The electronic and geometric structures and photodissociation dynamics of the chromium trimer ion, Cr3 +, were investigated by photodissociation spectroscopy in the photon-energy range from 1.32 to 5.52 eV. The branching fractions of the product ions, Cr+ and Cr2 +, exhibit stepwise changes at the threshold energies for dissociation into Cr++Cr2, Cr+Cr2 +, Cr++2Cr, and Cr*+Cr2 +. It is noted that Cr2 + is produced even above the threshold for atomization; the excess energy is redistributed to produce a fragment atom, Cr*, in an excited state. The photodissociation action spectrum is well explained by a mixture of simulated spectra for two nearly-degenerate structural isomers identified by density functional calculations: those having a metastable C2v structure and the most stable structure slightly distorted from the C2v one. The barrier height between the two isomers which is lower than the zero-point energy suggests that Cr3 + has an intrinsically floppy structure.  相似文献

We have studied experimentally the collisional charge transfer between a neutral atom and a multicharged metal-atom cluster. The charge transfer cross section measured for Na 31 + + + Cs is in the range of 400 ?2. The time-of-flight mass analysis of the singly charged collision products demonstrates that an energy of about 0.5 eV is deposited in the cluster fragment during the charge transfer collision. This effect can be interpreted as a charge transfer to an excited state of the metal cluster. The measured cross section for Na 31 + + + Cs is larger than the one for Na 31 + + Cs collisions. This difference between these two systems is due to the existence, for the first one, of a Coulombic repulsion term in the collision output channel. Received 24 October 2000  相似文献

Photoinduced dissociation in the ultraviolet region has been investigated for Ag nF n-1 + cluster ions. Photodissociation spectrum of Ag2F+ in the energy of 3.8–5.6 eV exhibits several sharp bands corresponding to the transition to electronically excited states. In this dissociation, only the Ag2 + ion was observed as a fragment ion. Theoretical calculation indicates that the parent Ag2F+ ion has a linear Ag-F-Ag equilibrium geometries in the ground and excited states. Since conformational changes by excitation of bending vibration are necessary for the fragmentation of an F atom, this indicates that production of Ag2 + from Ag2F+ is a result of internal conversion and following conformational changes.  相似文献

We present an infrared crystal-field study of Pr2CuO4 single crystals and thin films. Excitations from the ground state multiplet 3H4 to the 3H5, 3H6, 3F2 and 3F3 excited multiplets are observed in both single crystals and thin films. A precise set of crystal-field parameters, that reproduces the energy and the symmetry of the levels, is determined. Received 25 April 2001  相似文献

Neutral ammonia clusters (NH3)m are photo-excited to the electronic state by a deep UV femtosecond laser pump pulse. Within a few hundred femtoseconds a significant fraction of the clusters rearrange to form an H-transfer state (NH3)m-2NH4(3s)NH2 with the subunit NH4 in its 3s electronic ground state. This state is then electronically excited by a time-delayed infrared control pulse of variable wavelength. Finally, a third (probe) pulse in the UV ionizes the clusters for detection. The lifetime of the excited (NH3)m-2NH4(3p)NH2 states is found to vary between 2.7 and 0.13 ps depending on cluster size and excitation energy. It increases drastically upon deuteration. The corresponding cluster size-dependent photoelectron spectra allow us to disentangle the underlying energetics of the excitation and ionization process and reveal additional processes, such as nonresonant ionization or dissociative ionization. The experimental findings suggest that the excited H-transfer ammonia complexes with m > 2 are deactivated by an internal conversion process back to the electronically lowest H-transfer state followed by fast dissociation. We present the ultrafast multistate nuclear dynamics involving adiabatic and nonadiabatic excited states of non-stoichiometric halide deficient clusters (NanFn-1) characterized by strong ionic bonding and one-excess electron for which the “frozen ionic bonds” approximation has been justified allowing to consider the optical response of the single excess electron in the effective field of the other electrons. We combined the Wigner-Moyal representation of the vibronic density matrix with the ab initio multi state molecular dynamics in the ground and excited electronic states including the nonadiabatic couplings calculated “on the fly” at low computational demand. This method allows the simulation of femtosecond pump-probe and pump-dump signals based on an analytical formulation, which utilizes temperature dependent ground state initial conditions, an ensemble of trajectories carried out on the electronic excited state as well as on the ground state after the passage through the conical intersection in the case of nonadiabatic dynamics and for probing either in the cationic state or in the ground state. The choice of the systems we presented has been made in order to determine the timescales of the fast geometric relaxation leaving the bonding frame intact as during the dynamics in the first excited state of Na4F3, and of the bond breaking processes leading to conical intersection between the first excited state and the ground state as in Na3F2. The former is the smallest finite system prototype for an surface F-center of bulk color centers. The latter allows to study the photo isomerization in full complexity taking into account all degrees of freedom. In the case of Na4F3 after the fast geometric relaxation in the excited state leading to deformed cuboidal structure without breaking of bonds, different types of internal vibrational redistribution (IVR) processes have been identified in pump-dump signals by tuning the dump laser. In contrast, from the analysis of the pump-probe signals of Na3F2 cluster, the timescales for the metallic and the ionic bond breaking, as well as for the passage through conical intersection have been determined. Finally the conditions under which these processes can be experimentally observed have been identified. Received 22 December 2000  相似文献

Infrared (IR) photodissociation spectra of the aniline+-Arn cations, An + - Ar n (n = 1, 2), are analyzed in the vicinity of the N-H stretch fundamentals. The complexes are produced in an electron impact (EI) ion source which produces predominantly the most stable cluster isomers. Two isomers of An+-Ar are identified by their characteristic N-H stretch frequencies: the planar proton-bound global minimum, in which the Ar ligand forms a nearly linear H-bond to the amino group, and the less stable π-bound local minimum, in which the Ar atom is attached to the π-electron system of the aromatic ring. This result is the first unambiguous detection of the most stable H-bound An+-Ar dimer. All previous spectroscopic studies of An+-Ar employed resonance enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI) of neutral An-Ar and identified only the less stable π-bound cation due to restrictions arising from the Franck-Condon principle. The EI-IR spectrum of An+-Ar2 shows that the most stable structure of this trimer features two equivalent H-bonds (C2v symmetry). The interpretation of the experimental data is supported by quantum chemical calculations. The ab initio potential of An+-Ar calculated at the UMP2/6-311G(2df, 2pd) level features H-bound global minima ( D e = 513 cm-1) and π-bound local minima ( D e = 454 cm-1), with a barrier of V b ≈ 140 cm-1 for isomerization from the π-bound toward the H-bound minimum. In an experimental study, the multi-ionisation of metallic clusters (Nan) has been analysed in collisions with light ions in low charge states (H+, He+, He2+, O3+) at collision velocities below 1 a.u. Cluster ions are produced in charge states up to 5+. The average charge of the nano-particles is found to increase linearly with the variation of projectile velocity and the square of the effective projectile charge, well in agreement with the electronic stopping power of the bulk material. A fraction of 50% to 30% of the total projectile energy loss (decreasing with velocity) is transferred into vibrational modes in good agreement with recent theoretical predictions. The ground state structures of MC3 (M = Sc, V, and Cr) and their anions have been investigated, employing the first-principles DFT at the B3LYP level. The calculations predict that the equilibrium geometries of both neutral MC3 and their anions are cyclic structures with C2v symmetry. The Mulliken charge and spin populations of MC3 and their anions have also been calculated, and it is found the electron charge changes mainly take place on the M atoms from anions to neutral molecules. The low-lying excited states for the clusters are calculated with time-dependent DFT to assign the features of the photoelectron spectra. Our results agree well with the available experimental and theoretical data.  相似文献

Recent experimental data on the dipole plasmon in axial sodium clusters Na N + with 11 ≤ N ≤ 57 are analyzed within a self-consistent separable random-phase approximation (SRPA) based on the deformed Konh-Sham functional. Good agreement with the data is achieved. The calculations show that, while in light clusters plasmon properties (gross structure and width) are determined mainly by deformation splitting, in medium clusters with N τ 50 the Landau fragmentation becomes decisive. Moreover, in medium clusters shape isomers come to play with contributions to the plasmon comparable with the ground state one. As a result, commonly used methods of the experimental analysis of cluster deformation become useless and correct treatment of cluster shape requires microscopic calculations.  相似文献

We investigate the electron capture occurring in the collision between an ion A+ and a cluster An (n = 5). The process has been modelled within the Hubbard Hamiltonian, which takes into account the intrasite U electron correlation. An exact procedure has been numerically applied which involves all the excited states to examine the time evolution of the system during the collision. We have applied the model to the sodium case. We have investigated the time evolution of the electron population during the collision on the projectile versus the kinetic energy of the projectile. It displays some oscillations which means that the electron exchanges between the ion and the cluster occurs alternatively in one direction and the other. We also vary U and examine its influence on the dynamics of the oscillation of the average population. Finally the cross section is derived versus the energy and U. Thermionic emission from hot fullerene anions, CN -, has been measured in an electrostatic storage ring for even N values from 36 to 96. The decay is quenched by radiative cooling and hence the observations give information on the intensity of thermal radiation from fullerenes. The experiments are analysed by comparison with a simulation which includes the quantisation of photon energy and the statistics of emission. Experiments with heating of the molecules with a laser beam confirm the interpretation of the observations in terms of radiative cooling and give an independent estimate of the cooling rate for C60 -. The measured cooling rates agree in general within a factor of two with the prediction from a classical dielectric model of a thermal radiation intensity of ∼ 300 eV/s for C60 at 1 400 K, scaling approximately with the 6th power of the temperature and with the number of atoms in the molecule. In this paper we present two-color pump and probe spectroscopy on Na2F, the smallest of the non-stoichiometric sodium-fluoride clusters (NanFn-1), in molecular beams by employing femtosecond laser pulses. The molecules were pumped into the first excited state by one photonic transition and consecutively ionized from there by the second photon. We resolved the wavepacket oscillatory motion involving periodical structural rearrangements in the first excited state of Na2F with a period of 185 fs. The time-resolved experiments show that sodium fluoride clusters provide interesting features which can be manipulated in optimal control experiments.  相似文献

An extended complete diagonalization method/microscopic spin-Hamiltonian (CDM/MSH) program has been developed, which is applicable for d3 ions at sites of tetragonal symmetry type I (C4v, D2d, D4, D4h) and trigonal symmetry type I (C3v, D3, D3d). The Hamiltonian includes the spin-spin (SS) and spin-other-orbit (SOO) magnetic interactions besides the spin-orbit (SO) magnetic interaction usually taken into account. Utilizing the extended CDM/MSH program, the optical spectra, the spin-Hamiltonian (SH) parameters of the ground state 4B1, and the splitting δ(2E) of the first excited 2E state for Cr3+ (3d3) ions at C4v symmetry sites in MgO crystals have been successfully investigated. It is found that although the SO magnetic interaction is the most important one, the contributions to the SH parameters and the optical spectra from the SS and SOO magnetic interactions for Cr3+:MgO crystals are appreciable and should not be omitted, especially reaching 27.8% for the zero field splitting parameter D.  相似文献

We have studied the fluorescence of electronically excited OH*, H* and H2O+* dissociation fragments after VUV excitation ( h ν≥11.6 eV) of rare-gas clusters (Rg = Ne, Ar) doped with H2O molecules. In contrast to a free molecule, where Balmer H-series dominate the UV-visible spectra, only the OH * ( A 2 Σ + X 2 Π) emission band is observed in neon clusters. No emission of excited water ions has been observed. We find that while higher excitation energies (Ne vs. Ar) induce higher vibrational excitation of the OH* ( A ) fragment, the rotational temperature is lower. This effect is attributed to the difference in the geometric position of the H2O molecule on the surface or inside the Rg-cluster. The rotational relaxation in neon clusters is rapid while the vibrational relaxation is slow because of the coupling with the low energy matrix phonons. Cope rearrangement mechanisms and the homoaromaticity of semibullvalene, barbaralane, and 1,5‐methanosemibullvalene in the ground and lowest excited states were studied by ab initio methods. In the ground state, the rearrangement reactions of semibullvalene and barbaralane occurred concertedly through the transition states with C2v symmetry, and the transition states had a homoaromatic nature. In particular, the transition state of barbaralane exhibited the strongest homoaromaticity among the three systems treated here. On the other hand, for 7,8‐methanosemibullvalene, the structure with C2v symmetry was not a transition state but one with a stable energy minimum. The energy minimum structure with C2v symmetry had a biradical character. The lowest excited states of semibullvalene and barbaralane were the excitation to the σ* anti‐orbital, 1B2 and 1B1 states, and led to near di‐allyl states. The lowest excitation state of 1,5‐methanosemibullvalene had Cs symmetry and was the A″ state excitation in one side of two allyl parts. Copyright © 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Firstly, imaginary frequency-dependent dipole polarizabilities of Li in its 2 S ground state and the first 2 P excited state are calculated from a time-dependent gauge-invariant method using effective core pseudo-potentials and the multi-configuration one-electron wave function. C6 dispersion coefficients of the 2 s + 2 s and 2 s + 2 p dissociations are deduced and also compared with all-electron values. Then, static polarizabilities of Li2 in its ground and first excited 1, 3 Σ + g,u states are obtained at interatomic distance corresponding to the energy minimum of each state. The magnetic properties of the cyclic compound [Fe6(bicine)6] LiClO4 . 2MeOH are reported. The cluster Fe6(bicine)6 forms an antiferromagnetically coupled ring structure of Fe III ions. The magnetic susceptibility is measured between 2 and 300 K and yields the exchange coupling of J/k B = - 27.5±0.5 K. The field dependence of the magnetic moment is studied at 3 and 6 K in magnetic fields up to 5 T. The zero-field splitting of the first excited spin states with S = 2 and 3 are determined by ESR at 94 GHz. The intra-molecular interactions of the Fe III ions are analyzed and the on-site anisotropy of the Fe III due to the ligand-configuration is determined to d /k B = - 0.633±0.008K. A low-temperature high-resolution luminescence study of the EuCl3bpy2(H2O) n isomers has been carried out. The Eu3+ luminescence spectra of all geometric isomers were recorded over the spectral range which includes transitions from the 5D0 excited state to the 7F0–4 ground state manifolds and from the 5D1 excited state to the 7F0–2 ground state manifolds. Analysis of the Eu3+ transitions observed in the luminescence spectra shows that the Eu3+ ion occupies a spectroscopic site symmetry that approaches a C2 v symmetry with distortion towards C2 or lower symmetry. The structural features and distortions of the Eu3+ coordination polyhedron in these geometric isomers were described based on the X-ray crystallographic data as well. The splitting patterns and energies found of the 7F0–4 manifolds have been used to calculate the crystal field parameters (CFPs) of the Eu3+ ions in these geometric isomers. In addition the mutual influence of the ligands as well as the relative stability of geometric isomers of the [EuCl3bpy2(H2O)2]+ cation in the gas phase was analyzed within DFT calculations.  相似文献
