphous Si3N4 matrices. Annealing treatment below 900 °C played a little role in microstructure and hardness of the coatings although it greatly affected those of steel substrates. The film-substrate adhesion strength was slightly increased, followed by an abrupt decrease with increasing annealing temperature. Its value got to the maximum at 600 °C. Annealing had little effect on the friction coefficient with its value varying in the range of 0.39-0.40.  相似文献

Abstract

A high sensitivity CCD based two dimensional angle dispersive X-ray are a detector has been developed for quick detection of pressure induced phase transitions for a laboratory X-ray source such as a rotating anode generator. The performance of this detector was tested by successfully carrying out powder X-ray diffraction measurements on element Pd, intermetallics AuIn2, AuGa2 and low Z scatterer adamantane (C10Hl6) at ambient conditions. Its utility for quick detection of phase transitions at high pressures with diamond anvil cell (DAC) is demonstrated by reproducing the known pressure induced structural phase transitions in RbI and KI. The importance of this detector system in search of unknown phase transitions has been established by observing new structural phase transitions in In0.25Sn0.75 and AuGa2. Various softwares have also been developed such as interactive location of centre of diffraction rings, radial integration and image enhancement to analyze data from this detector.  相似文献

Abstract

The proposed diagram is based on the results of high-pressure X-ray diffraction work and visualizes the general trends in phase relations of actinide metals under pressure. The transition from dhcp to ccp, which occurs under the action of pressure in heavy actinides and light lanthanides, also occurs with decreasing atomic number at ambient pressure. The same structural sequence is found in the lanthanide and the actinide metals, but its first two members, hcp and Sm-type, are missing in the actinide metals, and the phase transitions are shifted to lower pressures and higher atomic numbers in the actinides.  相似文献

The atomic order in low-carbon steel strained by screw extrusion making the microstructure finer and changing the phase ratio in the material is studied by X-ray diffraction analysis. The steel is found to consist of multiscale structural fractions: a finely crystalline (300–600 Å) α-Fe matrix, nanodimensional (180–250 Å) Fe3C and Fe3Si or Fe5Si3 phases, and a fraction with randomly arranged atoms. A second-order order-disorder phase transition is revealed with order prevailing in the longitudinal (‖) section of the samples and disorder prevailing in their cross (⊥) section. Sets of “extended” and “compressed” planes are found to coexist in the structure for the first time, with extended planes prevailing in the (‖) section and compressed planes prevailing in the (⊥) one.  相似文献

Abstract

High-pressure structural transition and volume compression for thallium were investigated to 45 GPa in a diamond anvil cell using the angular dispersive X-ray diffraction technique. Except for the known polymorphic transition at 3.7 GPa, no other structural change was observed in this pressure range. The equation of state of the high pressure phase has been obtained: its initial bulk modulus, B0 = 33.1 GPa, is lower by 10% than that of the hexagonal phase at normal pressure.  相似文献

Abstract

The structural behaviour of Pm metal has been investigated up to 60 GPa of pressure using a Diamond Anvil Cell (DAC) and the energy dispersive X-ray diffraction technique. The room temperature/pressure structural form of Pm is dhcp and it transforms to a fcc phase by 10 GPa. This cubic phase of the metal converts by 18 GPa to a third phase, which has frequently been referred to as representing a distorted fcc structure. This latter form of Pm was retained up to 60 GPa, the maximum pressure studied, but subtle changes in the X-ray spectra between 50 and 60 GPa hinted that an additional structural change could be forthcoming at higher pressures. From the experimental data a bulk modulus (B0) of 38 GPa and a B0′ constant of 1.5 were calculated using the Birch equation. This modulus for Pm is in accord with the moduli reported for the neighboring lanthanide metals.  相似文献

Mg0.54Zn0.46Fe2O4 ferrites are studied by X-ray diffraction, and different-scale structural groups with short-range, mesoscopic, and long-range atomic orders are revealed in them. These groups are shown to undergo interrelated order-disorder-order phase transitions during high-temperature annealing at 1280°C for 0.5–8.0 h, which are accompanied by maximum changes in the structural parameters.

Dispersible SiO2 nanoparticles were co-deposited with electroless Ni-P coating onto AISI-1045 steel substrates in the absence of any surfactants in plating bath. The resulting Ni-P/nano-SiO2 composite coatings were heat-treated for 1 h at 200 °C, 400 °C, and 600 °C, respectively. The hardness and wear resistance of the heat-treated composite coatings were measured. Moreover, the structural changes of the composite coatings before and after heat treatment were investigated by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), while their elemental composition and morphology were analyzed using an energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS) and a scanning electron microscope (SEM). Results show that co-deposited SiO2 particles contributed to increase the hardness and wear resistance of electroless Ni-P coating, and the composite coating heat-treated at about 400 °C had the maximum hardness and wear resistance.  相似文献

CrNx films were deposited on stainless steel and Si (1 1 1) substrates via medium frequency magnetron sputtering in a N2 + Ar mixed atmosphere. The influence of N2 content on the deposition rate, composition, microstructure, mechanical and tribological properties of the as-deposited films was investigated by means of the X-ray photoelectron spectrometry (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM), nanoindentation and tribometer testing. It was found that the N atomic concentration increased and the phase transformed from a mixture of Cr2N + Cr(N) to single-phase Cr2N, and then Cr2N + CrN to pure CrN phase with the increase of N2 content. The Cr 2p3/2 and N 1s of XPS spectra also confirmed the evolution of phase. Accordingly, all films exhibited a typical columnar structure which lies in the zone T of Thornton Model. The mixed Cr2N and Cr(N) phases showed low hardness and high friction coefficient. Cr2N possessed higher hardness than CrN while CrN exhibited lower friction coefficient.  相似文献

Abstract

By means of high-angle double-crystal X-ray diffractometry (HADOX), the thermal expansivity of KMnF3 has been determined. The linear thermal expansion coefficient along each crystallographic axis exhibits a divergent anomaly at the structural phase transition at 186 K. The critical exponents of these coefficients are determined: in the cubic phase α = 0.21 ± 3, and in the tetragonal phase α′ = 0.19 ± 3 for the a axis and α″ = 0.35 ± 3 for the c axis.

In addition, the critical exponent of the spontaneous strain, c/a ? 1, is determined to be 0.4248 ± 8, which is smaller than that of the order parameter 2β = 0.5714 ± 12. These values are reasonable if the transition occurs in the vicinity of a tricritical point.  相似文献

The structural state in nanoscaled SiO2 is probed experimentally via X-ray diffraction and the simulation method. The aerosil nanoparticles and nanoparticles synthesized via the electron beam evaporation are compared. The nanoparticles for all samples are shown to be in the amorphous state. The amorphous state of a SiO2 unit lattice is simulated via the molecular dynamics. The full-profile refinement of parameters for a simulated SiO2 phase (the Rietveld method) has allowed the complete structural information to be established at varying the specific surface. The unit cell parameters, the spatial atomic distribution and the degree of cell node occupation are determined, as well. The specific surface area is shown to decrease in aerosil nanoparticles and to increase in tarkosil nanoparticles with the increasing binding energy of atoms in a cell.
