The construction of the sum of a direct (semilattice ordered) system of algebras introduced by J. Plonka – later known as the Plonka sum – is one of the most important methods of composition in universal algebra, having a number of applications in different algebraic theories, such as semigroup theory, semiring theory, etc. In this paper we present a more general way for constructing algebras with involution, that is, algebraic systems equipped with a unary involutorial operation which is at the same time an antiautomorphism of the underlying algebra. It is the sum – involutorial Plonka sum, as we call it – of an involution semilattice ordered system of algebras. We investigate its basic properties, as well as the problem of its subdirect decomposition.  相似文献

Group theoretical constructions usually terminate in the problem to decide whether two groups are isomorphic. In the case of arbitrary finite groups the calculation of ordinary group characters is not sufficient to decide about it. R. Brauer posed the problem, to find suitable additional group invariants. Applying the theory of norm-type forms of associative algebras, specialized to group algebras, we found, that the 1-, 2-, and 3-characters in the nonmodular case (with some restrictions on the characteristic), especially over the field of complex numbers, are necessary and sufficient for the finite groups. This sharpens a recent result of E. Formanek and D. Sibley on group determinants. Detailed proofs will be given elsewhere. Here we give an overview on recent related results and add a remark concerning calculations in the modular group case.  相似文献

The Cantor-Bernstein theorem was extended to -complete boolean algebras by Sikorski and Tarski. Chang's MV-algebras are a nontrivial generalization of boolean algebras: they stand to the infinite-valued calculus of Lukasiewicz as boolean algebras stand to the classical two-valued calculus. In this paper we further generalize the Cantor-Bernstein theorem to -complete MV-algebras, and compare it to a related result proved by Jakubík for certain complete MV-algebras.  相似文献

The paper focuses on the 1-generated positively graded algebras with non-pure resolutions and mainly discusses a new kind of algebras called(s,t,d)-bi-Koszul algebras as the generalization of bi-Koszul algebras. An(s,t,d)-bi-Koszul algebra can be obtained from two periodic algebras with pure resolutions. The generation of the Koszul dual of an(s,t,d)-bi-Koszul algebra is discussed. Based on it,the notion of strongly(s,t,d)-bi-Koszul algebras is raised and their homological properties are further discussed.  相似文献

We formulate the super-KMS condition suggested by Connes and Kastler, in the context of entire cyclic cohomology of quantum algebras. We show that the Chern character of Jaffe, Lesniewski, and Osterwalder — associated by Kastler to a super-KMS functional — satisfies the entire growth condition. Hence, a super-KMS functional defines a cocycle for the entire cyclic cohomology of quantum algebras.Supported in part by the National Science Foundation.  相似文献

The paper introduces some mild requirements under which a Kan extension is a full embedding that preserves factorization systems and colimits of -directed diagrams. Given a hyperplane arrangement in an affine space equipped with a linear functional, we define two finite-dimensional, noncommutative algebras, both of which are motivated by the geometry of hypertoric varieties. We show that these algebras are Koszul dual to each other, and that the roles of the two algebras are reversed by Gale duality. We also study the centers and representation categories of our algebras, which are in many ways analogous to integral blocks of category O.  相似文献

This paper contains two general results. The first is an extension of the theory of general linear extrapolation methods to a non-commutative field (or even a non-commutative unitary ring). The second one, by exploiting these new results, is to solve an old conjecture about Wynn's vector -algorithm. Then, by using designants and Clifford algebras, we show how the vectors k (n) can be written as a ratio of two designants.This result allow us to find, as a particular case, some well-known results and some others which are new.  相似文献

New theoretical results are presented about the principal matrix pth root. In particular, we show that the pth root is related to the matrix sign function and to the Wiener–Hopf factorization, and that it can be expressed as an integral over the unit circle. These results are used in the design and analysis of several new algorithms for the numerical computation of the pth root. Short duration, fast rise time ultra-wideband (UWB) electromagnetic pulses (nanopulses) are generated by numerous electronic devices in use today. Moreover, many new technologies involving nanopulses are under development and expected to become widely available soon. Study of nanopulse bioeffects is needed to probe their useful range in possible biomedical and biotechnological applications, and to ensure human safety. In this work we develop a computational approach to investigate electromagnetic fields in biological cells exposed to nanopulses. The simulation is based on a z-transformation of the electric displacement and a second-order Taylor approximation of a Cole–Cole expression for the frequency dependence of the dielectric properties of tissues, useful for converting from the frequency domain to the time domain. Maxwells equations are then calculated using the finite difference time domain method (FDTD), coupled with a perfectly matched layer to eliminate reflections from the boundary. We give a unified approach to the Isomorphism Conjecture of Farrell and Jones on the algebraicKandLtheory of integral group rings and to the Baum–Connes Conjecture on the topologicalKtheory of reducedC*algebras of groups. The approach is through spectra over the orbit category of a discrete groupG.We give several points of view on the assembly map for a family of subgroups and characterize such assembly maps by a universal property generalizing the results of Weiss and Williams to the equivariant setting.
