We analyse the transport properties of a coupled double quantum dot (DQD) device with one of the dots (QD1) coupled to metallic leads and the other (QD2) embedded in an Aharonov-Bhom (A-B) ring by means of the slaveboson mean-field theory. It is found that in this system, the Kondo resonance and the Fano interference exist simultaneously, the enhancing Kondo effect and the increasing hopping of the QD2-Ring destroy the localized electron state in the QD2 for the QD1-leads, and accordingly, the Fano interference between the DQD-leads and the QD1-leads are suppressed. Under some conditions, the Fano interference can be quenched fully and the single Kondo resonance of the QD1-leads comes into being. Moreover, when the magnetic flux of the A-B ring is zero, the influence of the parity of the A-B ring on the transport properties is very weak, but this influence becomes more obvious with non-zero magnetic flux. Thus this model may be a candidate for future device applications.  相似文献

The possibility of providing for a quantum control of electron states by means of a weak electric field (constant or alternating) acting upon a system is studied in a nondissipative approximation for a system of two electrons in a double quantum dot (QD) under Coulomb blocking conditions. It is shown that the Coulomb repulsion facilitates controlled transition of the system from a symmetric (one electron in each QD) to asymmetric (both electrons in one QD) electron configuration under the action of a resonance alternating field or a slowly varying (quasi-constant) field. In the absence of Coulomb repulsion, two electrons can be localized in the same QD only under the action of a strong electric field.  相似文献

We fabricate and characterize a novel vertical pillar structure including a self-assembled InAs quantum dot (QD) and an InGaAs quantum well (QW). The vertical current through both the InAs QD and an electrostatically defined QD made in the InGaAs QW can be measured by adjusting the position of the InGaAs QD in the QW plane relative to the InAs QD with two side-gate voltages applied independently. We study optical response of the current through the vertical double QD by irradiating light, which is assumed to be mainly absorbed in the InAs QDs. We successfully probe a time-dependent energy level shift due to the Coulomb interaction from holes trapped in the vicinity of the pillar.  相似文献

We study theoretically the full counting statistics of electron transport through side-coupled double quantum dot (QD) based on an efficient particle-number-resolved master equation. It is demonstrated that the high-order cumulants of transport current are more sensitive to the quantum coherence than the average current, which can be used to probe the quantum coherence of the considered double QD system. Especially, quantum coherence plays a crucial role in determining whether the super-Poissonian noise occurs in the weak inter-dot hopping coupling regime depending on the corresponding QD-lead coupling, and the corresponding values of super-Poissonian noise can be relatively enhanced when considering the spins of conduction electrons. Moreover, this super-Poissonian noise bias range depends on the singly-occupied eigenstates of the system, which thus suggests a tunable super-Poissonian noise device. The occurrence-mechanism of super-Poissonian noise can be understood in terms of the interplay of quantum coherence and effective competition between fast-and-slow transport channels.  相似文献

Dynamic storage and retrieval of a weak infrared (IR)-light pulse are investigated theoretically with feasible parameters in an asymmetric double quantum dot system, a quantum dot molecule (QDM). It is shown that, with a voltage-controlled tunneling, we are able to store and retrieve the IR signal pulse in this three-subband QDM medium by slowly switching off and on the tunneling. The scheme proposed may open up the electrical controllability of quantum optical information storage and retrieval, which is expected to be useful in quantum information science in an asymmetric double quantum dot controlled by voltage.  相似文献

We propose a scheme to realize coherent quantum information transfer between topological and conventional charge qubits. We first consider a hybrid system where a quantum dot(QD) is tunnel-coupled to a semiconductor Majorana-hosted nanowire(MNW) via using gated control as a switch, the information encoded in the superposition state of electron empty and occupied state can be transferred to each other through choosing the proper interaction time to make measurements. Then we consider another system including a double QDs and a pair of parallel MNWs, it is shown that the entanglement information transfer can be realized between the two kinds of systems. We also realize long distance quantum information transfer between two quantum dots separated by an MNW, by making use of the nonlocal fermionic level formed with the pared Majorana feimions(MFs) emerging at the two ends of the MNW. Furthermore, we analyze the teleportationlike electron transfer phenomenon predicted by Tewari et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 100, 027001(2008)] in our considered system.Interestingly, we find that this phenomenon exactly corresponds to the case that the information encoded in one QD just returns back to its original place during the dynamical evolution of the combined system from the perspective of quantum state transfer.  相似文献

Radiationless relaxation in hybrid systems quantum dot (QD)–plasmonic nanostructure is considered. For the system QD–2D plasma the relaxation rate extremely steeply depends on the radius of quantum dot while in the pair QD–cylindrical wire contacting each other this dependence is logarithmic weak.  相似文献

We present an entanglement analysis protocol on entangled electron spins using quantum dot (QD) and microcavity coupled system. Each quantum dot is placed in the microcavity and ancilla photon input-output process could be used to check the parity of the quantum dots. After the parity check process, the user only needs to measure the spin direction of the QD spin, and the state information can be readout completely. The feasibility of our scheme and the experimental challenge are discussed by considering currently available techniques.  相似文献

We have investigated the spectral density of shot noise of the system with a quantum dot (QD) coupled to two single-wall carbon nanotube terminals, where a rotating magnetic field is applied to the QD. The carbon nanotube (CN) terminals act as quantum wires which open quantum channels for electrons to transport through. The shot noise and differential shot noise exhibit novel behaviors originated from the quantum nature of CNs. The shot noise is sensitively dependent on the rotating magnetic field, and the differential shot noise exhibits asymmetric behavior versus source-drain bias and gate voltage. The Fano factor of the system exhibits the deviation of shot noise from the Schottky formula. The super-Poissonian and sub-Poissonian shot noise can be achieved in different regime of source-drain bias.  相似文献

The pure spin transport in an entire metallic single-wall carbon-nanotube (SWCN) interacting quantum dot (QD) system is investigated by using non-equilibrium Green's function (NEGF) technique. The novel spin current performance introduced by one constant and one rotating magnetic fields shows the unique four-fold degenerate electron shell structure which exists the SWCN QD sensitively. Spin transport properties can be designed by tuning the orbital and Zeeman configuration in the central resonant region, which are greatly influenced by the Coulomb interaction and the magnetic fields.  相似文献

We theoretically analyzed localized charge relaxation in a double quantum dot (QD) system coupled with continuous spectrum states in the presence of Coulomb interaction between electrons within a dot. We have found that for a wide range of the system parameters charge relaxation occurs through two stable regimes with significantly different relaxation rates. A certain instant of time exists in the system at which rapid switching between stable regimes takes place. We consider this phenomenon to be applicable for the creation of active elements in nano-electronics based on the fast transition effect between two stable states.  相似文献

Within the framework of effective-mass approximation, the hydrostatic pressure effects on the donor binding energy of a hydrogenic impurity in InAs/GaAs self-assembled quantum dot(QD) are investigated by means of a variational method. Numerical results show that the donor binding energy increases when the hydrostatic pressure increases for any impurity position and QD size. Moreover, the hydrostatic pressure has a remarkable influence on the donor binding energy for small QD. Realistic cases, including the impurity in the QD and the surrounding barrier, are considered.  相似文献

A new mechanism of resonance Kondo tunneling via a composite quantum dot (QD) is proposed. It is shown that, owing to the hidden dynamic spin symmetry, the Kondo effect can be induced by a finite voltage eV applied to the contacts at an even number N of electrons in a QD with zero spin in the ground state. As an example, a double QD is considered in a parallel geometry with N=2, which possesses the SO(4) type symmetry characteristic of a singlet-triplet pair. In this system, the Kondo peak of conductance appears at an eV value compensating for the exchange splitting.  相似文献

The binding energy of a hydrogenic donor impurity in a wurtzite (WZ) GaN/AlGaN quantum dot (QD) is investigated, including the strong built-in electric field effect due to the spontaneous and piezoelectric polarizations. Numerical results show that the strong built-in electric field induces an asymmetrical distribution of the donor binding energy with respect to the center of the QD. The donor binding energy is insensitive to dot height when the impurity is located at the right boundary of the QD with large dot height.  相似文献

Very recently, a multiexcitonic quantum dot in an optical microcavity have been theoretically studied [Herbert Vincka, Boris A. Rodriguez, and Augusto Gonzalez, Physica E, 2006, 35: 99–102]. However, due to the inevitable damping losses through the microcavity, in this work, we will present a more precise and sound model in the Lindblad form master equation to investigate the photonic properties of a single quantum dot (QD) in an optical microcavity system, in which the QD may confine the multiexcitons and be in resonant interaction with a single photonic mode of an optical microcavity. The excitation energies, and the properties of the emission photon from the QD microcavity are computed as functions of the exciton-photon coupling strength, detuning, and pump rate. We further compare our results with their results, and find that the calculated intensity of the emitted photon and the spectra crucially depend on the exciton-photon coupling strength g, the photon detuning, and the number of excitons in the QD. Finally, we will give a physical mechanism of the dressed-state picture for the strong coupling between the single mode of an optical microcavity and the QD emitters to explain the details of the emission photon spectra. Our study establishes useful guidelines for the experimental study of such multiexcitonic quantum dot in an optical microcavity system.   相似文献

In this paper, a theoretical model is used to investigate the lasing spectrum properties of InAs/InP (113)B quantum dot (QD) lasers emitting at 1.55 μm. The numerical model used is based on a multi-population rate equation (MPRE) analysis. It takes into account the effect of the competition between the inhomogeneous broadening (due to the QD size dispersion) and the homogenous broadening as well as a nonlinear gain variation associated to a multimode laser emission. The double laser emission and the temperature dependence of lasing spectra of self-assembled InAs/InP quantum dot lasers is studied both experimentally and theoretically.  相似文献

Formation of a multimodal quantum dot (QD) ensemble by strained layer epitaxy of InAs on GaAs near the critical value for the onset of the 2D-3D transition is studied. Reflection anisotropy spectroscopy is employed to confirm that a smooth surface is maintained during strained layer growth prior to QD formation. Instantaneous capping after deposition leads to InAs quantum wells with some thickness flucuations. Multimodal QD InAs ensembles form after an at least short growth interruption prior to cap layer deposition. The QDs consist of pure InAs with heights varying in steps of complete InAs monolayers. Related exciton energies indicate a simultaneous increase of both height and lateral extension, i.e. a shell-like increase of sizes. The formation of the multimodal QD ensemble is described by a kinetic approach. A growth scenario is presented where QDs having initially shorter base length stop vertical growth at a smaller height, accounting for the experimentally observed shell-like sub-ensemble structure.  相似文献

Within the framework of effective-mass approximation, the binding energy of a hydrogenic donor impurity in a zinc-blende (ZB) InGaN/GaN cylindrical quantum dot (QD) is investigated using a variational procedure. Numerical results show that the donor binding energy is highly dependent on impurity position and QD size. The donor binding energy Eb is largest when the impurity is located at the center of the QD. The donor binding energy is decreased when the dot height (radius) is increased.  相似文献

Polarization properties of single photons emitted by optical pumping from a single quantum dot ( QD) are studied by using a four-level system model. The model is capable of explaining the polarization uncertainty observed in single photon emission experiments. It is found that the dependence of photon emission efficiency and polarization visibility on pump power are opposite in general cases. By employing QDs with small size and strong carrier confinement, the photon polarization visibility under high pump power can be improved. In addition, embedding a QD into a well designed microcavity is also found to be favourable, whereas the trade-off between high polarization visibility and multi-photon emission is noted.  相似文献
