An inverse semigroup S is a Howson inverse semigroup if the intersection of finitely generated inverse subsemigroups of S is finitely generated. Given a locally finite action θ of a group G on a semilattice E, it is proved that E*θG is a Howson inverse semigroup if and only if G is a Howson group. It is also shown that this equivalence fails for arbitrary actions.  相似文献

A semigroup S is said to have an associate subgroup G if, for each s ∈ S, there is a unique s* ∈ G such that ss*s = s. If the identity 1 G of G is medial, i.e., c1 G c = c holds for each c being a product of idempotents, we show that S is isomorphic to a certain subsemigroup of a semidirect product of an idempotent generated semigroup C by G. If additionally S is orthodox, we may choose C to be a band, belonging to the band variety, generated by the band of idempotents of S.  相似文献

In this article we prove that if S is a faithfully projective R-algebra and H is a finite inverse semigroup acting on S as R-linear maps such that the fixed subring S H  = R, then any partial isomorphism between ideals of S which are generated by central idempotents can be obtained as restriction of an R-automorphism of S and there exists a finite subgroup of automorphisms G of S with S G  = R.  相似文献

Let S be a semigroup and 𝔽 be a field. For an ideal J of the semigroup algebra 𝔽[S] of S over 𝔽, let ?J denote the restriction (to S) of the congruence on 𝔽[S] defined by the ideal J. A semigroup S is called a permutable semigroup if α ○ β = β ○ α is satisfied for all congruences α and β of S. In this paper we show that if S is a semilattice or a rectangular band then φ{S; 𝔽}J → ?J is a homomorphism of the semigroup (Con(𝔽[S]); ○ ) into the relation semigroup (?S; ○ ) if and only if S is a permutable semigroup.  相似文献

The construction by Hall of a fundamental orthodox semigroup W B from a band B provides an important tool in the study of orthodox semigroups. We present here a semigroup S B that plays the role of W B for a class of semigroups having a band of idempotents B. Specifically, the semigroups we consider are weakly B-abundant and satisfy the congruence condition (C). Any orthodox semigroup S with E(S)=B lies in our class. On the other hand, if a semigroup S lies in our class, then S is Ehresmann if and only if B is a semilattice. The Hall semigroup W B is a subsemigroup of S B , as are the (weakly) idempotent connected semigroups V B and U B . We show how the structure of S B can be used to extract information relating to arbitrary weakly B-abundant semigroups with (C). Our first purpose in this paper is to provide necessary conditions for a weak*-closed translation invariant subspace in the semigroup algebra of a locally compact topological foundation semigroup to be completely complemented. We give conditions when a weak*-closed left translation invariant subspace in Ma(S)* of a compact cancellative foundation semigroup S is the range of a weak*-weak* continuous projection on M a (S)* commuting with translations. Let G be a locally compact group and A be a Banach G-module. Our second purpose in this paper is to study some projections on A* and B(A*) which commutes with translations and convolution.  相似文献

Let S be any semigroup and a, s ∈ S. If a = asa, then s is an associate of a. A subgroup G of S is an associate subgroup of S if every a ∈ S has a unique associate a* in G. It turns out that G = H z for some idempotent z, the zenith of S. The mapping a → a* is a unary operation on S. We say that S is monogenic if S is generated, as a unary semigroup, by a single element.

We embark upon the problem of the structure of monogenic semigroups in this sense by characterizing monogenic ones belonging to completely simple semigroups, normal cryptogroups, orthogroups, combinatorial semigroups, cryptic medial semigroups, cryptic orthodox semigroups, and orthodox monoids. In each of these cases, except one, we construct a free object. The general problem remains open.  相似文献

In this note we characterize the affine semigroup rings K[S] over an arbitrary field K that satisfy condition R? of Serre. Our characterization is in terms of the face lattice of the positive cone pos(S) of S. We start by reviewing some basic facts about the faces of pos(S) and consequences for the monomial primes of K[S]. After proving our characterization we turn our attention to the Rees algebras of a special class of monomial ideals in a polynomial ring over a field. In this special case, some of the characterizing criteria are always satisfied. We give examples of non-normal affine semigroup rings that satisfy R2.  相似文献

In this article, the approximate amenability of semigroup algebra ?1(S) is investigated, where (S) is a uniformly locally finite inverse semigroup. Indeed, we show that for a uniformly locally finite inverse semigroup (S), the notions of amenability, approximate amenability and bounded approximate amenability of ?1(S) are equivalent. We use this to give a direct proof of the approximate amenability of ?1(S) for a Brandt semigroup (S). Moreover, we characterize the approximate amenability of ?1(S), where S is a uniformly locally finite band semigroup.  相似文献

Let R be an associative ring with unit, let S be a semigroup with zero, and let RS be a contracted semigroup ring. It is proved that if RS is radical in the sense of Jacobson and if the element 1 has infinite additive order, then S is a locally finite nilsemigroup. Further, for any semigroup S, there is a semigroup T S such that the ring RT is radical in the Brown--McCoy sense. Let S be the semigroup of subwords of the sequence abbabaabbaababbab..., and let F be the two-element field. Then the ring FS is radical in the Brown--McCoy sense and semisimple in the Jacobson sense.  相似文献

It is known that the bicyclic semigroup S 1 is an amenable inverse semigroup. In this note we show that the convolution semigroup algebra 1(S 1) is not approximately amenable.  相似文献

It has been suspected for some time that if a regular semigroup S has an inverse transversal then all inverse transversals of S are isomorphic. Here we give a proof of this fact.  相似文献

We study algebraic and topological properties of the convolution semigroup of probability measures on a topological groups and show that a compact Clifford topological semigroup S embeds into the convolution semigroup P(G) over some topological group G if and only if S embeds into the semigroup exp(G)\exp(G) of compact subsets of G if and only if S is an inverse semigroup and has zero-dimensional maximal semilattice. We also show that such a Clifford semigroup S embeds into the functor-semigroup F(G) over a suitable compact topological group G for each weakly normal monadic functor F in the category of compacta such that F(G) contains a G-invariant element (which is an analogue of the Haar measure on G).  相似文献

An ordered regular semigroup S is E-special if for every x ∈ S there is a biggest x + ∈ S such that both xx + and x + x are idempotent. Every regular strong Dubreil–Jacotin semigroup is E-special, as is every ordered completely simple semigroup with biggest inverses. In an E-special ordered regular semigroup S in which the unary operation x → x + is antitone the subset P of perfect elements is a regular ideal, the biggest inverses in which form an inverse transversal of P if and only if S has a biggest idempotent. If S + is a subsemigroup and S does not have a biggest idempotent, then P contains a copy of the crown bootlace semigroup.  相似文献

Let G be a finite group acting by automorphism on a lattice A, and hence on the group algebra S=k[A]. The algebra of G-invariants in S is called an algebra of multiplicative invariants. We present an explicit version of a result of Farkas stating that multiplicative invariants of finite reflection groups are semigroup algebras.  相似文献

A regular semigroup S is termed locally F-regular, if each class of the least completely simple congruence ξ contains a greatest element with respect to the natural partial order. It is shown that each locally F-regular semigroup S admits an embedding into a semidirect product of a band by S/ξ. Further, if ξ satisfies the additional property that for each s ∈ S and each inverse (sξ)′ of sξ in S/ξ the set (sξ)′ ∩ V(s) is not empty, we represent S both as a Rees matrix semigroup over an F-regular semigroup as well as a certain subsemigroup of a restricted semidirect product of a band by S/ξ.  相似文献

By an associate inverse subsemigroup of a regular semigroup S we mean a subsemigroup T of S containing a least associate of each xS, in relation to the natural partial order ≤ S . We describe the structure of a regular semigroup with an associate inverse subsemigroup, satisfying two natural conditions. As a particular application, we obtain the structure of regular semigroups with an associate subgroup with medial identity element.
