Lattices , are similar if one can be transformed into the other by an angle-preserving linear map. Similarity classes of lattices of rankn may be parametrized by a fundamental domain of the action ofGL n () on the generalized upper half-plane n . Zusammenfassung Eine neuentwickelte Methode für untere Schranken und das Rayleigh-Ritzverfahren für obere Schranken werden von den Verfassern dazu angewandt, die Eigenfrequenzen der Schwingungen von dünnen gleichförmigen, rechteckigen Platten mit freien Rändern abzuschätzen. Die Anwendbarkeit des Verfahrens für untere Schranken wird hervorgehoben, und es werden Berechnungen für eine Symmetrieklasse von rechteckigen sowie für eine Unterklasse von quadratischen Platten angegeben. Die dadurch entstehenden Schranken führen zu einer Verbesserung bisher veröffentlichter Resultate und weisen auf die Brauchbarkeit der Methode für untere Schranken hin.

A Singer cycle in GL(n,q) is an element of order q permuting cyclically all the nonzero vectors. Let be a Singer cycle in GL(2n,2). In this note we shall count the number of lines in PG (2n-1,2) whose orbit under the subgroup of index 3 in the Singer group is a spread. The lines constituting such a spread are permuted cyclically by the group 3, hence gives rise to a flag-transitive 2-(22n ,4,1) design.  相似文献

Summary The Skorohod oblique reflection problem for (D, , w) (D a general domain in d , (x),xD, a convex cone of directions of reflection,w a function inD(+, d )) is considered. It is first proved, under a condition on (D, ), corresponding to (x) not being simultaneously too large and too much skewed with respect to D, that given a sequence {w n} of functions converging in the Skorohod topology tow, any sequence {(x n, n)} of solutions to the Skorohod problem for (D, , w n) is relatively compact and any of its limit points is a solution to the Skorohod problem for (D, , w). Next it is shown that if (D, ) satisfies the uniform exterior sphere condition and another requirement, then solutions to the Skorohod problem for (D, , w) exist for everywD(+, d ) with small enough jump size. The requirement is met in the case when D is piecewiseC b 1 , is generated by continuous vector fields on the faces ofD and (x) makes and angle (in a suitable sense) of less than /2 with the cone of inward normals atD, for everyxD. Existence of obliquely reflecting Brownian motion and of weak solutions to stochastic differential equations with oblique reflection boundary conditions is derived.  相似文献

One is concerned with Cremona-like transformations, i.e., rational maps from n to m that are birational onto the image Y m and, moreover, the inverse map from Y to n lifts to m . We establish a handy criterion of birationality in terms of certain syzygies and ranks of appropriate matrices and, moreover, give an effective method to explicitly obtaining the inverse map. A handful of classes of Cremona and Cremona-like transformations follow as applications.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to give a formula for expressing the second order directional derivatives of the sup-type functionS(x) = sup{f(x, t); t T} in terms of the first and second derivatives off(x, t), whereT is a compact set in a metric space and we assume thatf, f/x and 2 f/x 2 are continuous on n × T. Two algebras of global pseudo-differential operators over n are investigated, with corresponding classes of symbols A0=CB (all (x, )-derivatives bounded over 2n), and A1 (all finite applications of xj, j, and pq=pqpxp on the symbol are in A0). The class A1 consists of classical symbols, i.e., x a= 0((1+||)–||) for x Kc ;n, K, compact. It is shown that a bounded operator A of 210C=L2(Rn) is a pseudo-differential operator with symbol aAj if and only if the map AG–1AG, G gj is infinitely differentiable, from a certain Lie-group gj c GL(210C) to (210C) with operator norm. g0 is the Weyl (or Heisenberg) group. We estimate the kinematic measure of one convex domain moving to another under the groupG of rigid motions in n . The inequality holds for x at which the survival function x{S nx} has a jump down. For remaining x, the inequality still holds provided that we interpolate the function between the adjacent jump points linearly or log-linearly. If necessary, in order to estimate {S nx} one can use special bounds for binomial probabilities. Up to the factor at most 2.375, the inequality is final. The inequality improves the classical Bernstein, Prokhorov, Bennett, Hoeffding, Talagrand, and other bounds.  相似文献

Summary For solving the nonlinear systemG(x, t)=0,G| n × 1 n , which is assumed to have a smooth curve of solutions a continuation method with self-choosing stepsize is proposed. It is based on a PC-principle using an Euler-Cauchy-predictor and Newton's iteration as corrector. Under the assumption thatG is sufficiently smooth and the total derivative (1 G(x, t)2 G(x, t)) has full rankn along the method is proven to terminate with a solution (x N , 1) of the system fort=1. It works succesfully, too, if the Jacobians 1 G(x, t) become singular at some points of , e.g., if has turning points. The method is especially able to give a point-wise approximation of the curve implicitly defined as solution of the system mentioned above.
