\({{\widetilde{\bf SL_{2}R}}}\) geometry is one of the eight 3-dimensional Thurston geometries, it can be derived from the 3-dimensional Lie group of all 2 × 2 real matrices with determinant one. Our aim is to describe and visualize the regular infinite or bounded p-gonal prism tilings in \({{\widetilde{\bf SL_{2}R}}}\) . For this purpose we introduce the notion of infinite and bounded prisms, prove that there exist infinitely many regular infinite p-gonal face-to-face prism tilings \({\mathcal{T}^i_p(q)}\) and infinitely many regular bounded p-gonal non-face-to-face \({{\widetilde{\bf SL_{2}R}}}\) prism tilings \({\mathcal{T}_p(q)}\) for integer parameters \({p,q; 3 \leq p, \frac{2p}{p-2} < q}\) . Moreover, we describe the symmetry group of \({\mathcal{T}_p(q)}\) via its index 2 rotational subgroup, denoted by pq2 1 . Surprisingly this group already occurred in our former work (Molnár et al., J Geometry, 95:91–133, 2009) in another context. We also develop a method to determine the data of the space filling regular infinite and bounded prism tilings. We apply the above procedure to \({\mathcal{T}^i_3(q)}\) and \({\mathcal{T}_3(q)}\) where 6 < q and visualize them and the corresponding tilings. E. Molnár showed, that homogeneous 3-spaces have a unified interpretation in the projective 3-sphere \({\mathcal{PS}^3}\) and 3-space \({\mathcal{P}^3({\bf V}^4,{\bf V}_4, {\bf R})}\) . In our work we will use this projective model of \({{\widetilde{\bf SL_{2}R}}}\) and in this manner the prisms and prism tilings can be visualized on the Euclidean screen of a computer.  相似文献

Let G be an archimedean \({\ell}\) -group. By an f-representation of G we mean an orthomorphism-valued group homomorphism S on G for which (Sf)g =  (Sg)f for all \({f, g \in G}\) . We prove that the set \({\mathfrak{Rep}(G)}\) of all f-representations in G is an archimedean \({\ell}\) -group with respect to pointwise addition and ordering. Furthermore, we define an orthoproduct on G to be a bilinear map on G which is an orthomorphism in each variable separately. It turns out that the set \({\mathfrak{Opro}(G)}\) is an archimedean \({\ell}\) -group G with the set \({\mathfrak{Mult}(G)}\) of f-multiplications in G as a positive cone. Moreover, we show that \({\mathfrak{Opro}(G)}\) and \({\mathfrak{Rep}(G)}\) are isomorphic as \({\ell}\) -groups. In spite of that, we get a representation theorem for f-multiplications in an \({\ell}\) -subgroup of an archimedean f-ring R with unit element. This allows us to find an example of an archimedean \({\ell}\) -group with no nontrivial structure of an f-ring and another which cannot be a reduced f-ring.  相似文献

We show that every surface in the component \({\mathcal{H}^{\rm hyp}(4)}\) , that is the moduli space of pairs \({(M,\omega)}\) where M is a genus three hyperelliptic Riemann surface and \({\omega}\) is an Abelian differential having a single zero on M, is either a Veech surface or a generic surface, i.e. its \({{\rm GL}^{+}(2,\mathbb{R})}\) -orbit is either a closed or a dense subset of \({\mathcal{H}^{\rm hyp}(4)}\) . The proof develops new techniques applicable in general to the problem of classifying orbit closures, especially in low genus. Combined with work of Matheus and the second author, a corollary is that there are at most finitely many non-arithmetic Teichmüller curves (closed orbits of surfaces not covering the torus) in \({\mathcal{H}^{\rm hyp}(4)}\) .  相似文献

The vector space \({\otimes^{n}\mathbb{C}^2}\) upon which the XXZ Hamiltonian with n spins acts bears the structure of a module over both the Temperley–Lieb algebra \({{\rm TL}_{n}(\beta = q + q^{-1})}\) and the quantum algebra \({{\rm U}_{q} \mathfrak{sl}_2}\) . The decomposition of \({\otimes^{n}\mathbb{C}^2}\) as a \({{\rm U}_{q} \mathfrak{sl}_2}\) -module was first described by Rosso (Commun Math Phys 117:581–593, 1988), Lusztig (Cont Math 82:58–77, 1989) and Pasquier and Saleur (Nucl Phys B 330:523–556, 1990) and that as a TL n -module by Martin (Int J Mod Phys A 7:645–673, 1992) (see also Read and Saleur Nucl Phys B 777(3):316–351, 2007; Gainutdinov and Vasseur Nucl Phys B 868:223–270, 2013). For q generic, i.e. not a root of unity, the TL n -module \({\otimes^{n}\mathbb{C}^2}\) is known to be a sum of irreducible modules. We construct the projectors (idempotents of the algebra of endomorphisms of \({\otimes^{n}\mathbb{C}^2}\) ) onto each of these irreducible modules as linear combinations of elements of \({{\rm U}_{q} \mathfrak{sl}_2}\) . When q = q c is a root of unity, the TL n -module \({\otimes^{n}\mathbb{C}^2}\) (with n large enough) can be written as a direct sum of indecomposable modules that are not all irreducible. We also give the idempotents projecting onto these indecomposable modules. Their expression now involves some new generators, whose action on \({\otimes^{n}\mathbb{C}^2}\) is that of the divided powers \({(S^{\pm})^{(r)} = \lim_{q \rightarrow q_{c}} (S^{\pm})^r/[r]!}\) .  相似文献

Let \({\mathcal {A}}\subseteq {\mathbb {N}}^n\) be a finite set, and \(K\subseteq {\mathbb {R}}^n\) be a compact semialgebraic set. An \({\mathcal {A}}\) -truncated multisequence ( \({\mathcal {A}}\) -tms) is a vector \(y=(y_{\alpha })\) indexed by elements in \({\mathcal {A}}\) . The \({\mathcal {A}}\) -truncated \(K\) -moment problem ( \({\mathcal {A}}\) -TKMP) concerns whether or not a given \({\mathcal {A}}\) -tms \(y\) admits a \(K\) -measure \(\mu \) , i.e., \(\mu \) is a nonnegative Borel measure supported in \(K\) such that \(y_\alpha = \int _K x^\alpha \mathtt {d}\mu \) for all \(\alpha \in {\mathcal {A}}\) . This paper proposes a numerical algorithm for solving \({\mathcal {A}}\) -TKMPs. It aims at finding a flat extension of \(y\) by solving a hierarchy of semidefinite relaxations \(\{(\mathtt {SDR})_k\}_{k=1}^\infty \) for a moment optimization problem, whose objective \(R\) is generated in a certain randomized way. If \(y\) admits no \(K\) -measures and \({\mathbb {R}}[x]_{{\mathcal {A}}}\) is \(K\) -full (there exists \(p \in {\mathbb {R}}[x]_{{\mathcal {A}}}\) that is positive on \(K\) ), then \((\mathtt {SDR})_k\) is infeasible for all \(k\) big enough, which gives a certificate for the nonexistence of representing measures. If \(y\) admits a \(K\) -measure, then for almost all generated \(R\) , this algorithm has the following properties: i) we can asymptotically get a flat extension of \(y\) by solving the hierarchy \(\{(\mathtt {SDR})_k\}_{k=1}^\infty \) ; ii) under a general condition that is almost sufficient and necessary, we can get a flat extension of \(y\) by solving \((\mathtt {SDR})_k\) for some \(k\) ; iii) the obtained flat extensions admit a \(r\) -atomic \(K\) -measure with \(r\le |{\mathcal {A}}|\) . The decomposition problems for completely positive matrices and sums of even powers of real linear forms, and the standard truncated \(K\) -moment problems, are special cases of \({\mathcal {A}}\) -TKMPs. They can be solved numerically by this algorithm.  相似文献

We study the problem $$\left\{\begin{array}{ll}\Delta_p u = |u|^{q-2}u, & \quad x \in \Omega ,\\ |\nabla u|^{p-2} \frac{\partial u}{\partial \nu}= \lambda |u|^{p-2}u, &\quad x \in \partial \Omega, \end{array}\right.$$ where \({\Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^N}\) is a bounded smooth domain, \({\nu}\) is the outward unit normal at \({\partial \Omega}\) and \({\lambda > 0}\) is regarded as a bifurcation parameter. When p = 2 and in the superlinear regime q > 2, we show existence of n nontrivial solutions for all \({\lambda > \lambda_n}\) , \({\lambda_n}\) being the n-th Steklov eigenvalue. It is proved in addition that bifurcation from the trivial solution takes place at all \({\lambda_n}\) ’s. Similar results are obtained in the sublinear case 1 < q < 2. In this case, bifurcation from infinity takes place in those \({\lambda_n}\) with odd multiplicity. Partial extensions of these features are shown in the nonlinear diffusion case \({p \neq 2}\) and related problems under spatially heterogeneous reactions are also addressed.  相似文献

For a graph G and a set \({\mathcal{F}}\) of connected graphs, G is said be \({\mathcal{F}}\) -free if G does not contain any member of \({\mathcal{F}}\) as an induced subgraph. We let \({\mathcal{G} _{3}(\mathcal{F})}\) denote the set of all 3-connected \({\mathcal{F}}\) -free graphs. This paper is concerned with sets \({\mathcal{F}}\) of connected graphs such that \({\mathcal{F}}\) contains no star, \({|\mathcal{F}|=3}\) and \({\mathcal{G}_{3}(\mathcal{F})}\) is finite. Among other results, we show that for a connected graph T( ≠ K 1) which is not a star, \({\mathcal{G}_{3}(\{K_{4},K_{2,2},T\})}\) is finite if and only if T is a path of order at most 6.  相似文献

Let G be a connected semisimple algebraic group over \({\mathbb C}\) , with Lie algebra \({\mathfrak g}\) . Let \({\mathfrak h}\) be a subalgebra of \({\mathfrak g}\) . A simple finite-dimensional \({\mathfrak g}\) -module \({\mathbb V}\) is said to be \({\mathfrak h}\) -indecomposable if it cannot be written as a direct sum of two proper \({\mathfrak h}\) -submodules. We say that \({\mathfrak h}\) is wide, if all simple finite-dimensional \({\mathfrak g}\) -modules are \({\mathfrak h}\) -indecomposable. Some very special examples of indecomposable modules and wide subalgebras appear recently in the literature. In this paper, we describe several large classes of wide subalgebras of \({\mathfrak g}\) and initiate their systematic study. Our approach is based on the study of idempotents in the associative algebra of \({\mathfrak h}\) -invariant endomorphisms of \({\mathbb V}\) . We also discuss a relationship between wide subalgebras and epimorphic subgroups.  相似文献

Let s q denote the q-ary sum-of-digits function and let \({P_1(X), P_2(X) \in \mathbb{Z}[X]}\) with \({P_1(\mathbb{N}), P_2(\mathbb{N}) \subset \mathbb{N}}\) be polynomials of degree \({h, l \geqq 1, h \neq l}\) , respectively. In this note we show that ( \({s_q(P_1(n))/s_q(P_2(n)))_{n \geqq 1}}\) is dense in \({\mathbb{R}^+}\) . This extends work by Stolarsky [9] and Hare, Laishram and Stoll [6].  相似文献

Consider an abelian variety \(A\) defined over a global field \(K\) and let \(L/K\) be a \({\mathbb {Z}}_p^d\) -extension, unramified outside a finite set of places of \(K\) , with \({{\mathrm{Gal}}}(L/K)=\Gamma \) . Let \(\Lambda (\Gamma ):={\mathbb {Z}}_p[[\Gamma ]]\) denote the Iwasawa algebra. In this paper, we study how the characteristic ideal of the \(\Lambda (\Gamma )\) -module \(X_L\) , the dual \(p\) -primary Selmer group, varies when \(L/K\) is replaced by a strict intermediate \({\mathbb {Z}}_p^e\) -extension.  相似文献

We give an explicit graded cellular basis of the \({\mathfrak {sl}}_3\) -web algebra \(K_S\) . In order to do this, we identify Kuperberg’s basis for the \({\mathfrak {sl}}_3\) -web space \(W_S\) with a version of Leclerc–Toffin’s intermediate crystal basis and we identify Brundan, Kleshchev and Wang’s degree of tableaux with the weight of flows on webs and the \(q\) -degree of foams. We use these observations to give a “foamy” version of Hu and Mathas graded cellular basis of the cyclotomic Hecke algebra which turns out to be a graded cellular basis of the \({\mathfrak {sl}}_3\) -web algebra. We restrict ourselves to the \({\mathfrak {sl}}_3\) case over \(\mathbb {C}\) here, but our approach should, up to the combinatorics of \({\mathfrak {sl}}_N\) -webs, work for all \(N>1\) or over \(\mathbb {Z}\) .  相似文献

We consider the following q-eigenvalue problem for the p-Laplacian $$\left\{\begin{array}{ll}-{\rm div}\big( |\nabla u|^{p-2}\nabla u\big) = \lambda \|u\|_{L^{q}(\Omega)}^{p-q}|u|^{q-2}u \quad \quad\, {\rm in} \,\,\,\, \Omega\\ \quad\quad\quad \quad \quad \quad u = 0 \quad\qquad\qquad \quad\quad \,\,{\rm on } \,\,\,\, \partial\Omega,\end{array}\right.$$ where \({\lambda\in\mathbb{R},}\) p > 1, Ω is a bounded and smooth domain of \({\mathbb{R}^{N},}\) N > 1, \({1\leq q < p^{\star}}\) , \({p^{\star}=\frac{Np}{N-p}}\) if p < N and \({p^{\star}=\infty}\) if \({p\geq N.}\) Let λ q denote the first q-eigenvalue. We prove that in the super-linear case, \({p < q < p^{\star},}\) there exists \({\epsilon_{q}>0}\) such that if \({\lambda\in(\lambda_{q},\lambda _{q}+\epsilon_{q})}\) is a q-eigenvalue, then any corresponding q-eigenfunction does not change sign in Ω. As a consequence of this result we obtain, in the super-linear case, the isolatedness of λ q for those Ω such that the Lane–Emden problem $$\left\{\begin{array}{ll}-{\rm div}\big(|\nabla u|^{p-2}\nabla u\big) = |u|^{q-2}u \qquad\quad\quad\quad \,\,{\rm in}\,\,\,\Omega\\ \quad\quad\quad \quad \quad \quad u = 0 \quad\qquad\qquad \quad\quad \,{\rm on } \,\,\, \partial\Omega,\end{array}\right.$$ has exactly one positive solution.  相似文献

For a given class \({\mathcal{G}}\) of groups, a 3-manifold M is of \({\mathcal{G}}\) -category \({\leq k}\) if it can be covered by k open subsets such that for each path-component W of the subsets the image of its fundamental group \({ \pi_1(W) \rightarrow \pi(M )}\) belongs to \({\mathcal{G}}\) . The smallest number k such that M admits such a covering is the \({\mathcal{G}}\) -category, \({cat_{\mathcal{G}}(M)}\) . If M is closed, it has \({\mathcal{G}}\) -category between 1 and 4. We characterize all closed 3-manifolds of \({\mathcal{G}}\) -category 1, 2, and 3 for various classes \({\mathcal{G}}\) .  相似文献

The purpose of this article is to generalize some results of Vatsal on the special values of Rankin–Selberg L-functions in an anticyclotomic \({\mathbb{Z}_{p}}\) -extension. Let g be a cuspidal Hilbert modular newform of parallel weight \({(2,\ldots,2)}\) and level \({\mathcal{N}}\) over a totally real field F, and let K/F be a totally imaginary quadratic extension of relative discriminant \({\mathcal{D}}\) . We study the l-adic valuation of the special values \({L(g,\chi,\frac{1}{2})}\) as \({\chi}\) varies over the ring class characters of K of \({\mathcal{P}}\) -power conductor, for some fixed prime ideal \({\mathcal{P}}\) . We prove our results under the only assumption that the prime to \({\mathcal{P}}\) part of \({\mathcal{N}}\) is relatively prime to \({\mathcal{D}}\) .  相似文献

The overlap, \({\mathcal{D}_N}\) , between the ground state of N free fermions and the ground state of N fermions in an external potential in one spatial dimension is given by a generalized Gram determinant. An upper bound is \({\mathcal{D}_N\leq\exp(-\mathcal{I}_N)}\) with the so-called Anderson integral \({\mathcal{I}_N}\) . We prove, provided the external potential satisfies some conditions, that in the thermodynamic limit \({\mathcal{I}_N = \gamma\ln N + O(1)}\) as \({N\to\infty}\) . The coefficient γ > 0 is given in terms of the transmission coefficient of the one-particle scattering matrix. We obtain a similar lower bound on \({\mathcal{D}_N}\) concluding that \({\tilde{C} N^{-\tilde{\gamma}} \leq \mathcal{D}_N \leq CN^{-\gamma}}\) with constants C, \({\tilde{C}}\) , and \({\tilde{\gamma}}\) . In particular, \({\mathcal{D}_N\to 0}\) as \({N\to\infty}\) which is known as Anderson’s orthogonality catastrophe.  相似文献

Let X be a finite or infinite chain and let \({\mathcal{O}}(X)\) be the monoid of all endomorphisms of X. In this paper, we describe the largest regular subsemigroup of \({\mathcal{O}}(X)\) and Green’s relations on \({\mathcal{O}}(X)\) . In fact, more generally, if Y is a nonempty subset of X and \({\mathcal{O}}(X,Y)\) is the subsemigroup of \({\mathcal{O}}(X)\) of all elements with range contained in Y, we characterize the largest regular subsemigroup of \({\mathcal{O}}(X,Y)\) and Green’s relations on \({\mathcal{O}}(X,Y)\) . Moreover, for finite chains, we determine when two semigroups of the type \({\mathcal {O}}(X,Y)\) are isomorphic and calculate their ranks.  相似文献

We consider the instationary Navier–Stokes equations in a smooth exterior domain \({\Omega \subseteq \mathbb{R}^3}\) with initial value u 0, external force f = div  F and viscosity ν. It is an important question to characterize the class of initial values \({u_0\in L^2_{\sigma}(\Omega)}\) that allow a strong solution \({u \in L^s(0,T; L^q(\Omega))}\) in some interval \({[0,T[ \, , 0 < T \leq \infty}\) where s, q with 3 < q < and \({\frac{2}{s} + \frac{3}{q} =1}\) are so-called Serrin exponents. In Farwig and Komo (Analysis (Munich) 33:101–119, 2013) it is proved that \({\int_0^{\infty} \| e^{-\nu t A} u_0 \|_q^{s} \, {d}t < \infty}\) is necessary and sufficient for the existence of a strong solution \({u \in L^s(0,T ; L^q(\Omega)) \, , 0 < T \leq \infty}\) , if additionally 3 < q ≤ 8; here, A denotes the Stokes operator. In this paper, we will show that this result remains true if q > 8, and consequently, \({\int_0^{\infty} \| e^{-\nu t A} u_0 \|_q^{s} \, {d}t < \infty}\) is the optimal initial value condition to obtain such a strong solution for all possible Serrin exponents s, q.  相似文献

Given a simplicial complex K, we consider several notions of geometric complexity of embeddings of K in a Euclidean space \({\mathbb{R}^d}\) : thickness, distortion, and refinement complexity (the minimal number of simplices needed for a PL embedding). We show that any n-complex with N simplices which topologically embeds in \({\mathbb{R}^{2n}, n > 2}\) , can be PL embedded in \({\mathbb{R}^{2n}}\) with refinement complexity \({O(e^{N^{4+{\epsilon}}})}\) . Families of simplicial n-complexes K are constructed such that any embedding of K into \({\mathbb{R}^{2n}}\) has an exponential lower bound on thickness and refinement complexity as a function of the number of simplices of K. This contrasts embeddings in the stable range, \({K\subset \mathbb{R}^{2n+k}, k > 0}\) , where all known bounds on geometric complexity functions are polynomial. In addition, we give a geometric argument for a bound on distortion of expander graphs in Euclidean spaces. Several related open problems are discussed, including questions about the growth rate of complexity functions of embeddings, and about the crossing number and the ropelength of classical links.  相似文献

Let ${\mathfrak{g}=W_1}$ be the p-dimensional Witt algebra over an algebraically closed field ${k=\overline{\mathbb{F}}_q}$ , where p > 3 is a prime and q is a power of p. Let G be the automorphism group of ${\mathfrak{g}}$ . The Frobenius morphism F G (resp. ${F_\mathfrak{g}}$ ) can be defined naturally on G (resp. ${\mathfrak{g}}$ ). In this paper, we determine the ${F_\mathfrak{g}}$ -stable G-orbits in ${\mathfrak{g}}$ . Furthermore, the number of ${\mathbb{F}_q}$ -rational points in each ${F_\mathfrak{g}}$ -stable orbit is precisely given. Consequently, we obtain the number of ${\mathbb{F}_q}$ -rational points in the nilpotent variety.  相似文献

Let \({\mathcal{P}}\) be an ideal of closed quotients of a completely regular frame L and \({\mathcal{R}_{\mathcal{P}}(L)}\) the collection of all functions in the ring \({\mathcal{R}(L)}\) whose support belong to \({\mathcal{P}}\) . We show that \({\mathcal{R}(L)}\) is a Noetherian ring if and only if \({\mathcal{R}(L)}\) is an Artinian ring if and only if L is a finite frame. Using this result, we next show that if \({\mathcal{P}}\) is the ideal of all compact closed quotients of L and L is \({\mathcal{P}}\) -continuous, then \({\mathcal{R}_{\mathcal{P}}(L)}\) is a Noetherian ring if and only if L is finite. Moreover, we show that L is a P-frame if and only if each ideal of \({\mathcal{R}(L)}\) is of the form \({\mathcal{R}_{\mathcal{P}}(L)}\) for some choice of \({\mathcal{P}}\) . We furnish equivalent conditions for \({\mathcal{R}_{\mathcal{P}}(L)}\) to be a prime ideal, a free ideal, and an essential ideal of \({\mathcal{R}(L)}\) separately in terms of the cozero elements of L. Finally, we show that L is basically disconnected if and only if \({\mathcal{R}(L)}\) is a coherent ring.  相似文献
