Deformations of Lie algebras using σ-derivations

In this article we develop an approach to deformations of the Witt and Virasoro algebras based on σ-derivations. We show that σ-twisted Jacobi type identity holds for generators of such deformations. For the σ-twisted generalization of Lie algebras modeled by this construction, we develop a theory of central extensions. We show that our approach can be used to construct new deformations of Lie algebras and their central extensions, which in particular include naturally the q-deformations of the Witt and Virasoro algebras associated to q-difference operators, providing also corresponding q-deformed Jacobi identities.     

Free fermions, <Emphasis Type="Italic">W</Emphasis>-algebras,and isomonodromic deformations

We consider the theory of multicomponent free massless fermions in two dimensions and use it to construct representations of W-algebras at integer Virasoro central charges. We define the vertex operators in this theory in terms of solutions of the corresponding isomonodromy problem. We use this construction to obtain some new insights into tau functions of the multicomponent Toda-type hierarchies for the class of solutions given by the isomonodromy vertex operators and to obtain a useful representation for tau functions of isomonodromic deformations.     

IRREDUCIBLE REPRESENTATIONS FOR THE AFFINE-VIRASORO LIE ALGEBRA OF TYPE B_l

An explicit construction of irreducible representations for the affine-Virasoro Liealgebra of type B_l, through the use of vertex operators and certain oscillator represen-tations of the Virasoro algebra, is given.     

The 3-state Potts model and Rogers-Ramanujan series

We explain the appearance of Rogers-Ramanujan series inside the tensor product of two basic A ₂ ⁽²⁾ -modules, previously discovered by the first author in [Feingold A.J., Some applications of vertex operators to Kac-Moody algebras, In: Vertex Operators in Mathematics and Physics, Berkeley, November 10–17, 1983, Math. Sci. Res. Inst. Publ., 3, Springer, New York, 1985, 185–206]. The key new ingredients are (5,6)Virasoro minimal models and twisted modules for the Zamolodchikov W ₃-algebra.     

Simple Virasoro modules which are locally finite over a positive part

We propose a very general construction of simple Virasoro modules generalizing and including both highest weight and Whittaker modules. This construction enables us to classify all simple Virasoro modules that are locally finite over a positive part. To obtain those irreducible Virasoro modules, we use simple modules over a family of finite dimensional solvable Lie algebras. For one of these algebras, all simple modules are classified by R. Block and we extend this classification to the next member of the family. As a result, we recover many known but also construct a lot of new simple Virasoro modules. We also propose a revision of the setup for study of Whittaker modules.

We describe a conjectural classification of Poisson vertex algebras of CFT type and of Poisson vertex algebras in one differential variable (= scalar Hamiltonian operators).     

Generalized Virasoro Operators

Abstract

We define generalized Virasoro operators acting on a Fock space V(Γ). These generalize the standard construction of Virasoro operators. By using the Jacobi Identity we compute the commutators of these operators. These operators result in an abelian extension of the toroidal Lie algebra. We explicitly describe the abelian extension.     

Left-symmetric superalgebra structures on the N = 2 superconformal algebras

The super-Virasoro algebras, also known as the superconformal algebras, are nontrivial graded extensions of the Virasoro algebra to Lie superalgebra version. In this paper, we classify the compatible left-symmetric superalgebra structures on the N = 2 Ramond and Neveu–Schwarz superconformal algebras under certain conditions, which generalizes the corresponding results for the Witt, Virasoro and super Virasoro algebras.     

Convergence in Conformal Field Theory

Convergence and analytic extension are of fundamental importance in the mathematical construction and study of conformal field theory. The author reviews some main convergence results, conjectures and problems in the construction and study of conformal field theories using the representation theory of vertex operator algebras. He also reviews the related analytic extension results, conjectures and problems. He discusses the convergence and analytic extensions of products of intertwining operators (chiral conformal fields) and of q-traces and pseudo-q-traces of products of intertwining operators. He also discusses the convergence results related to the sewing operation and the determinant line bundle and a higher-genus convergence result. He then explains conjectures and problems on the convergence and analytic extensions in orbifold conformal field theory and in the cohomology theory of vertex operator algebras.     

Construction of vertex operator algebras from commutative associative algebras

Given a commutative associative algebra A with an associative form (’), we construct a vertex operator algebra V with the weight two space V₂;? A If in addition the form (’) is nondegenerate, we show that there is a simple vertex operator algebra with V₂;? A We also show that if A is semisimple, then the vertex operator algebra constructed is the tensor products of a certain number of Virasoro vertex operator algebras.     

L-R-Twisted Tensor Products of Nonlocal Vertex Algebras and Their Modules

In this article, we introduce and study a common generalization of the twisted tensor product construction of nonlocal vertex algebras and their modules. We investigate some properties of this new construction; for instance, we give the relations between L-R-twisted tensor product nonlocal vertex algebras and twisted tensor product vertex algebras. Furthermore, we find the conditions for constructing an iterated L-R-twisted tensor product nonlocal vertex algebra and its module.     

Representations of centrally-extended Lie algebras over differential operators and vertex algebras

We construct irreducible modules of centrally-extended classical Lie algebras over left ideals of the algebra of differential operators on the circle, through certain irreducible modules of centrally-extended classical Lie algebras of infinite matrices with finite number of nonzero entries. The structures of vertex algebras associated with the vacuum representations of these algebras are determined. Moreover, we prove that under certain conditions, the highest-weight irreducible modules of centrally-extended classical Lie algebras of infinite matrices with finite number of nonzero entries naturally give rise to the irreducible modules of the simple quotients of these vertex algebras. From vertex algebra and its representation point of view, our results with positive integral central charge are high-order differential operator analogues of the well-known WZW models in conformal field theory associated with affine Kac-Moody algebras. Indeed, when the left ideals are the algebra of differential operators, our Lie algebras do contain affine Kac-Moody algebras as subalgebras and our results restricted on them are exactly the representation contents in WZW models. Similar results with negative central charge are also obtained.     

Twisted modules for quantum vertex algebras

We study twisted modules for (weak) quantum vertex algebras and we give a conceptual construction of (weak) quantum vertex algebras and their twisted modules. As an application we construct and classify irreducible twisted modules for a certain family of quantum vertex algebras.     

Level one representations of quantum affine algebras U_q(C^{(1)}_n)

We give explicit constructions of quantum symplectic affine algebras at level one using vertex operators.     

Generalized rationality and a 'Jacobi identity' for intertwining operator algebras

We prove a generalized rationality property and a new identity that we call the 'Jacobi identity' for intertwining operator algebras. Most of the main properties of genus-zero conformal field theories, including the main properties of vertex operator algebras, modules, intertwining operators, Verlinde algebras, and fusing and braiding matrices, are incorporated into this identity. Together with associativity and commutativity for intertwining operators proved by the author in [H4] and [H6], the results of the present paper solve completely the problem of finding a natural purely algebraic structure on the direct sum of all inequivalent irreducible modules for a suitable vertex operator algebra. Two equivalent definitions of intertwining operator algebra in terms of this Jacobi identity are given.     

扭的Heisenberg-Virasoro顶点算子代数的一个特征化（英文）

The twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra is the universal central extension of the Lie algebra of differential operators on a circle of order at most one. In this paper, we first study the variety of semi-conformal vectors of the twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro vertex operator algebra, which is a finite set consisting of two nontrivial elements. Based on this property,we also show that the twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro vertex operator algebra is a tensor product of two vertex operator algebras. Moreover, associating to properties of semi-conformal vectors of the twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro vertex operator algebra, we charaterized twisted Heisenberg-Virasoro vertex operator algebras. This will be used to understand the classification problems of vertex operator algebras whose varieties of semi-conformal vectors are finite sets.     

On mirror symmetry in Wess-Zumino-Novikov-Witten models

We examine the problem of constructing N=2 superconformal algebras out of N=1 non-semi-simple affine Lie algebras. These N=2 superconformal theories share the property that the super Virasoro central charge depends only on the dimension of the Lie algebra. We find, in particular, a construction having a central charge c=9. Lie Bialgebras of Generalized Loop Virasoro Algebras

The first cohomology group of generalized loop Virasoro algebras with coefficients in the tensor product of its adjoint module is shown to be trivial. The result is used to prove that Lie bialgebra structures on generalized loop Virasoro algebras are coboundary triangular. The authors generalize the results to generalized map Virasoro algebras.
