It is known that Dobrushin's ergodicity coefficient is one of the effective tools in the investigations of limiting behavior of Markov processes. Several interesting properties of the ergodicity coefficient of a positive mapping defined on base norm spaces have been studied. In this paper, we consider uniformly mean ergodic and asymptotically stable Markov operators on such spaces. In terms of the ergodicity coefficient, we establish uniform mean ergodicity criterion. Moreover, we develop the perturbation theory for uniformly asymptotically stable Markov chains on base norm spaces. In particularly, main results open new perspectives in the perturbation theory for quantum Markov processes defined on von Neumann algebras.  相似文献

We develop a martingale-based decomposition for a general class of quadratic forms of Markov chains, which resembles the well-known Hoeffding decomposition of UU-statistics of i.i.d. data up to a reminder term. To illustrate the applicability of our results, we discuss how this decomposition may be used to studying the large-sample properties of certain statistics in two problems: (i) we examine the asymptotic behavior of lag-window estimators in time series, and (ii) we derive an asymptotic linear representation and limiting distribution of UU-statistics with varying kernels in time series. We also discuss simplified examples of interest in statistics and econometrics.  相似文献

Summary. We study a diffusion model of an interacting particles system with general drift and diffusion coefficients, and electrostatic inter-particles repulsion. More precisely, the finite particle system is shown to be well defined thanks to recent results on multivalued stochastic differential equations (see [2]), and then we consider the behaviour of this system when the number of particles goes to infinity (through the empirical measure process). In the particular case of affine drift and constant diffusion coefficient, we prove that a limiting measure-valued process exists and is the unique solution of a deterministic PDE. Our treatment of the convergence problem (as ) is partly similar to that of T. Chan [3] and L.C.G. Rogers - Z. Shi [5], except we consider here a more general case allowing collisions between particles, which leads to a second-order limiting PDE. This paper deals with the optimal stopping problem under partial observation for piecewise-deterministic Markov processes. We first obtain a recursive formulation of the optimal filter process and derive the dynamic programming equation of the partially observed optimal stopping problem. Then, we propose a numerical method, based on the quantization of the discrete-time filter process and the inter-jump times, to approximate the value function and to compute an ??-optimal stopping time. We prove the convergence of the algorithms and bound the rates of convergence.  相似文献

Summary In the work of Donsker and Varadhan, Fukushima and Takeda and that of Deuschel and Stroock it has been shown, that the lower bound for the large deviations of the empirical distribution of an ergodic symmetric Markov process is given in terms of its Dirichlet form. We give a short proof generalizing this principle to general state spaces that include, in particular, infinite dimensional and non0metrizable examples. Our result holds w.r.t. quasi-every starting point of the Markov process. Moreover we show the corresponding weak upper bound w.r.t. quasi-every starting point. This research was supported by the Graduiertenkolleg Algebraische, analytische und geometrische Methoden und ihre Wechselwirkung in der modernen Mathematik, Bonn  相似文献

In this paper, we consider Girsanov transforms of pure jump type for discontinuous Markov processes. We show that, under some quite natural conditions, the Green functions of the Girsanov transformed process are comparable to those of the original process. As an application of the general results, the drift transform of symmetric stable processes is studied in detail. In particular, we show that the relativistic α-stable process in a bounded C1,1-smooth open set D can be obtained from symmetric α-stable process in D through a combination of a pure jump Girsanov transform and a Feynman-Kac transform. From this, we deduce that the Green functions for these two processes in D are comparable.  相似文献

Summary We discuss statistical properties of random walks conditioned by fixing a large area under their paths. We prove the functional central limit theorem (invariance principle) for these conditional distributions. The limiting Gaussian measure coincides with the conditional probability distribution of certain timenonhomogeneous Gaussian random process obtained by an integral transformation of the white noise. From the point of view of statistical mechanics the studied problem is the problem of describing the fluctuations of the phase boundary in the one-dimensional SOS-model.  相似文献

Summary Let ( s ) be a continuous Markov process satisfying certain regularity assumptions. We introduce a path-valued strong Markov process associated with ( s ), which is closely related to the so-called superprocess with spatial motion ( s ). In particular, a subsetH of the state space of ( s ) intersects the range of the superprocess if and only if the set of paths that hitH is not polar for the path-valued process. The latter property can be investigated using the tools of the potential theory of symmetric Markov processes: A set is not polar if and only if it supports a measure of finite energy. The same approach can be applied to study sets that are polar for the graph of the superprocess. In the special case when ( s ) is a diffusion process, we recover certain results recently obtained by Dynkin.  相似文献

In this paper we study backward stochastic differential equations (BSDEs) driven by the compensated random measure associated to a given pure jump Markov process XX on a general state space KK. We apply these results to prove well-posedness of a class of nonlinear parabolic differential equations on KK, that generalize the Kolmogorov equation of XX. Finally we formulate and solve optimal control problems for Markov jump processes, relating the value function and the optimal control law to an appropriate BSDE that also allows to construct probabilistically the unique solution to the Hamilton–Jacobi–Bellman equation and to identify it with the value function.  相似文献

Stochastic networks with time varying arrival and service rates and routing structure are studied. Time variations are governed by, in addition to the state of the system, two independent finite state Markov processes X and Y. The transition times of X are significantly smaller than typical inter-arrival and processing times whereas the reverse is true for the Markov process Y. By introducing a suitable scaling parameter one can model such a system using a hierarchy of time scales. Diffusion approximations for such multiscale systems are established under a suitable heavy traffic condition. In particular, it is shown that, under certain conditions, properly normalized buffer content processes converge weakly to a reflected diffusion. The drift and diffusion coefficients of this limit model are functions of the state process, the invariant distribution of X, and a finite state Markov process which is independent of the driving Brownian motion.  相似文献

Summary We first prove that a Markov diffusion satisfies a second order stochastic differential equation involving the invariants associated to its reciprocal class as a reciprocal process. Some properties of the noise term are given. We also prove that this equation can be viewed as an Euler Lagrange equation in a problem of calculus of variations. In the non markovian case, a Bernstein bridge is shown to satisfy the same equation but in a weak sense.  相似文献

We introduce a sequence of stopping times that allow us to study an analogue of a life-cycle decomposition for a continuous time Markov process, which is an extension of the well-known splitting technique of Nummelin to the continuous time case. As a consequence, we are able to give deterministic equivalents of additive functionals of the process and to state a generalisation of Chen’s inequality. We apply our results to the problem of non-parametric kernel estimation of the drift of multi-dimensional recurrent, but not necessarily ergodic, diffusion processes.  相似文献

We show the existence of unique global strong solutions of a class of stochastic differential equations on the cone of symmetric positive definite matrices. Our result includes affine diffusion processes and therefore extends considerably the known statements concerning Wishart processes, which have recently been extensively employed in financial mathematics. Moreover, we consider stochastic differential equations where the diffusion coefficient is given by the αth positive semidefinite power of the process itself with 0.5<α<1 and obtain existence conditions for them. In the case of a diffusion coefficient which is linear in the process we likewise get a positive definite analogue of the univariate GARCH diffusions.  相似文献

We provide a condition in terms of a supermartingale property for a functional of the Markov process, which implies (a) ff-ergodicity of strong Markov processes at a subgeometric rate, and (b) a moderate deviation principle for an integral (bounded) functional. An equivalent condition in terms of a drift inequality on the extended generator is also given. Results related to (f,r)(f,r)-regularity of the process, of some skeleton chains and of the resolvent chain are also derived. Applications to specific processes are considered, including elliptic stochastic differential equations, Langevin diffusions, hypoelliptic stochastic damping Hamiltonian systems and storage models.  相似文献

In this note we consider a quadratic growth backward stochastic differential equation (BSDE) driven by a continuous martingale M. We prove (in Theorem 3.2) that if M is a strong Markov process and if the BSDE has the form (2.2) with regular data then the unique solution (Y,Z,N) of the BSDE is reduced to (Y,Z), i.e. the orthogonal martingale N is equal to zero, showing that in a Markovian setting the “usual” solution (Y,Z) (of a BSDE with regular data) has not to be completed by a strongly orthogonal component even if M does not enjoy the martingale representation property.  相似文献

We consider first passage times for piecewise exponential Markov processes that may be viewed as Ornstein–Uhlenbeck processes driven by compound Poisson processes. We allow for two-sided jumps and as a main result we derive the joint Laplace transform of the first passage time of a lower level and the resulting undershoot when passage happens as a consequence of a downward (negative) jump. The Laplace transform is determined using complex contour integrals and we illustrate how the choice of contours depends in a crucial manner on the particular form of the negative jump part, which is allowed to belong to a dense class of probabilities. We give extensions of the main result to two-sided exit problems where the negative jumps are as before but now it is also required that the positive jumps have a distribution of the same type. Further, extensions are given for the case where the driving Lévy process is the sum of a compound Poisson process and an independent Brownian motion. Examples are used to illustrate the theoretical results and include the numerical evaluation of some concrete exit probabilities. Also, some of the examples show that for specific values of the model parameters it is possible to obtain closed form expressions for the Laplace transform, as is the case when residue calculus may be used for evaluating the relevant contour integrals.  相似文献

We study dependence between components of multivariate (nice Feller) Markov processes: what conditions need to be satisfied by a multivariate Markov process so that its components are Markovian with respect to the filtration of the entire process and such that they follow prescribed laws? To answer this question, we introduce a symbolic approach, which is rooted in the concept of pseudo-differential operator (PDO). We investigate connections between dependence, in the sense described above, and the PDOs. In particular, we study the problem of constructing a multivariate nice Feller process with given marginal laws in terms of symbols of the related PDOs. This approach leads to relatively simple conditions, which provide solutions to this problem.  相似文献

We establish general theorems quantifying the notion of recurrence–through an estimation of the moments of passage times–for irreducible continuous-time Markov chains on countably infinite state spaces. Sharp conditions of occurrence of the phenomenon of explosion are also obtained. A new phenomenon of implosion is introduced and sharp conditions for its occurrence are proven. The general results are illustrated by treating models having a difficult behaviour even in discrete time.  相似文献

Particle splitting methods are considered for the estimation of rare events. The probability of interest is that a Markov process first enters a set BB before another set AA, and it is assumed that this probability satisfies a large deviation scaling. A notion of subsolution is defined for the related calculus of variations problem, and two main results are proved under mild conditions. The first is that the number of particles generated by the algorithm grows subexponentially if and only if a certain scalar multiple of the importance function is a subsolution. The second is that, under the same condition, the variance of the algorithm is characterized (asymptotically) in terms of the subsolution. The design of asymptotically optimal schemes is discussed, and numerical examples are presented.  相似文献
