Phase locking for two ytterbium-doped large-core fiber lasers has been demonstrated by using a selfimaging confocal resonator with a spatial filter. Steady high-contrast interference stripes are observed.The visibilities of coherent and incoherent stripes are 59% and 6%, respectively. The measured width of the central strip is in good agreement with the calculated result. For in-phase mode, the output power of the phase-locked fiber laser array is up to 113 W and corresponding slope efficiency is 38.5%.  相似文献

Multi-coupler side-pumped Yb-doped double-clad fiber laser   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4  
The side-coupler of angle polished method, using angle-polished multimode fiber and optical adhesive, is used to efficiently pump an Yb-doped double-clad fiber laser. The maximum coupling efficiency of 78.6% is achieved by the side-coupler for a multimode fiber with a circular core of 200μm and a double-clad fiber with a 350/400μm D-shaped inner cladding. While laser diodes (LDs) with three side-couplers are simultaneously used as pump sources, maximum output power of 1.38 W and slope efficiency of 48.9% are demonstrated in the fiber laser system.  相似文献

The material dispersion of a tapered fiber is described by Sellmeier's equation. The dependence of refractive index on wavelength and doping concentration is discussed. A He-Ne laser with the output wavelength of 632.8 nm is used in the experiment. When the cutoff frequency of the fiber is less than the laser frequency, the guiding modes of a singl~-mode fiber (at 1550 am) are investigated. The results show that the original single-mode fiber becomes a multi-mode waveguide. The propagation and mode coupling of the light in the taper region are analyzed. By controlling the taper end size of the fiber, the unique tapered fiber can convert a multi-mode beam into a single-mode one.  相似文献

High-power operation of diode-pumped fiber lasers at wavelength near 2 μm are demonstrated with short length of heavily Tm^3+-doped silica glass fibers. With 7-cm long fiber, a laser at near 2 μm is obtained with the threshold of 135 mW, maximum output power of 1.09 W, and slope efficiency of 9.6% with respect to the launched power from a laser diode at 790 nm. The output stability of this fiber laser is within 5%. The dependence of the performance of fiber lasers on the operation temperature and cavity configuration parameters is also investigated.  相似文献

A novel fabrication method of multi-core photonic crystal fibers is proposed on the basis of a fiber-embedded technique. A taper tower is used to modify the structures of the fiber preform, and four steps of fiber fabrication and different structures of fiber samples are given. The mode structures and beating characteristics of a photonic crystal fiber sample with two successive cores are investigated in detail with the help of a supercontinuum light source, a charge-coupled device (CCD) camera, and an optical spectrum analyzer. The test results show a clear beating phenomenon between two orthotropic polarization modes with a 2.8-nm peak interval in wavelength.  相似文献

We design custom-shaped modes for a sixfold symmetric photonic quasi-crystal fiber (PQF), an optical fiber with a sixfold symmetric quasi-periodic array of air holes in the cladding region. The supermodes of the PQF are calculated by the finite element method, and the coupling of an in-phase supermode for the quasi-periodic optical fiber is numerically optimized to obtain identical values. The optimization is guaranteed by the selection of appropriate PQF design parameters. The eigenvalue equation associated with a seven-core PQF is derived from a coupled mode equation. We realize mode shaping and provide the far-field distribution mode of PQFs. The results are beneficial for the structural design and uniform distribution of the in-phase supermodes of PQFs.  相似文献

<正>The dispersion of Yb-doped fiber is measured by a spectral interferometric technique.The experimental verification is achieved by comparing the measured data with published data of the Nufern 1060xp fiber and the measurement relative error is 1.36%.The parameters of the experimental system,such as minimum required source bandwidth and minimum fiber length,are introduced and analyzed in the measurement. The minimum required source bandwidth predicted through theoretical calculation at the center wavelength of 1070 nm is 19.3 nm,which perfectly agrees with the experimental value.  相似文献

Theoretical and experimental studies of the influence of the mode competition on the output beam quality of fiber amplifiers are presented. Rate equations and modal decomposition method are used in the theoretical model. In the experiment, the output beam-quality factor of a fiber amplifier, which is based on a Yb-doped double-clad large mode area fiber as a function of the seed beam quality and the pump power of the amplifier, is measured. The experimental results are consistent with the theoretical analysis.  相似文献

This paper explores the possibility of realizing a hollow-core optical fiber, whose cladding is composed of cylindrical alternating layers of air and high-index material with supporting structure. The optical properties and the design criteria of the proposed fiber are evaluated by the compact two-dimensional (2D) finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. In particular, the influence of the number and width of supporting strips on the leakage loss of the fiber is investigated. Furthermore, the mechanical performances of the fiber are estimated by finite-element method, confirming that hollow-core fibers with a reasonable size and number of supporting strips are reliable.  相似文献
