We study the Kondo screening of a spin-1/2 magnetic impurity coupled to a superconductor, which is fabricated by combination of an s-wave superconductor, a ferromagnet and a semiconductor with Rashba spin—orbit coupling (RSOC). The proximity induced superconducting states include the s-wave and p-wave pairing components with the aids of RSOC, and the ferromagnet induces a Zeeman field which removes the spin degeneracy of the quasiparticles in the triplet states. Thus, the Kondo screening of magnetic impurity involves the orbital degrees of freedom, and is also affected by the Zeeman field. Using the variational method, we calculate the binding energy and the spin—spin correlation between the magnetic impurity and the electrons in the coexisting s-wave and p-wave pairing states. We find that Kondo singlet forms more easily with stronger RSOC, but Zeeman field in general decreases the binding energy. The spin—spin correlation decays fast in the vicinity of the magnetic impurity. Due to the RSOC, the spatial spin—spin correlation becomes highly anisotropic, and the Zeeman field can induce extra asymmetry to the off-diagonal components of the spin—spin correlation. Our study can offer some insights into the studies of extrinsic topological superconductors fabricated from the hybrid structures containing chains of magnetic impurities.  相似文献

We investigate the effects due to anisotropy and magnetic field interaction for a quasi-two-dimensional Boltzmann gas in an elliptical parabolic quantum dot. The specific heat is studied with varying temperature, anisotropy, and magnetic field strength. The cases without and with the inclusion of the spin Zeeman interaction are considered.  相似文献

We investigate theoretically the coherent spin dynamics of gate control of quantum dot-based electron spin–orbit qubits subjected to a tilted magnetic field under electric-dipole spin resonance (EDSR). Our results reveal that Rabi oscillation of qubit states can be manipulated electrically based on rapid gate control of SOC strength. The Rabi frequency is strongly dependent on the gate-induced electric field, the strength and orientation of the applied magnetic field. There are two major EDSR mechanisms. One arises from electric field-induced spin–orbit hybridization, and the other arises from magnetic field-induced energy-level crossing. The SOC introduced by the gate-induced electric field allows AC electric fields to drive coherent Rabi oscillations between spin-up and -down states. After the crossing of the energy-levels with the magnetic field, the spin-transfer crossing results in Rabi oscillation irrespective of whether or not the external electric field is present. The spin–orbit qubit is transferred into the orbit qubit. Rabi oscillation is anisotropic and periodic with respect to the tilted and in-plane orientation of the magnetic field originating from the interplay of the SOC, orbital, and Zeeman effects. The strong electrically-controlled SOC strength suggests the possibility for scalable applications of gate-controllable spin–orbit qubits.  相似文献

The effect of a high magnetic field on the electronic structure of HTSC cuprates is considered. The study is performed in the t-t′-t″-J* model, and the high magnetic field effect is taken into account not only as the Zeeman splitting of the one-electron levels, but also in the occupation numbers of the states with different spin projections and in the formation of the spin correlation functions. The field is assumed to be high enough to align all of the spins along the field. As a result, the Fermi surface reconstruction is obtained from four hole pockets about the nodal point (π/2, π/2) in the paramagnetic phase to a large hole pocket about the point (π, π) in the ferromagnetic phase. As the magnetic field strength decreases, a number of quantum phase transitions are revealed; they are manifested in the changed Fermi surface topology. The Fermi surface reconstruction with a decreasing field is qualitatively the same as that with an increasing doping degree in the absence of a magnetic field.  相似文献

We show that in the metallic phase of a two dimensional electron gas the spin-orbit coupling due to structure inversion asymmetry leads to a characteristic anisotropy in the magnetoconductance. Within the assumption that the metallic phase can be described by a Fermi liquid, we compute the conductivity in the presence of an in-plane magnetic field. Both the spin-orbit coupling and the Zeeman coupling with the magnetic field give rise to two spin subbands, in terms of which most of the transport properties can be discussed. The strongest conductivity anisotropy occurs for Zeeman energies of the order of the Fermi energy corresponding to the depopulation of the upper spin subband. The energy scale associated with the spin-orbit coupling controls the strength of the effect. More in particular, we find that the detailed behavior and the sign of the anisotropy depends on the underlying scattering mechanism. Assuming small angle scattering to be the dominant scattering mechanism our results agree with recent measurement on Si-MOSFET's in the vicinity of the metal-insulator transition. The effect of a magnetic field on a spinor exciton-polariton condensate has been investigated. A quenching of a polariton Zeeman splitting and an elliptical polarization of the condensate have been observed at low magnetic fields B<2 T. The effects are attributed to a competition between the magnetic field induced circular polarization buildup and the spin-anisotropic polariton-polariton interaction which favors a linear polarization. The sign of the circular polarization of the condensate emission at B<3 T is negative, suggesting that a dynamic condensation in the excited spin state rather than the ground spin state takes place in this magnetic field range. From about 2T on, the Zeeman splitting opens and from then on the slope of the circular polarization degree changes its sign. For magnetic fields larger than the 3 T, the upper spin state occupation is energetically suppressed and circularly polarized condensation takes place in the ground state.  相似文献

We present a systematic theoretical study, based on the Kane–Weiler 8×8 k·p model, of the linear Zeeman splitting introduced by the interaction between the angular momentum and the magnetic field which can give a measure of the non-linear Zeeman effect associated with interband coupling and diamagnetic contributions. The conduction and valence bands g-factors are calculated for InSb spherical and semi-spherical quantum dots. The calculations of the g-factors showed an almost linear dependence, for the ground state, on the magnetic field. We have also found that the strong magnetic field dependence as well as the dependence on the dot size of the effective spin splitting can be unambiguously attributed to the strength of the inter-level mixing.  相似文献

We study conductance and adiabatic pumped charge and spin currents in a graphene quantum pump with Corbino geometry in the presence of an applied perpendicular magnetic field. Pump is driven by the periodic and out of phase modulations of the magnetic field and an electrostatic potential applied to the ring area of the pump. We show that Zeeman splitting, despite its smallness, suppresses conductance and pumped current oscillations at zero doping. Moreover, quite considerable spin conductance and pumped spin current are generated at low dopings due to Zeeman splitting. We find that pumped charge and spin currents increase by increasing the magnetic field, with small oscillations, until they are suppressed due to the effect of nonzero doping and Zeeman splitting.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

We theoretically investigated the influences of the magnetic field and light polarisation on the electronic and optical properties of a GaAs/GaAlAs pseudo-elliptic quantum ring, modelled by an outer ellipsis and an inner circle, in the presence of the Rashba and Dresselhaus spin–orbit interactions and Zeeman effect. We show that Aharonov-Bohm oscillations of the energy spectrum are not affected by the presence of the Zeeman effect alone but, in the presence of Rashba and Dresselhaus spin–orbit couplings, the periodicity of certain levels becomes hardly definite. The Zeeman effect generally enhances/diminishes the separation levels produced by Rashba/Dresselhaus interactions (SOI) and when both types of SOI are considered, the effect depends on their relative strength. The magnetic field can trigger spin-flip for each type of spin–orbit interaction and Zeeman effect or their combination through anticrossings in the energy spectra. Our results reveal that the absorption spectra are very sensitive to the magnetic field and light polarisation. For all polarisations considered, the magnetic field increment leads to the redshift or blueshift of some particular peaks (an effect of this ring geometry) and a better separation of the peaks. The x-polarised light determines spectra with many small, but separated peaks while the circular polarised light leads to spectra with large peaks of high amplitude.  相似文献

The Kondo lattice model, augmented by a Zeeman term, serves as a useful model of a Kondo insulator in an applied magnetic field. A variational mean field analysis of this system on a square lattice, backed up by quantum Monte Carlo calculations, reveals an interesting separation of magnetic field scales. For Zeeman energy comparable to the Kondo energy, the spin gap closes and the system develops transverse staggered magnetic order. The charge gap, however, remains robust up to a higher hybridization energy scale, at which point the canted antiferromagnetism is exponentially suppressed and the system crosses over to a nearly metallic regime. Quantum Monte Carlo simulations support this mean field scenario. An interesting rearrangement of spectral weight with magnetic field is found.  相似文献

We present a theoretical study of atom-molecule collisions in superimposed electric and magnetic fields and show that dynamics of electronic spin relaxation in molecules at temperatures below 0.5 K can be manipulated by varying the strength and the relative orientation of the applied fields. The mechanism of electric field control of Zeeman transitions is based on an intricate interplay between intramolecular spin-rotation couplings and molecule-field interactions. We suggest that electric fields may affect chemical reactions through inducing nonadiabatic spin transitions and facilitate evaporative cooling of molecules in a magnetic trap.  相似文献

Equilibrium heat relaxation experiments provide evidence that the ground state of the commensurate spin-density-wave compound (TMTTF)2Br after the application of a sufficient magnetic field is different from the conventional ground state. The experiments are interpreted on the basis of the local model of strong pinning as the deconfinement of soliton-antisoliton pairs triggered by the Zeeman coupling to spin degrees of freedom, resulting in a magnetic-field-induced density-wave glass for the spin carrying the phase configuration.  相似文献

We study the spin edge states, induced by the combined effect of Bychkov-Rashba spinorbit and Zeeman interactions or of Dresselhaus spin-orbit and Zeeman interactions in a twodimensional electron system, exposed to a perpendicular quantizing magnetic field and restricted by a hard-wall confining potential. We derive an exact analytical formula for the dispersion relations of spin edge states and analyze their energy spectrum versus the momentum and the magnetic field. We calculate the average spin components and the average transverse position of electron. It is shown that by removing the spin degeneracy, spin-orbit interaction splits the spin edge states not only in the energy but also induces their spatial separation. Depending on the type of spin-orbit coupling and the principal quantum number, the Zeeman term in the combination with spin-orbit interaction increases or decreases essentially the splitting of bulk Landau levels while it has a weak influence on the spin edge states.  相似文献

The spin configuration of the ground state of a two-dimensional electron system is investigated for different FQHE states from an analysis of circular polarization of time-resolved luminescence. The method clearly distinguishes between fully spin polarized, partially spin polarized and spin unpolarized FQHE ground states. We demonstrate that FQHE states which are spin unpolarized or partially polarized at low magnetic fields become fully spin polarized at high fields. Temperature dependence of the spin polarization reveals a nonmonotonic behavior at . At and the electron system is found to be fully spin polarized. This result does not indicate the existence of any skyrmionic excitations in high magnetic field limit. However, at the observed spin depolarization of electron system at and becomes broader for lower magnetic fields, so that full spin polarization remains only in a small vicinity of . Such a behavior could be considered as a precursor of skirmionic depolarization, which would dominate for smaller ratios between Zeeman and Coulomb energies. We demonstrate that the spin polarization of 2D-electron system at and can be strongly affected by hyperfine interaction between electrons and optically spin-oriented nuclears. This result is due to the fact that hyperfine interaction can both enhance and suppress effective Zeeman splitting in fixed external magnetic field.  相似文献

Motivated by a recent magnetization reversal experiment on a TbFeCo thin film, we study a topological excitation in the anisotropic nonlinear sigma model together with the Zeeman and magnetic dipole-dipole interactions. Dipole-dipole interactions turn a ferromagnet into a frustrated spin system, which allows a nontrivial spin texture such as a giant Skyrmion. We derive an analytic formula for the Skyrmion radius. The radius is controllable by the external magnetic field. It is intriguing that a Skyrmion may have already been observed as a magnetic domain. A salient feature is that a single Skyrmion can be created or destroyed experimentally. An analysis is made also on Skyrmions in chiral magnets.  相似文献

We present the experimental observation of a magnetically tuned resonance phenomenon in the spin mixing dynamics of ultracold atomic gases. In particular, we study the magnetic field dependence of spin conversion in F=2 (87)Rb spinor condensates in the crossover from interaction dominated to quadratic Zeeman dominated dynamics. We discuss the observations in the framework of spin dynamics as well as matter wave four wave mixing. Furthermore, we show that the validity range of the single mode approximation for spin dynamics is significantly extended at high magnetic field.  相似文献

We investigate mesoscopic transport through a system that consists of a central quantum dot (QD) and two single-wall carbon nanotube (SWCN) leads in the presence of a rotating magnetic field. The spin-flip effect is induced by the rotating magnetic field, and the tunnelling current is sensitively related to the spin-flip effect. We present the calculations of charge and spin current components to show the intimate relations to the SWCN leads. Zeeman effect is important when the applied magnetic field is strong enough. The current characteristics are quite different when the source-drain bias is zero (eV=0) and nonzero (eV≠0). The asymmetric peak and valley of spin current versus gate voltage exhibit Fano resonance. Multi-resonant peaks of spin current versus photon energy ħω reflect the structure of CN quantum wires, as well as the resonant photon absorption and emission effect. The matching-mismatching of channels in the CN leads and QD results in novel spin current structure by tuning the frequency.  相似文献

Faraday rotation of a laser beam and emission spectroscopy to resolve Zeeman splitting provide information about the plasma magnetic field, integrated along the line of sight. Information about the local magnetic field strength can be obtained using a dye laser tuned off the center of an atomic or ionic transition by an amount δλz. If the absorption linewidth of the transition probed is less than the Zeeman splitting, only those atoms/ions residing in a magnetic field where the Zeeman splitting is δλz will resonantly absorb energy from the laser and fluoresce. The feasibility of this magnetic field contour technique was studied in a low-pressure neon discharge. A conductor insulated from the discharge generated a large magnetic field in the discharge free of the Stark broadening effects associated with large plasma currents. The laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) intensity profile measured along the laser beams had peaks at those spatial locations where local magnetic fields, inferred from the conductor current, agreed with the Zeeman shifted wavelength of the laser  相似文献
